I honestly think Eridan might be a bigger problem than Vriska.

With Vriska, there’s always been a sense that she at least regrets what she does. That doesn’t stop her from doing it, but it does mean there’s a seed of remorse inside her that could, in time, bloom into actual character development.

Eridan, on the other hand, completely lacks even the most meager shred of introspection. Not only does he not understand why his behavior is wrong, he doesn't even recognize it as wrong. He was remorseless in his harassment of Feferi, he was remorseless when he attacked Sollux, and I guarantee he’ll be just as remorseless as a full-fledged murderer.

Every troll knows of her imperious condescension... The empress of Alternia.... One who believed in the chance of having the troll race a chance to grow... A calculated dictator with nothing but vanity, utter corruption and the very example, of what is wrong with what we stand for as royalty; as Fuchsias and Violets, as the very idea of what a highblood is to be.

I was molded by that very arrogance, that very utter corruption that has not only been shown from her actions but rather this entire wretched planet. It is a plague I will continue to exterminate.

As long as I can remember I've come and go. I've removed those unfit of such rich blood and I fear again my work isn't over or ever will be. Many could possibly have deemed my judgements unfitting or undeserving but in my very eyes in how I see things, I have a different vision that cannot be comprehended by all.

Hi. Why does coming back from vacation leave you more exhausted than when you left??

Lots of taking between characters especially as Toreador and Grim seek advice on how to speak to their respective kid. While I dont see any specific connections, the four trolls we've met so far seem to have main trolling/assisting targets. We do find out Grim potenitally has a crush on Rose and that our last remaining roles, Knight of Time and Witch of Space, belong to Dave and Jade respectively.

Now, so far each troll has had a zodiac sign attributed to them and seeing as there is 12 of them its highly likely the others will take the remaining ones. So, Im going to put here my predictions based on their handle names plus the ones we already know. Starting with:

carcinoGeneticist - Cancer. Easy enough. Carcino, as @homestuckreplay noted comes from the greek word that can literally translate to crab.

adiosToreador - Taurus. Also pretty simple. Toreador refers to bullfighters which lines up with bull as the symbol.

gallowsCalibrator - Libra. The name is more abstract and less of a gimme. Concidering Libras symbol is the scales you can connect it with gallows as both can be seen as objects relating to the execution of justice.

grimAuxiliatrix - Virgo. Another abrstact one. Again, as @homestuckreplay noted, auxiliatrix is Latin for a female assistant while the symbol for Virgo is a maiden so both have a female figure

Now for the guesses:

arachnidsGrip - there are no zodiacs pertaining to spiders, however, Scorpios symbol, the scorpion, is also an arachnid so this is likely their zodiac.

twinArmegeddons - Gemini is represented by the twins Castor and Pollux making this thier likely zodiac.

caligulasAquarium - here its more on the spelling than anything with aquarium being close to Aquarius.

arsenicCatnip - here we have more just simple association as Leos symbol is the lion which is, at its core, a cat.

cuttlefishCuller - same as arsenicCatnip, just simply associating cuttlefish with Pisces whos symbol is the fish.

centaursTesticle - likely Sagittarius as it's symbol is a centaur archer

terminallyCapricious and apocalypseArisen - these two don't have anything that really jumps out and says Zodiac. Seeing as the remaining ones are Aries and Capricorn, its likely just word similarities, Arisen = Aries and Capricious = Capricorn.

Anyway, Ill make a post later delving more into our confirmed trolls and the zodiac implications though its already clear to me that their connections dont really have much to do with personality stereotypes.

So you would agree with Hussie that she was nothing more than a JOKE character? That she would be written out to push someone else and create more filler characters instead of using existing ones? What type of alien would you say the trolls would be? Bugs? Lizards? Fish? Something else entirely?

this is a REALLY good question thank you!

so the trolls having a lightish gray skin (#C4C4C4 for all the ones we’ve seen so far) first made me think of ‘greys’, which are maybe THE most common type of alien in actual alien conspiracy theories, such as the roswell incident – the guys with big eyes, pointy chins, and shrinkwrapped light gray skin. however, our trolls have more humanlike facial features (by Homestuck standards), as well as a few other distinguishing characteristics. these trolls all have yellow eyes, pointy teeth, and yellow-orange horns of RADICALLY varying shapes and sizes. so, I'll look at how their traits correspond with different types of earth based animals.

pointy teeth could indicate carnivorous mammals, snakes, sharks, crocodiles, or some types of fish such as piranhas. yellow eyes appear all over the animal kingdom and are pretty common – one theory is that stalking predators are more likely to have light colored eyes, while prey and chasing predators are more likely to have dark colored eyes, while another theory suggests that eye color could relate to habitat and to whether or not the animal is nocturnal – but it’s only humans and domesticated species that show eye color variation, so trolls all sharing yellow eyes automatically gives them a wild animal association.

a singular pair of horns is also a very common animal trait, especially when you don’t go with a strict scientific definition – including mammals like goats and rhinoceri, chameleons and lizards, dinosaurs, and insects. interestingly, it seems like horns are fairly rare in aquatic creatures, although a couple species of cowfish are an exception. horns have different functions depending on species, although with the large variety of troll horns, it’s likely they’re not hyperspecialized – could be for mating/courtship, cooling the body down, or defense from predators.

features aside, there’s also the theming, and what the trolls actually say! most of the trolls have individual animal associations, which also tie into their zodiac associations – carcinoGeneticist with crabs, adiosToreador with bulls, arachnidsGrip with spiders, arsenicCatnip with cats, centaursTesticle with horses, cuttlefishCuller with fish, caligulasAquarium with marine life generally, terminallyCapricious with goats (specifically, sea-goats), and apocalypseArisen with rams. a very broad selection.

in pesterlogs, the trolls have mentioned bees (p.1099), human horses (p.1394), earth goats and earth monkeys (p.1590), and geese and cocks/roosters (p.1595) – so these are animals that the trolls are familiar with, but probably aren’t based on themselves. some other hints towards their anatomy are the lines ‘Common Infants Effortlessly Manage To Describe Via Scrawlings In Their Own Puddles Of Sloppy Discharge’ (p.1093), ‘IF I HAD ONE OF YOUR HUMAN STOMACHS’ (p.1394), ‘OF COURS3 W3 T4LK’ (p.1524) and GA’s later mention of a larynx (p.1592), ‘WIGGLING A GNARLED TREE MONSTER'S DICK’ (p.1603) and AT and CG both mentioning a bone bulge (p.1595, 1603). GC refers to smelling on multiple occasions (p.1524, 1528, 1580) so they have something equivalent to noses, and CG uses the term ‘FEMALE��� in reference to troll culture (p.1603), so they have some level of sexual dimorphism.

again this is pretty all over the place! the lack of a stomach feels like a big difference – a LOT of species of fish also don’t have stomachs, and neither do egg-laying mammals like platypi. lots of animals have a larynx, including fish, amphibians and reptiles – they don’t use it for speech, but GA doesn’t specifically mention doing so. AT and CG’s use of ‘bone bulge’ comes off like a vulgar term, the same way a human might say ‘suck my dick’ as an insult, so that combined with the use of the word ‘dick’ makes me think the trolls have humanlike genitals, but with a penis bone, something that’s common in carnivorous and insectivorous mammals. finally, GA’s evocative description of a struggling infant suggests that trolls babies are intelligent, but perhaps physically dependent on their parents in some ways.

so, following a whole bunch of animal research, I don’t think there’s a single clear answer the text is leading us towards. I’d guess that hussie’s intent is to give the trolls a wide variety of animalistic and alien traits to make them feel very different to humans, which both allows for creative worldbuilding without being tied down to a super specific theme, and sets up miscommunications between the trolls and kids.

however, my personal opinion is that the trolls are carnivorous sea mammals, and specifically, dolphins! this fits with their smooth gray skin, pointy teeth, vocalization, larynx, and possession of bones and penises (although they don’t specifically have a penis bone). dolphins give birth to a single baby who is completely dependent on the parent for food in their first few months. dolphins don’t have a sense of smell, which could mean that GC is the only troll who is able to smell, likely something she’s developed to navigate the world due to being blind.

dolphins have two stomachs, which could be why CG differentiates themself from human stomachs. dolphins don’t have yellow eyes or horns, but the horns could be borrowed/inspired by narwhals, particularly if we meet trolls who have a singular horn instead of a pair.

dolphins are thought of as extremely intelligent by human standards, which fits with the trolls presenting themselves as a highly advanced society in terms of temporal mechanics and sburb-playing abilities. also, four out of twelve trolls have aquatic-themed chumhandles, more than any other animal category.

also, I think an underwater sburb game sounds like a lot of fun!
