Cant totally agree there honestly. Yes jung was totally far more of an occultist than a man of science, but saying the psychological reading of alchemy isnt there is a bit dubious to me. For instance the chymical wedding of crc are basically entirely focused on alchemy as self improvement and make it fairly clear physical matter or immortality is not the goal
From day six, after all but three alchemists are deceived from participating in the real final stage of the great work - “Here we had leisure to look a while at our companions through certain crevices made in the floor. They were now very busy at a furnace, and each had to blow up the fire himself with a pipe, and they stood blowing about it like this, as if they were wondrously preferred before us in this.”
And shortly later: “Now it was also time for the Virgin to see how other artists behaved themselves. They were well pleased because, as the Virgin afterwards informed me, they were to work in gold, which is indeed a piece of this art, but not the most principal, most necessary, and best. They had indeed too a part of these ashes, so that they imagined nothing other than that the whole bird was provided for the sake of gold, and that life must thereby be restored to the deceased.”
And in day seven, as the order is given their vows- “(5) That you shall not be willing to live longer than God will have you do. At this last article we could not choose but laugh, and it may well have been placed after the rest only for a conceit.”
The rest of the text makes it fairly clear that it is concerned with an inner journey/self improvement/understanding the nature of the self. For instance there isnt any subtlety made about ‘the virgin’ being the protagonists feminine reflection.
So its certainly there. Does jung carelessly knock everything else off the table to focus on it? Perhaps, but still.
THE PSYCHOLOGICAL READING OF ALCHEMY DOESNT TAKE SHAPE UNTIL PARACELSUS IN THE 17TH CENTURY.
Chymical Wedding is a result of the post-paracelcian shift. It is clearly intended to have a personal spiritual reading akin to how Jung reads it. I would go so far as to say Jungian psychology barely diverges from the theory of the self put forth in Chymical Wedding. It's dope. It's one of my favorite occult texts of all time.
JUNG was not just applying the psychological reading to Chymical Wedding. He was applying it to fucking ZOSIMOS. Who was writing in fucking 300 AD. He read Chymical Wedding, and retroactively applied his reading to the previous 1600 years of alchemical history, making the case that ALL alchemical texts were actually just ancient psychological textbooks. Which his bullshit.

“Well, since we're all gonna die, there's one more secret I feel I have to share with you”
I did not love “Batman: Wayne Family Adventures” What? i have mixed feelings about WFA. Ugh. How can you even say that, Celeste tumble dryer? i liked some parts. disliked some too. Celeste tumble dryer, it's so good. It's like the perfect webtoon. i- This is what everyone always says. Whenever they say, it's like, "Oh my..." Everyone always says- CRC Payne, Vadynea, I mean, Listen- You never see- STARBITE?! i know, i uh eh, FINE, fine artist, did not like the webtoon. Why is not? Did not- couldn't get into it. Explain yourself. What didn't you like about it? It insists upon itself, dear reader. What? It insists upon itself. What does that even mean? 'CAUSE IT HAS A VALID POINT TO MAKE, IT'S INSISTING! It takes forever gettin' in. They spend nearly six and a half hours, and then- You know, i can't even get through it, i can't even finish the webtoon. i've never even seen the ending. YOU'VE NEVER SEEN THE ENDING?! Well, how can you say you don't like it if you haven't even given it a chance? I agree with italicised text, it's not really fair. It's outrageous. i have tried on three separate occasions to get through it. And i- i get to the scene where this grown man who does not need a caretaker can’t cook for the death of him and this coffee addicted napper type guy… Yeah, It's a great scene- And they- I love that scene. It's NOT a great- It's been noted in every fan fiction. i have no idea what they're talking about. It's like they have a well done moment and then they’re falling into fandom tropes all over again- That's where i lose interest and i walk away. You know what, Celeste tumble dryer- They're speaking FANON! The language they're speaking is a language of subtly, something you don't understand. i love Batman: Under the Red Hood That is my answer to that statement. Exactly. Well, there you go. Whatever. I like that movie, too.

Happy Trials of the Jedi Day! I’m on the wait list for the audiobook at the library, but in the mean time I thought I’d share some of the High Republic things I’ve made since I first started reading the books. Shop is here. And remember you can use code TUMBLR15 at checkout for 15% off most accessories!

I think this might have been the first High Republic design I made. Because Geode. Also available as a sticker and a keychain.

I found these gold lego lightsaber hilts and had to make a bunch of saber earrings. Stellan Gios' are my favorite, but I also love the double-saber pairs I made for Keeve Trennis and Gella Nattai! And I made a Vernestra Rwoh pair and an Avar & Elzar pair.

I made these motel-style souvenir keychains that I imagined Lina Soh might have had made for everyone at the Starlight Beacon Commemorative Launch! The Aurebesh reads "Starlight Beacon" on the top and "Commemorative Launch/7745 CRC" on the bottom.

These motel keychains for the Temple of the Kyber on Jedha and Takodana Castle fit in different places on the timeline, but both locations show up in The High Republic!

I also made these High Republic lanyard keychains and matching long lanyards, which have been one of your favorites. The Dishabesh text reads "for light and life."

And of course hair accessories! (The scrunchie is currently sold out but will be back soon!)

I also made this scrunchie and lanyard that include elements of Vernestra Rwoh's story both in The HIgh Republic books and in The Acolyte.

And this super cute chapstick holder keychain:

I made a bunch of Acolyte things, too! I can do a separate post for those, maybe? Anyway. Shop is here. Pls enjoy.

“Alchemical Wedding” by Emily Balivet The Chymical Wedding of Christian Rosenkreutz:
Introductory paragraph
The story follows the Passover and the seven days of unleavened bread exactly. The slaughtering and roasting of the Paschal lamb begins in the evening (near Easter), as does The Chymical Wedding. The Chymical Wedding begins in the evening with CRC sitting at a table with both the Paschal Lamb and the unleavened bread. This would seem to indicate that CRC was Jewish. However, the words "Father of Lights" are curiously in the first paragraph. This phrase, "Father of Lights" appears only once in the King James Bible and it is in the book of James (Jas 1:17). Below is the opening paragraph of The Chymical Wedding;
The nine Lords
The nine Lords are nine books of the New Testament, I Peter, II Peter, James, Jude, I John, II John, III John, the Gospel of John, and the Revelation. CRC believed that the Gospel of John is the only gospel that is historically plausible, and that it is the unleavened bread and its relationship to the Passover that truly divides John's gospel from the synoptic Gospels. The nine lords were bound together with the rest that were at the table (27 total) and CRC cried.
The four paths
In the second chapter CRC sits down to rest under three tall cedars. There is a tablet fastened to one of them which tells of four paths. An important point is that it's the Bridegroom (Bible) that is offering these paths. It reads as follows: The first path leads to rocky places and this is reminiscent of Peter, "the rock" as he's portrayed in the synoptic gospels. The second path in the text is the path taught in John's gospel, as CRC is told not to turn to the left or right on this path and John's is the only account not to mention two men crucified to the right and to the left of Jesus while on the cross as thieves (John 20:18). The third path would be the general letters of Peter, James, Jude, and John. In the letter of James we find reference to the royal way or royal law (Jas 2:8). In the second letter of Peter we find the only reference to one in a thousand (II Pet 3:8). The fourth path is the letters of Paul. This is where one finds the teaching of the dead raised incorruptible (I Cor 15:52), and the only place that the word "consuming" appears in the New Testament (Heb 12:29).
The story then continues, Whereupon I presently drew out my bread and cut a slice of it. It shouldn't go unnoticed that, after reading this tablet, CRC cuts the bread. Symbol XXIV of the symbols of Pythagoras indicates "Never break the bread". Bread is broken in the gospels of Mark, Luke, and Matthew; however bread is never broken in John's gospel. Bread is also broken in the letters of Paul and the Book of Acts; however bread is never broken in the general letters of Peter, James, Jude and John.
As the story proceeds it's evident that CRC took the second path with the following words, yet I still proceeded with my compass, and would not budge one step from the Meridian Line. Meaning that CRC didn't turn to the left or right. It's also noteworthy that CRC says, "I patiently took up my cross, got up onto my feet". Only in John's gospel did Jesus bear the cross. It was Simon of Cyrene who bore the cross for Jesus in Mark, Luke and Matthew's gospels. But at the same time in Mark's gospel Jesus offered a man "take up the cross, and follow me"(Mark 10:21).

Firefly: Can you tell me why Toga just sent me a text of you all covered in blood? Did something happen with the heroes??
Duster: No, nothing like that. Spinner found a CRC base in a mansion in the middle of nowhere. They pride themselves on their legacy so we wanted to see if they had anything worth snatching for Compress's fence. They weren't amicable to being robbed and decided to spew their filth at Shuichi so we slaughtered them.

Solar Opposites: Mighty Solars The Movie Ch. 8
Back at the laboratory, Barry speeds in here
Barry: Cheery, I got your text and…
Suddenly, he sees another woman who looks like Cheery, but is different, because she has short blond hair and blue lipstick.
Barry: Cheery?
???: I’m not Cheery…
Barry: Then what are you?
???: I don’t know.
Caitlin, Dr. Weatherstone and Lou comes in here.
Caitlin: Barry, we got your text and… looks at the woman Cheery?
Cheery: That’s not my name.
???: That’s not my name.
Kano comes in and chuckles.
Kano: Hello Barry. I’m the new scientist Kano.
Kano: Well, this is interesting.
Barry: What?
Dr. Kano: Barry, do you remember the time that you found out Cheery was trying to bring back Alex, and you destroyed her lab?
Barry gasps as a flashback plays
Barry: stammers and sighs I’m sorry I didn’t have a choice…
Kano: Don’t be sorry.
Barry: Where is Cheery?
Kano chuckles.
Kano: Oh she’s dead and replaced by… well…
???: You may call me Naomi.
Caitlin smiles.
Caitlin: Don’t worry. Is there a way to bring Cheery back?
Kano: I... I... I know what you must be thinking, but I have a plan to bring Cheery back. Now the CRC was supposed to unzip neural DNA from Cheery. That way, we could isolate Naomi’s brain patterns inside of her... Download into another new body later on. Only a power fluctuation caused the process to malfunction, and so if you four could provide me with a stable energy source, we could reverse the process and just bring Cheery back.
Barry: You want us to help?
Kano: I do. Do you accept.
Barry: takes a deep breath Yes…
Barry, Dr. Weatherstone, Lou and Caitlin leaves.
Naomi: to Kano How did I do?
Kano: Are you kidding? You were perfect. This is going better than we planned.
Kano smiles evilly.
Naomi: What?
Kano: Come. We have much to discuss.
The scene then cuts to Human Yumyulack walking in the city with a new outfit, as he sniffles and wipes away his tears. Suddenly, he sees something glowing near a dumpster.
Human Yumyulack: What the hell?
Human Yumyulack finds the purple glow and it is revealed to be a needle.
Human Yumyulack: Huh?
Human Yumyulack then grows intrigued as he hides behind the dumpster. Echoes of the kids taunting him comes back as he takes a deep breath and injects the needle into himself. The scene then cuts to Terry, who is hiding from the guards. Then, Cheery wakes up.
Cheery: What happened?!
Terry: Hi.
Cheery screams.
Cheery: Who are you?!
Terry: It’s okay I’m a good alien. Let’s get you out of here.
Cheery: Whuh?
Terry: So how did you end up here? What happened?!
Cheery: sighs I was trying to bring my dead best friend who I was in love with back to life but I was wrong. It wasn’t an act of true love.
Terry: What… but this actually the wrong choice.
Cheery: Please go… you can’t stay here. You’ll get hurt.
Terry: No! I am not leaving until we come up with a plan to save the two of us. then realized something You happen to have any ideas?
Cheery: I don’t even know what love is anymore…
Terry sighs sadly.
Terry: quickly cheers up But it’s okay. I do. Love is putting someone else's needs before yours. Just like when I put my love of Earth away so I can escape with my family before it exploded.
Cheery: You… have a family?
Terry: Yeah. A husband and three children.
Cheery: gasp seeing a scar on Terry’s face Oh my God! You’re hurt!
Terry: That’s okay… some people are worth saving…
Cheery smiles.
Cheery: I’m Cheery.
Terry: And I’m Terry. suddenly sees a guard Oh my God! Behind you!
Cheery gasp as Terry kicks the guard in the face and the two escape. Meanwhile with Quasarblast..
Korvo/Quasarblast: Come on Terry! Where are you?
Terry: It’s okay! Let’s just get out of here before-
A guard then knocks out Cheery as Terry gasp in horror. Then, he feels rage coming inside of him he starts sparking orange.
Korvo/Quasarblast: gasp Terry?
Terry: Korvo?!
Orange sparks spread around Terry before he could get to his husband as it makes an orange tornado, an orange superhero mask appears around Terry as he growls and screams in rage as the sparks made the screen go black. The scene then cuts back to Phoebe calling the police for Terry while Jesse is watching tv.
Phoebe: What do you mean you don’t know where he is?! But-
The call ends as Phoebe sighs. Jesse then starts watching the news while Pupa is playing with his baby toys.
Jesse: Phoebe? Are Korvo and Terry gonna be okay?
Phoebe MacCarthy: Oh honey, I’m sure your dads are okay and… looks at the news What the hell?
Phoebe turns up the volume as they start listening to the news.
New Reporter: We go now live to our reporter Marcy Greenfield for a shocking report!
The news cuts to a scene where on live, a car from dangling from taffy as police put cautionary bars to keep people away.
March Greenfield: Just 30 minutes ago, police come across a startling sight. A young woman held hostage in a taxi above 80 stories above the ground by a web of taffy.
Jesse and Phoebe gasp.
News Anchor Man: The hostage as been identified as new resident Dr. Kimber, a newcomer scientist recently this morning with another new scientist, Dr. Janiz.
Dr. Janiz: getting by the crowd Thank you so much.
Dr. Janiz came at the scene gasp. The scene cuts back to Phoebe heading up to the lab, only to see it destroyed with a note.
Phoebe: Holy shit!
Jesse: We gotta help them!
Phoebe: Jesse… our lab is destroyed. sees note that says,”You stupid fucking computer is gone” - Pinball Brat Go to the police. I’ll go find help. Hopefully.
Jesse nods and runs to the police. Then, the scene cuts to Pupa playing until he sees a glowing seafoam green crystal that looks like rock candy.
Pupa: Ooh. Candy!
Pupa heads outside and climbs into the trash can the material is and eats it. Pupa belches as he giggles but then suddenly..
Pupa: Huh?
Pupa began to hear a girl screaming and suddenly develops telekinesis as he finds out to be a girl name Sherbet who is crying for help after being held hostage by a woman with the logo, “Candy Bitch” on her shirt.
Pupa: gasp No!
Pupa then heads off. The scene then cuts to Human Yumyulack who starts moaning in pain as he walks to the scene of the crime and exclaims in shock.
Human Yumyulack: Holy shit!
Dr. Kimber holds on her to her life as part of the web snaps and the car falls as she screams. The car then landed on another part of the web she breathes in and out. Human Yumyulack then starts to experience pain as he breathes in and out while his eyes starts glowing purple as they started charging up like a battery.
Human Yumyulack: Wh-what’s happening to me? turns back into his Shlorpian self as his hood flips up on his head
The people turn around and gasp.
Yumyulack: EVERYONE! GET BACK! I CAN’T CONTROL IT! SOMETHING’S WRONG WITH MY EYES?!
Yumyulack then screams as he suddenly shoot laser eyes as everyone started screaming. Dr. Janiz turns around gasp in shock. This is caught the news reporter’s attention.
Marcy Greenfield: This just in, a mysterious teenage vigilant alien appeared and has the power of powerful laser eyes.
Yumyulack screams as he collapse on the floor on his back as his laser eyes kept shooting.
Yumyulack: HOW DO YOU FUCKING SHUT THESE THINGS OFF?!
Human Jesse came by and gasp upon seeing her brother in danger.
Human Jesse: Yummybear!
Human Jesse then races to save her brother, until she stepped on a sharp glowing pink object.
Human Jesse: Ouch!
As she opens her eyes, Jesse finds herself back in her Shlorpian form and in a black void. A pink spotlight appears while singing:
[JESSE]
It's so dark Not a star in the sky With no sound to be heard And reality blurred Dreams are gone with the light Fading out Till the world's far behind I can't do this alone I can't find my way home With this doubt in my mind
Jesse then sees a pink moving light and follows it as she continues singing.
[JESSE]
Gotta find the courage in me To stand up and be Braver than I have been before Searching for the courage in me So I can believe this is what I am destined for Is this my moment to rise Leave the person I was behind There are storms to come Can I face each one Is it time Is this my moment to rise I have started to realize Doubts that held me down Begin fading now Is it my Moment to rise As I stand With a new path to tread The hope in my heart Starts to shake at the thought of what might lie ahead Should I fight There's so much I don't know Do I push through the fears Till a new world appears Though I might be alone
Jesse then sees a pink Shlorpian spirit smiling at her.
Pink Shlorpian Spirit: You ready Jessica?
Jesse: What if I fail?
Pink Shlorpian Spirit: You must face your own fears. To protect the people you love.
Jesse is hesitant at first but then nods with determination. Jesse then closes her eyes as a sparkling flower with different shades of pink glows inside of her and she finally twirls around and develops a superhero suit of her own.
[FUNG-IRL]
What was in darkness Is totally different in the light And deep in my heart I have found a way to climb to new heights I will go on regardless Of anything standing in my way Harness the power in me for those who need to be saved I won't run I won't hide I will soar through the sky tonight I'm not going down without a fight And now is the time My moment to rise
Meanwhile, with Pupa, he crawls on top of the building and gasp upon seeing Sherbet trying to get free from Pinball Brat.
Sherbet: HELP!
Pupa: No! No! Stop it!
Pinball Brat: Who the fuck are you?!
Pupa growls.
Pinball Brat: laughs crazy while Sherbet continues screaming A baby blob? This is why only stupid fucking grown ups are heroes! Because you never know when some lunatic will come along with a sadistic choice
Sherbet: screams while breathing in and out
Pinball Brat: Let die the screaming peasant brat…
Sherbet screams as her shoes fall down into the water.
Pinball Brat: Or let die the people on that bullshit train.
Pupa snaps.
Pupa: Let her go!
Pinball Brat: We are here who we choose to be! drops Sherbet Now choose!
Pupa growls.
Sherbet: screaming as she falls
Pupa then starts glowing as he flies thanks to his telekinesis and develops his own super suit and flies to save Sherbet.
Pupa: Mighty Pupa!
Pupa uses his telekinesis powers and helps Sherbet float to safety as she lands on her feet. Pupa then uses his telekinesis to help save the people on the train. He then taps on the window as the people gasp and then Pupa writes a message with a crayon which says, “You’ve been saved by The Mighty Pupa”. Sherbet smiles
Sherbet: calling out Thank you Mighty Pupa!
Meanwhile… Yumyulack starts crying out as tears fall from his eyes. Mighty Pupa sees this then grows determined and flies off to save his big brother.
Pupa/Mighty Pupa: Yay!
Pinball Brat growls as she heads off to stop Mighty Pupa, but then a vines appears and wraps around her as she get trapped. The police arrived and grows amazed. Back with Yumyulack, purple sparks appears around his body. Then, Candy Bitch appears and laughs as Mighty Pupa gets in a fighting stance.
Candy Bitch: Who the fuck is this?!
Pupa/Mighty Pupa: Leave my big brother alone!
Sonya appears from the window as at the homeless shelter and gasp in surprise.
Sonya: Wow!
Yumyulack: Pupa?!
Candy Bitch: laughing evilly Nice try! I bet you can’t stop Candy Bitch, you little piece of shit!
Yumyulack: Pupa, get outta here!
Mighty Pupa uses his telekinesis and uses a brick to throw at Candy Bitch, who gets hit in the head. Candy Bitch growls and traps Mighty Pupa by wrapping saltwater taffy around him.
Yumyulack: gasp as he suddenly starts glowing Pupa! Hang on!
Stacy G gasp upon seeing this as Trevor and Louise hold her safe. Suddenly, she notices something glowing pink underneath the concrete.
Stacy G: What the hell?
Then, underneath the cracks, the concrete breaks as a huge flower appears with Jesse, who is still in her new superhero suit, stands on top of it with a face of courage.
Yumyulack: Jesse?!
Jesse/???: STAY AWAY FROM MY BROTHERS, YOU BITCH!
Then, Yumyulack around his body as his own suit appears and spread around his body as he grows amazed. The scene cuts to Monica who gasp and easily recognize Jesse underneath the suit.
Monica: Pause! Rewind! whispers Jesse?
Jesse/???: Hi, Monica!
Monica grows excited, but then she gets hit by an orchid laser by Candy Bitch, but manage to recover as she suddenly starts charging up. Monica gets excited while it cuts back to Jesse bravely facing Candy Bitch.
Candy Bitch: Oh this is the little blob’s big sister wister? And who may you be?
Jesse/???: You can call me…Fung-irl!
Fung-irl shoots vines as she leap and twirls around as Candy Bitch exclaims in shock while dodging them. Fung-irl then gasp and sees Dr. Kimber hanging for her life.
Jesse/Fung-irl: Hang on!
Dr. Janiz gasp as she worries for Dr. Kimber. The web then breaks apart as the car starts falling and Dr. Kimber screams in horror. Fung-irl then creates a big flower as it catches the car with Dr. Kimber. She then uses her powers to lower the flower down as she breathes in and out but catches her breath and smiles at Fung-irl.
Dr. Kimber: Thank you.
Jesse/Fung-irl: Anytime good citizen.
But then, a taffy was shot as Fung-irl dodges it. Candy Bitch growls.
Candy Bitch: Why you little fucking brat! shoots licorice at Fung-irl as it ties up her hands
Yumyulack/???: HEY!
Fung-irl and Mighty Pupa then gasp and sees Yumyulack appearing with in a glowing light with his own super suit. Dr. Janiz gasp in shock.
Dr. Janiz: whispering Yumyulack?
Candy Bitch: Who the fuck are you?
Yumyulack/???: LEAVE MY SIBLINGS ALONE!
Yumyulack shoots his laser eyes at Candy Bitch who falls to the ground. Fung-irl then uses her flower powers and released herself from the restraints and flies over to free Mighty Pupa from the taffy as he squeals in joy and hugs his big sister.
Jesse/Fung-irl: Yumyulack?
Pupa/Mighty Pupa: Yumyulack! hugs his big brother
Yumyulack/???: You guys okay?
Fung-irl runs up and hugs her brother, who is shocked at first, but smiles in tears and returns the hug.
Jesse/Fung-irl: Thanks for saving me big bro.
Yumyulack/Vil-Gil-An-T: Anytime. Also, nice suit.
Jesse/Fung-irl: Thanks.
Yumyulack/???: By the way, it’s Vil-Gil-An-T now.
Yumyulack, now Vil-Gil-An-T, does a superhero pose. Mighty Pupa then senses and sees Quasarblast looking for Terry, who sees Cheery unconscious and picks her up. Mighty Pupa gasp as he realize where they are.
Pupa/Mighty Pupa: Vil-Gil-An-T! Fung-irl! Look!
Jesse/Fung-irl: What is it Pupa? What’s wrong?
Pupa/Mighty Pupa: Different dimension! Quasarblast needs help!
Vil-Gil-An-T gasps.
Yumyulack/Vil-Gil-An-T: Korvo!
Jesse/Fung-irl: Terry! We gotta help them!
Yumyulack/Vil-Gil-An-T: But how do we get there? suddenly feels a fast motion in the wind
The three siblings turn around and sees Monica, in her own superhero speedster suit.
Monica/???: Need a lift?!
Jesse/Fung-irl: Monica?!
Monica/???: It’s Lightspeed now. You get the picture.
Fung-irl hugs Lightspeed as the two besties squeal.
Yumyulack/Vil-Gil-An-T: Come on guys! Let’s go get our dads back!
Monica/Lightspeed: Hold on tight guys!
Meanwhile… Quasarblast looks around the place while holding Cheery, who is moaning.
Korvo/Quasarblast: Terry?! Darling, where are you?! Terry?!
Quasarblast suddenly hears growling. Suddenly, Quasarblast hears four screaming, whooping and laughing voices as four colorful sparks appear and it shows Vil-Gil-An-T, Fung-irl, Mighty Pupa and Lightspeed.
Korvo/Quasarblast: Kids! Monica!
Yumyulack/Vil-Gil-An-T and Jesse/Fung-irl: Korvo!
Pupa/Mighty Pupa: Papa!
Monica/Lightspeed: You’re never gonna believe what happened!
The kids screams and cheers in joy as they hug Quasarblast.
Korvo/Quasarblast: Oh I can’t believe you guys are here! Are you okay?
Jesse/Fung-irl: Yeah. Where’s Terry?
Yumyulack/Vil-Gil-An-T: Is he here?!
Monica/Lightspeed: And we’re heroes now, like you!
Quasarblast smiles with tears in his eyes
Korvo/Quasarblast: Come here I am so proud of you guys!
The family and Lightspeed get into a group hug. Suddenly a guard appears flying while screaming and falling to the ground.
Yumyulack/Vil-Gil-An-T: What the shit?!
The family and Monica peeks through and sees a familiar Shlorpian wearing an orange superhero suit as he beats up the guards while growling.
Korvo/Quasarblast: TERRY!
Terry, or whoever he goes by now, growls as he throws a huge rock at the family and Lightspeed as they ducked.
Jesse/Fung-irl: Terry! Stop!
Yumyulack/Vil-Gil-An-T: It’s okay! It’s us your family!
But Terry is still growling and screams in rage. He smashes the ground with his fist as the family flies up with Fung-irl carrying Monica. Quasarblast then sees the solstice happening as he gasp in joy but then his skin starts turning black as he cries out in pain. But he is still determined.
Korvo/Quasarblast: I have to seal this thing away. For good.
Jesse/Fung-irl: Be careful Korvo! We’ll try to stop Terry! Go! Hurry!
Yumyulack/Vil-Gil-An-T: We got this!
Quasarblast nods and flies towards the solstice. Wings pop out as he screams in pain while fangs appear through his mouth.
Korvo/Quasarblast: Must…get there…
Then, he made it as the solstice glows.
Korvo/Quasarblast: Yes!
Meanwhile with the kids, they made it to Terry as they try to talk him down.
Jesse/Fung-irl: Terry! We’re here for you! It’s gonna be okay!
Yumyulack/Vil-Gil-An-T: We have get home!
Pupa/Mighty Pupa: Papa! Papa!
But Terry is too blinded by rage to listen and he lunges at Vil-Gil-An-T.
Yumyulack/Vil-Gil-An-T: Whoa! shoot his laser eyes at Terry Sorry buddy!
Jesse/Fung-irl: Man, so much rage!
Lightspeed then has an idea.
Monica/Lightspeed: looks at Qausarblast who is ready on sealing his beast within away I know what will calm him.
Back with Quasarblast…
Korvo/Quasarblast: Okay. Let’s do this.
Quasarblast screams as the spirit of the Super Shlorpian is released out of him.
Korvo/Quasablast: Okay! Okay, let’s do this!
The spirit is completely released from Quasarblast as he lets out a triumphant laugh.
Korvo/Quasarblast: side effects disappeared Yes! Yes! I’m finally cured! gasp upon seeing Terry and flies down here
Monica/Lightspeed: Quasarblast! Quick! Calm down Terry! You’re what calms him down!
Korvo/Quasarblast: Terry! No! You have to calm down! For me! Please!
Terry/???: snarls but then his expression softens upon seeing Quasarblast Huh?
Quasarblast smiles and then comes up and touches Terry’s face while soothing and calming him down.
Korvo/Quasarblast: Hey, darling. You okay?
Terry whimpers.
Korvo/Quasarblast: Shh… it’s okay… I’m here my love…
Quasarblast hugs Terry. Terry tearfully smiles as he and Quasarblast embrace in a kiss while moaning lovingly. Then, Terry’s sanity returns as he smiles at his husband.
Terry/???: Korvy…
Korvo/Quasarblast: smiling It’s alright honey. Terry smiles You’re safe.
The two husbands kiss again as Terry grabs Quasarblast’s ass.
Korvo/Quasarblast: giggles You bad dirty boy.
Terry/???: Hey, it’s not my fault I can’t resist this fine booty.
Korvo/Quasarblast: I know. And I love it when you do that.
Terry/???: Come here.
The two husbands kiss as Vil-Gil-An-T, Fung-irl and Mighty Pupa gasp in joy and went to embrace their dad.
Pupa/Mighty Pupa: Papas!
Yumyulack/Vil-Gil-An-T and Jesse/Fung-irl: Terry! You’re okay! Yay! We knew you were still in there! We knew It!
Terry smiles.
Terry/???: No way! Now our kids are heroes too?! You guys look amazing!
Jesse/Fung-irl: Thank you! I’m Fung-irl!
Yumyulack/Vil-Gil-An-T: sing-songy Vil-Gil-An-T!
Pupa/Might Pupa: MIGHTY PUPA! falls down
Terry/???: laughs as he picks Mighty Pupa, who giggles Got you lil buddy.
Monica/Lightspeed: Hi Terry.
Terry/???: Monica?!
Monica/Lightspeed: Actually I have speed powers now. I got super speed. And it’s Lightspeed now.
Korvo/Quasarblast: So, Terry, what do you want your superhero name to be?
Terry/???: Hmm… how about Mighton, because I have so much strength and might in myself.
Korvo/Quasarblast: Mmm, I love it. It’s so hot.
Terry/Mighton: Thank you Korvy. kiss Korvo on the neck
Quasarblast gasps and moans in pleasure. Mighton then looks at the sky as he starts singing
[MIGHTON]
Isn't truth supposed to set you free? Well, why do I feel so weighed down by it? If I could show them everything I've seen Open their eyes to all the lies, then Would they change their minds like I did?
But when I speak, they tell me, "Sit down." But how can I when I've already started runnin'? Oh, this is where we've been but it's not where we belong And I may be young but I know I'm not wrong
So I look up at the stars to guide me And throw caution to every warning sign If knowing what it could be is what drives me Then let me be the first to stand in line
So I make this wish To have something more for us than this So I make this wish To have something more for us than this
Hey, yeah, yeah, yeah Hey, yeah, yeah, yeah, ah-ah More than this, oh-ah-ah-ah
I never knew I needed room to grow Yeah, I did what I was told when someone told me "no" Now I've got all of this freedom in my bones But I've still got the lid on so it doesn't overflow
'Cause I've got reservations and hesitations On where I should even begin I'm past dipping my toes in But I'm not, no, I'm not past diving in
If I could just be pointed in any given direction On where to go and what to do My legs are shaking but my head's held high The way you always taught me to
So I look up at the stars to guide me And throw caution to every warning sign I'm sure there will be challenges that find me But I can take them on one at a time
So I make this wish To have something more for us than this So I make this wish To have something more for us than this
Hey, yeah, yeah, yeah (So I make this wish) Hey, yeah, yeah, yeah, ah-ah (To have something more) More than this, oh-ah-ah-ah
So I make this wish To have something more for us than this
Later, the others are waiting for their friends to come out.
Darcy: Come on guys!
Miss Frankie: Come on Quasarblast you can do it!
Principal Cooke: Oh God! I hope they found Cheery in time!
The group then sees the Mighty Solars.
Humans: gasp
Stacy G came with Louise, Trevor and Janice and gasp.
Principal Cooke: quietly No way…
Darcy: It’s true. There is more of them.
Mighton laughs
Terry/Mighton: That’s right!
Trevor: Guys! You made it!
Korvo/Quasarblast: And before we could die too.
The humans went to the Mighty Solars and praise them, even Miss Frankie.
Miss Frankie: screams in excitement but stops
Miss Frankie clears her throat. Stacy G gasp as she covers her mouth with her hands as she tears of joy upon seeing Jesse as Fung-irl. Stacy G hugs Fung-irl.
Jesse/Fung-irl: Hey Stacy G…
Stacy G: Hey, Jesse.
Jamie: Terry, you’re alive! And you look great in orange.
Terry/Mighton: Oh, thank you.
Miss Frankie: What took you guys so long?
Korvo/Quasarblast: It’s a long story.
He sighs in relief after seeing no side effects.
Korvo/Quasarblast: But I managed to seal up my Super Shlorpian form.
AISHA overhears this and gasps.
AISHA: to herself No! Korvo, what have you done?! Your Super Shlorpian spirit is your life source! Without it, you’ll die!
Elsewhere, Dr. Janiz feels something as she gasp.
???: What is Janiz?
Dr. Janiz: I think my brother has found me.
Dr. Kimber: Janiz? What is it?
Dr. Janiz: It’s my brother… suddenly feels something else that made her terrified Oh God no…
Dr. Kimber: What?! What’s wrong?!
Dr. Janiz: He sealed it up.
Dr. Kimber: Oh no… he’s in trouble. We better send MAX to them.
Dr. Janiz types on her keyboard while uploading something and a digital male voice is heard.
Dr. Janiz: MAX! Keep Korvo and his family safe! He is in danger!
MAX: Sure thing, Janiz!

Assignment 3 Postmortem
As most of my work on the game was based around visual/audio aspects, I found it alot easier to implement them as we already had our core gameplay loop implemented, with a wave system easily able to be added on top of my groupmates asteroids game. Yet again, pulling from the readings of chapter 7 did prove to be incredibly helpful. Due to the core gameplay being finished very early, my main aim was to ensure aspects such as design. visuals and sound complemented and worked off eachother, maintaining a retro-arcade feel. The 8-bit background, sprites, 12fps animations and sci-fi like block text maintained a congruent feel. If I was to change one thing about development, it would have been learning to depend on other software and materials to make drawing/resizing sprites easier. The sprites i used were 64x64, which looked too fuzzy when used in the game, so instead of looking for software that could upscale or resize without sacrificing resolution, I Instead redrew them to 128x128 where needed. This took a while, but let me have more control over the aesthetics of the game.
Design wise, I would have liked to have added more sound effects and varying body types for the player, as there were different enemies but only one player model. A moving tiled background would have been nice, providing more immersion as if you are drifting through space.

Obstructive Sleep Apnea Overview Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) happens to be the most common of all the other kinds of sleep apnea – with the other types of OSA being mixed sleep apnea and central sleep apnea. Garvey, Pengo, Drakatos and Kent (2015) point out that as a matter of fact, there is evidence to suggest that it is the most common respiratory disorder. This, in the words of the authors, is more so the case given “recent data from the United States and Europe suggesting that between 14% and 49% of middle-aged men have clinically significant OSA” (Garvey, Pengo, Drakatos and Kent, 2015, p. 274). Breathing Cessations and Severity Assessment In basic terms, OSA involves periodic breathing cessations during sleep – with the occurrence (and the number) of the said cessations varying significantly. Most cases of OSA go unrecognized, effectively meaning that a very small percentage of those suffering from the same seek medical attention. According to Garvey, Pengo, Drakatos and Kent (2015), the severity of sleep apnea “is usually assessed by the apnea-hypopnoea index (AHI) which is the number of complete (apneas) or incomplete (hypopneas) obstructive events per hour of sleep” (275). Symptoms OSA comes about when, during sleep, an individual’s airways are either partially or completely blocked. In this case, the relaxation of the muscles in the throat triggers the ‘sagging’ or falling back of either the throat’s fatty tissues and/or tongue into an individual’s airways – effectively obstructing airflow. When this occurs, the brain is signaled to awaken partially, with the result being snorting, choking, as well as gasping as the body attempts to restore airflow. This can occur numerous times during a single night. There are several symptoms associated with OSA. Some of the more common symptoms identified by Silber, Krahn, and Morgenthaler (2016) include, but they are not limited to, nighttime sweating, loud snoring, morning headaches, high blood pressure, sore throat and a dry mouth in the morning, chocking and gasping after waking up abruptly, decreased libido, as well as excessive sleepiness and fatigue during the day. Diagnosis There are several diagnostic tests that could be ordered in primary care. Evaluations are founded on not only the signs and symptoms presented by the patient, but also on various examinations and tests. Physical examination could be inclusive of an observation of the patient’s throat, nose, as well as mouth for any abnormality. Routinely, a blood pressure reading is also taken. Tests could be inclusive of polysomnography which is “the recording of multiple physiologic parameters during sleep” (Silber, Krahn, and Morgenthaler, 2016, p. 34). Treatment The relevance of seeking treatment for OSA cannot be overstated. This is more so the case given that as Garvey, Pengo, Drakatos, and Kent (2015), point out, in addition to being at a higher risk of motor vehicle accidents, untreated patients are also “more likely to die of cardiovascular disease” (278). The treatment plan could incorporate CPAP machine and nasal sprays (in instances involving nasal congestion). There is also need for the individual suffering from OSA to reduce weight if they happen to be obese. This is more so the case given that “weight loss improves symptoms and morbidity in all patients with obesity and bariatric surgery is an option in severe obesity” (Garvey, Pengo, Drakatos and Kent, 2015, p. 274). Other lifestyle changes that could improve the treatment outcomes include quitting smoking, moderate drinking, and regular exercises. References Garvey, J.F., Pengo, M.F., Drakatos, P. & Kent, B.D. The tweet is by la sirenita. It reads: “Kids need civil rights reason #572882: you can't say you believe children are people while tying their personhood to their parent's desires. Same argument people used to make about women.”
The reply is by evil scientist. It reads: “.....kids dont have civil rights in the USA? You guys don't.... You guys don't have a statute for kids and teens????”
The map is titled as “Convention on the Rights of the Child”. It has three colors: orange for non signatory, purple for signed but not ratified, and green for parties to the convention. The United States is the only purple country.
The article is titled, “The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child”. The text shown reads: “Opponents argue that ratification would undermine U.S. sovereignty by giving the United Nations authority to determine the best interests of U.S. children. Some are also concerned that CRC could interfere in the private lives of families, particularly the rights of parents to educate or discipline their children.” End ID]

Platformer - Postmortem
When making the prototype for Hopping Back Home, I learnt a lot of things about how to prototype a game. I tried to focus on getting the main mechanics of the game working, especially the main mechanic of the frog’s tongue moving the lilypad which is one of the features I struggled the most with. But once I got the main mechanic working, I could turn my attention onto smaller features that are still necessary for the prototype.
However, I think that I probably focused too much on details I didn’t need in a prototype. Like having a start screen definitely wasn’t something I needed for a prototype, and I probably just wasted time making it, but the only reason I decided to include one is to add a how to play section into the prototype since when playtesting, the players didn’t understand what controls to use. Next time I would go from a different approach and try to make a more built-in way to help the player learn the controls within the game.
While reading the textbook, Game Design Workshop: A Playcentric Approach to Creating Innovative Games, I realised that if I used more effective interface design, I would be able to communicate key information to players. This is especially important to incorporate in the prototype since it would have been incredibly useful to learn about how players to learn the controls and the mechanics of the game through the interface instead of just reading some text, and this wasn’t something I realised sooner Something I would change if I were to change this prototype would be the mechanic of moving the lilypads. The whole prototype didn’t really capture the feeling I was aiming for the player to feel when playing the game. The player goal I originally had in mind was for the player to feel challenged and to feel like they could come up with creative ways to solve puzzles in the game. I tried to give the players this feeling by giving them the ability to move around the platforms. But in the prototype, this mechanic was very limited in what the player could do. Players could move the platforms towards them. But that was it. There would only be one option for where the platforms could go. This didn’t give the players the freedom I wanted them to have, and it didn’t give them any challenge at all. So that’s why, in the future I will focus on making sure that I always keep in mind the player goal when prototyping so that I can properly capture that experience I want to give the player.

Week 4: Platformer Development: Playtesting
In chapter 1 of her Game Design Workshop, Fullerton explains that a key component to playcentric design early playtesting. This playcentric approach is crucial to help foster innovation. When I playtested with some classmates, one of the most common flaws was one of my obstacles, which was almost impossible to defeat, as there was no clear ways to bypass it. This made me realise that players will always experience the game differently to myself and I always have to keep their perspective in mind. Therefore, I added some text as a small hint to provide some guidance. The play testers also recommended that I should add some background noise to add more intensity to the game. While watching them play, I realised just some text explaining “you died” is very boring. Rather, the play testers agreed animated player deaths, along with sound effects, would be more engaging. However, all players liked the simple movement, using just a few keys, so they could focus more on what was happening on their screen.
Next, I will post an update on my overall thoughts on how my game turned out.

Platformer Development Post
I started working on my platformer in GDevelop. Things have gone relatively smoothly however, I had come across a couple issues. Firstly, when I tried to make the sprites for the platforms, they wouldn't line up cleanly and had multiple gaps between each connection. I quickly figured out that was due to me leaving gaps in the editor which caused the bricks to be disjointed... a silly mistake but a quick one to fix. I quicky put the first level together with the use of platforms and a sprite which I assigned as the player, here is a preview of the first level:
Something I learnt in GDevelop is that I rebind the character from arow keys to W,A,S and D which feels much more natural.
The next thing to give me trouble was the spikes. I wanted to make it so if the player lands on the spikes, it is considered a game over/fail. This was trickier than I thought it would have been but in the end I was able to make it so the level ends if the player touches the spike. Here is how I did it:
youtube
With all that put together, here is a demo of the level so far:
I have made quite a bit of progress but I still am yet to add the coins, the finish point, and a few other things. Something that inspired me from my reading is Chapter 8's section called side views and it explains how it "leaves a significant amount of cognitive effort for solving complex puzzles and other forms of play." (Fullerton, 2018). This inspired me to make challenging puzzles that will challenge the brains of my players. Fullerton, Tracy. first elevator pitch‼️
hi !! for my current unit, IGB120, we are making a platformer prototype using the game engine GDevelop. my readings of Tracy Fullerton's Game Design Workshop: A Playcentric Approach to Creating Innovative Games have guided and influenced how i approach the prototyping process - to follow her playcentric design process, i have set the following player experience goals:
players will feel a sense of tension and pressure when playing the game
players will have to utilise their surroundings to progress
title: 0007
0007 is a fast-paced, techno-futuristic 2D platformer game where you attempt to escape a distorted, labyrinthine server room whilst being hunted by a "malfunctioning" AGI computer. you must fight back against robots controlled by this sentient machine while searching for an exit as quickly as possible. improvise weapons, evade bloodthirsty robots, and navigate twisting turns and dead ends whilst deciding both your own fate and that of the AGI hunting you.
controls
A and D keys to move left and right
spacebar to jump
left mouse click to attack
three unique selling points
the player decides the ending of the game - whether to spare or destroy the AGI, with either option having their own consequences
narrative and lore - as the player progresses, the history behind the AGI and the backstory of the game will be slowly revealed
improvised weapons - the player can find and fight back against oncoming enemies with weapons hidden throughout the levels
(0007 = sad Mac error subcode that signifies a privilege violation)

Notes on This Bridge Called My Back: Writings by Radical Women of Color 4th Edition (2015)
Edited by Cherríe Morage & Gloria Anzaldúa

Here is a link to a digital version of the first edition of this text. It is slightly different from the text I have.
From Catching Fire: Preface to the 4th Edition by Cherríe Moraga.
Cherríe Morage is a chicana lesbian from the US. She was 27 years old when publishing the first edition of This Bridge Called My Back (TBCMB).

"Egypt is burning/bonfires of celebration/ignited with the tinder/of that first/single/enflamed body/Tunisia."
Moraga starts this edition reflecting on the Egyptian Revolution and Tahir Square and how it is inspiring and somewhat satisfying to her.
She then discusses the first edition of TBCMB and how it was "penned...with similar hope for revolutionary solidarity." It was an effort to create a "shared political voice" for women of color in the US. Women of Color having evolved to be more explicitly transnational.
Moraga discusses how the world has changed since the original publishing in 1981. Fax machines, mass access to the internet, social media, cell phones, "Occupy" Wall Street, the invasion of Iraq, Afghanistan Grenada, Kuwait and Panama by the US, the AIDS/HIV pandemic, No Child Left Behind, the removal on the ban of corporate political spending by the Supreme Court, NAFTA betraying Mexico, the CIA aiding in the dismantling of Sandinista in Nicaragua, Hurricane Katrina, the Tea Party (which low-key evolved into MAGA), the US PATRIOT Act, and the gutting of the Voting Rights Act.... so many changes. So many lost battles and loaded guns.
Moraga notes:
"...it appears that today our identities are shaped less by an engaged democratic citizenship and more by our role as consumers."xvii-xviii
"Social change does not occur through tokenism or exceptions to the rule of discrimination, but through the systemic abolishment of the rule itself." xviii
"As I age, I watch the divide between generations widen with time and technology." xix
"I watch how desperately we need political memory...so we can enter upon an informed and re-envisioned strategy for social/political change in decades ahead."xix
"Ten years before TBCMB, the Third World Women's Alliance had already begun publishing Triple Jeopardy newspaper, l.inking "Racism, Imperialism, and Sexism" to domestic worker and welfare rights...In 1981, we were the inheritors of that vision. And it is my hope that h=the young readers of the 4th edition of TBCMB will be inheritors of ours, informed by a twenty-first century perspective of mind and heart." xxi

"...the oppression we experienced as human beings was not always materially manifested, and that we also suffered spiritually and sexually." xxi
Moraga also cites the Cohambee River Collective (CRC): "If Black [Indigenous] women were free...everyone else would have to be free since our freedom would necessitate the destruction of all the systems of oppression." (is this not afropessimism?) In her notes to this passage Moraga states "Black women are Indigenous women, once forcibly removed from their ancestral homeland. If not in the specifics, the major ideological tenets of the 1977 CRC statement can serve as a treatise for Indigenous women's rights movements globally."
"Refugees of a world on Fire." This is how I understood US woman of color citizenship in the early 1980s...It is also promised in the spirit of those young people who may first pick up this collection of poems, protests, and prayers and sudden;y, without warning, feel their own consciousness catch fire."
Foreword to the First Edition, 1981
by Toni Cade Bambara

"How I cherish this collection of cables, esoesses, conjurations and fusil missiles."
"...Sisters of the yam Sisters of the rice Sisters of the corn Sisters of the plantain..."
"TBCMB documents particular rites of passage...And coming to terms with the incorporation of disease, struggling to overthrow the internal colonial/pro-racist loyalties -- color/hue/hair caste within the household, power perversities engaged in under the guise of "personal relationships", accommodation to and collaboration with self ambush and amnesia and murder. And coming to grips with those false awakenings too that give us ease we substitute a militant mouth for a radical politic, delaying pour true coming of age as committed, competent, principled combatants." xxx
"There is more than a hint in these pages that too many of us equate tone with substance...it takes more than pique to unite our wrath and to wrest power from those who have it and abuse it, to reclaim our ancient powers lying dormant with neglect, and create new powers in arenas where they never existed before." xxx
"TBCMB...can coax us into the habit of listening to each other and learning each other's ways of seeing and being." xxxi
"As we heard each other in that rainbow attempt under the auspices of IFCO years ago...and before that when New Orleans African women and Yamassee and Yamacrow women went into the swamps to meet with Filipino wives of "draftees" and "defectors" during the so called French and Indian War." xxxi
"The work: To make revolution irresistible." xxxi
