Thinking about Wymack putting up with Neil, alone, during his senior year. None of the other foxes are there to deal with his antics. Kevin isn’t there to talk about everything Exy related. Andrew isn’t there to keep him grounded and sane. Allison and Nicky aren’t pushing him out of his comfort zone with his style, appearance, etc. Matt isn’t there to be a friend. Dan can’t help him captain his team. Aaron isn’t there to annoy him. Renee isn’t there with her gentle, reassuring smile.

I know that some of the freshman from the EC become Neil’s friends, but it isn’t the same as the OG Foxes.

So, he turns to one of the few people he trusts, Dad Wymack™️. Neil joins him in his office for lunch and tells him all about Andrew’s most recent Exy game. “Did you see how many saves Andrew made last night?” 38. It was beautiful.” *heart eyes* Coach returns his attention to the paperwork he was working on when Neil walked in. He half listens as the striker explains a movie that Nicky said he needed to watch to understand current trends.

After a game night, Neil goes home with Wymack, who now lives together with Abby, and stays for dinner with the couple, yapping about everything that plagued him that day. “I talked to Andrew last night and he was telling me about this drill his pro team does at practice. He thinks it’s stupid, of course, but I think it could help us get through the other team’s defense easier.” He goes on to explain the drill between bites of pasta and sauce.

When Neil leaves, Coach looks at Abby, feeling slightly dumbfounded, “I never knew the kid could say so many words in such a short time.” Abby lets out a chuckle.

“I don’t get any paperwork finished anymore with him around so much.” He explains with fake annoyance. She gives him a soft smile, “He just misses Andrew and the rest of our Foxes. I think it’s says a lot that he trusts you with the details of his private life. We all know how hard that is for him.”

Dad Wymack sits in his thought for a quiet minute, thinking back to the locker room in Millport with the brown-haired, brown-eyed boy who was scared to live. To the airport before the new year with the red-haired, blue-eyed boy who was fighting for his family. To a cheap motel in Baltimore with a boy covered in scars who fought to stay and live. Neil has come a long way and Wymack’s chest swells with pride and love for the striker.

Two days later, on Monday, Neil shows up right on time for Wymack’s lunch hour, but the older man doesn’t mind the sound of Neil’s chattering over their shared lunch. “Allison told me my hair is getting too long, but the shampoo she sent me is making my curls look “delicious”. I don’t know what she means by that, how hair can look edible, but Andrew says not to worry about it. Speaking of Andrew, do you know how much he has been bench pressing in the gym? He’s up to—“

Wymack lets out a quiet, exasperated sigh as he leans back in his chair, accepting his fate for the next year as Neil continues talking. He may act annoyed about his new lunch time guest, but it means a lot that Neil feels safe with him, even if that means learning about pop culture and Neil’s distaste for broccoli.

I think that the most special thing about David Wymack is the fact that he not only gives people another chance, but also doesn't force them to do anything with it. There are so many characters out there who give a second chance and are disappointed if the person doesn't then raise to their full potential, but not Wymack. He will give you a chance and what you do with it is entirely up to you. And if you fuck up he will give you another one, and another one and not once will he make you feel guilty for fucking up again.

I’m reading the extra content all the way through for the first time, going to cry over Wymack apologizing to Neil’s file after Andrew warns that he’s taking Neil to Columbia. Knowing that he’s choosing not to keep Neil safe by letting the cousins take him but letting them take him anyway because Andrew won’t let Kevin and Neil both stay on the team without knowing Neil’s secrets and Wymack wants to keep kevin. because he loved Kayleigh so much

Tattoos

Dead. David reminds himself as he stares at the picture, knuckles bone-white around the neck of a whiskey bottle. Dead.

He drags his gaze over the image making short mental notes, cropped, brown hair. Whiskey sears the back of his throat, brown eyes. His teeth sink into his tongue, huge, he swallows the taste of copper as his eyes catch on the markings that wrap up the man’s arms. Thick, black lines marked with sharp, inked spikes coil endlessly up corded muscle. Dangerous.

David’s seen the damage the real stuff can do. Remembers, years ago, stumbling across the body of a young doe. Its leg had got caught in the wire, it had fought tirelessly but its struggle had only pressed the barbs deeper, hooking them further into its flesh, scraping sharp points against bone, until it had become inextricably trapped. It must have hung there for hours, bloody, panting and broken, until its life had finally slipped away.

Andrew.

He swallows the acid clawing at his throat. Reaches out to chase it back down with his favourite poison, freezes as his eyes catch black flames. They lick up his skin, twisting and twining. Just like the wire on the dead man. The bottle falls to the floor with a thunk, curling fumes burn his nose.

A memory, sharp and clear, forces its way through his whiskey haze. Andrew’s hazel eyes slightly widening, his breath barely catching, as David reaches toward him. It’s almost nothing, but it’s enough for David to freeze. It’s silent until Andrew’s gaze shutters, then he lets his eyes trail up David’s bare arms and in a cold, bored voice he says ‘your tattoos are fucking ugly,’ before pushing himself off the counter, with the bottle David had been reaching to confiscate, and slamming the front door on his way out.

David had brushed it off as nothing. Now there’s a physical twisting in his gut that’s agonising. The memory replays, black flames, eyes widen, doors slam again and again and again. David presses his fingertips in hard as he grips his head, hoping the pain will help counter his building rage.

David stares at the dead man on the page and wishes he could kill him.

AFTG Foxes head canons

After Baltimore, Neil is trying to be more honest with the Foxes but he keeps accidentally lying on instinct. It's literally the simplest things too he'd be like that one audio:

Matt: What's your favorite color Neil? Neil: Blue. No! Green *winces*

Matt: awesome! I love learning new things about you! :DD

Neil: I fucked up it's gray

Neil starts to get really into bright colors after his past is revealed. He always had to blend in as a kid so he likes being reminded that he's a real person now by wearing pastel pinks and yellow

Andrew wears fuzzy socks. Like the ones that are two inches thick and soft af

Andrew has freckles in the summer and Neil's a little in love with them

Kevin dresses as a drag queen at least once when the Foxes won't stop making jokes about his tattoo

when the Foxes watch action movies with a lot of violence Neil starts critiquing them. He'll comment on the accuracy of wounds and torture scenes while the Foxes gag and boo him. Andrew's the one that realizes Neil's doing it because he's actually uncomfortable and starts shutting them down when they're suggested on movie nights

At some point when they're a lot older Neil is talking about to Wymack and somehow it comes up that Wymack is kind of all their adopted father's and Neil says that he's never thought of Wymack as a father because he's so wildly different from his own that he wouldn't disrespect Wymack's image like that, but he does think it's unfair that Kevin won the best dad lottery. It makes Wymack very emotional for a lot of reasons.

Allison is very invested in Jeopardy whenever it's on. She hates that Andrew is better at it than her because of his memory

Matt is a blanket stealer

I think Betsy has a pet snake. idk why I just think she does
