Here comes a New Challenger! You must crush them! #SF6ArtContest2
--
Hey howdy! I drew 13 full size guys (burgers & fries) during June instead of doing a Pride Month Art Piece, woohoo!
I challenged myself to do some crazy poses or complicated costumes (that I simplified) and had a lot of fun with them! To be fair, I think they're all pretty solid aside from Cammy and Guile, but I enjoyed drawing them too.
Full versions of the art below the cut!
Now they're in the order that I made them in, not in the order I stuck them up above.
Tumblr media
AKI, my beloved. Complex pose and her shading is a bit wonky, but I love her dearly. FANG is my main man in SFV (aside from Charlie, shocker, and Rashid, also shocker), so having her in SF6 is solid, especially since I can go bother Fang Fei whenever I want, lol.
Tumblr media
My Turbulent Boy!!! I main Rashid, so naturally, I had to draw him. He's cute, y'know? I also love his style and vibes. Top tier dumbass streamer boy. <3
Tumblr media
Cammy!! I have given her a Weird Looking Cat (Felicia from Darkstalkers) and mussed up her face, but I love her regardless.
Tumblr media
JP!! I love a good villain, and JP is one of the best in Street Fighter. I mean, to be fair, most of the villains in SF are great, but JP is stellar in my opinion. I love a dapper and deadly dude, y'know?
Tumblr media
It's ya boy, Jamie!! I spent WAY too much time on the sign and accidentally flattened the red of his outfit onto the line layer, but I think he looks good regardless. He feels like the kind of guy who'd hang off of a sign in China Town and keep an eye from up high, right?
Tumblr media
ELENAAAAA!!! The beats in my head drawing her Costume 3 were strong, lol. I love her so much. Her positivity? Great. Her kit? Great. Her vibe? Great. Her outfit? Great. My skill at playing as her? Shit, but I'm working on it.
Tumblr media
The lesser Charlie Nash, Guile! To be fair I made him skinnier - I work with enough Ripped Older Gents to know that the massive mass of muscle that Guile is will tone down in his later years and make him less of a meathouse and more of a toned figure, but I also can't draw thick muscles so I enjoyed drawing what my Sis called "twink Guile". His mug is a whole other story that I won't get into, though.
Tumblr media
Peace out, nerds, it's M. Bison! You guys know that one meme image, right? I had to draw SF6 Bison as that meme because the guy's died how many times at this point and is still a villain of the series? Either way, I had fun drawing Bison. Love his vibes. Love a good villain. Love a good character arc too, and SF6 Bison is really interesting.
Tumblr media
It's Mr. Smash Bros Himself, Ryu! I played more into Evil Ryu than actual SF6 Ryu, but again, I enjoyed it. His outfit 3 is so good too, and this pose allowed me to draw the back of it which is just MMM so good.
Tumblr media
Mai! To be fair, I wasn't going to draw any of the SNK guys for the contest, but Mai's casual look on the character select made me want to. I made her look less "ooh sexy woman" and more "she's just vibing", and hey, I think she looks great!
Tumblr media
Ed!! One of my other mains in SF6!! I love his outfit, I love that he plays Billiards, I love how he's kind of a dark protagonist yet somehow is still antagonistic, he's such a cool character. The guy's out here punching Neo Shadaloo as they keep trying to lump him in with them, and yet some of his win animations make you think he might be starting to lose it like JP. Bless.
Tumblr media
MARISA! MARISA! MARISA! I am not immune to Hot Woman in Video Game, for your information, and Marisa fits the bill. Her suit is just so perfect, and I had a lot of fun with this angle. Fun fact! The little :3 smile was a mistake that I kept because it looked fun! Also... I didn't do her makeup. I tried to, but it looked off, so I deleted the layer and moved on. I might redo the makeup later and add it on, but that'd be outside the contest.
Tumblr media
Oh jesus fuck. I've been playing FNAF:SotM a lot, and some of those mascot costumes are genuinely terrifying when they're chasing you. Blanka-Chan isn't that terrifying, but I wanted to press the vibe that it was WAY scarier than it actually was, and I think I pulled it off! Wall-Eyed Blanka-Chan is so good, lol. I did the shading differently on this than any of the others, AND forgot to colour in the suspender-clip thing, but I had fun. Also this made me laugh way too much when it wasn't shaded.
Tumblr media
Doofy-lookin' fuck. Also here's a look at my actual drawing file for all of these guys. They're just slapped on top of each other, and I saved each out seperately as a .psd for the contest, just in case, but when the announce the winners I'll probably delete the duplicate .psd files and keep the above .clip file.
Do I think I'll get picked? No. Am I checking Twitter every day just in case? Perhaps. Once the contest is over, am I going to resume not posting on Twitter? Yes. I'm on Bluesky and Tumblr now, and I keep my twitter for posterity's sake and potentially the odd contest that requires it.
My favourites have to be Bison, AKI, Rashid, Ed, Ryu, and JP. Not to say I don't love them all, but those are my top picks personally and if I do get selected, I hope it's one of them being added to the game. <3

A few years ago I thought "What if Dreamy Luigi got skins based off whatever dream world he's in?" Like in Alice Madness Returns.... Today I thought back on that.
Tumblr media
I did Neo Bowser Castle first, ironically this time.
I wanted to capture that moment where the green man himself is ready to beat the stuffing out of a certain vampire and koopa....
So what did I think of THAT in fashion form? A feathery cape, some armor... And stripped socks because he wears those, and some dapper boots to boot.
TW for next doodle?: Swear word.

Spirits of Vengeance...
(3)- the Rider (Yang) - Arrival in Vale
The late night shift of dock workers stumbled backwards away from water's edge. Before them something that could not be possible. Riding atop the boiling water was a motorcycle and rider flamed completely in flames.
Rolling up the nearest boat launch, rider and bike stopped. A skull head with rolling flames dancing from the rear, and part way down its back illuminating the darkness around it. It turned its skull head scanning the gathered stunned into inaction group of men and women. Flaming empty sockets serving as it's eyes.
It's jaws opened let free a twisted and sinister hiss, before the engine of the twisted and ominous looking bike roared and the entity tore up the remaining few feet of the boat launch. Pulling a very hard right turn, causing the rear wheel to carve a flaming groove in the asphalt surface of the loading area. It ripped away, and down the waterfront. A trail of flickering flames left in it's wake.
Yang's mind was cognizant of what was happening. OF the thoughts and urges her altered form was feeling. Yet she was puzzled as how and why they were racing along the docks. She personally had no idea where to find this Neo she had been tasked to "send home" yet somehow, they felt drawn towards the far end of the docks.
There trip ended a few minutes later, outside a derelict and abandoned looking warehouse. The Rider stopped before the main, slightly ajar loading dock doors. Setting the kick stand, they rose from their seat and stalked forward. Pausing at the flimsy barrier that was the steel paneled rolling dock doors. They stood there for a minute, their head twisting and tipping, almost as if they were trying listen to the activity inside the deteriorating building.
With a low hiss, the flame wreathed being moved forward, and with a wave of it's hand the flimsy steel barrier melted away.
"What the fuck?"
"What in the blazes is that freak?"
"Get the boss!"
Came the shouts of the suited, red tied men that filled the interior. Yang and the Rider stopped just inside. Their flaming skulled head studying the gathered group of individuals, numbering about a dozen.
"Neo." they hissed out, in an attempt to moved past these nuisances without wasting further time in removing them. "We're here for... Neo."
"Are you now?" came a voice from above.
Looking up they saw their target. The pink and brown haired busty figure standing to a rather dapper dressed man. How Yang knew that the short woman was who the Rider sought was lost on her. She just knew they had found her.
"Give her to me."
"I'm sorry, but I need my partner, so that's a hard," the male figure aimed his cane at the flaming being, "hard no."
The impact of the fire-dust round threw them backwards and into the wall of the building. Indenting it with their body.
"That's how you deal with interlopers, morons!"
"Sorry Roman." the suited men replied in a staggered set of voices.
"Now get back to work, and someone dispose of that..." Roman's rant was cut off by the shouts of his men.
"Holy fucking shit!"
"What the fuck?"
"Its still moving?"
The flaming being rose from where it had fallen. The fire covered skull tilting and twisting as if it had just been slapped, and not thrown into a corrugated steel wall.
"The Rider..." Neo whispered, breaking her self imposed silence of years.
"Neo?"
"SHOOT IT!" Neo screamed further surprising Roman.
The being let out an other-worldly roar as the men arrayed before them pulled their weapons and unloaded. The Rider just stood there unfazed by the sudden wall of lead rounds that slammed into their form. A glowing chain fell from it's hand and with a hissing growl they snapped their hand and arm forward and then swept it to the left.
The screams of agony and fear of those struck as they bust into flaming ash, caused the remainder of the assembled thugs to drop their weapons and make a break for it. They had just watched almost half their number be instantly incinerated. Fear and the instinct to survive over ruling all reasons to stand and fight.
Roaring they pulled back on the now flaming chain and snapped it to the right like a whip. Three more had their screams of fear and agony cut off as they like those struck earlier exploded into blooms of fiery ash. Roman stumbled backwards utter shock etched on his face at the sight before him.
The whatever the fuck it was, showed no indication that the hail of bullets that had struck it earlier had any effect. Then combining the ease of how it was viciously dispatching his gathered muscle, causing his mind to nearly snap as his legs refused to function, and a wet warmth spread in his groin.
Roman looked up and towards where Neo was, only to find her gone.
"Neo!" he screamed, only to cut off his own shouts as he felt something land on the catwalk he was laying upon. "No... no... stay away!"
"Hungry." the creature hissed as it t forward, leaving glowing prints upon the steel grates.
"No! No!" Roman cried out, terror seizing his heart as it closed and reached down forward. He was hauled to his feet by the lapels of his coat and found himself starring directly into the flaming sockets of it's skull.
"Mercy?" he whimpered.
"Sorry..." the Rider hissed. "All out of Mercy."
"NO!" Roman tried to struggle as agony rolled through his body as he felt insane heat flow into him. His dark green eyes grew wide with absolute agony as his body was slowly consumed by flames that grew from his feet, and licked their way up his disintegrating body until he was nothing but motes of fluttering ash in the air.
Seeing their true target had fled, they jumped down from the catwalk, and whistled. The flaming bike rolled in to the warehouse under it's own power. Mounting their chosen ride they screamed in rage at Neo having escaped him. The intense heat causing the boxes of stolen dust to combust and explode.
Riding out of the inferno, unscathed, the Rider turned to the left and raced off into the night.

At least Yaguchi didn't seem to mind how direct and blunt she was. Maybe because the woman didn't know her well: a member of the Future Foundation and not a part of the former Class 77-B. It was jarring, to say the least, for her fellow former Remnants when the smiles and gentle words they so often had attributed to Sonia, past and in the simulation present, had disappeared to make way for grief, sorrow, anger, and an inability to provide comfort whenever and wherever she was needed. Perhaps it made sense: she was no longer an Ultimate Princess. Still, Yaguchi didn't deserve to be the target of her vitriol: especially when she'd mentioned how she wasn't terribly fond of, or at least loyal to, her Future Foundation cohorts.
"It is strange and oddly humbling," She remarked, settling into her seat as the film began to play. "How foolish or unimportant the struggles of our past lives used to be, in the wake of The Tragedy. Though I imagine taking responsibility and understanding your past behavior will only help you going forward, even if you insist it is all academic. You are, at least, not a villain: not like the rest of us. We cannot even hope to find affection unless it is with each other."
Rather like the kaiju in the films her father had loved so much. Many of them having been created by man and the world around them, but after unleashing their strength and power into the world, they were seen as monsters and needing to be contained, if not destroyed. Sonia briefly wondered if Junko had gotten the idea for giant Monokumas destroying Tokyo from such films, and the resulting panic of the people helpless to stop them.
Helpless, however, was the last thing Sonia could think of to describe the protagonists of Whisper of the Heart. Several consumed snacks (Yaguchi) and a good amount of a flask (Sonia) later, the credits had begun to roll as the two characters on-screen both found their passions in life and each other. "To always keep working at what your passion is?" Sonia retorted, upon Yaguchi's admission that if she'd modeled her life like Shizuku had, she would've been a better person. Maybe there was a point to be made: no matter how lacking her writing was, she kept going. Maybe that was how Fukawa had lived her life pre-Tragedy: Naegi and Asahina had mentioned that she'd once been a successful author of various romantic novels, a talent that had both attracted a Hope's Peak scout and repelled the likes of Byakuya Togami.
Unfortunately for him, a post-Tragedy Sonia Nevermind was not above using such information against him when he truly got under her skin. The Jabberwock Island library had a few of Toko Fukawa's novels in its collection and early on, Sonia had decided to peruse them for several reasons: a possible escape from the melancholy of island life, an insight into a member of the Future Foundation, and an even better insight into all of the fictional men that, in some way, bore some resemblance to Togami. Naegi had said the Tragedy had changed him, but Sonia was still skeptical (apparently, he was a nicer person now than he'd been when Class 78 was shut inside the school).
Tumblr media
"I suppose I found the film difficult to relate to, as the characters were allowed, if not encouraged, to choose their own paths in life," Sonia sighed, balancing her flask on the arm of her seat. Her coordination was still present and accounted for: it was the sort of buzz she now required in order to get through the day without a tantrum or breakdown now. "Even now, after everything, I am not afforded such things. I rather think your organization finds that to be a suitable punishment for me: follow your prescribed path and be susceptible to murder, or remain here and perish."
If Yaguchi had grown out of her dark, bleak attitude as a teenager, Sonia had now taken up the slack for her instead. But at least she too saw merit in the film's feline character, including his flamboyant style. "I liked the story fabricated for the Baron and Louise," Sonia perked up, nodding: two teenagers with only endless hope for the future didn't stir much within her, but a gallant cat? That was different. "But I think his character is even more fascinating in The Cat Returns. It is not a direct sequel, so to speak, of Whisper of the Heart, but a story that features the Baron as his own feline character, not just a statue. A teenage girl saves a cat from being hit by a truck and in turn, is invited to the Cat Kingdom in order to participate in a royal marriage that her friend, the Baron, must rescue her from. It is most charming, really, by the end of the film. I had always liked the idea of the Baron's cottage in it: it appears most cozy."
Or at least more soothing than a tropical island. Sonia found that she didn't much care for beaches and endless summers, now that she could only imagine simulated murder when smelling sea water. She raised her eyebrows in surprise at Yaguchi's suggestion: at the very least, it gave her a reason to take more time away from the shore and all of its sand, sun, and reminders of how they'd virtually murdered each other.
Tumblr media
"I do not have anything pressing," She replied, "The animals have been seen to until the evening hours. But I would not mind seeing it again, should the theater be in possession of the reel. It is, I believe, a more lighthearted adventure than a look at what our lives could have been had the world not fallen into despair."
A cast of cute, goofy, and otherwise amusing feline characters may have also helped with the decision. It was one of the films, she remembered, that Gundham had liked: no animals were harmed and a kingdom of cats had its appeal for them both.
Having a remarkably inexpressive face was to Shinobu's benefit in the moment where Sonia mentioned, gloomily, her father's tastes. For someone else, it would have been an awkward, if honest, mistake, but Shinobu knew better. As soon as Sonia said so, the conversation came flooding back - the conversation at lunch, the remarks upon seeing Shinobu's Biollante toy, some fragment of a plan to see another Godzilla film made in front of a date whose name Shinobu had long since forgotten the name of. Were they so incredibly stupid to not even remember anything about the experiences made with the only living friend they had left, even if she didn't?
She could hear Anzu behind her, clicking her tongue and chastising Shinobu on being so insensitive. The urge to murmur a regretful statement at having brought it up was bitten back. If they were truly strangers, there was no way that Shinobu could have known, and while she couldn't say for sure, she wouldn't want Sonia to mistake it for pity. There was little more loathsome, they thought, than being forced to set aside one's grief or sorrow in order to manage the awkwardness of one who had accidentally stumbled onto a sensitive topic.
Then again, perhaps Sonia wasn't in that sort of mood, anyway. Her run-down of Shinobu's previous beliefs was lacking in any sense of comfort - not that the archer especially minded. "Mm," she agreed. "I had things entirely backwards. My beliefs were paradoxical - both that I was the sort of person who was too broken for fixing, yet could be easily fixed by another without any real effort on my part." Adulthood, a positive relationship, and the context of the way the world was now made it all seem rather ridiculous. That that had been Shinobu's biggest problem was almost laughable, if they were the sort of person who easily laughed. And a husk? Something irreparably broken? When compared to someone like Junko Enoshima, whatever cracks were upon Shinobu's soul were barely noticeable.
Again, she bit into a rice cracker, careful not to make a mess upon her suit. "I take responsibility for that poor behavior, though I would contend that the presentation of love in those sorts of stories didn't help, if only by making things look easy." A lesbian should have known better, especially one of Shinobu's circumstances. It might have been enough for some people to find love and feel as though loneliness or being single were the only troubles in their lives, but to be a person forever consigned to society's fringes meant that love was, in essence, a comforting light in an otherwise often-dark place. Then again, how many times could one lose the person they loved before giving up? Was twice too little?
Shinobu gave a small shrug as the last of the previews finished up. "It's mostly academic at this point, anyway," she murmured, even as Anzu continued to make a horrible din in her ear. "I don't know if love is something I could easily attain anymore." Her trauma was difficult to deal with, she was sure, and anyone committed to loving her might need to contend with looking after her battered body. "Though, I'd hardly begrudge anyone it. I find it difficult to condemn anything that brings anyone comfort." As the film began to start, Shinobu gave Sonia one last look. "For you and your friends, Miss Nevermind, if that's something any of you desire, then I hope you find it. Truly." If anyone alive deserved a comforting light, it was all of them.
Tumblr media
I wanted so badly to do a good job, but there's so much that I don't know. I can never catch up. I can never be good enough. Ah, Shinobu thought to herself. So that's why she felt a connection to this film when she was younger, even if anime wasn't exactly something she took great interest in. "I think if I'd taken more lessons from the likes of Shizuku," Shinobu said, "I wouldn't have been such a rotten child." She'd never found it, had she? Her passion. Maybe it was archery, but never had they been allowed to find that out for themselves. Maybe, like Shizuku herself, it could have been writing. Shinobu loved books after all, but her self-esteem had been - and perhaps still was - too low to believe that anyone could find meaning in something she wrote.
"I don't know." Having eaten some of the snacks, but still leaving a good amount for Sonia if she changed her mind, Shinobu moved the small tray she'd brought to the side so that she could stand and stretch her legs. "I find her quite relatable. Though, I'll concede, the Baron's fashion sense is quite something to behold." She was trying to make a joke, but Shinobu Yaguchi was remarkably unfunny. Anzu always made sure she knew that her sense of humor was lousy. "I support any wearer of three-piece suits, polka dotted bow tie or not."
Though, Sonia's comment about a sequel was odd. "A sequel? I wasn't aware there was one." Once their legs were suitable stretched, Shinobu sat back down, facing Sonia but hoping not to crowd her. It was difficult, she thought, to want to be near someone, but not want to get too close at the same time. "Admittedly, I didn't watch too much anime as a child," she conceded. Her father largely disliked it, thinking it one contributor to the general softness he observed about the younger generation. "But I thought this studio seldom made sequels." Not that Shinobu really knew what she was talking about, but it had been her impression that too many anime series were hundreds upon hundreds of episodes, an undertaking that she had never had time for. The movies, poignant, succinct, complete experiences were certainly her preference.
It was something to watch, she supposed, and as she reflected upon it, a thoughtful expression grew upon Shinobu's face. "I'm not sure what the rest of your afternoon, or evening, looks like, Miss Nevermind, and I'd hardly want to keep you if there's something you need to do, or something you'd enjoy more." Ideally, there was work waiting for Shinobu, as well, but she imagined that stepping out of the movie theater would only be stepping into more nothingness - occasional busywork, with little to show for it. Even assisting the remnants felt unimportant, typically, as though she were being humored, like a child being given some unimportant task to pretend to help while the adults handled things.
"I'll be dropping by the kitchens before dinner to aid Hanamura-san with things, but beyond that, I have no real obligations today. I confess a certain curiosity about this sequel, if you'd care to watch it with me? I imagine they have it stocked." It seemed like the theater had most of the films from this studio, and if it were a sequel, it had to be rather old as well. It could be fun, she reasoned, to spend the day with Sonia, watching movies without great stakes, enjoying company, distracting themselves from what the world had become. "But, of course, only if you have the time and the inclination. I won't be offended, so please don't put yourself through anything you'd rather not, on my account." If she thought about it honestly, Shinobu wanted to know what it was that had Sonia so upset when she'd arrived, but perhaps it wasn't her place to push. Or, perhaps, when they parted, she could speak in vague language, simply leaving the door open for Sonia if ever she cared to speak to someone unimportant about her troubles.

Movie Review | Farewell, My Lovely (Richards, 1975)
Tumblr media
After getting to the 1978 version of The Big Sleep last night, I figured I should follow it up with more Mitchum Marlowe goodness and revisit this one. One immediate point in this one’s favour is that it’s set in the ‘40s instead of the ‘70s, and specifically that Robert Mitchum is walking around in tailoring from the respective decade. While he looks good in the sleeker cuts of that movie’s era, I think the broader silhouettes of ‘40s tailoring add a certain weight to his visual presence that nicely complements the sense of age and wear he brings to the character. So much of the movie’s effect is just from seeing Mitchum walk around in his hat and suit looking dapper as fuck but in a way that serves the role. And there is of course the wry sarcasm he brings to his delivery, which makes the sense of humour a touch more bitter.
This is an overtly nostalgic exercise in a way the other movie and plenty of other neo noirs from the era are not, and to a certain extent Dick Richards’ direction is content to let the production design and the slight sepia undertone of the cinematography do the talking. But it’s better than the other movie because Richards knows how to support his actors in a way that Michael Winner mostly doesn’t. This does feel at times like all your favourite ‘70s actors are playing ‘40s dress up (and it’s maybe a touch too star studded for its own good), but each of the performances pops in a way the ones in the other movie rarely do. In particular, seeing Mitchum go head to head with fellow Old Hollywood legend carries a certain electricity. Richards I understand had a reputation as an actors’ director, and from this movie it’s easy to see why.
And I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Charlotte Rampling, who is the movie’s secret weapon. I often find actors in more recent period pieces or throwback noirs to be distracting, but Rampling with her cheekbones looks like she stepped right out of the ‘40s, and can do the Bacall look and the husky voice without seeming affected. And there is of course her stare, which can penetrate your defenses while betraying nothing. Or to paraphrase Marlowe’s simultaneously crude and elegant turn of phrase, she throws you the kind of look you catch in your hip pocket.

Here is the playlist! I'm currently editing like 5 more of them to add but here's what's complete so far. You can listen to these first 2 in order or not, because they occur at the same time frame! (My personal favorite so far is Woody for Mayor, which is shorter)
Synopsis: this is a playlist of recordings of me and my friends dungeons and dragons fairytale game. We all play various fairytale characters in a small town, but something strange is happening.
https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLY83h8dAFFdd4uF3YvgR8vh5PgXdHKGe6&feature=shared
Players:
Gala Braeburn, a druid. Her story and character is Snow White.
Woody, a ranger. He is the woodsman from Little Red Riding Hood.
GEOrge, or Geo, a fairy fighter. He is a fairy from Peter Pan.
Neofytos, or Neo, is a gargoyle wizard raised by Merlin. Arthur is his brother.
Jack Goose, a rouge. He is from all of the Jack tales, raised by Mother Goose.
Sunny Briar, a bard. She is the Beauty from Beauty and the Beast. What happened to her is in the file I am currently editing.
@just-an-average-rock (tagging you so you see it)
I have drawn quite a lot of art for this story and I will upload it tagged under " escape the narrative "
I play Jack, and @dapper-nahrwhale is our game master! Feel free to ask any questions <3
