Here's another DAtober fill! Today's is fallen and features Dorian/Anders, meet cute, and Inky Anders

Anders’ heart is stuck in his throat as he walks through Redcliffe village to the chantry. Justice rolls inside of him, confirming his suspicions; something is wrong here. The rift they closed outside the gates manipulated time and now there’s a magister here, taking charge of the mages? Those two things can’t be a coincidence. 

He looks over his shoulder. The Iron Bull, Varric, and Solas are right behind him, ready to follow him in. He still doesn’t understand why they even trust him after everything. 

The mark on his hand sparks with energy and Anders’ eyes snap up, finding the room bathed in green. A rift flares with life but that’s not what catches his attention. 

There’s a mage to the left of the room, fighting a demon. He’s well dressed, physically fit, and Anders finds his face flushing as he watches the mage’s arms flex as he moves his staff. 

Holy fuck. 

“Good, you’re finally here!” The mage calls out, grinning over at them. Anders’ heart skips a beat as their eyes meet. His voice is just as beautiful as his well manicured face. “Now help me close this would you?”

With that, the four of them jump into the fray, fighting off the demons in order to give Anders an opening to close it. 

A demon pours from the rift, going straight for the hot mage that Anders can’t stop looking over at. His back is turned, his full attention on fighting off a different demon. Anders propels himself forward, using one of the yellow pockets of time magic to make himself impossibly faster. He swings his staff around, knocking the demon away from the other mage with the blunt end of his staff. He twists it around, using the knife at the end to slide the head straight from the demon’s shoulders. 

Once he knows the other is safe, he turns towards the rift, lifting his hand and using the mark to close it. It hurts. It hurts every time he does this but Justice is there to take some of the pain, soothing it enough to help him focus. 

Anders takes a breath before standing up and dusting himself off. He turns towards the gorgeous mustached man, finding him staring at Anders with equal parts fascination and admiration. 

Anders likes being under his scrutiny. 

By the Maker, what’s gotten into him?

“Fascinating, how does that work, exactly,” he murmurs, reaching over and touching Anders’ wrist in order to look at the mark more closely. Sparks run up his arm at the simple touch. “You don’t even know, do you? You just wiggle your fingers, and boom! Rift closes.”

“Who are you?”

“Ah, getting ahead of myself again, I see. Dorian of House Pavus, most recently of Minrathous. How do you do?”

Anders readjusts their hands in order to shake Dorian’s hand. A mage from Tevinter? What the hell is he getting himself into? And why is he about to throw himself into it head first?

Hello! I adore the wolfie that I can't spell the name of for the life of me (Vilkis? Villkus? Villkis?) and I wanted to know how he would react to his most despised cat petting him when he accidentally fell asleep in class

ahh tysm for liking Vilkas <3 this is such a cute ask~ I feel like this is how he'd react:

If you pet him while he was sleeping, he'd wake up (he's a light sleeper) and act all cranky, but his tail would go CRAZY wagging lol

He acts all tough but he's a real softie and loooves being pet haha

There's something so devastating about Jackson not letting Shirley see Marcus' body, but also not letting River find out about Sid's death from Ho, and also letting Louisa go back to work after Min's death.

Something about understanding the pain of losing a partner, wanting to protect them in some way, even if it's clumsy, even if it's wordless. He doesn't want Shirley to go out because he knows the horror that will torment her for the rest of her life, he doesn't want River to find out from Ho because he knows how difficult it is to receive that news, he lets Louisa continue her work because he never stopped either, he simply continued, continued until he couldn't do it anymore. Until the bottle was the only thing waiting for him on the other side.

Another DAtober today!! This one is whispers and features Inky Anders, Pre Dorian/Anders, and Skyhold at night!

Anders sets the last of the paperwork on his desk. Being Inquisitor isn’t as fabulous as some people might think. It’s not all fighting demons and closing rifts, there’s also piles and piles of paperwork. 

He carefully lets his hair out of its band, letting it fall around his shoulders in soft waves. If he forgets to untie it before he sleeps, it’ll leave him with a headache in the morning. 

Part of him wants to crawl straight into his bed for the night, but he picks up his staff and uses it as a walking stick as he heads down the stairs. Despite the late hour, he wants to check up on everyone and make sure they’ve put themselves to bed. There’s been too many nights he’s found Lady Montilyet asleep at her desk instead of in her bed. 

Once he’s in the main part of Skyhold, he makes his way to the Undercroft. He opens the door and peeks inside, finding it blissfully empty but for a few of Dagna’s latest inventions glowing softly. Interesting, he’ll have to ask about them tomorrow. 

Then he heads down the hallway, checking Josephine’s desk. When that comes up empty, he heads to the war room. Cullen and Leliana are both gone. He walks over to the table but Justice nudges him away, knowing he’ll get caught up in planning instead of resting if he’s not careful. 

Anders’ next stop is the rotunda. Thankfully, Varric is already gone to his loft. There’s still a bit of tension between them and he’d rather not make awkward conversation tonight. 

Solas is asleep, probably deep within the fade. Justice perks up, wanting to chase after him once they’re asleep. The two of them seem to be developing some sort of special relationship and Anders can’t find it in himself to mind. The elf is growing on him, but Justice will have to wait just a little while longer. 

Going up the stairs, Anders’ heart speeds up. As much as he wants Dorian to already be sleeping, there’s a little part of him that hopes he’s still awake. It must be his lucky night. 

“Anders?”

Anders’ shushes him, looking over the railing to make sure Solas is still asleep. “Quiet, everyone is sleeping.”

“Oh dear, how scandalous! The inquisitor is visiting me in the thick of night. What will people say?”

Anders finds himself smiling. He does that a lot these days, especially when he’s around Dorian. It’s a nice change. 

“I was making sure no one was staying up and working too hard,” he says pointedly. 

“What will you do now that you’ve found me like this? Spank me? Please tell me it’s a spanking.”

Anders shakes his head, chuckling softly to himself. “You’re worse than Isabela.”

“If that’s true, I must meet this woman.”

“Come on. Time for bed.” His face heats. “In your own bed.”

“Pity,” Dorian says with a smirk. “You too, darling.” 

Anders smiles all the way back to his room.

I’m trying to document all the signs in Slough House (inspired by this from @your-mighty-words-astound-me)

If anyone with better eyes than me can read some of the ones below that I can’t decipher, that would be wonderful! Here we go:

The classic ‘NO WET SPOONS IN THE SUGAR!’. This was definitely scribbled onto this post-it angrily by Catherine after she had once again found a wet spoon in the sugar.

‘NEVER REMOVE THIS PLUG ⬇️’ with plug underlined twice. That plug is probably keeping the whole building from exploding or something.

‘OUT OF ORDER’ on the lift, which has probably been there for about ten years.

‘If the water bottle is empty PLEASE REPLACE IT’. And a no smoking sign above it.

‘NOTICE TO ALL. WHEN USING SPONGES OR CLOTHS PLEASE SQUEEZE OUT WATER FIRST BEFORE LEAVING IT ON WORKTOP.’ Poor Catherine having to deal with these messy children.

‘LADIES AND GENTLEMAN, PLEASE HAVE SOME RESPECT WHEN USING THE KITCHEN AREA. DO NOT LEAVE UNWASHED DISHES IN THE SINK AND PUT YOUR DISHES AWAY.’ Thank you @abubblingcandle! The last bit is too obscured to read it clearly.

Think this one may be ‘Keep This Door Clear. Nothing to be leant ^up on this area.‘ It’s in Catherine’s office.

I just enjoy that there’s one of these on Catherine’s and Jackson’s office doors. She definitely put them there.

There’s also a written No Smoking sign on the landing - you can see it here behind Aimee in one of Gisele’s photos, and I’m pretty sure it’s visible in one of the episodes too, I just forget which one!

Thank you for reminding me of this one @too-many-rooks. ‘Your designated smoking area is NOT HERE’. Once again, this was definitely written by Catherine.

Thank you @daincrediblegg for reminding me of this one, and @timrousbeastie and @thebeigelunatics for their explanations. I wasn’t aware that this meme existed, but it’s highly enjoyable that the Slow Horses have stuck this up in the kitchen. According to @your-mighty-words-astound-me, the number scribbled on to indicate how many days it’s been since the last incident is 25,915,655,XXX (twenty five billion, nine hundred and fifteen million, six hundred and fifty five thousand, and an indecipherable three digit number that's been crossed out and another number written above).

This one made me laugh. ‘HELPFUL REFRIGERATOR CHART’ is so Catherine after her lunch has been eaten (by Lamb, probably) or one of the Slow Horses complain to her about their lunch being eaten. I can’t read it exactly, but the first line is ‘Did I bring this in?’ followed by arrows to Yes and No, which presumably point to ‘Eat or drink your lunch’ and ‘don’t’ Lol.

I’m guessing Moira scribbled her name out? I could also see Lamb doing it angrily and drunk when he realised she might not be coming back, or when he received the third letter from HR that required his signature to finally dismiss her, but at the same time, if he was holding out for her return, I can’t see him scribbling her name out. Also, I wonder if Catherine has ever given first aid to anyone in Slough House.

Another one from the kitchen, nicely spotted by @your-mighty-words-astound-me. ‘KEEP THIS AREA CLEAN. (YOUR) MOTHER ISN’T HERE (SO) CLEAN UP (AFTER) YOURSELVES.’ Another one definitely put up by Catherine.

‘Our aim is to keep this bathroom clean… Gentlemen… Your aim will help. Stand closer - it’s shorter than you think. You can do it!’ Of course, this is hung above Jackson’s toilet in his bathroom. I do wonder how many years ago Catherine put this one up, because I can’t see her having entered that bathroom for a while.
