　―He was so, so tired already.

　Of the kami, of their overwhelming cruelty. Of being a shinki, a stray, a ghost—not alive. It took only two or three sentences from a god to be driven into this corner, shaken by the imagery their words had evoked. Images of a game, an abduction, a trial of survival, and a vote for who shall die next...

　He... wanted to survive so, so badly. He wanted to live, and yet...

　　❝ W-Why...?❞  Why would they show him this? As if his grief over his current situation wasn’t harsh enough, now he felt his entire soul (and body, quite literally) burning in rage.

　The shape he had taken was animalistic, the darkest fur sticking out from his face, under his scarf, from his sleeves―he could only cover so much with the clothing he wore. The blighting tainted his skin in patches of dark purple, eyes stuck out even in hidden parts of his body. He was a complete mess from head to toe, and all caused by the extreme swift of emotions spilled from the grief of seeing his own death. An unjust death.

　　❝ I hate them, I hate them all. I’m...I’m going to destroy all of the gods. I’m going to kill them.❞  His hands went up to his face, covering it whole as the angered tears continued to spill.❝ —They deserve all that is coming their way...! I-I hate them—! I will end them all, one by one.❞  Perhaps it wasn’t wise to go screaming something like this at the top of his lungs, but he didn’t really care about putting up his act anymore.

Father leaves a bag of candy for Yato to find. The note stuck onto the bag says: "Don't eat them all at once and don't forget to brush your teeth. Oh, and no candy before dinner. Love, Daddy xoxo"

　　❝ …❞  He squinted at the note with animosity, as if hoping the mere action of glaring would turn it into something else more to his liking (like a wish mail, or a love letter from Hiyori). His palm weighted the bag unconsciously, deciding whether he should throw it away or gift it to some random kid on the street.

　Instead, he rolled the zipper down his jacket, pulling it open and dropping the bag into the safety of his clothes. He decided he’d not only keep the candies, but also eat them all at once before dinner and go to bed without brushing his teeth just the same. That’d definitely make him feel better about it.
