As soon as Aurelia had seen her son, she knew she needed to see her family together again... And it was a great opportunity to get more information about what she had missed out on with both of her sons. The fae cared little for if people knew that Sammy wasn’t biologically hers, she had taken him under her wing from a young age and raised him the best she could until she was taken. He was hers as much as Jasper was. It had taken slightly longer than she had liked to find out who this Kia was that Jasper had mentioned when they had seen each other again, but as soon as she did dinner invites went out to the three of them, inviting them to Swynhall Manor. 

She waited until they were all situated in the lobby to make her entrance, smiling at her two boys and to Malakiah also, “Thank you all for coming, I know you must have other things to be doing.” Aurelia moved to hug her boys, and offer her hand to Kia before moving back to the table to grab the wine that had already been poured for her. It was then she looked to one of the other fae who tended to the manor, “What would everyone like to drink?” She asked, trying to hide the fact that she needed to steady herself with one hand on the table - not everything was back to normal, she had some residual injuries that would always give her bother. “Let’s sit.”

Deep Trouble Episode 6 : The Hon. Kelvin Thomson In conversation with the Hon. Kelvin Thomson, ex-federal politician and Shadow Attorney General for the Rudd Labour government, we discuss immigration, population growth, the Rudd-Gilliard-Rudd years, and Australia’s addiction to gambling. Kelvin’s views on immigration address the common misconception that the Howard government was anti-immigration, when in fact the immigration intake increased significantly after the Tampa incident in 2004. On population, Kelvin contends that world population growth in the last century – from 2 billion to 7 billion – will eventually lead to a rapid decline in quality of life. Kelvin contends the need to stabilise the Australian population by limiting skilled migration whilst increasing humanitarian refugee intake. On the Rudd-Gilliard-Rudd years, Kelvin talks through his overall disappointment in the process of governing after such a long time in Opposition. He is, nevertheless, proud of the Labour government’s stewardship of the country through the global financial crisis. We discussed the internal leaking and undermining which affected the Gilliard government and which resulted in a hung parliament and crippled the government politically. This resulted in Gillard having to make a deal with the independent MP Andrew Wilkie, who was advocating for the introduction of mandatory pre-commitment on pokies. Due to aggressive campaigning by the NSW gambling industry, however, the reforms collapsed, resulting in the installation of Peter Slipper as Speaker of the House of Representatives. Fire. Blood. Screaming. 

She could have been hurting. Burning. Broken. Crushed. Dying. She could be dying. 

The words coming out of Mal’s mouth didn’t line up with the imagines that bounced around inside of Sammy’s head. He tried to shake them off. Tried to re-ground himself in the here and now but he his mind wondered back. Of course, Sammy had gone to see the sight of the explosion. All the damage that it caused. Discarded limbs. Blood trails. The smell of burnt hair and flesh still hanging on the air. None of it bothered him till the idea that it could be Jessie’s entered into his brain. 

When Mal come reached out to take his weapon, Sammy finally came back. She was okay. That wasn’t her. Mal was right. Neither of them would be here if she had been hurt. She was okay. She had to be. Jessie was stronger than some little boom. 

“Yeah, right.” Sammy nodded, swallowed, and sat back down in his stool. He grabbed the two shots that had been refilled for both of them and took one right after the other. “Fuckin’ nearly gave myself a heart attack.” He admitted pushing his hand into his chest and letting his head fall back a bit. Breathing out, Sammy let his attention fall back on Mal.

 “Good point,” Sammy cooed happy to change the subject. Goddamn caring sucked so much ass. “Where to start then, hum?” He tapped his chin. “I’m a Scorpio. I’m nearly six-hundred years old. Got fae blood but no wings. How’s that for a fun fact? Oh! Oh, I’ve known Jessie longer than she’s known Jack. Have a loopy little half-brother. What else?” Sammy hissed to himself. ‘I kill people for money. Like a bad tooth-fairy. Only I knock out the teeth and take the money.” 

“you and your wallet if you keep drinking the shots that are supposed to be mine.” mal pointed out as sammy once again drank a shot intended for him, though he was only teasing he certainly would like the alcohol that he had originally paid for. the young vampire was happy when the other calmed down, and attention turned back to the conversation they had been having. 

“scorpio, huh? i’m a virgo. i’m pretty sure that means we’re pretty compatible.” he teases, listening as sammy pretty much introduces himself to malcolm -- because they had never much interacted before. “no wings? gotta be painful. almost like me having vampire speed but one prosthetic leg so i can’t use the speed as much as i’d like.” mal chuckled, before raising his brow at the fact that dear sammy had known jessie longer than jack had. that he wasn’t expecting. “killing people for money in a town like this must bring in a lot of money.” everybody wanted someone dead here. 

“you haven’t asked for it, but i’m gonna give you my introduction. i’m a virgo, i’ve only been a vampire for 11 years and as you know, dear jessie turned me. at the time it was against my will, and i’m sure i made that known at the beginning but i wouldn’t change jessie and jack for the world. before that i lived at the hideout, had a life, competed for commander for most of my life with the love of my life, before i got too cocky and jessie got me. let the humans think i was dead for ten years until that whole thing with the hotel elysium. then i got back into the relationship with the human commander, lost my leg in the SRS collapse, and then turned him when he was dying and here we are.” yeah, things had gotten complicated towards the end there and many still didn’t like him much for it. jakoris was still struggling, and that certainly hurt him still but it was what it was.

Perhaps now he was finished with the adjustments on his personal teleporter? This device was always so finicky, he notes, and even though he’s been working out issues little by little, two problems seem to crop up for each singular problem solved.

But finally, he thinks he’s solved all the issues, and with just a hint of (he thinks) well-deserved smugness, he activates it. The device, attached to the belt on his hip, begins to hum. Everything so far is within expected parameters ...

Wait a minute. Why is it beeping? Why is the power surging again? He can’t turn it off!

ZZAP!

YIPE!

It takes him a minute, from where he’s landed, to sit himself up. He is sitting on a beach, somewhere, absolutely covered in sand. Great. The yordle gives a sigh and begins to dust off his coat. It’s all over! This is the worst. He’ll probably be shaking sand out of his fur for days.

“Aahh, this always happens!” He huffs, to himself mainly, kicking a little at the sand in frustration. “I will have this device working, sooner or later. Now, ah ... I need to figure out where I’ve ended up.”

An early Happy Birthday to @deeptrouble cus I didn't know whether we'd be able to meet up in time. Two customized Typo notebooks for ~extreme study time~ Just wanted to show the first one which was drawn in the style of Night In the Woods. We love the main character, Mae, so I drew us both as cats eating our favorite foods. The grammar is a lil wonky or 'childish' cus that's how we roll. oh, plenty my love. the daltons are as pretty as ever, despite the redhead being grumpy. the vampire teddy seems rather handsome, i'm interested to see where that goes; to see if he becomes a regular of coveted. and of course, my beloved best friend miles yet sadly, he is spoken for. i've not had a chance to really dip my toe in the waters of anyone else, but this place is full of attractive people, i'm sure.
