Backstory: Edward "Eddie" Delkins was born to a "happy" married couple named Millie and Jacob Delkins.  He had two siblings. An older brother named Terrance and a two-year younger sister named Elle. His parents always expected a lot from him but hey, he still loved them. He revealed he was trans when he was 6 but of course his parents didn't like that, but his siblings accepted him and helped him go through treatment. When the outbreak happened, he was in his room, reading until he heard his older brother yelling. When he went to check what was going on, he saw two zombies eating his mom. He   lets out a horrific scream as his brother practically threw him, his sister's bunny Fluffball, the family dog Rofee and his sister into the van and drove off. They soon find Pedro who raises them like his own children. In season 5, the Delkins siblings and their dad were reunited. Elle and Eddie had their suspicions and didn't trust him but Eddie pretended to so he could get the truth from him. Once Eddie and his dad were alone, Eddie's dad told him about his plan to wipe out the survivors and demanded him to join them, even guiltripping him but Eddie refused, causing his dad to go off the edge. He soon went  to the survivors and attacked them with the Fireflies. But the fight stopped when Eddie shot his dad. And the rest is history :D

I'm rambling about Daryl Dixon and romance ... what year is it?

I have had some serious time with my man Daryl, since I have actively watched TWD since 2012 (except for a small hiatus last year where I didn't finish the show bc I didn't want it to end lol but I recently did finish and its all I think about now)

I have always thought that Daryl was a queer character. If you know the character, you know what I mean by him having those signs of being queer ... constantly thinking of himself as an outsider ... being drawn to friendships with women ...

I thought that in canon, it made the most sense for him to be ace? Every person he's formed a strong bond with, it's been platonic, when plenty of other romantic couples on the show have formed from much less.

I also remember something about Norman thinking that Daryl just has zero game and would be very awkward about romance. 😆 Which I agree with.

This kind of thing has also lead me to think that he could have internalized homophobia, where he's never really acted on his feelings for the same sex.

I have also thought that maybe he was just physically abused so much as a child that he couldn't stand that idea of being touched.

Which are like both very sad reasons that he's never had romance.

With or without Daryl being queer being the case, Leah was such a mistake on the writers part. I don't know what they were thinking with that shit. Why would they give Daryl romance after all that time only for him to have to kill her for shock value? Like was he not traumatized enough? Have we not done enough to him? For him to be THAT vulnerable with someone and then that all happened with the reapers ... give me a damn break writer's room.

I never saw it as necessary for Daryl to have a romance on the main show. I can understand that people did want that, and pressed for that, (especially when it comes to Carol, since he is clearly the closest to her out of anyone ever).

Now that he has his own show, and we are delving even more deeply into him ... still exploring the world, but he is the ACTUAL main character with the damn show named after him, I could be more open to the idea. I understand the show likely isn't going to make him queer.

I have TOTALLY written rp threads and fics with Daryl in relationships (even sexual ones) that take place in the canon timeline. I have fantasized and daydreamed about him having a boyfriend. I think he's had a strong bond with Aaron. I just like the idea of him being with Jesus, (though I could make a list of their couple of canon interactions of WHY lmao - its fine).

I know from experience of r0leplaying in The Walking Dead fandom back in the day that people are protective and wild over their ships ... especially when it comes to Daryl ... not that I have too many followers now ... especially TWD peeps.

Beth and Connie are Daryl's biggest m/f ships other than him and Carol, and I ... guess I get it, but also Do Not.

I don't actively participate in shipping Daryl and Carol, I do understand why people do. If he and Carol do end up being endgame, I will probably root for it. Wanna make it clear, even though it ain't my OTP, whatever makes Daryl happy I am here for it. He really does deserve that happy ending.

Daryl's Happy Ending Is Finally Coming Closer

Both MMB and NR have a hard time keeping the secret in this interview specifically when the interviewer asks about what Carol's and then adds Daryl's happy ending would look like. Watch their expressions more than what they actually say. NR and MMB look at each other NR says, "Don't", "Don't." They both smile and giggle. They have a secret! Then, MMB talks about an endgame type reunion. She doesn't really answer the question. It is SO obvious that they are holding something BIG back. It is NOT romantic Carly. I remember MMB's first appearance discussing the spin-off. It was at last year's NYC Comic Con. She was on video. Literally, she used the word friend TWICE in the first sentence when describing why Carol goes after Daryl. AMC has done a repeated friendship campaign. Romantic Carly will never happen. MMB is fine with it because the spin-off is giving her FABULOUS material similar to what she had in Consumed. Also, don't forget, at least at this point, MMB is only signed on through season 3.

It's NOT Isabelle and Laurent for multiple reasons. If you read the synopsis for season 3,

"As for the third season, Carol and Daryl will continue their journey towards home and the ones they love. As they struggle to find their way back, the path takes them farther astray leading them through distant lands with ever-changing and unfamiliar conditions as they witness the various effects of the Walker apocalypse."

No one from the "French family" is mentioned. Last October at NYC Comic Con, it was made pretty clear that the French story is 12 episodes and that's it. They will be moving on. Based on the precedent from TOWL and Dead City, I highly doubt Laurent, Sylvie, and Isabelle all survive the season. Additionally, SG mentioned in an interview on the private red carpet at the Tribecca Film Festival that there is ALOT of death and destruction in Season 2. Finally, more than one filming spoiler indicates that Daryl and Carol end the season ALONE riding off together.

Going back to the synopsis of Season 3. Realize that the synopsis usually only covers the first couple of episodes at most. Here was the synopsis given for DD Season 2:

"They both confront old demons while she fights to find her friend and he struggles with his decision to stay in France causing tension at the Nest."

We now know that all that is addressed in episode one of DD 2.

So, going back to Season 3 synopsis, I find it interesting that they say their journey towards home AND the ones they love. Why not just say, "towards home"? Why not just say "towards home to the ones they love" without the AND. Maybe because season 3 is going to be about their journey towards one particular person they love AND trying to find a way back home. Because that would fulfill the theme of Daryl Dixson as stated at the end of the flagship and the beginning of the spin-off. Daryl Dixon is about DARYL'S happy ending (aka a family with Beth).

Andrea longs for a calmer world for the children being born after the Outbreak. One where the children don't always have to fear and fight for their lives. She wishes it was a realistic desire, but sadly, it's really not. With the dead walking and eating the living, they'll never be truly safe so it will never be a calmer world.

Beth longs for more musically inclined people to share her love of music with. She feels it's realistic enough if she teacher others to love music the way she does.

Carol longs for both of her children to still be alive and safe for the rest of their lives. It is not realistic at all because they are dead and the only way they could have come back to life would have been to reanimate as a walker. And she wouldn't allow that.

Charley longs for a chance to reach as many people as possible with their writing. They've always longed to be a famous author, and they had a good following before the Outbreak with the first two books in their young adult series. It's not realistic now because of there's no way to publish their third and fourth installments.

Daryl longs for a day when he stops losing people that he loves. And this will never be realistic because death is always the endgame. Whether it comes sooner rather than later is the only the gamble that everybody must take.

Rick's desire is to be able to protect all of his children and to never loose one of them. Or any of them. It's unrealistic because Carl's already dead.

Shane's desire is to have the life he never had before the Outbreak. A wife and kids had always been a desire of his. He wanted what Rick had. It's realistic because it could still happen for him. He just has to meet the right person.

Im going to try to lighten the mood and explain why i ship Caryl and what they mean to me.

I started to ship them in season 2 with Cherokee rose. I dont remember if this is a deleted scene or not, but when he brought her to the field to show her the flowers, the way he looked at her in this moment was clear as crystal. He was falling for her. Part of me is still convinced canon was supposed to happen in s2 or 3. But then i remember that she was supposed to be killed early (at least this is what i read a long time ago) so i dont know.. unless the plan was to have them canon and then her dead shortly after.

The bus scene, His reaction to her banishment, this f... reunion in No sanctuary, Consumed, them living naturally together in Alexandria at first (just like .... Richonne, may I say)... season 6.13 hug, 6.14 what did they do to you, season 7.10 emotional reunion... everything was screaming love. Love, love, love. IN love.

I never worried about Beth. She was freaking 17. I never worried about Toby although i still dont understand what was the point. I never actually worried about Morgan although some people did: it was just a "ennemies to besties" trope and relationship.

I did worry about Zeke and unfortunately i was right. I did worry about Connie and still do sometimes. Leah never made f..ing sense.

But i dont care about all that. Caryl is my OTP. There are other shows where i find myself able to multiship, but not in twd and certainly not with Caryl.

They dont function well without each other. They would do anything for each other. They would kill for each other (Richard??) Daryl lied for her ("everyone's all right"), they protect each other and are there for each other when needed, they are each other's priority, each other's person. He only had her safety and mental health in mind all season 10. He said he would destroy boats if she didnt stay. Yeah, he said "i shouldn't have asked you to stay!" later in find me but he was hurt (he even said something similar to Michonne in 10.03, basically he was hurt all season because he could not reach Carol).

Carol broke up with ezekiel and never looked back, despite what Zeke would want (i still hope this wont change in 11c). She litteraly broke down in tears thinking Daryl could hate her. She looked at him like he was the moon and the star in stradivarius during the camp eating scene. She was the first one in s2 to see through his bullshit and how big his heart actually was.

They might never be endgame, but they are canon in my heart.

This warmed my cold, dead heart, so thank you for taking the time to write it. I think you're right that it would have been very typical of the show to canonize them right before killing one of them off, and I'm glad we got to watch their relationship deepen and grow organically despite the obvious frustrations of a slow burn. Other "love interests" aside, Daryl and Carol have something special that I'd argue no other characters on the show or any other show have. They really are everything to each other. Hence, why it is so devastating to think of their bond going to waste, but let me stop there before it gets too angsty (another post for another day).

Again, we can continue to have "the conversations," but my inbox is always open for asks like this too. Just saying <3

If you had to remove one thing from official canon for your OTP, what would it be? Would their relationship be fundamentally the same or different without that thing in it?

for steve and bucky i would excise whatever the fuck the denouement of endgame was because shipping aside (and i didn't even ship steve/bucky when i watched That Goddamn Movie) they absolutely torpedoed steve's character development and everything he'd ever stood for (marvel i am under your bed). steve and bucky's relationship is such a fundamental part of who they both are and it would be nice to see them grow into each other again after so much time apart while figuring out how to fit together after everything they've been through.

re: beth and daryl i'm gonna be basic and say that beth shouldn't have died for shock value and whatever she had with daryl was fragile and innocent and would have sent a nice message about finding wonder and beauty in the world even under the worst of circumstances had it been allowed room to grow but what the hell do i know. gimple i am under YOUR bed.

Why NYCC Was Good News/Bad News for Beth and Daryl Fans

First, you will noticed that there was ZERO discussion about a love interest for Daryl or his happy ending which was supposed to be the premises for the entire spin-off.

So, the good news is that it appears that the story for the spin-off has been planned for a very long time.  So, the idea that TPTB “changed their mind” about Beth and Daryl as a couple doesn’t hold.  The bad news is that it may take quite some time to play out. 

The spin-off has been in the works for 8 YEARS.  That had been mentioned previously by Nicotera in an interview, but it was really expounded upon here.  Eight years ago was 2015, just after Coda. So, I believe the spin-off was always planned to be where Daryl and Beth reunite. It was ALSO always planned to be Daryl and Carol going off just like in Consumed.  I sort of think that the spin-off would have happened while the flagship was still running except that the actors playing Rick, Maggie, and Michonne all decided they wanted to leave.  For some time, Daryl and Carol were the only original TF members.  None of the later cast additions were as popular.  That is why they had to stall Daryl’s story and keep him on the flagship. 

I don’t believe Gimple’s plan has changed. He and the fellow writers planned this out long ago which is good news for TD. Bethyl is still the endgame.  The bad news is it can take a LONG time for that plan to come to fruition and no one seems in a rush.  Gimple doesn’t seem to be moved much by ratings either.  It’s almost like this is the story I am telling if you like it, great, if you don’t, don’t watch. Norman said he would play Daryl as long as the audience will let him, so he is no rush either.

Seeing how the story is playing out, IF we see Beth alive at all in Season 2, it will be towards the end. I will not be at ALL surprised if it doesn’t happen until Season 3. 3 is the number of resurrection after all.

When Norman talked about his and Melissa’s reactions when the idea of the spin-off being  set in France was pitched, he said, “Melissa and I were excited. We all were excited.”  Who else could have been in the “we”? Possibly Emily?

Norman talked about the French story being the “first 12 episodes” and(jokingly) maybe Costa Rica would be next.  That tells me that Season 3 will be somewhere else. Hopefully, leaving at  least Isabelle behind. I just don’t care for how manipulative the character is.  I don’t believe any female in TF would have tried to guilt Daryl the way she did over wanting to go home.  I’ll post more about that later. 

However, a fan did ask Norman what he would have chosen on the beach, the boat or Laurent. Norman said he would have picked up Laurent and took him back to America with him. I noticed Zabel, the showrunner, and Gimple looked down when Norman said that. They were uncomfortable with his answer.  It makes me think Laurent might be around for longer.

Writing Bethyl hurt/comfort post reunion is cathartic af.

I don’t know if this will ever be something I feel comfortable enough posting but right now it’s been so fun and rewarding writing everyday in this world I’m creating.

It’s very much based on the idea of Beth returning end of season 10 alongside Maggie. I’ve been rewatching season 5 and Grady arc is so heavily littered with imagery that I just can’t. Like Beth being in the CRM is entirely possible, like all the stuff that Dawn mentions about being rescued and shit? Anyway I’m just excited for season 11 anyway to see what they do with the commonwealth arc (hopefully they don’t fuck it up) and I just hope that it Beth ain’t returning we at least get a emotionally available Daryl Dixon reuniting with Connie and that being endgame and that the Daryl/Carol spin off doesn’t happen 👀 like just tie the show in a bow please and don’t run these characters into the ground xoxo

My mixed thoughts on Carol and Daryl/Caryl in s11 and the spin-off show.

 I think my thoughts are a bit unpopular or mixed.. Idk. I’m overthinking. I’m really am. LOL  It’s a long ranty post and with some spoilers and speculations! (I’m kinda a hate-watcher but I want or keep hoping for good writing. Oh I’m also more of an ensemble-show/TF fan too. So I'm like yeah u know twd/cheesey-ok-writing but I'm also taking it serious. I want good story telling/writing. Sigh, anyway.)

I feel like Carylers are all not the same page /different opinions on it. I feel weird and awkward about it. I mean it means people are gonna agree or (majority/petty) disagree with me or not like the idea of what the future will bring. So it means that there will be some fandomwank or debbie downers around. (Idk I’m thinking of the BeIIarke fandom.) It’s like oh well...but we’re all in the same team. Well it's always just gonna be up to me deciding if I like it/trust the writers. Eh it’s just right now it’s a waiting-game on what these shows or future will be like. 

Like recently Kang mentioned Caryl as “platonic friends” (im not sure what she means..like s1-10? but she mentions them as soulmates last year) and NR talking about the Caryl spin-off show that he wanted ages ago. I think all these lil hints on what the Caryl spin-off show will be like, I don’t think they’re gonna spoil it to us and it’s also this story-plot comes after s11. So it’s like they can’t really tell us all what it’s about really. So..idk be hopeful or whatever you wanna do till the show comes. 2023. Caryl on. Fics, pls.

And there’s still s11, the series’s last season that Kang have to work on. I guess I feel I don’t know Kang well yet or trust her. So I think Kang might put a love triangle plot and tropey soapy love story going on with Caryl. Like she might want to play into it. And she might want to tease the fandom with the “will they-won’t they”.  S10c-s11f is 30 episodes that is a lot story needed going on. Eh I don’t want a love triangle plot and I hope Kang does something interesting with Caryl in s11 and make them canon! (I also want Conni3 to be like a Sasha and not  a Beth. I want Conni3 to be her own character and bond with her sister, Kelly.)  So.. it’s gonna be a lot we go through before the spin-off show.

So what I mainly want from “TWD Universe” .. And hoping for is... that I think Gimple had always planned to have these TWD shows & movies be connected like “TWD Universe”. I want the (ship canon) Caryl spin-off show connected to the Rick's story in the movies in some way and Caryl(and others) be in the movie(s) too. The spin-off show could be Caryl looking for Rick (with Lydia and Grimes kids), looking for supporters (idk like FTWD?/Morgan), OR eventually later on they helped Rick before they go be part of the movie(s). Idk just something related to Rick grimes movies. Even though like most Carol fans don't like Rick or don’t want the show to be connected at all to the other shows (and no kids). :\ IMO!

Recently I watched s10 finale, it hit me that TWD show is ending next season, s11. Like, it’s the end of seeing Team Family and the Grimes/comic-based story. The s10 finale ep kinda also pointed on what I am feeling lately on TWD show and Caryl spin-off. I actually want to see how s11/TWD/Grimes show goes and ends first. I know Caryl are already TV leads, Maggie returns, comic things and drama are back for one more season, but me as a Caryler, I’m also fan of Carol and Daryl individually. (Well I'm more a Carol stan.) Anyway I'm trying to say that I want to see how Carol's or/and Daryl's story ends in the TWD show with TF. I want it to be good writing and story. Like seeing Carol and Lydia in s10f made me cry because it was so good, but what does it mean in s11 and so on? I'm gonna miss Caryl with TF and ASZ. I’m gonna miss some things of TWD too. Idk what the Caryl spin-off show will be like exactly. Will Lydia and others be there too or ..it's the end for them s11? It's sad to me.

 I want more Carol and Lydia to well.. be like mother and daughter or friends. I think of them as “Carol and mini-Carol.” Why should I be invested in them then if it all ends next season and Carol rides off? Idk I'm like, is it bad writing if Caryl spin-off show just be Caryl road-tripping? Idk what I'm saying. I want Carol's/Daryl's story to be good and in character, in end of s11 and spin-off show. Idk... It's like, writing-wise, is Carol always meant (or it’s in-character for her story?) to then look after Lydia and grow old with TF in ASZ..Or was Carol always meant to leave to go to New Mexico away from TF and on the spin-off show( or it’s just show business?) It's almost like there's two endgames that I want with Caryl in s11 and spin-off show. There's two endings on how Caryl's journey ends with TF AND how they will be like in s11 finale/spin-off. Like there’s Caryl and TF’s story ending and Caryl’s TWD show-arcs ending. And will it be in character and be an interesting story? Sigh idk it’s just a lot of hoping and trusting on these writers, and wondering if I still like the story. A lot of changes to get through. 

 Although, I recently read some comments about Carol and Lydia and thought about s11 and the spin-off show. If Lydia isn’t part of the spin-off show, I think I would be okay, story-wise, if Lydia is always meant to be a plot to end Carol’s (TWD show)arc on TWD show. In the finale, Lydia mentioned that they don’t have to be like a mother and daughter which Carol is probably already thinking of it and had this unlucky past with kids. Lydia said they could be friends. Then Carol told Lydia to find her own path, her own way in life. I think the writers are like wrapping or going over the whole Carol and kids arc since s4. Carol have this long traumatic past with kids. Carol wants to protect her/the kids and it’s like Carol realizes that she can’t always protect them, the kids also have to be their own and survive and it’s a rough life. It’s not all Carol’s fault in a way that if/when they die. If that make sense. So with Carol and Lydia since s9f, I feel they have this different adult-kid storyline than Carol with the other kids. I see it as a Carol and mini-Carol storyline. It’s probably all about Carol and all kids/Lydia storyline too. Later in the s10f, Lydia saved Carol, like Carol saved Lydia in s9f. They’re so like similar, mirrored. I’m really interested in them. I think I would be okay if the writers focus on them in s11, if it’s about Carol’s arc-with-kids ends. She learns to not to feel like a bad mother and letting go of this protecting-kids-thing but try her best to protect them and not blame herself. Learn to see how much she grown and love herself by being around Lydia. So yeah just overthinking on this and it would be nice if the writers go there next season because it’s seems like a in-character (TWD show) arc to end for Carol. (I don’t care about Negan and I don’t want the kids with Negan. :\ I also don’t want Daryl to be friends with Negan. maybe just tolerate him.)

Another thing .. Is idk how the Caryl spin-off show will go for Carol and Daryl. At first I'm like whatever they have fun on their road trip but thinking on it and with TWD, I'm like I don't want the spin-off be like a ‘Mcreedus on the road in their costumes show’. Like that's not what the Caryl spin-off show is right? So like I'm overthinking on it I know I am but really .. Now I’m wondering how this spin-off show really goes with Carol and Daryl and still being in-character. I feel there's gonna be some main motivation or arc in spin-off show. The core storyline and character's core storyline. Idk what it is for Caryl/Carol and Daryl. I think of other shows like this and there are reasons to it. Like all of this, it's really a whole new show and it gotta start with all these usual basics in the show. I think of other shows that might be similar to the spin-off show. Right now I'm thinking Avatar:TLA and Telltale games’ (comic) Michonne or TWD game s3: New Frontier (Clementine and Javier). Lol, yeah random. These are I think traveling stories and the main characters have a motivation or whatever. And it’s a hero’s journey/redemption, finding her lil bro(AJ), or with Michonne it was going through stages of grief in six (?) episodes. So my point is I don't want the spin-off show be pointless and OOC and just Mcreedus riding around with no plot. Ok, it’s still a story about Carol and Daryl. Idk what the show’s arc will be about. Maybe it’s them helping people, them finding peace and learn to love themselves. Maybe to find Rick. Idk. I want Carol and Daryl story be good and ended good. And related to Rick's story....I kinda don't mind if Caryl bring the Grimes kids (and Lydia) along. As long as the story is good to me. So, I just wanna point out that it’s still Carol’s and Daryl’s story going on. 

Another thing with Caryl’s relationship, I'm thinking on what makes sense to me on Caryl's relationship is that if the Caryl spin-off show will be them as already a couple. Then I think Caryl should be canon in 10c or s11 finale or earlier. I think to have a spin-off be separated from main TWD, it will go smoothly to me if they are already a couple in the spin-off show. If they don't then I feel the writers lost their chance and/or baiting shippers. I don't feel like waiting for them to be canon in spin-off show, because it's like previous TWD seasons. I find it tiring and boring and it’s the same as before. If they're confirmed as just friends then I feel that the characters' story is wasted or shorten/OOC. They deserved more in their life. It’s not good writing or story to me. And if one finds a bf or gf like... who wants to see that and I guess we assume it won't last that long because Caryl are the mains. It would be OOC to me and not interesting. Anyway, I hope Caryl are a canon couple in the spin-off show by then. Oh I also think the show would be at least 2 seasons. But you know show business u never know.
