If Mako ever gets a love interest again, I hope it's someone whom he gets to be goofy and dumb with. Someone he feels comfortable enough with to be the stupid nerd he is. Like with Korra in B2 when he was showing off his cheesy cop one liners. Probably one of my favourite scenes in the book even though most Makorra scenes make me wanna curl up into an upset little ball.

It feels like Mako has this constant need to be the serious protector (I mean, understandable with his childhood and all). I don't think he'll ever let that fully down with Bolin and probably not with Korra or Asami. Not after the spectacular love triangle mess.

I don't know if there is a character I could ship him with for that dynamic. Maybe Wu, cause Wu is definitely also goofy, but I feel like Mako's position if being his bodyguard might make that difficult. I've recently been leaning towards shipping him with Opal of all people (even though I headcanon her as Aspec, but to what degree I'm not sure, and, hey, I already ship Weilin) I feel like she might bring out that side in him but who knows really.

You have no idea how the concept of elves and dwarves not conforming to human gender roles helped me come to terms with my own gender struggles. You have no idea. That was such an important part of my life and i feel like a show that touts itself as so progressive (even though the diversity theyve put in the show feels so hollow and preformative) would jump at the opportunity. But nooooo, boy elf = boy human, girl dwarf = girl human but short, I guess.

The fact that Amazon is claiming to be all progressive with their Rings of Power series yet all the male elves have short hair and all the female elves have long flowing locks.

The rings of power really went: we need to tie the story of arguably one of the most powerful women in the lore to two men and devalue her into an underdog, because we cannot conceive a woman being powerful and independent.

They really went: her character motivation will revolve around her dead brother (whos characterisation we butchered completely btw) and her literal worst enemy who we will make a love interest for her, because enemies to lovers is popular with the 14 year olds on tiktok.

It feels like misogyny under the guise of womens empowerment.

Like, yeah she was a warrior and a leader. She has POLITICAL POWER. But the people around her treat her like a teenager. Like the writers can't conceive a woman who does not have to claw and struggle to be heard.

Personally i like to think that Aiwei genuinely cared for the Beifongs and that his 'nightmare' in the Fog of Lost Souls is them calling him a traitor. Or what the Red Lotus would've done to the Beifongs if they were to fight. Especially that where he is now, he doesn't know what is going on in the material world.

An eternity of knowing you betrayed the family that welcomed you into their midst and that if harm were to come to them, their blood would be on your hands and not knowing if they're safe.

Forever haunted by the knowledge that you found yourself a place in the world and threw it away at the behest of a cruel zealot.

Random things for my Weilin Selkie AU:

Every Selkie is born with a connection to the Song of the Sea, which connects them to the sea, their respective coats and one another. This allows selkies to find their way to their coats if lost and binds them to the person who takes their coat. They also can feel when someone is touching their coats.

The song is blocked by inanimate objects, ergo if a selkie's coat is locked in a chest or hidden under floorboards, the selkie can't hear the coat's song. This of course usually causes severe distress

Toph is still blind, but uses the song to maneuver her way around the sea.

When Su and Lin were young, Lin got captured by seal hunters, who skinned her, therefore cutting her off from the song and the sea. She now lives in the town as a constable. Her family thinks she's dead.

Kuvira is a deep sea mermaid that the family adopted. She has deep sea gigantism which makes her bigger than her adopted siblings. She also can't go on land like the selkies, so the others will often bring her back things.

I'm mixing and matching selkie lore, of course, so it's not fully accurate to the real folklore.

I forgot i maade this post for a day, but like the idea is that Bumi used to fight pirates when he was in the United Forces and Su's chef used to be a pirate.

So my crack headcanon is that they used to nemesis and then Chef faked his own death to go be a cook for Su's family.

So years pass and Bumi is in Zaofu for one reason or another and they're having dinner and they see each other and it's like that spiderman pointing at spiderman meme.

It's my personal headcanon that Bumi and Suyin's chef have massive beef with each other
