Making these pictures I thought Grey could easily have a game which could be a mix between Hitman and Uncharted.
Shoutout to KevinRudd from Nexus for making the Time of day change mod, so I was able to make these nice pictures of Grey on Ambrose during sunset.

‘Scomo’s Got Snapchat’ and other terrifying tales from the digital age of politics
Disclaimer: I have never followed or cared about politics but I guess now is a good time to start. To me, politics is as useless as screen doors on a submarine but I’ll try to make what I think is a boring topic as fun as possible for you!
Remember the days where you could peacefully scroll through your feeds greeted by your friends and memes? Remember when you could ignore politics by turning off the TV or walking super fast past the Greens handing out pamphlets at the station? (yes it’s another homemade meme, you’re welcome)

Well those days are over, kiddos. The politicians have invaded social media and they’re here to stay. So let’s take a look at what they’re doing and how it affects our political engagement. I’ll be drawing most of my information from Peter John Chen’s book Australian Politics in a Digital Age and social media itself.
Pressure from advocacy group Get Up! was a catalyst in the migration of politics to the digital world. In 2006, their concern that young voters were “disenfranchised” by the government led to the establishment of the Australian Electoral Commission’s website for voters to enrol online. The following year, Kevin Rudd used online resources to his advantage in his electoral campaign “Kevin ‘07″. By using a “slick” website, video promotions and social media, Rudd appeared professional and new. The use of social media, such as the then ‘hip’ MySpace and Facebook, allowed them to directly target their desired audience. His Facebook page is still used today to promote his work in the wider community and features links to him in the news.

Peter John Chen writes that “an increasingly mediated politics thus requires individuals who have ‘media literacies’”. Australia has over 16 million social media users and politicians need to understand these platforms to connect with us. Misuse of platforms can create a perception that a member of parliament is disconnected and out of touch with today’s society. What politicians like, share and post on social media contribute to our overall view of them. Take Liberal senator Jim Molan for example. He describes himself as a supporter of “major Islamic, Muslim countries in this world” but shared an anti-Muslim video from hate group Britain First on his Facebook and faced loads of backlash, including Labor’s Penny Wong tweeting that the promotion of "bigotry and divisiveness has no place in our society and it certainly has no place in our parliament." It’s pretty disappointing that a man like that has power in our country.
And now my favourite part... memes. The fact that our politicians are on social media has led them become a part of pop culture. Scott Morrison’s joining of Snapchat has given us even more content to exploit for the internet’s entertainment. This video from instagram (one of my faves) speaks volumes about how young people think Scomo is ridiculous...

There are so many other important things to talk about regarding Australian politics in a digital world like #auspol on Twitter and the Legend of Eggboy; the hero we didn’t know we needed. But alas, all tumblr posts must come to an end. I’ll be back with more next week, but until then, I’ll leave you with these gems from ALP Spicy Meme Stash on Facebook.

Deep Trouble Episode 6 : The Hon. Kelvin Thomson In conversation with the Hon. Kelvin Thomson, ex-federal politician and Shadow Attorney General for the Rudd Labour government, we discuss immigration, population growth, the Rudd-Gilliard-Rudd years, and Australia’s addiction to gambling. Kelvin’s views on immigration address the common misconception that the Howard government was anti-immigration, when in fact the immigration intake increased significantly after the Tampa incident in 2004. On population, Kelvin contends that world population growth in the last century – from 2 billion to 7 billion – will eventually lead to a rapid decline in quality of life. Kelvin contends the need to stabilise the Australian population by limiting skilled migration whilst increasing humanitarian refugee intake. On the Rudd-Gilliard-Rudd years, Kelvin talks through his overall disappointment in the process of governing after such a long time in Opposition. He is, nevertheless, proud of the Labour government’s stewardship of the country through the global financial crisis. We discussed the internal leaking and undermining which affected the Gilliard government and which resulted in a hung parliament and crippled the government politically. This resulted in Gillard having to make a deal with the independent MP Andrew Wilkie, who was advocating for the introduction of mandatory pre-commitment on pokies. Due to aggressive campaigning by the NSW gambling industry, however, the reforms collapsed, resulting in the installation of Peter Slipper as Speaker of the House of Representatives. This leads into a discussion about Kelvin’s work with the Alliance for Gambling Reform, and his view that the gambling industry and state and federal governments all focus on the ‘personal responsibility’ of the gambler in a concerted public relations campaign aimed to place responsibility on people with a gambling disorder, whilst taking focus away from the industry’s highly addictive products. #auspol #politics #gambling #reform #population #immigration #refugees #Australia #KevinRudd #JuliaGillard #JohnHoward #humanitarian #deeptrouble #podcast @itunes @spotify https://www.instagram.com/p/Bpsqc75FSvw/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1h5kgqz0zyr9f

Digital Citizenship and Political Engagement
The easiest citizenship to gain- if only every citizenship was that easy?!
So, welcome to the digital stratosphere...you’re apart of something big but special now. Now what? How do you engage and connect with your community around you? Do you feel you belong in the digital community you’re in...or perhaps not in? Are you even aware you’re in a digital community? Well regardless of whether or not you’re aware of HOW you fit into your community the fact remains that you have the opportunity to have a voice as a global digital citizen.
This opportunity has been taken up by plenty of people, groups and communities by now on a digital front to prove just how important and powerful a political stance in a digital world can be.
One of the first proofs in which I personally remember experiencing political engagement was Kevin 07, which was the Australian Prime Minister campaign tag-line for Kevin Rudd in 2007. It was during the 2000′s that political material became available (Young, 2010). This is not to say that there was quite as much involvement from a younger generation as we see today but this still talks to politicians attempts. It is not until the past few years that said involvement has truly developed (Young, 2010), it is the 2016 US President’s Campaign that we truly saw what a social, and digital involved campaign could look like.
What a difference a some nice comparisons we can draw between these two campaigns- regarding whether your digital community is rounded, inclusive and present. 2009 is when many Australian politicians are said to have joined twitter (Enli, G 2017) which probably speaks volumes to how successful Rudd’s campaign involvement was compared to Trump v Clinton.

Office dynamics are the soul to any work environment. We’ve all worked in a place that was unhealthy for our mental wellbeing. It’s stressful and draining and you don’t want to go into work because you know it’s going to make you feel terrible. Can you imagine the stress on our politicians. Despite what we see in the media they are still human, they have families and loved ones who know who they really are. They don’t get the choice to have a wellbeing program to sort through the abuse and hatred that they deal with daily. Or a program where everyone is taught how to treat each other, because those people are us, the Australian public. But you have a choice whether it be in the workplace or towards our Polly’s. You have a choice to treat someone good or treat them bad. Emotional wellbeing is just as important as eating healthy, exercising and resting our mind and body. But it’s quickly overlooked in the workforce because people don’t speak out or support others when a bully is at play. Learning to know your colleagues and understand why they are who they are can play a major role in building a strong and cohesive team. It can help build passion and trust and create a powerful building block within any company. . . . #shaewellness #shaewellness30 #corporatewellness #wellness #businss #kevinrudd #buildingastrongteam #teamwork #emotionalwellness #emotionalwellbeing https://www.instagram.com/p/B05zH-FHHY0/?igshid=1fduhzd8gr17r

A Conversation with Thérèse Rein. Okay, so here I am in Queensland State Library auditorium with a VIP. One of Australia's most successful business leaders, Game Changer, wife of Australia's ex-Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd; and Esther blackmails me as Thérèse Rein and I stand under the most unflattering of spotlights. Jacki Ferro, my editor, would cring at that last long sentence. No worries. Thérèse, I've discovered, despite her notoriety and fame, is a Down-to-Earth Australian. As for Esther, well thanks for taking the photo girlfriend, my selfies suck. Thank you Thérèse for taking the time to talk to me. I appreciate it. Politics Not as Usual
The Oxford English Dictionary (n.d.) states that civil society is a noun and defined it as ‘society considered as a community of citizens linked by common interests and collective activity’. The pillars of civil society are said to be reason, fairness, justice and freedom of expression which should promote respect that people have for each other and harmonious relationships between the citizens of a diverse society (Burns 2014). One of the main points examined this week was that the internet afforded everyone those aspects, but particularly the freedom of expression of persons political views, valued as a democratic entitlement.
Exploring what it means to be a ‘digital citizen’ in a global environment such as the internet made me wonder if I am taking a responsible enough position and keeping my countries politicians in check. Very few of us realise that the politicians are called public servants for a reason. They act on our behalf; therefore, they serve us. We need to hold them accountable for their promises as well as actions and with the internet we have greater opportunity to do just that.
Political parties and individual politicians are using websites and various social media platforms to connect with the voters, but are they connecting on what is really important or just spurting campaigning propaganda. I know that when I read the question posed by team B, if I was a social media follower of any political party or politician, the answer was, no. I thought about my actions and found that I was guilty of mostly ignoring the political parties and their activities assuming that I had very little power to influence their behaviour. As was noted on the discussion board by a couple of people it is a personal choice if you wished to be involved in political issues and I was finding that I fell short.
I would therefore, question if the social media campaign Kevin Rudd ran was more oriented towards popularity and destroying the opposition than about his policies. The YouTube segmented focused on the social media campaign rather than on the policies. In fact, the small story by-line was that there was a slight hitch in the governments PNG solution to refugees, which we now realise was a huge mistake in policy for the then government and an incredible humanitarian disaster. Would things have been different if we held the government accountable, examined the policy and contributed to the conversation on that policy and possibly alternatives, one can only wonder.
In her video Jodi Dean (2013) talks specifically about this aspect of social media and politics and discuss that when we focus on the platforms specificity we lose the power that that medium has to affect real change. I know that both Greg Jericho (2012) and Sally Young (2010) from our reading list discussed in depth the aptitude of the politicians to use the internet in general and social media in particular but even they both focused on the platforms, powerplays of various contributors and the economic sustainability of these, but absolutely no one focused on what the voter could or perhaps should do as a ‘digital citizen’ to affect real change in Australian politics leading to a more tolerant and democratic Australia, I think it is time we did.
