Can I just say that I adore the fact that Buddy literally looks towards the reader when he says “I HAVE TO WRITE IT DOWN. YOU CAN'T TRUST THE DRAWINGS. READ CAREFULLY?”

It's like he's saying:

“I'm literally looking atcha from inside a DRAWING where I'm writing my story ON THE WALLS… Y'think something mayyyyy be a tiny bit WRONG, here…?”

The full, original quote is:

“You've got to read carefully. Words have never really been my thing. But I gotta use them, 'cause you can't trust drawings.

You can't TRUST the drawings.” ~ Daniel “Buddy” Lewek, Dreams Come to Life, Pg. 1-2

This isn't even the only time he says something similar about having no choice but to write his story rather than draw it. On the very next page, we see him explicitly describe a comic panel he might draw and then repeat himself:

And that ain't the only time he mentions the importance of needing to describe all five senses for us. He does it quite a few times, including:

Why don't I see anyone talk about the fact that Buddy basically outright says many times, “if you ever find an illustrated version of my story, it was made explicitly against my wishes with intent to deceive you. Pay very, very, very close attention to exactly what in this written version it contradicts & how it contradicts it, 'cause it's important?”

I don't like the dctl graphic novel designs.

So I decided I rather draw my own ones

Behold, Buddy!

Look I kno I'm a bit late to this- but Ill just state my opinion. Buddy's design is alright. It's not ban, just not what I expected. And in some panels he looks much younger or shorter than he is described.. tho wished the design was close to what the fandom had interpreted.

I'm not bashing on the artist , I like his style and work that he had the chance to put effort into- but the art style doesn't fit batim's theme...the piss yellow - I get why they chose it, but I feel like doing it in grey scale or like those old comics with washed out color's here and there-anything but piss yellow plz.

Anywho - I'll probably draw and rant about other designs. Don't get me started on SAMMY -

Also me: How about an au centered around Bendy: Dreams Come To Life where Buddy somehow befriends the Ink Demon?

•They meet in the boarded off medical room like in the book. But instead of keeping his back towards the Ink Demon, he cautiously turns around and faces him.

•At this point the Ink Demon isn't hostile, but rather curious. Buddy takes a bit to realize this and his fear becomes something of awe as he tries to communicate with the inky being.

•Eventually the moment ends the same way in the book with the Ink Demon bolting out of the room as soon as he realizes he's free.

•Buddy, having noticed the malnourished state the Ink Demon is in, begins bringing food extra food from home to share with him, thus gives the Ink Demon the idea to leave little "gifts" behind much like a cat would whether that be trinkets lying around the studio or a dead mouse or two.

•Of course Joey ruins it all once he discovers what has been going on, causing the Ink Demon to lash out more and become more corrupted.

•When Buddy becomes Boris and eventually loses his memories, he crosses paths with the Ink Demon again with him acting more curious than hostile like before as he senses something different about this Boris.

•The Ink Demon then becomes more passive around Boris, even going as far as to protect him from danger every now and then.

Random question but do you have any headcannons for buddy or dot from dreams come to life?

i haven't read the book in about a year so i dont have many, but i'd like to think that if there was a good ending, Buddy, Dot, Richie (?), and Jacob would all be friends and Buddy would get a dog and name it Boris and they would be the 1940s Scooby Doo solving mysteries about anything but the Ink Machine and they would all live a long happy life :)

I do! But only some.

SO THE DCTL GRAPHIC NOVEL PREVIEW….ITS. SOMETHING. i have some minor problems with Buddy's design but he's serviceable, and very cute! They did Miss Miller dirty. I'm not going to say anything about Norman at this time. But i have Opinions. my biggest gripe is that these designs don't even properly line up with how the characters are described in book. but ALAS.

i wanted to draw GN Buddy with my Buddy…just two little guys who look nothing alike.

Today i want to share these for my "permanently" hyperfixation about bendy books😭😭 in particular for dreams come to life

I also made a unusual headcanon that i made of buddy and joey

In my au or version of my bendy joey heard that buddy's father is dead, it reminded to him Henry's Abandonment, so joey decided to treat buddy as a son for not maklke him lonely, joey also see buddy like a son that he had with henry, This leads him to talk more with buddy and spend more time with him

please don't judge me for this headcanon bc i know that is banal 😢

my joey is also a lot different from the canon joey, my joey is just a depressed man and is such a sweetheart
