I think we all find some shiny pokemon aggravating due to their being either A) almost indistinguishable from the normal pokemon, or B) just a really unfortunate palette choice, honestly. (Looking at you, Dragonite.)

However, there is another subset of questionable shinies that I think is the absolute funniest, and that is:

The Only Color We Changed Is Canonically Not Part Of The Pokemon’s Body

Mimikyu is colorblind and/or thinks Pikachu is off-white, I guess??? Tinkaton, I’m sorry but it seems your shiny quality is just “prefers rusty metal.” And now I am pondering where in Alola Komala got that miraculously pink and white log. Apparently being "shiny" IS a state of mind in some cases!

Preparing the boards

There was a lot of meticulous cutting involved. I tried to be as precise as possible and kept all the cut parts because I figured one of the difficult things might be to get all the long and slender parts on the case without getting any skew. So I glued one piece and used cut out parts for spacing.

I feel like the spaced design with black and white spaces (the ones to go and the ones to keep for this design) have appeal too though. So that might be an idea for another design.

One thing I learned with this design was. Check if you have a paper that works with what you're planning. I could have gone with one plain colour, but I wanted a pattern that kind of worked with the paper that was already on the book as well as sort of reflect the inside.

Turned out many did not... especially with the marbled papers it was often hard to discern the title.

I noticed a few details in the adoption photo!!

Blue band aid = Baby blue!! AKA Little Lee!!

Purple band aid = Little plum!! AKA Donnie boy!!

Red band aid = Sweet strawberry!! AKA Raphala!!

And last but not least....

Donnie's hearing aid!!!

Mikey’s bandaids were actually the colours of his stickers and the faces on his kneepads, but I like your idea better lol

And yes! Dee’s hearing impaired in my AU! (I forgot to draw the aids on the teenage version of Dee tho)

I tend to draw a lot of inspiration from stuff that I relate to or am interested in. Several of my cousins were adopted, so that was the main inspiration for the AU as a whole. A few kids in my church are hearing impaired and require hearing aids, and one or two of them know ASL (which I’ve always wanted to learn) so that was the inspo for Donnie. There’s other stuff that happens in the AU that either happened to me or to someone I know, or just because that topic has always fascinated me.
