#custom divination

Hi all ! I'm Aezu (any pronouns), and i've been practicing tarot and a few other types of card divination for around 3 years.

Now, i want to practice dice readings, as well as "runes" (a custom set of casting items largely inspired by a manga).

I have 3 different sets of dice :

Publishing Goblin's Oracle dice (2nd edition),

Les Dés D'Isis, by Joyce Duval and Béatrice Pubellier (i've developped my own set of meanings for this one, it consists of 3 astrological dice with Houses, Signs and Planets, as well as 4 colored and 22 sided dice that represent the tarot Major Arcana influenced by a different element each),

Oracle Dés de Sorcière, Secret d'étoiles ( 5 6-sided dice with well-known symbols, mostly of Wicca influence)

My custom runes are inspired by the manga Alice 19th by Yuu Watase, and the rune-like system of magic it uses.

There are 48 pieces in the set, 24 Lotis ("upright" meanings) and 24 Maaram ("reversed" meanings). The manga shows all 24 Lotis, but not all Maaram, so i've completed the set myself.

I also have a set of Elder Futhark runes, but i only use it as additional stones in readings of other sets.

I'm OPEN to doing short free readings : simply ask a question, give me a way to remember who you are if anon (emoji combination / initials / pronouns...), and choose the method you would like me to use. I will cast up to 3 dice or runes.

A few rules for readings :

No yes / no questions (the methods i use can't answer those, i will rephrase into a question that allows nuance and details if you send me one)

No medical / legal advice (or anything that would require years of study and a diploma. you know, expert advice. this includes mental health.) General advice is ok.

No "mind-reading" or "spying" on someone, and No readings on someone else's behalf ex: "how are x's exams going to go?" (if you want to know what someone is thinking or doing, ask them directly)

No relationship advice / No NSFW or 18+ / No future spouse / No twin flame /No celebrities and the like (as an AroAce person i'm poorly equipped to do those and they make me uncomfortable) General love advice is ok.

Please refrain from asking many questions in a row, i'll do 1 question per ask. Let other people have their turn.

Please be patient, i may not be able to get to all questions in a timely manner. If you think your question got eaten or forgotten, wait a week or so before reminding me or sending another.

Please be Respectful, make sure you're following the rules, basic politeness is appreciated, and don't trauma-dump in my inbox.

I reserve the right to refuse to do a reading for any reason, even not listed here. (if i'm not comfortable or just don't want to answer a particular question, or if you're being rude, i might refuse. If this happens, i'll most likely let you send another ask.)

don't remember when where or how I read an interrogation about how blood could still be given to the earth and that human sacrifices would be needed to keep the herbs growing (likely paraphrasing because as mentioned above i don't rember💀) but I've always thought [regardless of if the narrative is based enough to mean it] that

The Divine Beasts! [Zelda Proxy Project]

Next up, the Divine Beasts! The biggest creatures in the all-proxy Zelda-themed commander deck I made for my wife are of course the Divine Beasts from Breath of the Wild!

I find these 4 huge artifact creatures, Platinum Angel, Platinum Emperion, Metalwork Colossus, and Ancient Stone Idol, to be some of the best in magic, and just like in the game, with one on your side you are already at a significant advantage, but with all four? You should be unstoppable!

Bone Deep Divination

This is just going to be a quick post explaining curiomancy/osteomancy, showing my curiomancy set, and providing some tips so that you can make your own set.

Curiomancy is the art of divination through small, symbolic objects—anything from a key to a coin, a feather, or a seashell. Osteomancy, its bony cousin, uses bones—animal, occasionally human, ethically sourced—to glean insight from the way they fall or relate to one another. Both practices are intuitive, tactile, and highly personalized, making them stand out from more rigid systems like tarot or runes.

Keep a journal or list to log your piece meanings.

My curiomancy set took me about three years to complete. Each item was individually chosen based on my own, personal association with that object. What makes curiomancy and osteomancy deeply personal is that you build your own set. You choose what each item means, or better yet, let the item tell you. A plastic spider could represent opportunity. A wheat-back penny might speak of money, luck, or something worth remembering. Over time, your collection becomes a living language—one only you truly speak.

I keep a special cloth with my kit that I use to read with. It has a custom sigil on the back.

Creating your own set connects you directly to your practice. It forces you to observe patterns, develop symbolism, and work with intuition over preset meanings. That makes it wildly potent. This is your cosmology, not someone else’s.

Tips for Selecting Bones or Curios:

• Let them call to you. You’ll know when a piece belongs in your set—it’ll catch your eye, feel odd in your hand, or tug at your gut.

• Start small. Don’t aim for 30 pieces right away. Begin with 7–13 and let the rest come organically.

• Ethical sourcing matters. For bones, find remains in nature or purchase from reputable sellers. Know the animal if you can; its spirit may linger.

• Balance the energies. Mix light and dark, organic and artificial. You’re not building a pretty set—you’re building a tool that mirrors the world.

• Keep a record. Write down meanings as they emerge, but allow them to shift over time. Like bones, meaning is alive until it's not.

• Do practice readings to learn how your pieces interact with one another and the surface/spread. I read my bones in a spiral, others may use quadrants or a custom map.

Both curiomancy and osteomancy are less about the pieces and more about the story they tell together—an evolving mythos whispered by wood, metal, plastic, glass, and bone. This ancient divination form is still as relevant and potent today as it has ever been.

Can't believe I'm saying this but I miss the references to Andraste and the Maker in Dragon Age. The exasperated exclaimations of "Maker's Breath," or "Andraste's ass," were so incredibly absent in Veilguard, I can't recall any dialogue where characters use them or an equivalent. I know the focus was on the Evanuris, but man, we've got at least 3 humans and 1 dwarf who by all likelihoods should be Andrastian and follow some version of the Chant.

I've seen fanfics where characters use "gods!" as an exclaimation like we're in Faerûn and not Thedas, because Veilguard just straight up forgets about the cultural importance of the Maker and Andraste and so new fans to the series have no idea either.
