You noticed it right away when you got back from work, there was a CT5-V Cadillac in Typhoon Metallic parked in the parking garage. It took the usual spot of black truck that you always parked next to, you knew who it belonged to. Joaquín Torres had moved in across the hall from you a few months a go. Even though his number was right after yours, you had only met him a few times, and each time you ended up a flustered mess because of the nonstop stream of flirting between you two.

His new car, or at least you assumed it was, looked exactly like the one you made the other night before bed. You did it often, making cars on websites before bed, it was your way to destress. You could never afford the cars based on your salary but it was therapeutic to just make one without the worry of the cost.

You realized you had just been staring at it for a while before grabbing your things and hurrying yourself to the elevator to take you up. You would just have to ask him your question the next time you saw him, you decided.

You finally saw Joaquín with his car, you were sitting in your car after a shitty work day when he pulled up. You hurriedly got out of your car, knowing that the worse that would happen is that he said no and that you would pretend you were leaving only to circle the block in your car before coming back.

"Uh, Joaquín?" You tried your best to sound casual despite the nerves building.

"Yeah, angel?" He gave you an award winning smile. He could tell you were nervous and that you were probably upset about the day from the way your cheeks were stained with tears.

"I just have a question for you," you shuffled on your feet.

"Ask away," he stood there patiently.

"If it's not too much trouble, do you think I could take a picture of both the inside and the outside of your car?" You rushed your question out, scared of the rejection.

"Go ahead, here," he gently handed you the keys and you excitedly took them from him. He watched you with a smile as you snapped photos of the outside before unlocking his car and jumping into the driver's seat. You took some photos of the car before getting out and handing the keys back to Joaquín. "Wanna go for a ride?" He offered and you nodded so fast he was worried about you getting whiplash.

You two got into his car, Joaquín in the driver's seat and you in the passenger seat. You set your purse on the floor by your feet and buckled in, ready to ride in your possible dream car. It wasn't a silent ride, there was good music playing through the speakers and you and Joaquín kept the conversation flowing easily.

At some point through the ride, Joaquín's hand landed on your thigh. You noticed and placed your hand on his causing him to turn his hand to hold yours.

You were absolutely over the moon when you had gotten back from the drive, you thanked Joaquín so many times he just resorted to smiling at you.

"I seriously cannot thank you enough," you said for the umpteenth time. "Are you sure there isn't a way to repay you?"

"A kiss?" It was meant as a joke, you both knew that but you thought about it. What was the harm in kissing the handsome man who was willing to let you passenger princess while he aimlessly drives around just because he wanted to see you smile.

"Ok," you replied and he froze at your words.

"Ok?"

"Ok, I'll kiss you," you told him before his lips landed on yours. It quickly turned heated as he pulled you closer, pressing your hips into his. You could feel the imprint of his dick against you and it took all your willpower to stay mostly quiet just incase you needed to pull away at the sound of the elevator. You two, however, got lucky. The elevator stopped on your floor and you followed Joaquín to his apartment, your back hitting the door before it was fully closed behind you.

"You don't have to do this, you don't owe me anything," Joaquín told you, pulling away to look you in the eyes.

Joaquín would tell people that's the moment be fully fell for you, with your pretty lips turned into a pout and your eyes fully trained on his. "I will go down the hall to Todd's apartment if we don't keep going," you threatened, you knew he had seen the way Todd looked at you.

"You wouldn't dare," he joked, leaning in until his lips grazed the shell of your ear. "You're mine now and I'll make sure everyone hears you call my name," his joking tone was gone and it made a shiver run down your spine.

Joaquín made good on his promise, both of you were laid out on his bed. The blanket was pulled around you both with you curled into Joaquín's side, you smelt of his soap and you wore nothing more than his shirt.

"I'll go make dinner," Joaquín said as he moved to get out of bed. He let out a small laugh when you whined and pulled him closer to you. "Ok, I'll stay a little longer," he smiled, how could he not give you what you want when you whine so pretty for him.

Amna Al Qubaisi Is Rewriting the Rules of Racing

At just 14, Amna Al Qubaisi fell in love with racing after watching her father compete. Just four years later, in 2018, she became the first Emirati woman to officially enter the Formula 3 racing world — sending a powerful message to women everywhere: never take a back seat when it comes to your dreams. She’s since faced the sport’s most difficult hurdles, from navigating gender bias to hopping behind the wheel only a week after a near-fatal crash.

Like most female competitors, keeping her focus clear and frankly, remaining in her lane, has always been her MO. But as she shared in a 2022 interview with us, the male-dominated sport has continuously posed challenges to her success. For example, “The car chassis (structure) was built for male drivers,” she told us. “So, [she] has struggled to make the perfect seat fit with the pedal measurements.”

While Formula 1 drivers benefit from frequent access to testing tracks, Formula 2 and 3 racers — especially women — have far fewer chances to practice. The limited resources make her wins all the more impressive. “I would say the lack of track time for practicing or testing has really impacted my performance, as I’m unfamiliar with the car and every track has always been my first time, so it always felt like a game of catch-up.”

Her best tip for navigating the space is to “always remain kind and respectful. I can’t control what people think or act towards me. When I first started, I realized I wasn’t taken very seriously and my feedback about cars didn’t matter,” she said. “So, I’ve learned that I need to be more firm and keep my head held high.”

Al Qubaisi’s performance and strong desire for success have landed her campaigns with LOEWE, Cadillac and Samsung, and parents are sending their daughters to racing lessons because of her impact. “I’ve been told that parents allowed their daughters to compete in male-dominated sports because of what I’ve accomplished,” she told HYPEBEAST after setting a record time in Cadillac’s then just-released CT5-V Blackwing.

Recently, she earned a spot in the Ligier European Series alongside her sister, Formula 4 racer Hamda Al Qubaisi. The event marked the first race where the sister duo shared a car and swapped their single-seaters for sports prototype racing. “It’s honestly a super exciting route!” she told us. Now, she’s raising the stakes and setting new goals. “My new goal is to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with my sister and aim for a podium.”

If you’re feeling inspired by Al Qubaisi’s journey, her advice is to “Do it for yourself, not for anyone else. Don’t let others’ opinions define you and stay true to what makes you happy. Focus on your journey and enjoy what you do.”
