Trilogy Appreciation Week Day 4: Home

This exchange between Spacer!Shep and Liara on Eden Prime is so poignant. When faced with the suffering and loss that the colonists of Eden Prime have encountered, there's a sense of disconnect for Shepard—unlike these colonists, she's never had a permanent place to call home. However, that's only half of the story. One ship is much the same as the next, but the people and the memories you create together make it a home. The Normandy is different from every other ship Shepard has served on. There's nothing inherently unique about the SR1—except that it's Shepard's first solo command, where she met her closest friends and partner. The loss of the SR1 was more than just the loss of a ship; it caused two years of heartbreak and turmoil that still affects Shepard and her friends throughout ME3. To me, this line is not only contrasting Shepard's experience with that of the colonists of Eden Prime, but I also see it as her trying to downplay her emotional connection to the Normandy because admitting that you have something you care about means giving the universe one more thing to take away from you. Liara cutting straight through Shepard's bravado and pointing out that she's not being truthful with herself stands out here, considering how Liara reacts to almost losing the Normandy again in the Citadel DLC. (If you have her and Kaidan in the party for the final confrontation, she says, "The three of us... we couldn't save the last Normandy. But we're not going to lose this one." Poor Liara.)

i've spent the past few days editing the complexion I use for my shep to include garrus' clan markings

there's a few things i need to work on still, like the nose and under-eye sections (I want to make the main line above her cheeks more curved and the nose parts less triangular), but I'm happy with how it's turned out so far!

I've no intention of retiring Rani but I do think I might finally have another Shep I want to develop. Here's Kameron Shepard. She's a colonist, sole survivor, soldier, much taller and buffer than the game lets her be, and an unexpected ray of sunshine. Also very Scottish.

Recently started my first trilogy run of the year. Rescued Liara and did a little weed killing on Feros, so I thought I'd share some shots of my FemShep.

So meet Alex Shepard, my colonist ruthless soldier. Barring some adjustments I'm very happy with how she's turned out.

I did have several tidbits to share but the read-more apparently doesn't seem to want to work outside of the dashboard so I'll post them on this blog under Alex's tag.

it will always boggle my mind just how many people use the default sheps like i dont think ive ever seen a game with a character creator have the character creation aspect ignored so widely ESPECIALLY in a bioware game like everyone saw default shepard and was like "yeah i like that" for some reason unbeknownst to me
