CLICK SUBSCRIBE! Hi Guys, Today, a look at how to create colourful and interesting jazz/fusion chords: Because, we are dealing with jazz/fusion we will manipulate a scale in modal form. This will be C Mixolydian: Now, let’s add one note above each note of the mode and create 3rds. [Here we can hear the mode in double stops]. Marina Dyachenko and Sergey Dyachenko, Vita Nostra (tr. Julia Meitov Hersey) • Mircea Suciu, Camouflage (2) • Agostino Arrivabene, Immutatio • Matthias Claudius, "Der Tod und Das Mädchen" • Henry Fuseli, The Nightmare • Dragan Bibin, Pull (edited) • Maria Kreyn, Angel's Back • Franz Wimmer, Death and the Maiden • Mel Chin, Bat and Dove • Ana Sanchez, Death and the Maiden
#vita nostra#death and the maiden#the gothic imagination#some dread chord#compilations#web weaving#marina dyachenko#sergey dyachenko#henry fuseli#dragan bibin#franz wimmer#myedit#lit tag#litedit#bookedit#quotes one compiles while listening to the lexa lexie edit of house of metal 🎶#VN's themes of fear and metamorphosis got me thinking#beyond the fourth wall breaking+gnosticism aspects‚ it's ultimately a coming of age story right (or coming of Self if we're being literal)#and i would argue the figure of death / metamorphosis (oftentimes one and the same) is a key element in such a narrative#we see the terror turn into begrudging acceptance of the metamorphosis#and sasha does accept it‚ to a degree. to the degree that kostya remarks on how alike she and farit have become#but the story does not end at her acceptance. it ends with her reaching beyond it (esp with the final lines of the book):#“The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it. [...] Do not be afraid.”#the idea that 'yes you are the final law of this world but not of them all. i can create another one'#also some of the other elements to consider wrt the figure of death concept:#the coins necessary for admittance to the university (reminiscent of those given to the dead as a payment for the ferryman)#+ the instances farit's appearance is likened to an illuminated skull (one of the most harrowing being the last temptation offer to sasha)#+ the students almost being considered dead to the outside world once they cross the threshold of the town#idk it's just a really interesting aspect for me#realizing i probably went a little overboard with all the quotes. well. just know that i had to hold myself back from adding even more 👩🏻💻

do u post anywhere other than tumblr?
not rly, the reason I left tumblr back in 2014 is because I had begun to find it really difficult to cope with social media as a general concept,
like when you think about it it is pretty unsettling that hundreds or even thousands of people are looking at your thoughts and feelings and then deliberating each time on whether not they approve of them, and if they do it’s fed back to you through your notifications. it’s kinda a sweet trap for people with a predilection for social anxiety since it offers a way to communicate without face-to-face interaction but as you become more engrossed in it it begins to pick at your over-awareness like a scab
#i decided to answer this srsly idk why#at most I’ll drop a comment on a manga site or something.#i did have various 4ch phases in the 10s and many a popular meme image or transparent anime reaction image was created by me#I still see them all over the place#if this strikes a chord with anyone going through something similar my recommendation is to learn how to post and ghost#that’s what helped me

Hey, I noticed that Inklings/Cuttleling/Octolings all have both a Syrinx and a Larynx, what does that means for their voices?
they all garbly like in the games :)
Having two vocal organs (link to that post in case anyone else is confused, it's old but still holds up) allows inkfish access to a much greater vocal range than with just one organ, like humans have.
As a result not only are inkfish languages operating on an additional layer of complexity (i explain that in the post link it's a long story lmao), but the language itself is physically impossible for a human (and many other extant species, sadly) to pronounce.
They are also excellent mimics! bird calls, other people's voices, annoying phone ringtones are all their specialty :).
SO yeah, their voices/language sound just like they do in the games; a distinct, typically high-pitched warble with a bassy, garbled undertone for additional contextual meaning.
#maybe i might flesh out actual aspects of their language/s if i get insane enough one day#perhaps... perhaps#creating a conlang spoken by species with vastly different vocal chords may be a bit out of my scope though LMAO#splatoon#speculative biology#inbox chatter

i'm sorry to be a cringe fnf madness fan on main but i need the world to hear my vision. the chromatics for hank in assassination by punkett are exactly how i headcanon their voice. low, smooth, sounds like it reverberates in their chest in such a pleasant way. it's a little dreamy..
#as for the more popular “antipathy” mod i do see that being closer to their sound post-mc6#their vocal chords being fried creates that rasping..#i just love hank. i know i don't stop yapping about 2b but.. hank..#fractaletxt#hank j wimbleton

My feluka brainrot is imagining a Felix and Luka dynamic that alludes to the Greek mythology of how Argos was put to sleep by a musician (Hermes) who, by the way, also invented the lyre :D
#I've had this brainrot for YEARS#Like the lyre is strongly associated with Apollo etc. But it was Hermes who created it.#I love the idea of Luka getting past Felix's defences by strumming a few chords (both metaphorically and physically)#mirculous ladybug#feluka#viperion#argos#luka couffaine#felix fathom#felix graham de vanily

I think it’s interesting that the stuff you’re influenced by and love is not the same type of stuff that you yourself might create. Like you might really love jazz music, but what comes to you most creatively might be making rock music. I just think it’s interesting how things translate and what comes naturally to one person doesn’t to another.
#creating is interesting#the creative process is interesting#I really want to make music at some point in my life#I’ve never really done it#well except when I was in 6th grade I wrote a little song with like three chords that was simple#but it was jesusy cuz I was raised xtian and I wasn’t really proud of it either so I don’t count that#it was for a talent show too. of course I obviously did not win XD#I won a poetry contest once though#would anyone be interested in seeing the old poem I wrote in high school lol#now I’m rambling

but I want to have knowledge of music on an intermediate level nowwwww
#god every time I watch a music theory essay I'm like brilliant! I don't understand any of this#why am I. a beginner. not grasping the significance of moving to an f sharp augmented 7th chord#I have a desperate need to dig into the meat of things and be able to perfectly articulate my own thoughts#so in practice. I could have a decent shot at creating a sound I want to make !#I know which progressions sound good. I know what sounds trigger which emotions#but I also know that there are things I Don't know yet that I need to in order to get things right and express what they are! aaa!#it's like if I wanted to paint a tree and I know leaves are typically green but didn't have the knowledge to mix blue and yellow

Taylor returning over and over to the falling through the ice accident in the Bolter—everything to me
#like. just. the shock of it all#there’s something about Taylor where her experience of life is so ….. brutal#like I don’t know how else to say it but it just is. life is not easy on her it is always ready to CLOBBER her#and in a way she’s not easy on life. there’s some kind of magnets/opposite poles stuff where she’s just always drawn to the worst things#to feeling them and experiencing them and almost ??? creating them#like I don’t mean to overstate it. and I know she has a family who loves her (thank GOD)#and also she’s very practical and industrious about creating this very Instagram worthy life full of Fine Things and a Fun Time#and of course all the resources in the world at her disposal to create all the trappings of it#whether it’s a celebrity Fourth of July party or the eras tour#and she’ll do it and love it. but as all the best critics know and point out the most fascinating thing about Taylor is always the music#and it’s where all the weirdness and stubbornness and difficulties of her life. her a c t u a l longings her actual fears#her actual terrible awful experiences that she charges headlong down the paths of#is set free! and it’s breathtaking in the most shocking way#like falling through the ice! I always say the first thing that always hits me about a Taylor album is the bitterness#just this blast in the face. and her music is so gentle! in so many ways#and the packaging is so appealing and her voice is so soft and expressive and there is none of that weird experimentation#even musically (remember when she shut down imogen heap for putting a minor chord in clean she was like absolutely not. I’m obsessed)#(with that moment forever)#but like. so much of Taylor’s packaging and life and HER really does SEEM so basic or ordinary or just rich girl ordinary I guess#she likes basic things and wants basic things. but also she is so hungry so restless so angry so wounded the rich internal life is CHURNING#all the time. every second. and it’s spectacular to watch and also I will worry about her until the day I die#or just—-I don’t know. it’s going to be spectacular and it is sometimes going to be awful#but she will keep furiously writing her way through it!!#there IS such a woundedness to her. and it makes me love her so much because it’s packaged in such a way people think it must just be#whining or privilege. but it’s not! it’s just. the human condition and Taylor’s own flaws#okay I’ve lost the plot here a bit in my ramblings but yeah the ice metaphor. insanely perfect

Hey. Hey guys. I play discordant days on repeat. Until they look like harmony. Because, when the river runs dry and the curtain is called, how will I know if I can't see the bottom. I come up for air and choke on it all no oNE ELSE KNOWS THAT I'VE GOT A PROBLEM. WHAT IF I CAN'T!!!! GET UP AND STAND TALL!!!!!!!!!! WHAT IF THE DIAMOND DAYS ARE ALL GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
#save me 'damocles' by sleep token#save me...........#every time an artist makes a song about their complicated relationship with art/fame/success/creating in general. an angel gets wings.#it's also very funny that he says 'I know these chords are boring' and like. my dude. you PUT something in the chorus arpeggios#they don't SOUND boring. (because it's about how you USE musical elements. and if you use simpler building blocks. it can still#be effective. I'm too foggy™ rn to explain this but this is effective because of the switch between the amount of movement in the#instrumental backing/how the other instruments are layered in progressively throughout the song)#unhinged lady screams about music

it's so worth listening to almost 4 minutes of SHC by foster the people just for the payoff of "do you want to live forever?"
#like the rest of the song is good too but this line's lived in my head rent free since hs#the chord progression there#*patrick bateman voice* the song is not about a relationship with another person as it may seem at first flush but is actually about the#-creative process (a theme present in many ftp songs) and how 'living life' can be interpreted both as creating things and as loving#-life itself - and in this interpretation the phrase 'do you want to live forever' is an invitation to keep creating#-and keeping that love open#the line 'i want to do it again' is about keeping that openmindedness towards positive things alive and a willingness to try again#ftp is very i feel 'the curtains were blue' at times but i eat it up always#loyal like sid and nancy.... very 2016-2017 politics#yap#music tag

Immune to the psychic damage of pitchfork reviews because i cannot take a reviewer seriously if they dont actually talk about music as in the musical construction of a song the elements that go into it the key the tone like GOD what is the point of writing about music if you arent going to engage with composing as a craft
#idk if this is controversial but i really am not bothered by mediocre lyrics if the sound is good#though mediocre is also subjective and i accept also that sometimes an artists use of language is just not easily understandable to me#but also i really could not care if i do genuinely find the lyrics to be clunky or if there are only like 3 sentences repeated over#is the sound there is it rich does it spark something in me do the vocals enhance the sound does the sound enhance the vocals#does it do something interesting or unexpected with the chords the key etc etc these are the things i think matter#tbh i do not think carly rae jepsen is a brilliant lyricist not bad at all just not brilliant but it doesnt matter its irrelevant because#she gets it she knows the genres she is working with and i think she does something interesting with it while still creating songs that have#that classic fun and dance-ability to them

There must be some sort of latent programming in the human brain that makes us constantly try to turn every great innovation into hell on earth. I think this might even transcend ideology: Even if we were in the Global Communist Utopia someone would still try to Tower of Babel our collective asses because it might make a number somewhere go up half an integer. We're waging Flower Wars against our own sanity, and maybe at this point I'm going to swallow my pride and say Jung was right about if not everything, then at least a few salient points hither and yon.
#advertising was created by Satan or Ialdabaoth or some comparable figure#wastes your limited lifespan and brainspace on idiotic jingles#it is literally psychological terrorism#i will die on this hill and my rotting corpse will continue to harp on this chord

Look, I always was, am and will be a particularly loud advocate of empathy, but let's not try to force it or perform mental gymnastics to imitate it. Sympathy will sometimes be all you can express to someone and that's fine.
#the next time someone tries to pass off a general flaw of the average human mind as a memory issue i swear i'm gonna officially lose it#you can't just shamelessly pass the boundary towards pity and expect me not to notice it(P.S. just ignore the rest)#how do people not realize even when i tell them#no matter how intense the love for the things i'm passionate about are... there's still that lingering doubt.#because i notice the sheer quantity of holes. the overwhelming inefficiencies.#em yaps#em hisses#how a buddy of mine i just talked w can insert a reference to a meme he's last seen in 2019 in his sentence like it was no big deal to him.#how he can effortlessly recognize a specific chord progression from a random song he hasn't listened to in years.#how he can quote an entire page word by word from a novel he read once back in 2021. without actively trying to learn it mind you.#how i can respond back with a love-filled rant about a piece of media of the same size and complexity‚ but it takes me 5 times as long#and not due to my inferior eloquence or writing skills as much i'd love to blame it on that since I KNOW I can fix such an issue given time#but because every 2nd word escapes my grasp before fading away into nothingness. then i have to fight my way through the maze in hopes of#restoring some of it.#AND THESE ARE JUST THE SMALL THINGS(:! but when you add them up that difference makes him more of who he is. more of a person. more. human.#.....................................................................................................#...and the truly detrimental stuff? how trying to recall 3/4 of my life feels like looking at TV static? how I can't picture the faces of#those who were once integral parts of said life? their faces‚ voices‚ mannerisms. all that seems to remain as proof of their existence#are these holes. knowing something was present in those places‚ once upon a time.#how i can't build what I could proudly call myself if the foundation keeps crumbling down before i could create anything meaningful?#he could never experience that feeling. even if he wanted to. and that's fine. he just needs to understand.#if only he could understand THAT.#though he's only really an example among the many

Deutscher's Cinderella but the "special" chord in Cinderella's song to the Prince Charming™ is a Tristan chord.
#i haven't watched the whole opera so gimme a break#raya shitposts#cinderella#alma deutscher#tristan chord#if you're gonna hammer in the specialness of a chord then at least create a chord that will have musicologists fight over it for centuries#the salieri complex is strong with this one i guess#oof now it hits me that some of this shitpost might be in poor taste in some ways (*cough* wagner *cough*)
