So about Zack and Ivy in the Boston Tea Party Caper
“Hey! Could you loan me some - gah! Nevermind…”
Idk why, but that line and delivery always makes me laugh.
Ngl, I think it’s a unique way to present the idea that Zack and Ivy are orphans right off the bat to Carmen without making the scene so dramatic and long. Think it could also classify as a little dark humour considering how the show tried to be somewhat lighthearted for the most part.
Also the look Carmen gives before she says “Understood”… yeah, it’s a good juxtaposition of the situation. The line delivery is comedic but the topic and impact is kinda sad to think about. Would have been a good opportunity to shed light on how people use humour to cope (… ahem…. Missing opportunity… AHEM!)
I understand that missing parents is a tough topic to talk about for some or all but I though it was nice they shed light on it without making it too depressing or drag it on for too long.
Granted it would have been interesting to see how them being orphans would have an impact on their personalities in the long term and their relationships with other characters.

What's your issue with the skire community? I've only become active again recently and everyone's been really nice so far
From personal experience + horror stories from friends, the community has a lot of issues..
A lot of the community consists of adults who whine about not getting something they wanted, rude members, the list goes on…
I have one or two friends/acquaintances who are in the community, and they’ve been the few exceptions I’ve had so far, but they’ve also had a lot of their own negative experiences within the community so.. I guess it varies by person?

infold is starting to get extremely greedy and i’m getting fed up. there rlly should have been no reason in the last event we did the whole interrogation process to get absolutely nothing in return. like damn, we couldn’t get the mullets doing that? the outfits? and them making the outfits separate from the hair rlly blew me. they’ll find any way to make everything harder to obtain. the pity system is bullshit, the new rerun wish pool apparently goes nowhere and is a waste of money. then they’ll have the nerve to say ‘ don’t get addicted :) ' BUT I AM BC YOU ARENT MAKING IT EASY FOR ME TO GET WHAT I WANT.
not to mention the ppl who are seeing the hype of this game and are joining late not being able to obtain the old five star cards, let alone their LORE. how tf are ppl supposed to know what’s going on?? the same way we can use stardust to buy some five star cards, YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO THE SAME FOR EVERY OLD EVENT CARD.

Have you ever planned and written something for a story with all your plans, plot points, and ideas and have LITERALLY ALL OF SAID IDEAS AND PLANS pop up in a show you look up to?
I HAVE. AND I AM SO AMAZED AND SO HAPPY MY IDEAS SHOWED UP BUT IM ALSO GOING FUCKING INSANE OVER IT
/NEG
LITERALLY EVERYTHING. AND I MEAN EVERYTHING I HAD PLANNED FOR MY AU SHOWED UP ONE WAY OR ANOTHER IN ARCANE. EVERY BIT OF MY AU. ALL MY IDEAS AND PLANS. IM NOT EVEN EXAGGERATING.
THE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENTS, THE DYNAMICS, THE PLOT POINTS, LITERALLY EVERYTHING I HAD PLANNED FOR CS-BLANK-AU SHOWED UP IN ARCANE.
I'll calm down for this bit. There's both a positive and negative side to me seeing Arcane on Netflix that is related to me writing my AU. Let's talk about it
Upside: I feel like i ended up predicting the show! And it played out SO WELL for Arcane and the development of all characters, plots, and dynamics for literally everyone in the show. I feel so amazed that my ideas for my upcoming projects related to CS-BLANK-AU ended up showing up in such a life changing show such as Arcane
Downside: Now that Arcane has released such an amazing piece of media, i feel like i'm stealing my own plans because someone beat me to it. It feels selfish of me to feel this way. Yes the context is different for Arcane and CS-BLANK-AU, Yes they're different in their own ways, but i can't help but feel like i'm stealing and that i was stolen from.
I understand that nobody owns ideas and that people are capable of having the same ideas without ever knowing someone else had the idea. But this had taken a mental toll on me because of the fact that this both proves that my skills (in the context of Art and Writing) and creative thinking are at the very least, good; and that Arcane is amazing in all the ways ineffable to me and has quite literally changed my life. (ESPECIALLY AS SOMEONE WHO DEEPLY RELATES TO JINX.)
The worst part about this is that someone beat me to it. and now that Arcane is published, whatever i have already written for CS-BLANK-AU will end up looking like i just ctrl c + ctrl v'ed it from Arcane. Straight up plagiarism.
A project i've been working on solo since August 2023 will end up looking like a copied version of Arcane. I'm torn because of it.
Don't get me wrong, i still love Arcane with all my heart. i love the artworks, the animation, the storytelling, and the characters. honestly i love everything about it in such a deep level because of everything between the lines in it. But i can't help but feel hurt.
I won, but at what cost?

mini rant but i fucking HATE the orv la. okay, fuck, scratch that, i'm not even gonna ASSOCIATE it with orv. that, thing. for one, and most obvious for currently going trending on twitter; the fucking GUNS. HELLO? are they not rich enough to get sword props? did they even read the source material?? theyre not just using swords because why the fuck not you know there's like actual reasons that are deeply rooted into worldbuilding and when you willy nilly decide to change them into guns and still expect to be able to just skirt off with the original plot then you are fucking mistaken. like there are constellations that have weapon specific stigmas and characters w weapon specific skills like why the fuck did you give lee jihye of all people a gun too ofmgnjfjg like what is she gonna do with that thing??????
i wont say anything about the casting because ive already gone through all five stages of grief and i think if i start thinking about it again im gonna go through it for the 100th time haha... hah.....

HELLO MOOT 🫴 How do you feel about Cyprian (im normal about him)
I have very strong feelings about this lol. I try to remind myself that he is only a kid. People on here always mention how he was brainwashed his whole life so of course he would believe that betraying Will was the right thing to do.
But even knowing this. In a very real sense he annoys me sooo much. I think his lack of critical thinking skills is very deliberate on Pacat's part as like I said, he is just a brainwashed kid. But god. Some random person shows up and you decide to immediately believe them and forget everything you know about your friend? I think what annoys me the most though is the fact he drank from the cup. Like YOU KNOW doing this will give you a shadow and the dark king is able to control shadows AND YOU STILL DRINK FROM THE CUP? come on now
Do I understand why he is the way he is: yes. Do I like him: absolutely not. But it's okay because not all characters are written to be likeable

i feel like i'm missing something here but why the flip are all the new fence issues ‘#1’ like surely sweet sixteen is #2 since it's also in the ‘challengers’ comic??
it would make slightly more sense if they were just sub-issues of ‘long shot’ and ‘sweet sixteen’ but now we're getting breakthrough and starting a new thing?

A rant on Carmen Sandiego's S1 E1 Cold Open (Spoilers)
A cold open refers to jumping into a story before opening credits or title
Another analysis rant! This time where it all began. So I know a lot of people have praised the first 2 pilot episodes but I like to put my own take on why the show's cold open worked so well (In my opinion).
According to the internet, a cold open needs to:
Engage the Audience Quickly: It should immediately capture interest, whether through humor, drama, action, or suspense.
Set the Tone: It establishes the emotional or thematic mood for the rest of the episode or film (e.g., funny, intense, mysterious).
Introduce Key Themes or Plotlines: Sometimes, a cold open hints at a story arc or central conflict that will unfold, but it should never give away too much.
Provide a Hook: Leave the audience wanting to see what happens next. It can either resolve quickly or leave a lingering question.
Be Short and Sweet: A cold open is typically brief, setting up just enough to intrigue without overloading the audience.
Here's how I think they did it:
The show starts by showing off its art style throughout the cold open which hooks art enthusiasts. Some of the more visual stunning shots used in reviews I've seen can be traced to this episode.
It introduces the plot of Carmen being a master thief chased by the police without giving away too much more. This is done from descriptions from Jules and Devineaux and brief images of Carmen which make her reveal all the more stunning.
It hooks older audiences given that it makes references to her previous incarnations such as the fact that she "leaves clues and wears bold colors".
The introduction of the characters are also very well done:
Chase is presented as an overconfident "professional" from how he says "the game is over" and how he talks down to Jules.
Jules is presented as a soft spoken, intelligent "amateur" based on the fact that she's only been at Interpol "for a fortnight" and her small info history dump about Poitiers... (That is not an attack - I genuinely like history facts I SWEAR!)
Carmen is presented as a suave, cultured and (dare I say) attractive thief in the first shot she is introduced in. Her introduction still gives me chills with the way the camera moves and the music builds up.
5. The cold open sets the tone which balances the action and humor. This can be seen in the chase between Devineax and Carmen.
Alright here is the part where I rant and try to analyse the opening (feel free to add your analysis as well)
As mentioned earlier, Carmen's introduction is just perfect... and probably gave some people gay awakenings... from what I've heard.
When she's robbing the museum, we see how deadly her job is... yet fun!
Chase's quote of " Why must the elevator date back two centuries? WAS NO ONE EVER IN A HURRY BACK THEN!?!?" not only gives insight into his rush before thinking personality but also is one of the funniest line deliveries in the show and is underrated.
Just as Carmen is about to steal the diamond, she is caught off guard by her dolls. On first watch the viewer is drawn in by its mystery but on rewatch, knowing her backstory - I realised the shots used for her dolls and the diamond might have symbolism.
The diamond is bright and obvious which might make the viewer take as her target and overall goal.
The dolls however are in the dark - first time viewer would take it as mystery. Once you know her dolls are her connection to her past, the dolls in the shadows could represent how Carmen was "in the dark" about her past. She didn't know anything about her dad or deeper connection to VILE.
The chase scene between Carmen and Devineaux does a good job at further establishing characters and tone of the show. Throughout the chase, Carmen is presented as experienced and swift yet likes to taunt her enemies while Chase is shown as determined and... well, less experienced when it comes to super thieves.
The chase scene also uses music, which can be seen in depending who the camera is focused on, to present characters (any music professionals - please help. I am not one):
Carmen - quite elegant with plucky melody presenting accuracy and experience.
Chase - Sounds deep. Maybe a little saxophone and deep bass? Presents grit?
The chase ends with Carmen's "Au revoir" highlighting her taunting and being cultured. It also ends with Devineaux falling to his car - setting off my favorite running gag of car destruction and reminding the viewers that this show has cartoon logic.
I was writing an analysis on the entire 2 episode pilot at one point but I got busy. I tried getting back into it only to realise the work load. So I decided to take what I've got for the opening. Do with that as you will.
Do I think the opening is perfect? Well yes but actually no - I'm aware there are flaws. Please point them out.
Did I write this at night? Yes. Hence sloppy writing.
Did I forget to greet you happy New Year? Actually yeah... HAPPY NEW YEAR! And remember to always protect the face!

i see the opinion that ‘writers favour tory over sam’ A LOT, and i dislike this take. it’s genuinely so dumb to me
i could debate it but i just can’t be asked, i’ll be honest.
i don’t believe that writers have shown favouritism towards tory, for sam literally ever. so in season 6, the last season if they’re giving tory more attention than sam (if that’s why you think) then so be it. seriously.
like maybe i’m bias cause tory is my favourite, but truly, i don’t see the favouritism that they’re seeing? like point me too it right now 😂😂
ik this an unpopular opinion most folk are gonna disagree with but idc #SPEAKINGMYTRUTH
