The Vodou Files
Diddy & his entitlement an blatant disrespect of Lwa Ezili Dantor/Black Madonna
Tumblr media
For all intent and purposes, the following information is alleged and for entertainment only.
In year of 2024, it’s no secret that Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is a polarizing figure. After his recent arrest and federal indictment this September on charges of s*x trafficking and more, and with multiple lawsuits alleging a multitude of abuses against men and women, this cannot be denied.
Let’s get into the possible spiritual implications of his recent arrest. In 2017 Diddy tattooed the Black Madonna aka Ezili Dantor on his back, for protection. The Black Madonna syncretism is often been used in Vodou to represent the Lwa Dantor.
Here’s a rending of the photo of Ezili that he seems to have taken inspiration from for his tattoo.
Tumblr media
Ezili Dantor is the patroness and holy mother of Haiti. She is known as a protector of women and children, and was one of the petro or war spirits who were instrumental in the Haitian Revolution of 1804, allowing the Haitians to lead the first successful slave uprising. She assisted with giving them the strength in battle to defeat their colonizers and inspired others to resistance in the Diaspora. France went bankrupt during the Haitian revolution and had to sell off their land to pay off the massive debt this caused, spurring the Louisiana purchase and leading to creation of America as we know it, today. These acres of land make up the states of Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, North & South Dakota, Minnesota, Wyoming and Montana. There would be no American Independence, if it hadn’t been for the Haiti.
While Ezili does not own my head, I know her children. They are usually women who are family matriarchs and mothers, who are incredibly kind, patient and strong and actively involved in their communities. They tend to be well respected within their communities and usually involved in community activism to varying degrees. They generally have a pleasant disposition but can be dangerous fighters when challenged spiritually and physically. They make great leaders and can be very wise. It is common for children of certain Lwa to take on similar traits of said Lwa & I believe this aspect can especially be seen in her children, who she claims. While I do not have her in my court, I do carry her sister aspect the darker, merciless and vengeful Le Rouge.
The Ezili are a powerful class of spirits within the Vodou pantheon. Ezili Dantor is an example of a very powerful spirit who can shift fate and reality. She is the peaceful mother but can exhibit extremely controlled violence when necessary, a triumphant warrior queen personified. She does not take disrespect or injustice lightly.
Diddy invoking her essence and protection, with this tattoo while assaulting and harming people continuously would draw her ire, wrath and ultimate disrespect. Some think someone recommended he do this to hasten his downfall or he did this out of pure stupidity.
Others of the Catholic faith, see it as the Holy Mother, the Blessed Black Madonna looking out for her children and protecting them.
Either way it’s clear the drums of justice have begun to beat for Diddy and it’s time for him to account for what he has done.

Erzulie Dantor, the fierce and protective loa in Haitian Vodou, embodies a powerful, resilient feminine spirit. She is often seen as the protector of women, children, and the vulnerable. Her presence encourages self-worth, pride, and inner strength.
If Erzulie Dantor were speaking to you about your worth, she might say:
1. Embrace Your Strengths: Erzulie Dantor honors resilience and determination, reminding you that your strength and uniqueness are your worth. You are capable of protecting yourself, even in challenging situations, and should embrace your tenacity.
2. Guard Your Heart, But Know Its Value: She is fiercely protective, especially of her heart and those she loves. She might advise you to be mindful of those you allow close to your heart. Recognize that love is powerful, and not everyone is deserving of yours.
3. Take Pride in Your Heritage and Identity: Erzulie Dantor often represents the marginalized and those whose identities are overlooked or misunderstood. She would encourage you to honor your background and recognize how these unique aspects contribute to your self-worth.
4. Do Not Let Others Define You: Known for her defiance against oppression, she would likely remind you that your worth comes from within, not from the opinions or judgments of others. You are defined by your own beliefs and actions, not by society’s standards.
5. Trust Your Intuition: Erzulie Dantor would encourage you to trust your inner voice. She is known to be very perceptive, and her energy supports those who listen to their instincts. Your worth is tied to your self-awareness; honor that intuition.
In essence, Erzulie Dantor teaches that your worth is unbreakable, rooted in your identity, strength, and self-respect. Your value is as fierce and sacred as her spirit.

Hector Hyppolite - Catholic Imagery
Hector Hyppolite practiced a form of Haitian Vodou that intermingled with Roman Catholicism. This is most obvious in the painting below, The Congo Queen. Immediately, the iconography of the painting looks like Christian depictions of the Madonna and Child, but this central figure is actually Erzulie Dantor. She is one of the primary goddesses in Haitian Vudu and is the goddess of love, motherhood, and femininity. She has many different representations---like the mermaid that we will see in a later post---but is also commonly depicted as the Madonna. Some scholars believe that followers of Vudu began depicting her in a Christian way to avoid being detected by their Christian colonizers.

Hurricane Turning Ceremony In New Orleans.
Tumblr media
A public ceremony to our lady of Prompt Succor & Ezili Dantor.
The ceremony is held every year in July. So if you want to attend see the island of salvation botanica website. Mambo Sallie Ann credits the powerful intercession of Erzulie Dantor and Our Lady of Prompt Succor for saving the city, and reminded everyone present that the storm’s last minute turn was not only miraculous but was the only thing that spared the city. The crowds of 50 plus gathered to attend.
Who is Our Lady of Prompt Succor. She is the Blessed Mother, Patroness of Louisiana, whose feast day is celebrated on January 8: The Ursuline Convent in New Orleans was threatened by a great fire on Good Friday in 1788. One of the nuns brought a statue with Our Lady holding the infant Jesus to the window and prayed: “Our Lady of Prompt Succor, we are lost if you do not come to our aid.”
The wind changed, turning the flames away and saving the convent. It is still customary for the people of New Orleans to pray before the statue of Our Lady of Prompt Succor whenever a hurricane or harm threatens the city. On January 8, 1815, during the Battle of New Orleans, General Andrew Jackson asked the Ursuline Nuns to pray for him and the city, because the American troops were outnumbered. A courier ran into the chapel during communion to inform all those present that the British had been defeated. The battle was over in 30 minutes.General Jackson went to the convent himself to thank the nuns for their prayers. He stated, “The divine providence of God through the intercession of Our Lady of Prompt Succor has shielded us and granted this stupendous miracle. ”Pope Pius IX authorized the public devotion to the Marian title on September 21, 1851, and designated the 8th of January as its feast day of thanksgiving. On June 13, 1928, in a decree from Rome. So you see she is important to the city and the state of Louisiana and bring a Vodou state we incorporate Erzulie Dantor with our Lady because she is the spirit of not only passion but storms. She helps.
Tumblr media
most of the people you see came to participate in this ceremony.

Offering To Bring. Bring with your or add a few significant offerings: white candles and flowers for the Holy Mother; Barbancourt Rum, Florida Water, candles, daggers, dolls dressed in red and blue with gold trim , spicy black beans, peasant cakes, unfiltered cigarettes,
last pray to both let the know what your looking for help in.
Tumblr media
Asking those present to honor the protectresses with offerings, Mambo Sallie Ann ☝️also stated that the Loas have spoken to her in many ways since Katrina’s strike and that the spirit world is entreating all of us to be more mindful of the natural world surrounding us.
Tumblr media
Lady of Prompt Succor.
This Voudou ritual is specifically designed to summon the protection of the spirit world against the devastating hurricanes that often plough in from the Gulf of Mexico. It is also dedicated to the Catholic Lady of Prompt Succor and to Ezili Danto, the Vodoun Lwa of Storms and Passion. Manbo Sallie begins each ritual with a description of the powers of each intercessor. The Catholic priests of local churches adjacent to the Mississippi River would bring out a blessed statue of Our Lady of Prompt Succor to literally face down the threatening hurricane and turn it in its path, keeping the city safe.
Tumblr media
Erzulie Dantor above
Erzulie Dantor, on the other hand, is delighted by storms and the mayhem they can cause, however, if she is appeased with offerings and ritual, she will divert the storm's fury and protect those who acknowledge her power. Neither intercessor should be taken lightly, says Mambo Sallie Ann, and especially if Dantor is called it is wise to leave her offerings in thanks for her appearance and continued protection.
Just as in ceremonies past, the beautiful singing, drumming and dancing is designed to call Dantor, a powerful, fiery Loa, from across the Abyss to be present among us.
People if you follow me then you know I don't believe in its only a blk practice, spirit dont judge there not racist the mombo above yes is white but also has been initiated in Haitian Vodou and one of the few non blk women who really is.

your next quantum leap
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Message: hey, first “big” reading in a long time, I hope that you guys haven’t been feeling like I’ve neglected doing readings I’ve been undergoing a lot of changes and working a lot behind the scenes as of lately! Thank you so much for waiting and being patient with me! I love you and I hope that everything is going well and if it isn’t that it shall pass and you’ll receive peace very soon.
***
i.
pile one, your next quantum leap brings the gift of love and relationships or comes under the cover of love and relationships. You are receiving your ten of cups finally, divine love, true love, fulfillment, etc. or are in the process of preparing for it’s arrival. I see flowers as a representation of growth and transformation. Many of you are feminine energies. The flower of a plant is the seed bearing part of a plant, you’ve been planting seeds or are in the process of releasing them in order for them to be dropped down into the soil to grow. Many living organisms also help in the process of spreading the seeds of a plant by helping to disperse them. Someone you will love and someone who loves you is coming into your life (or for some of you is already present) and they will help you plant your seeds, and help you grow as well. The imagery in the picture for pile one is a woman standing in the center of a garden, she’s topless/nude and I feel like that represents vulnerability and receptivity. There is nothing but growth around her.
This upcoming season, throughout these next few weeks and months, you may need to learn to outgrow the habit of selling yourself short, minimizing your value or minimizing the possibility of miracles or things working out in your favor. There are gifts for you, there are blessings for you, there are manifestations for you to receive, the seeds that you’re planting will have grown and be ready to harvest but it’s up to you whether you’ll be collecting what you’ve grown and reaping the benefits of your hard work and cultivation. You’ve planted something, you should harvest it and put it towards your abundance and prosperity and let it bring you good things.
During this season, you may feel confused or disconnected from your intuition in a way, there’s a message here about not knowing what to do with what you’ll be receiving, feeling overwhelmed, or feeling as though you’re having to relearn everything you’ve ever known because your life has shifted so drastically. You asked for change, you asked for what you deserved and the universe gifted you exactly that. But because you’ve done things one way for a long time or have only received one thing for a long time, the gifts you receive may feel foreign to you, you’re about to shift into a new version of yourself. You’re finally shifting into your higher self. Transformation and rebirth are significant. You may feel passionate about children lately or motherhood. Or recieving lots of imagery or seeing lots of posts on social media about children, parenting and motherhood.
There’s a possibility you’ve gotten in arguments lately about what people deserve, what children deserve or what’s best for people or what’s best for someone in particular. There’s a diety who thinking of, I’m not super familiar with her, a Haitian deity named Ezili Dantor who protects women and children fiercely. This season you’ll be in the process of fully and wholly shifting into your feminine energy after a long time of having to switch back in forth from your masculine and feminine or having to step out of the energy of recieving and relaxation to push things into fruition or make things go in a way that you felt was right for you. Some of this behavior may have shown up frequently these past couple years in trying to force relationships to work or push people into being in alignment with you or giving you what you’ve deserved all along and/or even having to stand up and remove yourself from situations that weren’t serving you in order to open yourself up to recieving these gifts or open yourself up to moving into a period of ultimate rest and relaxation forever.
You’ll be working hard this season on building a foundation for yourself or continuing to work towards cultivating a life of prosperity, peace and abundance. You may be shifting your energy into your career, into your education or your finances. Whilst love is here, and you’re building your connections and are in flow and in tune with whomever this person may be, your external energy is focused on your material and physical world and preparing things for yourself. While your feminine energy is at ease, is being loved, is being fed on a soul level, your masculine energy is out creating a world for you, building a foundation, making a name. You’ve created balance. 👥. The wheel is turning in your favor, complete transformation, all blessings are coming in, the dam separating you from your manifestations and from everything you’ve earned all this time has began crumbling.
Oracle:
29 • Let Go • “The Blood Moon” • Full Moon • Mother : “the full blood moon is a time to let go. Here I painted the mother, breaking away from her past self, as represented in the shadow of herself, fading behind her. This mother is letting go of the past, and everything that haunts her soul, so she can move forward with the child that is inside her. it is time to let go of the past that has haunted you to this point. That is the person you used to be and even though that old self has allowed you to be the person you are today you are no longer that individual this card also represents that now is a perfect opportunity to release the negative factor in your life. This could be a person or a habit that harms your happiness or sense of self. Think about what you need to set free.”
39 • Personal Alchemy • “The Cold Moon” • Waning Moon • Crone: “ the waning, cold moon is a time for you to process the deep, embodied, yet personal inquiry of yourself as the crone is illustrated on this card she is reaching deep inside herself finding her soul represented in the glowing orb she holds within her chest. This indicates the time to start identifying the areas in your life where you want to make changes gather the resources to make those shifts plot out of plan, and then take steps to implement the new ideas, we engage with this process of change by breaking it up into small easily, implemented new habits. where in your life can you apply personal alchemy and start changing those patterns?”
7 • Explore • “The Crow Moon” • Waxing Moon • Maiden : “ the waxing crow moon is about exploring through your inner self to find what you may be missing within as this maiden is depicted walking through the forest, guided by her lamp glow, and her crow companion. She’s looking deep into the darkness she’s trying to find her true path and the courage within herself to move forward now is the time to explore yourself your surroundings, and even current connections you have with other people what new routes can you take to solve a current predicament you may be in? examine what is around maybe there’s a different path you can make such as a new job or a new class? this other avenue may guide you in the direction where you would like to be in life perhaps a connection with an acquaintance, or friend, may lead you to a unique opportunity.”
17 • Decisions • “The Mead Moon” • Full Moon • Mother: “ the full mead moon, is a time for decisions about how you harnessed the earths restless, energy and where you are going to apply it here the mother of the mead moon is depicted standing before two paths. She is looking upon these paths, deciding where she should refocus her life which will fulfill her soul. Time is up now is the time to choose one with conviction this card is a reliable indication that time is up, move forward and make that decision that has been bouncing around the back of your mind that decision that you’ve been hesitating to make act now to take steps toward a resolution to the problem, you have been mowing over, move forward in the direction that feels right in your soul.”
***
ii.
Pile two, your next quantum leap brings up the question of understanding your inner feelings, listening to your needs and desires and following and listening to your heart. There’s a message here about serving yourself Justice and exercising self love by allowing yourself to have what you’ve been asking/wishing for, or coming to terms with what you want and what you should do in order for you to be happy, prosperous, and fulfilled. This season you’ll be having some sort of breakthrough, coming to a conclusion, or coming up on a new idea. Whatever this new idea or decision might be for you may lead to communication between you and others or you and someone and particular. Emphasis on new communication. You may say something you may have not usually have said or you may say something or express something or communicate something you had not intended to say or share for a long while or until way later.
There could also be new news you’ll be sharing with your friends and family and loved ones regarding something incredibly significant. While one side of you on an internal scale will be focused on serving yourself Justice, focused on self love and the cultivating of a space space on for yourself and others and preparing you for the overcoming of a new obstacle or the receiving of a new opportunity. The other side of you, on an external scale will be focused on gaining financial independence, saving and investing money, or bringing more stability to your financial life. You could be saving up for something special, budgeting, or preparing to make a large financial investment or move soon. Some of you are masculine energies, and are shifting into the energy of a provider. You may be about to offer someone your cup or offer someone stability or commitment.
You could’ve been unsure about something or in the process of coming to conclusion(s). Throughout this season whatever this is will be heavily on your mind, and you’ll come to some sort of resolution or realization. Mental breakthroughs on whatever this is are in store for you within the next couple of months. You may be working through any deep seated fears, healing karma (detaching from karmic behaviors, habits, people, etc.) on an independent and personal level. You’re preparing yourself for a transformation or a shift in your reality. A lot of this could have to do with love and relationships and the decision to move into the energy of love or the energy of recieving love and preparing yourself to be in a long term commitment. Financially, mentally, and emotionally.
The world card upright signifying completion of cycles, integration, and accomplishments. You may also find yourself traveling or planning to travel very soon.
Oracle:
21 • Dreamwork • “The Buck Moon” • Waning Moon • Crone : “ the waning buck moon is a wonderful time to undertake dream work for this card. Here is the crone with a swirling universe in the front of her like luminescent Stardust. butterflies float around her in a dreamy landscape. The crone gazes at you as if she can see your inner self by doing so she tries to get your soul to manifest the imagining in your mind, this card encourages you to look back at your recent dreams and consider what you may have conjured in your sleep. Dream work is the process by which the unconscious mind alters the manifest content of thoughts to decode their real meaning for the dreamer, your higher self, or your dream self has been waiting for you to start paying attention. What were you dreaming about? What could be the meaning behind such images and emotions? were you afraid in your dream angry, or forlorn? try to think back to your vision and reflect on what your inner self is telling you.”
20 • Prepare • “The Buck Moon” • Full Moon • Mother: “ the full buck moon is the time to prepare. It is time to make something ready for use in your current situation. The mother is illustrated on this card, perched upon a pillar, as she has been given a place to concentrate on the strategy that she is preparing for her current undertaking, this is a strong signal that it is time for you to develop a plan. is there a business idea you would like to launch or maybe you are looking to remodel your home? sit down and write out the necessary steps you need to get this project in motion maybe it is time for you to start packing for a trip or organizing your home for a new baby. consider where in your life you may need to make some preparations and plans.”
37 • Reach Out • “The Cold Moon” • Waxing Moon • Maiden: “ the waxing cold moon, represents a time to reach out to another as the maiden is illustrated here strong in both carrying an owl upon her shoulder she stretches a hand out to help those in need now is the time to make an effort to do something for other people. This indicates that it is essential to lend a compassionate hand to those in need. Maybe there’s a classmate who may need help on a paper where you excel reach out and offer your support. Perhaps there’s a person who is struggling with addiction who needs encouragement? Where in your life can you do something good for another?”
35 • Take Root • “The Snow Moon” • Full Moon • Mother: “ a full snow, moon is a time to become established in your life to take hold of a new idea, or a way you wish to live. The mother is illustrated on this card firmly rooted to the earth. Timing is ideal to take an idea or belief and make it become established or accepted. If you believe that, you would be happier, living a vegan lifestyle. This could be the time to embrace and commit to it maybe you moved to a new city, and you have been feeling alone, consider volunteering or spending more time in your community. where in your life do you need to be accepted to have a permanent solid base to turn to? time to take root and do what is necessary to be a part of that World.”
***
iii.
Pile three, your next quantum leap has everything to do with you coming to terms with and finally feeling some deeply rooted emotions regarding where you stand in life, what you’re doing, what you’re accepting and some of the decisions you’ve made. This will ultimately lead you to walking away from something or making better choices but first comes the storm before all things can be watered after months without proper rain, before the dirt that hides the truth is washed away, and before we can step into peace and alignment with what is necessary for us to be fulfilled and happy. There’s a catalyst under way or you are in a position where you are experiencing one. You could’ve caused someone or others a great deal of trauma or pain, and in the process caused yourself a great deal of trauma and pain. This is your karma for some of the decisions you’ve made. But, with karma comes resolutions for everyone. You’ll get to see what happens when you make choices that aren’t in alignment with you and when you make choices at the expense of others.
You may be dealing with issues regarding co-dependency, may have karmic issues and cycles to heal regarding your parents, your childhood, addiction, certain people you choose to love and be around, etc. you’ll be dealing with a heart chakra opening and an awakening regarding how you feel and how you’ve made others feel. I hear ambulances out side of my window. There might be a great tower moment in store for you this season. A rude awakening or a long time moment of depersonalization that has caused you to step outside of yourself and reality in order to look at everything from a distance or different perspective.
You may also have a spiritual awakening for some of you. Whilst as a whole, your status quo, belief systems, and regular way of behaving and thinking will be challenged and broken down. Your old way of doing something or doing things may not be working out for you or in your favor any longer. You may struggle with accountability, struggle with confronting your feelings and accepting feelings of loss. There may be elements of your past that threaten to come up and break your heart as you’ve been done nothing to aid in or heal your past heart break. I’m getting a message about a phantom itch or phantom pain, something or someone who’s no longer there anymore is resurfacing for you on an internal level and bringing you pain and revelation. You’ll have to be strong, you’ll have to be willing to fight through this in order to get to a better place and find true peace.
You may find that things you want may not all be available to you any longer due to your choices and your decisions, but don’t be discouraged, there will be more for you to receive when the time comes to be rewarded for hardship. But you must do the inner work. Your past and your negligence is confronting you and you’ll have to face the consequences of your actions. Once in for all. You feared your shadow, you feared what the consequences would be for all that you ran from, all that you didn’t take accountability for, and all the damage you may have done with the intention to protect yourself or shield yourself for more wounding but it’s here for you. All you can do is learn from it. This energy is heavy and there’s a lot of heart break and defensiveness coming through here. You’ll make it through, I’m sure of it. But it won’t be easy. Surrender. If you run anymore, you’ll be sorry.
Oracle:
33 • Prophecy • “The Blue Moon” • Waning Moon • Crone: “ the waning, blue moon is a time for prediction and foresight as the crone is shown upon this card there is a skull referring to the past, and how she can use that for insight going forward. future selves are pictured as ghostly figures around the wise woman, and the raven represents divination and awareness. Now is the time to use past experiences to predict the outcome of a current state of affairs. It is also time to seek knowledge of the future, or the unknown by supernatural means. reflect on what has happened in the past, and how that can likely happen again. how did you react previously to a specific situation? Do you want to act that way again or is it time to change paths, maybe a loved one treated you poorly before and may do so again with current circumstances think about possible outcomes to the events that are about to unfold.”
14 • Propagating Energy • “The Hare Moon” • Full Moon • Mother: “ the full hair moon is a time to cultivate, or tap into the tulleric current, which is the energy that derives from the heart of the Earth. Here the mother of the hare moon is pictured holding the earth in her hands as the current of energy swirls from the center. She is cradling this earth energy in her palms, ready to use it within herself to make her strong and intuitive. This card represents the need to gather your personal energy. you need to take inventory of all your unused or more importantly your misused power and store it for an essential purpose. Have you ever been in the situation that drained you of your vitality? Is there a specific person you deal with who depletes you? Reflect on what parts of your life are diminishing your energy, and how to pull that energy back to you and redirect it towards a better purpose.”
31 • Honoring The Past • “The Blue Moon” • Waxing Moon • Maiden: “The Waxing Blue Moon represents a time to honor your past. Here the Maiden is pictured cradling a skull in her hands, honoring the dead or those who have gone before. The raven represents prophecy and insight into that past, where she can grasp the full meaning of how those experiences impacted her life. It is time to recognize what has passed in your life. Understand that without those bygone days, you would not be the person you are today. It may be that you honor the past you, the unenlightened you, the you who did not know back then. Maybe it is time to praise the integrity of someone in your past, like a parent or friend. This person's advice may have led you to the right path. Think about the lessons learned, and let those ethics and morals guide you in the future.”
4 • Purification • “The Ice Moon” • Waxing Moon • Maiden: “The Waxing Blue Moon represents a time to honor your past. Here the Maiden is pictured cradling a skull in her hands, honoring the dead or those who have gone before. The raven represents prophecy and insight into that past, where she can grasp the full meaning of how those experiences impacted her life. The Waxing Crow Moon is about exploring through your inner self to find what you may be missing within. As this Maiden is depicted walking through the forest, guided by her lamp glow and her crow companion, she is looking deep into the darkness. She is trying to find her true path and the courage within herself to move forward.”

Erzulie
Tumblr media
Venerated in Haitian Vodou, Louisiana Voodoo, Folk Catholicism
Attributes Pale bejeweled woman, pink dresses, three wedding rings, heart-shaped medals, heart pierced by sword
Patronage Love, health, beauty, homosexuals, passion, prosperity, perfumes, jewelry, flowers
Erzulie Fréda Dahomey, the Rada aspect of Erzulie, is the Haitian African spirit of love, beauty, jewelry, dancing, luxury, and flowers. She wears three wedding rings, one for each husband - Damballa, Agwe and Ogoun. Her symbol is a heart, her colours are pink, blue, white and gold, and her favourite sacrifices include jewellery, perfume, sweet cakes and liqueurs. Coquettish and very fond of beauty and finery, Erzulie Freda is femininity and compassion embodied, yet she also has a darker side; she is seen as jealous and spoiled and within some Vodoun circles is considered to be lazy. During ritual possession, she may enter the body of either a man or a woman. She enjoys the game of flirtation and seduces people without distinguishing between sexes.
Tumblr media
A common syncretic depiction of Erzulie Dantor is St Jeanne d'Arc, who is displayed carrying or supporting a sword. She is replicated in the likeness of the Black Madonna of Częstochowa, characterized by her dark skin and the presence of two scars on her face. The colors associated with her are red, gold, and navy blue. Her emblematic symbols include a pierced heart and either knives or swords. Her favourite sacrifices include black pigs, griot (seasoned fried pork), and rum.
Erzulie Freda (Lady Erzulie) - The vain and flirty goddess of love. Her "horses" tend to cry tears of longing and regret. She is syncretized with Our Lady of Sorrows (the Virgin Mary as suffering mother).
Erzulie Mansur (Erzulie the Blessed) - Represents maternal love and protects children from harm.
Granne Erzulie (Grandma Erzulie) - Represents the wisdom granted by experience and maturity and grandmotherly kindness and love. She is syncretized with St. Anne, the mother of the Virgin Mary.
Erzulie D'en Tort or Erzulie Dantor (Erzulie of the Wrongs) Protects women and children and deals revenge against those who wrong them.
Erzulie Balianne (Erzulie the Gagged) - "Silences" (heals or calms) hearts. Keeps secrets or ensures that secrets will not be revealed. Helps people to forget past loves and overcome passionate emotions. Her "horses" tend to speak as if they have a gag in their mouth. She is syncretized with The Immaculate Heart.
Erzulie Mapiangue (Erzulie the Suckler) Deals with the pain of childbirth and the protection of unborn and newborn babies. Her "horses" tend to get in a fetal position or birthing position and cry tears of pain. Common syncretization is as the Virgin and Infant of Prague, which wear matching red velvet robes and gold crowns.
Erzulie Yeux Rouge or Erzulie Ge-Rouge (Red-Eyed Erzulie) Takes revenge on unfaithful lovers. Her "horses" cry tears of bitter sadness.
Erzulie Toho Aids the jealous or slighted in love. Her "horses" cry tears of anger.
Others
Erzulie La Flambeau (Erzulie of the Torch)
Erzulie Wangol (Erzulie of the Sacred Banner)

Note
It wouldn't be quite the usual biographical format because she is a spirit in Vodou rather than a historical person, but you could consider doing an episode on Ezili Dantor (there are various spellings of her name). She had a key part in the Haitian Revolution, and is also known as a protector of lesbians. I've also read that Vodou is often really important to queer Haitians today. I've only read a little about her, but from what I've seen I think there's some interesting scholarship on her https://lithub.com/the-literature-of-ezili-vodou-spirit-force-of-queer-black-womanhood/ https://www.advocate.com/current-issue/2016/10/31/why-queer-haitians-are-turning-vodou
Thank you for these suggestions! We're actually planning an episode quite soon looking at Romaine-la-Prophétesse, a figure from the Haitian Revolution, so this is very timely, thank you!

Retconned Names for “The Loa” (Hazbin Hotel)
I’ve decided to retcon the names of my DeviantArt OCs. These are their new names:
Papa Legba (Papa Lébat) → Big Papa / The Doorkeeper
Damballah → Sir Duke / Grandfather Serpent
Baron Samedi → Baron de la Mort (The Baron)
Maman Brigitte → Maman de la Vie (Grann Manman)
Erzulie Dantor → Lady Love
Ogun (Ogou Feray) → Ironman
Erzulie Freda → Lady Rose
("The Baron of Death" and "Maman la Vie" are Scrapped Concepts. They are now demons named "Lanmò" and "Lavi")
They mostly have song-themed names now.
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure!!!
To signify their importance to 19th century New Orleans Vodou, the characters inspired by Papa Legba and Damballah each have two names. Sir Duke is also called Grandfather Serpent, as a reference to “Grandfather Rattlesnake”, who probably has a common origin with Damballah.
For now, I am still calling them “The Loa”, but I’m fine with changing this to “lesser gods” if that’s offensive. It’s pretty obvious who inspired the lesser gods!
I rant about the rationale behind this decision below the cut:
After thinking about this seriously, I think it is irresponsible to name these characters after the actual deities.
I’ve grappled with this dilemma, since this really does break the naming convention of this show. If the St. Peter-type character is still named “St. Peter”, why should an exception be made? Because Vodou isn’t like Christianity. Christianity is the majority religion in America, and many other places in the world; Vodou is a minority religion that has this horrible history of demonization and mischaracterization. This goes all the way back to the 1800s (and earlier!), and has continued into the present day, with pieces of popular media like The Princess and the Frog and American Horror Story.
Whenever they appear in popular media, the lwa (or, characters named after them) are usually designed / written by people outside the Vodou community. As a consequence of this, outsiders have spread misinformation about Vodou and damaged the reputation of the community. Fans of Hazbin Hotel understand that these characters aren’t actually the deities they’re named after. But this context is not readily apparent to those outside of this fandom. If you don’t change their names, people will think that this show is trying to present commentary on the actual deities. Criticisms of cultural appropriation would be warranted.
We have to consider the popularity of a show like Hazbin Hotel, and the effects this has. If you search “St. Peter”, you’re not going to find “St. Peter (Hazbin Hotel)” in the top results. Again, Christianity is the majority religion in America. But if they existed in the cast, it is likely that images of “The Loa (Hazbin Hotel)” would pop up when someone searches for [insert name of actual lwa].
And this isn’t just any fandom... Let’s be real here. The Hazbin Hotel fandom is just full of horny little bitches (CAN”T RELATE!!!!). THE GOD OF WAR MASCULINITY AND BLACKSMITHING has no shot at ever appearing in the canon of Hazbin Hotel. But if he ever did, and his character design was actually good, there would be a shitton of bara porn of him…!
DUDE!!!!!! WHAT”S THE OPPOSITE OF A JIMMY NEUTRON BRAIN BLAST MOMENT????
IMAGINE someone going online, just trying to find information about how to pray to / perform a sacrifice for the lwa, and yeah. A bunch of Hazbin Hotel hen ties and hot ass yaois pop up!!!
STOP LAUGHING!!!
In all seriousness, it’s legitimately awful!
This is why I think it’s just irresponsible to name them after the actual deities. It’s just really disrespectful to the people who worship them!
On top of this, let’s consider Papa Legba specifically. Here, my “Papa Legba”-type character is clearly this weird Steven’s Universe fusion of Papa Legba and Dahomean Legba. I actually think it is completely warranted to pay tribute to Dahomean Legba, as he is the spiritual father of all jazz and blues musicians.
It’s a show about singing and history!!!!!
But this is how Papa Legba is portrayed in New Orleans Voodoo:
Tumblr media
Look at how he’s portrayed in art from the Vodou Renaissance!
Tumblr media
Not only has he been widely misrepresented in popular media! He is arguably the single most important lwa from New Orlean Vodou, especially to someone like Alastor who was born at the end of the 19th century!
It must be COMPLETELY sacrilegious to equate Papa Legba with Dahomean Legba!!!
I love him so much….but if you’ve seen what Dahomean Legba looks like…you know what I’m talking about… (THERE”S A REASOIN HE”S LIKE THIS, OK???!!!!)
It is not AT ALL my intent to equate those two deities, but if this character is named “Papa Legba”, that intent is not readily apparent!
I’m also afraid that I made “Big Papa” look too goofy. THIS IS GOING TO BLOW YOUR MIND but not everyone reads One Piece. It pains me to say this…b-but even Edwar D. Newgate looks a lil fuckin stupid to people who don’t read One Piece…!
To people who don’t read One Piece, this really could be read as “Holy shit!! You’re trying to make Papa Legba – arguably single most important lwa from New Orleans Vodou – look like a goofy fucking idiot!”
NO!!!!! I”M TRYING TO MAKE HIM LOOK LIKE MONKEY D. GARP BECAUSE I LOVE MONKEY D. GARP!!!!!!
…But yeah. This is why I decided to just change his name. He’s just called “Big Papa” now. I’m also going to try to tone down the goofiness a bit more. I’m really not trying to make him look like a goofy fucking idiot. My intent is to give him range, where he can be playful but also dignified and imposing when the situation calls for it. I actually want him to be a cool character!
Anyways, here’s trivia regarding the new names:
For the most part, they have song-themed names. “Big Papa” is derived from The Notorious B.I.G.’s “Big Poppa”. “Sir Duke” is derived from Stevie Wonder’s “Sir Duke”. “Lady Love” is derived from Lou Rawls’ “Lady Love”.  “Lady Rose” is derived from Louis Armstrong’s “La Vie En Rose”. The two Erzulie-type characters are both “Lady–” something, and their names are references to love songs because they are goddesses of love.
Originally, I was going to call the Ogou Feray-type character GOD WARRIOR because I love Marguerite D. Perrin, but that’s a stupid fucking name, and you can’t give who is arguably the single most important lwa a stupid fucking name! He is now named “Ironman” as a reference to Black Sabbath’s “Iron Man”. I don’t know if Tony D. Stark would let you get away with this…but this is what he’s named in my fanfiction.
When I have time, I do plan to go back and fix up the tags and issue a notice on my AO3 account. It just might take me a while to get around to this.
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS FOR THE PORTRAYAL OF VODOU
Because I am FULLY INSANE, I love to think to myself “What if the boys were actually in the canon of Hazbin Hotel?”
OBVIOUSLY no NSFW merch should be sold of them. As far as merch is concerned, they should be treated like St. Peter (Hazbin Hotel). If any merch of them was sold, the profits should be donated to the New Orleans Vodou community.  Not the commercialized side of it, that’s full of white people who are bastardizing Vodou. The ACTUAL keepers of the tradition, who are going to be of African descent. The thought THE LWA getting turned into commercialized products is just horrible to me… Donating all profits to the people who should actually receive it would really make the world a better place!
I share these thoughts, but ultimately it really doesn’t matter AT ALL what I think should be done. What actually matters is the opinion of people in the New Orleans Voodoo community. If the approach is not to retcon Alastor and to add more Voodoo-related elements to the show, surely the creative team behind Hazbin Hotel should hire consultants with expertise and connections to this community.
For example, I imagine my depiction of The Baron of Death is controversial. I REALLY tried not to emasculate him, but I think his depiction could be read the wrong way. There is a side of Vodou that is accepting of the LGBTQ community; there is another side that is very much not accepting of it. The consultant should have the final say on whether it’s OK to make one of these characters an actual trans headcanon. If the consultant is like “this is really uncomfortable and disrespectful”, then this should go on the cutting room floor. As I’ve touched on before, even LGBTQ communities have a problem with misrepresenting minority cultures. It is more important to portray this culture accurately, and their deities respectfully. There are other creative ways to work in LGBTQ (specifically, trans) rep into the show!
Another example: The inclusion of Ironman. I’m so CRAZY for even thinking about this… Kratos (God of War) has no shot at popping into Precure! But yeah. I would not want to exclude him due to his chief importance, but it is in fact inevitable that the horny ass bitches (like myself…) in this fandom will draw bara of THE BLACKSMITHING WARRIOR GOD OF MASCULINITY.  If the consultant is like “don’t include him” for this reason, then just don’t include him.
Thanks for coming to my TEDx Talk!

Do you work with other jinns? Or only Lalla Malika?
Djinns choose you, you don't choose them. There are others I'm interested in but I don't work with them because they never sent me any signs to work with them (well, I had signs from Mira in the past, but I was too afraid of pissing her off to start nurturing the relationship. She's not as forgiving as Malika if you mess up).
There are plenty of djinns I find interesting, like Maria, the various different Aishas, Rekya, Thuria and so on. But they're no more involved in my life than other entities I find interesting like the Hindu goddesses Lakshmi and Kali maa, the Buddhist spirit Yellow Tara, or the Vodou lwa Erzulie Freda Dantor. I like reading about them but that's as far as it goes.
