Disclaimer: none of these answers are official, and may not work for your particular use case. If there is a specific feature that an unofficial app had that you don't know how to replicate on the AO3, let me know in the notes and we might can crowdsource a solution.

A lot of people used the Archive Reader app to access stories on Archive of Our Own, and have been upset that the app is now charging to read longer than an hour a day. AO3 (and its parent organization, the OTW) has made it extremely clear in recent days that this app is unofficial and that there *is* no official app. They encourage people to use the website.

However, there are MANY reasons you might want an app, and in a bunch of those cases, there are ways to do those things without having to provide your login information to a random person running an app. Here is a round-up of solutions to the most common reasons I've seen people give for wanting an app instead of the plain AO3 website.

These solutions are based on the following assumptions:

You know what Archive of Our Own is

You often or primarily access it through a mobile device running iOS or Android

You understand what a browser is

You understand what a browser bookmark is

You understand what a site skin is

I need to be able to read stories when I don't have internet.

Every work on the AO3 has a download button, so you can click on that and download the story for offline reading in the ereader app of your choice. More info on how to do that is in the AO3 FAQs: https://archiveofourown.org/faq/downloading-fanworks?language_id=en#accesslater

I need to be able to change the text size of the website itself.

I need to be able to change the text size in downloaded stories.

My personal recommendation: Don't download in PDF format. All the other formats you can download in can scale the text size up and down, assuming you open the work in the correct app. For me, I download works in EPUB format and read them on the built-in Books app on my iPhone. I hear good things about Moon Reader on Android as well.

I need to be able to replace Y/N in fics with an actual name.

I need to be able to save specific tags and not have to search them up every time.

I need to be able to save specific filters and be able to apply them to any tag.

I need it to save my place on the page and not reload.

This is really mostly a browser error--Firefox on iOS does this to me A LOT. Your best bet is to download the work and read it in an ereader app. A lot of people also will make an ao3 bookmark and write in the notes section which part they were at, but that assumes you aren't falling asleep while reading. I need it to keep track of which stories I've already read/opened/kudos'd.

If you have an account (which you should) then the "My History" page keeps track of every fic you've ever clicked on. No, it isn't searchable or sortable, but it does exist. I need an app because the website's search is terrible.

(I genuinely don't understand this one but I have seen it multiple times so on the list it goes!!) The search bar at the top of the screen is a keyword search. If you'd rather search within a specific field (like title or tag) then you'll want to click on the word "search" at the top of the screen and select Work Search or Tag Search. To search users, use People Search. To search Bookmarks, use Bookmark Search. (If this is you, please tell me what the heck you mean by "search is bad" and how an app helped with this.)

I need to be able to sort stories by date posted/number of bookmarks/alphabetical/etc.

You can do this using the filters sidebar. Pick a tag you want to filter on (like a fandom, character, or relationship) and then click on the "Filters" button. The sidebar will pop out and you can sort and filter on a boggling array of specifics. I need to be able to mark stories to read later.

AO3 has this feature built in! If you have an account (which you should) there is a "Mark for Later" option on every work.

Edit: Thispersonishuman reminded me that History and Mark For Later can be disabled, so if you're not seeing the Mark for Later option, check your settings.

I need to be able to listen to stories using text-to-speech.

Microsoft Edge web browser has a built in text to speech function. Supposedly it works on both iOS and Android, but I have not personally tested that. iOS also has a native accessibility feature in settings for text to speech that will work on the Books app, so I assume Android has a similar functionality. I need to have in-app notifications for updates/I can't ever find story updates in among the rest of my emails/checking my email stresses me out.

Set up a separate email address using a free service like gmail, and use that email address JUST for AO3. Then the only emails in that inbox will be your story updates. I use Apple's Mail application for all my inboxes, but it's very easy to use the Gmail app instead, and you could log in to JUST the ao3 email and set it to notify for every email.

(Also as a general PSA: don't use your work, school, or military email as your AO3 email. Just don't.)

I want statistics like how many hours I spent reading, how many words I read, what my most read tags were, stuff like that.

So we've finally hit something that isn't easy and that requires a hell of a lot of manual work. Short version: AO3 does not track this data because they don't want to. (Mostly due to privacy concerns.) The lack of this tracking is a feature, not a bug. You can crunch these numbers yourself, but it will take a hell of a lot more effort, and it's something I personally found is not worth the effort the couple of times I have tried to crunch those numbers. If you are willing to download your history to an actual computer (not a tablet or chromebook) using Calibre, you can get a rough idea of your most popular tags via their tag browser, but it won't play nice with typos synned to a Common Tag (Canonical Tag/filterable tag) like ao3 does. (If anyone has used an app that gave you stats on this, please let me know in reblogs/replies/via ask how that worked because I am very curious.)

If you are in a youtube video online, you have broken containment

If you are getting a bunch of notifications from a post, you can hold down a notification from it or click the three dots on the post and click 'mute' to stop getting notifications (other than mentions)

You can also filter your notifications by clicking on the top left of your notifications tab and tapping 'custom'

The 'for you' tab of Tumblr is what the algorithm thinks you'll like based on your interests and stuff

The 'following' tab is blogs and tags you follow

On Tumblr, you can add not only extra notes in the tags but also regular tags. Spaces are allowed

If you get an ask from a Palestinian blogger, check yourself (you may find places where it's vetted/verified in their reblogs. You can also tell by them having no photos/story at all [no name, no information, just a donate link], and scams commonly use photos from Google images. Be suspicious if there's anything other than GoFundMe or something similar. PayPal is banned there.) or send a screenshot to me/somebody who offered to help. Then, you can answer the ask so people who can donate can see it, or donate yourself. DO. NOT. PRESSURE. YOURSELF.

On the web, activity items have new unread and hover highlights to improve visibility.

We’re experimenting with new push notifications letting folks know when there’s activity in any joined communities you haven’t seen in at least 24 hours. You can control this new notification with the “community activity” notification setting.

Community owners can now set their community joining type to “New members can request or be invited to join.” Once set, besides the original invite flow, prospective members will be able to click a “Request to Join” button and admins will have a new “Requests” tab where they can Approve or Deny any request.

On the web, the “Do not sell my personal information” link has been moved to the footer of the right sidebar, so it’s now alongside the rest of the privacy links.

We have fixed an issue causing custom domains to be trapped in a redirect loop.

We have fixed an issue causing some users to see the wrong activity filter options in the latest version of the iOS app.

We have fixed an issue causing Tumblr to count links twice in custom pages, which normally isn’t a problem, but it turned our 500 links per page limit into a 250 links per page limit. Tumblr now counts links only once, so you can once again include up to 500 links on a single custom page.

Alright so two days ago my battery DRAINED like crazy. Like, it was almost dead by 4 pm where it usually has at LEAST 50%, but usually more than 60%. This is after the UI 7.0 update, universally hated.

Bonus Note: to turn off the stupid separate notifications/other panel thing, swipe down on the notification bar → click the edit button (the pencil) → click "panel settings" (top left) → change from "separate" to "together"

I went into my battery to see what was draining it...

Lo and behold, it's AI shit that nobody wants ✨

BUT don't panic, I figured out how to fix it! (Cut here so it doesn't clog up feeds) :)

You need to go to settings → apps and then click the filter button (see below if you don't know where it is, drawn very shakily in blue) and select "Show system apps"

To find our culprit, scroll down to the "P" apps, and click on "Personal Data Intelligence". Here's where it's draining your battery: the permissions that it automatically accesses for no reason but to (presumably) put AI stuff/options on there!

Clear the data first, I don't know if it actually did something but it made me feel better.

Now deny all of the permissions it has access to. It's going to show a pop up every time claiming that features of your device (AI features) won't work as intended and you're going to click "deny anyway" for ALL of them.

I don't know if it affected anything, but I also: blocked notifications, set default to other apps so that it wouldn't open, turned off background data usage (in the Mobile Data section)

Also, don't forget to make sure it can't change your system settings!! I don't know what it wants to change, but it might turn the permissions back on and continue draining your battery if you allow it to change system settings.

While you can't do it with this, with other apps you can change the battery usage to "restricted", meaning it will not run in the background (as much) and use less battery!

Here's the results from today, I have used it less than yesterday but it didn't even show up on the battery usage list so I think I fixed it!!

Hello Sweeties ! Aaaah ! I'm so happy to post this part, I worked on it for like ... 4h. I'm dead. I didn't really knew how to start it and how I would like this part to finish. I had a plan in mind and I didn't goes until what I wanted to but at the same time I think it's fine. This show how Nam Gyu live and how he is and same for the reader. I think this first Part Set Up in a good way the story for the Next parts.

Nam Gyu woke up to the Annoying sound from the alarm he had set up in his phone. Grunting he turned it off before giving a quick look at the time ; 19h45. He still had some time before he had to leave for the club. A small Shiver ran through his body as he felt a gentle touch caressing his back before a pair of lips were pressed against it. He used to be alone when He woke up but he slowly remembered what happened last night. High, also drunk, probably, He came back to his apartment with a random girl he found at work, a customer probably or maybe one of Thanos many bitches. 

“-Do you want another Round before you have to leave for work ?” Asked the girl as he turned around to look at her. Honestly he can’t remember anything from the previous night and when he faced her, he mentally said to himself that it's not that bad after all. She didn't look that good, she's not even his type. He was probably just really horny due to all he took. “-No, I can’t, he said with his still sleepy voice, I have shits to do.” That was a Lie, but he didn't want to have to discuss with her or anything and even less stay in bed and cuddle. He likes physical touch but not that type. It usually feels weird and wrong. “-You should leave.” He said he got out of bed.”-I can Call you a Taxi if you want.”

Nam Gyu put on his sweat pants as the girl rolled her eyes and sight. She seemed annoyed but also irritated by his behaviour. She got out of the bed as well and started to put on the clothes she had last night.’’-I’m gonna be fine.’’ She answered. Nam Gyu nodded and left his room to go to the bathroom. When he heard the sound of the door shutting, he sighs out of relief. 

Turning on the hot water of the shower, he removed the pants he had put on minutes ago and got rid of his boxer before entering the hot steaming shower. His dark eyes fixed a point in the bottom of the shower as he get lost in his taught, trying to remember what he had took last night to be so fucking clueless about the situation. Maybe Su-Bong will know something or maybe if he can’t remember it weren’t that important. 

Getting out of the shower when he’s done and putting on his towel around his waist, he goes back to his room and lets himself fall on the bed without even to wet the sheets. He closed his eyes, trying to rest a little more, but the sound of his phone telling him he got a notification, broke his plans. He ignored the first one… and the second, but after the third and the fourth, he opened His eyes and grunt before grabbing the little machine to look at the screen. Of course, Su-Bong had sent a little too much message. Too many messages to tell him about a hot Rich girl who’s gonna be at the club tonight to see Him perform. He also sent him a picture of the girl and her Insta, but Nam Gyu didn’t even bother to look at the link, only looking at the picture his friend sent him. ‘’ -Pretty, I guess ‘’ He answered. He didn’t really know what to think. She of course was cute. Long brown hair, almond shaped brown eyes, perfect clear and pale skin, or maybe is it just the filter ? Another Text from His rapper friend got his attention. ‘’ -Also, did you get Into a Fight with Se-Mi last Night ? She seamed fucking Upset.’’ 

With a Cocky smile, Nam Gyu answered ‘’ -It’s more of a surprise when we don't fight. But, yeah Maybe I Pissed her off. I don’t remember. ‘’ The answer from Su-Bong came quickly. Nam Gyu barely had time to get up. ‘’ -You should fuck her better ‘’ He let a scof passed his lips and answer one last thing before thosing his phone aside and start to get ready for work. ‘’ -Will consider it ‘’

Putting on a pair of black jeans, a white blouse and rolled up the sleeves to his elbows, he placed his hair behind his ears and sent the small amount of rebel hair in the back. He put his glass on and his favorite perfume before being ready to leave his apartment until dawn, at least.

Even if he has a Car, Nam Gyu prefers to walk and look around as he smokes a cigarette. Also it’s better for him when he's a little bit to High after his day of work, taking his car could be deadly and as tempting as it was, he's mostly scared to kill an innocent by accident more than himself. 

As he enjoyed the view of the city slowly getting darker as the street lights opened as he walked while he let the smoke of his cigarette fill his lungs, making him shiver from the delicious feeling, his eyes stopped on something he spotted in the trash. He stopped and looked into it before getting out  today’s newspaper. The title in big letters said ‘’ -Lee Myun-gy and Y/N get engaged ‘’ under it, a big photo of you and your newly fiancé with your , probably, two families. Removing the cigarette from his lips and letting the smoke escape from it, he turned the pages to go read the article. It was a boring one explaining how of an advantage it will be for you two to get married. Your father was a big politician and Myun-Gy’s father was the CEO of many compagnies, who could be a benefit for both of your families but also the economy of Korea if an alliance could be created from this wedding. 

‘’ -So that’s what you’ve become, Y/N ‘’ Said Nam Gyu to himself before inhaling another puff of his cigarette. ‘’ -Pathetic ‘’ He said as he threw the newspaper back in the trash before continuing his walk to the Club.

As Nam Gyu walked down the streets, you, on the other side, were about to leave school. Your last class just ended and you felt exhausted, wishing for nothing else than a hot bubble bath. But it seems that your friend, Min-Ah, had other plans for you, asking you to go with her at Club pentagon tonight, only for her to meet up with a Guy. ‘’ -He’s not just a Guy Y/N it’s Thanos, THE Thanos ! ‘’ By the tone of her voice, you guessed how excited she was. ‘’- Oh so we should be careful if we don’t want to be erased from existence’’ You replied as a Joke, but Min-Ah didn’t seem to share your humour. ‘’ -Yeah, super funny’’ She answered sarcastically. ‘’ -Anyway, I'm gonna be in front of your door at 10PM, be ready ‘’ And she hung up before you had time to answer her.

As you enter the car, you go take a Look on Thanos instagram. He was good looking for sure, but also looked immature, but it wasn't a surprise coming from Min-ah, she alway loved this kind of guy. Hot looking but walking red flags. As you scrolled through his pictures, your eyes stopped on one specific picture. It was Thanos with a bunch of friends but one of them got your attention. Your heart started to pound faster in your chest. You clicked on the picture and when the username of all the others appeared, your eyes filled with tears when you saw his name ; Roh.Nam_gyuuu. No doubt it was him. It couldn't be a coincidence. You quickly click on his user name to see his profile, but it was a private one. ‘’ -Fuck…’’ You said to yourself. You thought about adding him, but after all those years it will be weird. Maybe he didn’t even remember you anyway. 

You sigh and sink into the backrest of the car, looking outside as your driver drives you home. Putting on your headphones, you go on Thanos Youtube channel and listen to some of his music, just to prepare yourself for Tonight. After what you saw, you can no longer refuse Min-Ah's invitation to go to club pentagon.

When Nam Gyu gets to work, he goes into his office and drops his bag on the floor before sitting down on his chair. That's all He could do before Se-mi bursted into his office without even knocking. ‘’ -You little Shit ‘’ She hissed. Nam Gyu still could remember why she was mad, but he was about to find out. ‘’ -You fucking stole my drugs. Do you know how expensive it was for me ? ‘’ She gets closer to him and harshly grabs the collar of his blouse, getting closer to him. ‘’ -I hope You will pay me back at least. ‘’ Nam Gyu grabbed her wrist and gave enough pressure to hurt her just enough to make her release him before he did the same with her. ‘’ -First of all, Hi, nice to see you too. Second, what drug ? Cause I will be honest, I can’t remember shits from yesterday. ‘’ 

Se-Mi, who was definitely still mad at him, looked at the raven haired with a confused Look. ‘’ -What do you mean you don’t remember ? ‘’ Nam Gyu shrugs and starts to explain what happened when he woke up and what was his last memory from last night. In conclusion, Se-Mi told him it was probably a side effect on the drug he took. It was a new one and she paid a lot to try it since her friend told her it was the best drug she took in years, but for Nam Gyu it was the opposite. What’s the point of taking something if you can’t even remember how good you felt the night before ? Opening his phone, He gave a look at his bank account, which was almost empty, before looking at his friend who had her arms crossed on her chest. ‘’ -I will pay you back, but not now. I barely have money to eat. ‘’ As she was about to reply, Nam Gyu grabbed her waist and sat her down on his lap, forcing eye contact by grabbing her jaw. ‘’ -But I can pay half of it right now with my tongue, if you want ‘’ 

Se-mi cheeks get red from Nam Gyu’s offer. He released her jaw, grabbed her ass and lifted her to sit her on his desk. His lips rushed to meet hers and she answered his kiss, passing her arms around Nam Gyu’s neck, fingers sliding in his hair. Their tongues found each other, fighting for control. Nam Gyu’s hands unbutton Se-Mi’s pants and she lifts her hips to help Nam Gyu remove it along with her underwear. The raven haired Guy put his veiny hands on her tights and spread them before he pulled out from her lips to kneel in front of his friend’s cunt. He smiles at the sight of her already dripping. ‘’ -Fuck, do you want me that bad or what ? ‘’ He asked with a smirk as he looked up at her. She grunt and harshly grab his hair and press on it ‘’ -Shut up and Eat me out before I decide to increase your debt, dumbass.’’ 

Nam gyu’s tongue started to work between her legs. His lips come around her clit, sucking on it as his tongue moves around, looking for the most sensitive spot. You recognize him even meters away and it was enough to make your heart pound faster again. On the balcony on the side of the building, Nam Gyu was Smoking, exhaling the smoke in the air and just like if it was meant to be, he turned his head to look at you, the same brief moment. Your eyes found each other in the slight lights emanating from the club and you both felt a soft and warm feeling in your chest. But it was really just a brief moment before both of you were out of sight from each other.

A week had passed by since Nanami walked you home, and you haven’t seen him since. You felt sad for the most part. Baking cakes to distract yourself, you blocked out the thoughts of him. Proceeding to serve your customers before your thoughts distracted you. For the past week the constant feeling that someone was watching you made you go crazy.

By the third day you bought a pocketknife. You thought of buying pepper spray, but you opted for something more permanent. If someone did attack you a plunge of the knife to their neck would do it. Not some pathetic pepper spray that will only buy you 5 minutes at the least. You also turned on your location on your phone. In case you go missing hopefully the police will be able to track your phone.

Maybe being paranoid wasn’t healthy, but so is being too carefree. Once you served your customers, you went the kitchen and drinking a glass of water. You stood close to a window feeling the fresh air. You suddenly saw something on the corner of your eye, a blur. You leaned your head out the window seeing no one. You swore there was someone there.

Opening the backdoor, you walked outside threading carefully. Hearing a scratching noise your ear perked up. Going closer, your heartbeat pounding, you turned to the corner. You froze up, a sigh chuckle leaving your lips. There stood a small tabby cat. You walked closer petting its head smiling.

Suddenly hearing a click behind you, your head immediately looked behind. No one. You looked around anxiously. Giving the cat one last rub on its head, you went inside. The day continued serving customers and baking the sweets.

Your employees left, leaving you to lock the doors of the bakery like always. You wrapped the scarf that Nanami gave you around your neck. It really was comfortable, in your defense. You let out a sigh, why is the weather so cold? The hairs on your neck stood up as you heard another ‘click’. Looking behind you, you again saw no one. You stood in that street just looking around.

You sighed, frustrated. “Do you mind?!” You shout to the empty street, to no one. Maybe you really were going crazy. At that moment you didn’t know what came over you. Opening your phone you proceeded to text Nanami. It was stupid to think he’d text first, so you’re the one doing it. A week late. ‘Nanami! How are you?’ you texted, putting your phone back in your pocket.

As you texted him you continued to do it while walking. You thought of wearing headphones, but it was too risky. Not hearing anything around you. It’s practically screaming Netflix murder documentary. Your phone vibrated, a notification. You opened your phone looking at the notification. A reply from Nanami, ‘Good. You?’ you chuckled at the dry ass reply.

‘Hey Nanami, Can I call you?’ you asked the feeling that someone is still watching you getting stronger. You arrived at your house locking the doors and the windows. You bit your lip as you felt your phone vibrate again. You look at your phone knowing it’s Nanami, ‘Ok.’ Was his only reply to you.

Man, are you sure he’s really twenty-eight? He types like a boomer. You proceeded to press the call icon leaning the phone against your ear. “Nanami?” you said softly. “I’m here.” A deep voice replied. You laughed, “I’m mad at you.” you say. He hummed, “Is that why you called?” he replied. You chuckled, “You basically ghosted me, you know?” you say biting your lip anxiously.

“I’m sorry.” He replied quickly. “Make it up to me.” You say straightforwardly. “I’ll come by tomorrow.” Nanami replied to you his voice surprisingly soft. You hummed in acknowledgement.

Nanami sat on his office chair, phone against his ear. Your soft voice playing through the speakers of the phone. He ran his hands through his hair, he didn’t mean to ghost you. He was thinking of you every day! You haven’t left his mind for the past week. He touched the piles of papers on his desk drinking his whiskey.

Almost hundreds of pictures of you lay on his desk. Pictures of you walking to work, pictures of you baking cakes; pictures of you talking with your employees. The last phone call he made, he asked for a favor. A favor to know your background. From where you’re from to who your parents are. From your friends to your old school.

For the past weeks Nanami has been following you. Taking pictures of your daily life. You smiling, you looking sad, you looking tired. He has photographs of all of it. He sighs rubbing his hand on his forehead. You were like drugs to him. Like cigarettes, you can always say you’ll quit but can’t get enough.

‘I’m mad at you’ the moment you said that he perked up. Brows furrowed in confusion, The moment you told him why he groaned quietly. You liked him so much that you’re mad at him. He looked at a picture of you on his desk, rubbing the forehead of a cat. You looked so sweet.

‘I’ll come by tomorrow’ he replied planning to pick you up at your house. His eyes went over to the picture of you continuing to wear your scarf, the scarf that he gave you. His blood rushed somewhere else, making the bulge in his pants visible. He groaned standing up and going to the shower.

You woke up groaning. Fighting yourself to either stand up or go back to sleep, which you know you can’t do. You got up cursing yourself for having a sense of responsibility. You proceeded to get ready, drinking a cup of coffee and just planning to buy breakfast outside. You weren’t gonna get a piece of toast and just run out the door like those Disney movie characters.

Not having breakfast is practically driving with no gas. You left the door locking It, no Nanami scarf for today, it was getting washed. You look behind you surprised; it was Nanami. You rubbed your eyes tiredly thinking you’re seeing things. “Nanami?” you called out voice still groggy.

He looks at you glasses off his eyebags visible. He was wearing a blue polo and his yellow polka dot tie. You smiled at him happy to see him. “C’mon I’ll buy you breakfast.” He said waiting for you. Weird how he knew you didn’t eat breakfast yet. And how he knew what time you leave your house. Do you run and ignore the red flags or let the hot dilf looking man buy you breakfast?

You shrugged going over to him. Second option it is! “Where are we going?” you ask following him. “I know this cafe that sells good breakfasts.” He replied looking at you. You nod smiling at him. “Are you also gonna buy coffee?” you ask walking beside him. If people looked at the both of you side by side, they would see the plain height difference. ‘God is he tall, I wonder if something else is tall-‘ you shake your head aggressively.

Nanami looks at you eyebrows raised. You both arrive at the café sitting down at a booth near the window. The waiter gives you both the menu smiling at you, which didn’t go by unnoticed by Nanami. Nanami’s lips pursed into a thin line watching that interaction. You continued to look at the menu before sighing, “Nanami, pick for me.” You say giving him the menu.

He looked at your smiling face, his annoyance immediately leaving. He has to take sooner or later. Away from all of these filthy curse giving people. “You look nice today” he says giving you a small smile. “Are you saying I only look nice today?” You teased.

He chuckled to himself saying your order to the waiter, who was still looking at you. “Hey Nanami…can I tell you something?” you say looking at him. He nods listening, “I feel like I’m going crazy. There’s always this feeling that someone is watching or following me.” You say looking at him anxiously.

Nanami looked at you for a few seconds before answering, “I should walk you to work, and going back to your house.” He says sternly. You sigh in relief. “I’m sorry for saying this so early in the morning.” You say looking at him sadly.

He held your hand, running his fingers through it. “I’ll keep you safe”

because there's a lot of weirdo behavior on radblr recently, here's a warning i learned the hard way:

if you're using a vpn, your blogs might get caught up in a spam filter

some consequences of this include, but aren't limited to:

losing access to some or all side blogs

unable to send or recieve messages + asks

activity not being visible on posts (if you like/reblog a post, your blog does not show up in notes and notifications)

being unable to reply on any post + all previous replies are unavailable

posts not being visible in tags, but followers will still see your posts on their dash iirc

possible termination of your entire account

besides using a vpn, some other possible triggers for this include:

sending messages too fast

following people too fast

editing your blog... somehow. custom themes and links are the usual culprits from what i've heard

** the information under the cut may be different depending on your situation **

although it's rare(ish) for this to happen, a lot of people outside of radblr are currently experiencing these issues. the only solution to reversing your shadowban/termination is to send a support ticket or reach out to tumblr directly.

when making a ticket, make sure you:

mention the blogs that are shadowbanned + the ones you no longer have access to

mention what happened to your blog (no longer seeing messages, not being visible in tags...) and why you believe you were incorrectly shadowbanned or terminated (vpn usage, editing blog theme...)

make sure the email you use in your ticket is the same as the email of the account w/ shadowbanned blogs. if you need to use an alternative email, make sure to mention the account's email in your ticket.

label your problem correctly. tickets labeled as terminated accounts usually do not get confirmation emails until the ticket has been reviewed, and there's several ways to label your ticket if you have been shadowbanned. it really just depends on what the biggest isssue for you is.

after you make your ticket, you usually get a confirmation email. if your account has been terminated, you most likely won't get a confirmation email.

^^^ Here's an example of what the email looked like for me

after sending a ticket and/or letting tumblr know, the best thing you can do is wait for a response. tumblr may take a while to get back to you (a week or so at best, a few months on average, a year or more at worst). in the meantime, make a new blog (preferably on a different account w/ a different email address) if necessary. if it makes you less nervous: after your shadowban is lifted, all messages, asks, replies, and whatnot will be visible :D

Caveat: this assumes a person HAS a desktop theme (or “custom theme”) enabled. A “custom theme” is url.tumblr.com, as opposed to tumblr.com/url. I've heard you have to opt-into the former now, when it used to be the default, so not everyone HAS a custom theme. This can be activated in the blog's settings

You, tumblr user, have you heard of the commission website VGen?

i am not being paid this is not an official ad i just really think its super cool and more people should check it out maybe and help them build a better online commission ecosystem

It's like fiverrr but with no AI and much less of a risk of getting scammed. They take reports very seriously and all verified artists have been reviewed by a human in their dev team.

You can commission fully custom (or YCH) pieces of art in all different mediums. From music, to writing, and even physical goods! There's also a shop feature coming soon for pre-made items or adoptables! There's also a ton of filters to help you find exactly what you want AND you can always follow an artist to get notified of when they open next.

Every seller gets their own page to customize which hosts not only the services they're selling, but also space for a portfolio, and reviews for past commissions.

Artists even get to review their past clients so that other artists can look out for troublesome buyers :3c

The biggest plus for artists IMO is the discoverability and notification system. Anyone who follows you can choose to be notified by email whenever you open comms. They also have an entire dashboard where you can keep track of all your comms, services, and even your TOSs (policies).

Like any selling platform, they do have fees though :'( It's a 5% fee on every order you make through them and they have a price breakdown for every sale that tells you how much you'll actually be getting after VGen fees + payment processing (Paypal or Stripe) fees.

They provide a ton of services for us artists and while the fees can hurt, I don't mind them too much. I personally use my VGen as just ONE form of selling, I also make sales through other websites or on my own through word of mouth or through my social medias. There's no expectation that VGen will be your ONLY platform that you sell on :)

I really really love the mission that VGen has of helping human artists thrive and making commission based selling easier and more accessible to prospective clients. They're constantly improving the site and they actively review suggestions through their discord. If you'd like to help them succeed make buy something from an artist on there \o/

oh also bonus, they currently allow spicy artwork as well

Android Mastodon Clients 🌟

A web client is a software application that accesses and displays content from the World Wide Web. In this particular case, Mastodon (and some other Fedi sites).

These apps are here to bring all of your different accounts into one application for easy posting, browsing, and management.

Below, I've reviewed the ones that I've used myself so far. I encourage you to try as many as you can to find the right fit for you!

Rodent- Very minimalist. Very little customization, no access to profile links unless in bio, no direct access to profile. On Playstore

Focus- Popup ads👎On F-Droid/Playstore

Fedilab- Good! Post draft option, notifications filtering, access to profile links, trending tags, trending posts, schedule posts option, font resizing, icon resizing. On F-Droid/Playstore

Tusky- Lots of UI customization, access to profile links, post draftability, post scheduling, trending posts/hashtags, and notifications filtering. Slightly more legible ui compared to Fedilab, though has mostly same features. On F-Droid/Playstore

Subway tooter- More advanced UI customization (for the people into those smaller details). Same as Fedilab & Tusky in usability but comes with a trending posts page. On Playstore

Moshidon- Very similar to the OG Mastodon app in layout. Comes with a few color pallet options. Simplistic and easy to use. On F-Droid/Playstore

ZonePane- Slightly less intuitive UI but entirely still usable. Includes lots of customization in font sizing/spacing, thumbnail sizing, icon shaping, the ability to hide follower/following counts, the ability to hide other numbers such as likes, RT's, etc. Similar to Cohost in this way. Has Banner ADs!! On Playstore

Pachli- Similar UI and customization to Fedilab & Tusky. On F-Droid/Playstore

Tooot- Has a simple UI layout with very few customizable aspects. Font size adjustment is available, as well as light and dark themes. On Playstore

Trunks- Super clean UI with losts of fun features like pinned shortcuts, an exploration page, a trending page, profiles have an engagement gage, and much more. Just a few of the customizable things to look out for are lots of different font options and the ability to hide muted posts from your timeline. On Playstore

Buffer- Makes you sign up for a separate account to use it 👎
