Tried my hand at a little soul sona because it's a pretty funny concept! Also incorporated some vessel stuff for the funsies

some explanations and ramblings:

colored vessel or greyscale vessel: I hc that the vessels would've gained colors / we could've chosen their colors had we had the opportunity to control them

the soul is meant to represent the GOD OF HYPERDEATH's true form because- because it makes sense to me (look some theories attributed Asriel as the angel in UT so I rolled with it)

but ALSO the angel is both implied to be Noelle and maybe the player (see the weird mural about the angel that we can't see but we can see our reflection in the dark screen)

but ALSO also the soul being referred as "the demon soul" in Raise up your bat??? Anyway, lots of thoughts

BASICALLY Kris is "the ship" here, our vessel, AND WE, the player, are "captaining" them. And breaking/sinking the ship in the process (like can be seen in line 4, for example) So the "ship", Kris, is trying to make a deal with the captain

Deltarune Chapter 5 Prediction: Transfem Ralsei, as a concept/theory/headcanon, will either be gently deconfirmed in some way or be leaned into with new interactions that support the theory - all depending on whether or not Toby Fox planned for Ralsei to have a gender journey as part of his story of accepting his own personhood and emotional needs.

(To clarify: I'm using he/him for Ralsei in this post because those are the pronouns he currently uses in-game. If this does change later, I will switch to using the new ones immediately.)

Toby does seem to be aware of, and willing to acknowledge, popular theories, such as referencing popular fan-made CH3 crystal boss/Mike concepts with the Mikes. I doubt Toby would alter the trajectory of a major character's story to please the fans, though, so if it wasn't planned, it likely won't be made canon.

If Transfem Ralsei was never planned, I expect that Toby will include a bit of dialogue that acknowledges the headcanon in an in-universe way, but deconfirm it. This could take the form of having someone (non-maliciously) mistake Ralsei for a girl, but have him say that he isn't (with no doubt, implication that he isn't sure, or mentions that the prophecy specifically names a prince.)

Alternatively, if Ralsei was intended from the start to be written as a transfem character who isn't out yet and/or feels pressured to stay as his AGAB due to the prophecy specifically naming a prince, Toby likely already planned to include interactions and such that will strengthen the theory in Chapter 5 - likely being more obvious or stronger than the existing things that fans have used to support the headcanon.

Also of note: In the prophecy, Kris is referred to as a "cage with human soul and parts", dehumanizing them, and it only refers to Susie as "the girl" and focuses on her heart and love, seemingly reducing her to her gender and pushing her into a stereotypically feminine role/story trajectory. Both of these aren't exactly charitable or pleasant for them, as excited as Susie is about the surface-level reading of the "the girl" prophecies. What if Ralsei's description as a lonely prince is the same way? He clearly doesn't want to stay lonely, at least, but what if he doesn't want to be a prince either?

As for what I think of the headcanon itself: It's cute, I like it, and I think it'd be cool if it were canon. It would tie into his arc of accepting his individuality, personhood, and emotional needs, and of rebelling against fate, really well.

However, I wouldn't mind or like Ralsei any less, and his character arc won't be any weaker, if he is cis. Boys that like, do, or wear "feminine" things are valid and important to represent too, and Ralsei being that would complement Susie's tomboyish presentation well. I'll keep loving this precious goat regardless of what gender he starts and ends the story as.

Headcanon that the reason Gaster talks in all caps is because he has a very similar keyboard bug to me where sometimes certains keys just dont respond unless I capitalise them so I just say whole sentences in capitals instead

Kris hc i came up with randomly a few days ago:

yk how sometimes neurodivergent kids will impulsively walk on their toes/balls of their feet? well- i like the idea of Kirs doing that shit, not for any neurodivergency reasons, but rather cause they noticed their family members walk like that and started mimicking them. the main issue with this (and why there's corrective precautions for this) is that by doing this for too long it can result in the shortening of the tendons in the back of the ankle and strain on the arch of the foot, making it difficult if not impossible to lay one's feet flat without going through some sorts of physical therapy for it- human feet really aren't designed to walk like that

because this is such a niche behavior i really doubt the human child care book Toriel was using had much of anything on this, so she likely wouldn't know Kris isn't suppose to be doing this shit and would probably let it slide, resulting in a teen Kris who is now incapable of putting their heels on the ground when standing

idk if I've posted this before, but an UT/DR headcanon I have and don't see in others often is that humans in those worlds are not the same as the humans from ours. They're definitely more similar to us than the monsters are, but they're not the same "species" as what we'd consider to be a normal human in our world.

For starters, they can have bright yellow skin. That is straight-up canon. While we've never actually seen two humans interact in canon unless you want to count the end of genocide (which I won't because I interpret it as Chara talking to YOU, not Frisk), the fact that we now have two separate individuals with this skin tone does sort of imply it's normal. It's not a colour it's possible for a human to naturally be in our world; even when one has jaundice, it's not bright-ass Lego minifigure yellow. These kids are the colour of poison dart frogs. They're the colour of a hazard strip. That's not normal.

Given both this hint that these humans are different and the fact that all 3 humans seen in canon are universally addressed by they/them pronouns and are completely androgynous, I have a headcanon/theroy:

Humans in these worlds have no male/female sexes, no concept of gender, and no differing sexually dimorphic traits.

I do not think these humans have men and women. I think all humans are born as genderless, completely androgynous beings, and have no concept of gender within their societies. I have no idea how they'd reproduce, but I imagine them as having either no genitalia, or all having the same "set," and what it looks/functions like I have no clue. Honestly, I'm kind of leaning towards mitosis.

I like this idea for the following reasons:

Mettaton EX being so androgynous despite his identifying as a binary male would be a thing he lifted from humans, being such a fan of them and all. The thing with the four, five and six fingered gloves heavily implies he wanted his body to appear as human as possible, and I suppose that could mean combining what we would consider to be masculine and feminine traits into one metal genderbeast.

It adds a touch of "gremlinous creature" vibes to all 3 human characters; "inhuman" anatomy despite being explicitly, plot-importantly human.

The confusion about reproduction and just how tf not having gender or bio sex would work I and you are feeling right now is EXACTLY how monsters, the main in-universe demographic of both games, would feel.

Feels kind of Homestuck troll-ey, which is always a plus in any Toby Fox project because it solicits groans.

Things I percieve as flaws in this headcanon:

Kind of discredits the non-binary identities of the human characters, especially Kris, whose themes of identity, control over one's body and teenage angst are strongly complimented by a trans identity. If these characters were born non-binary, though, they wouldn't be trans for continuing to identify as such, for the same reason Mettaton and Mad Mew Mew are trans for being born genderless yet having a binary identity.

While opening narrative doors, also closes them... this is again very Kris-centric because they're older, but I've just seen so many portrayals of Kris as a non-binary kid stuck in a perisex body going through puberty that are really interesting and compliment their angst. Binders, facial hair, periods, voice changes... can't do anything with that anymore if these humans don't go through puberty as we know it, and that makes them less relatable.

It just feels bad to hc away canon trans rep like this, yk? UT/DR certainly wouldn't be hurting for it without human trans characters, but they're canonically trans, non-binary playable characters in a mainstream game. That is INSANELY rare. I cannot think of a single other example. Trans mcs are rare enough in mainstream media as a whole, let alone non-binary ones. To strip these characters of that to non-binarify their entire species feels a little... tradeoff-ey.
