hello everybody! my name is diana, and this is a new studyblr! this is a sideblog, and i follow from @arteimys

here’s the deal on me: - diana - 18 - freshman in college - attending a community college (CC) - studying business - she/her - grayace as hell some of my goals: - transfer to a top UC (california) school - go to law school - work in entertainment law

some of my interests: - i love studying languages! i’ve dabbled in japanese, korean, and hebrew, but i’m most fluent in french outside of english. - i love films, specifically sci-fi films! some of my faves are arrival, interstellar, thor ragnarok, and captain america. - i also really love overwatch! i’ve even been trying to get into it competitively, but apart from that, the lore is so cool. if anyone wants to learn more about CC’s, i’d love to make a post on it! so often it’s expected that we go straight into an ivy fresh out of high school, and quite frankly that’s not the vast majority of people’s realities - CC’s are a fantastic opportunity and i’m so passionate about them! so, yeah, hit me up if you want to learn more! some folks who inspired me to start my own studyblr, in no particular order: @studylustre @rhubarbstudies @eintsein @studyquill  @obsidianstudy that’s all for now, thanks for reading!  ✨

one april afternoon i was feeling lonely and empty, to pick myself up i decided to journal. this is what i came up with. it immediately brightened up my mood for it became an outlet to pour my feelings and channel it into something creative. i really love this spread. i suggest everyone to journal whenever you can!

Part 3 of my Studyblr University Orientation Week! 

Living fully on your own for the first time is one of the hardest things you will ever do. You’re now responsible for everything about your life and it can be pretty overwhelming at first (especially if you’ve got anxiety like me). So here are a few tips to help you out! 

Get good roommates. Screen them vigorously to make sure that you’ll be able to live with them. “Roommate from hell” isn’t just something in movies. 

Be a good roommate yourself. The best way to get along with someone is to have them like you. This means respecting their space, privacy, and belongings. Don’t eat their food, don’t steal their clothes without asking, and don’t go into their room without knocking. 

Label the food you put in the fridge. It’s the easiest way to avoid disputes. This means also respecting the labels on your roommate’s food. 

Work out a cleaning schedule and be sure to stick to it. 

Budget. This includes your money and your time. You need to be sure that you won’t starve but also that you make time in your busy schedule to do things like the dishes or vacuuming. 

Learn a few basic recipes. Knowing how to make a really good grilled cheese can save your ass when you’re in a pickle over money. 

At some point in time you will open your fridge and cupboards only to realize that you have no food. It will be ten at night and all the grocery stores near you have just closed. You will make something absolutely disgusting. Heads-up: egg noodles in beef broth is absolutely horrible. Please do not repeat my mistakes. 

You’ll most likely have to commute a little ways to school. I’ll be doing a commuting post tomorrow, but for now just take this one piece of advice: know where you’re going. Know the exact stop you get on the bus at, which bus to catch, if you need to transfer, and what stop to get off at. It sounds pretty simple, but I had a roommate who had no clue where she was going half the time. 

Call home for advice. Your parents know how to handle/fix most problems. 

Own basic tools. Know how to use them. At the very least you need a screwdriver. 

Get a drying rack for your laundry. It’ll save you money on the machines and it usually only takes a day or two for most clothes to dry (maybe longer if they’re jeans or a hoodie). 

Don’t forget to sweep. Dirt appears out of nowhere. One day you will sweep and then find that your floor is still covered in dirt even though you were meticulous. I don’t get it either. 

Tell your roommate(s) as soon as you’re having a problem. They may not listen, but at least you will have done your job.

Hey!!! sorry i’ve been so absent on tumblr, it’s just i’ve been insanely busy for a mock trial competition (which i broke down crying for lmao) and it turned out my team won third place!! i won best attorney in my room twice, while my sister @victuuri-trashhh won best witness once!! i’m so very very proud of our team!! today has been an INSANELY good day; not five minutes ago i found out i got into an internship at one of the most prominent museums in our area !! :D here are some notes i made to review for science :) also i will be way more active in like a few weeks, first got finals D:

Part 5 of my Studyblr University Orientation Week 

I’d just like to preface this with two things: 

I’m from Canada, where the legal drinking age is 19. I’m legally allowed to drink in my country, as are many other university students, including many first years. So before any Americans come for me about condoning underage drinking: I am not American. I do not condone underage drinking. 

Okay now that we’ve got the disclaimers over with, let’s talk about alcohol. CW: discussions of vomit and rape. 

You don’t have to drink if you don’t want to. Some people will be assholes about this. Ignore them. There are lots of reasons not to want to drink, including flat out just not liking it. 

It’s not a clear cut between people who never drink and people who get drunk every weekend. Some people drink every weekend but only have one beer. Some people go out with friends once a month and get really drunk. Like so many things, this is a spectrum. 

Know what you’re drinking and how it will affect you. This means knowing if your drink has vodka or rum in it and knowing that rum makes you really sleepy. Don’t have five shots the first time you try vodka. You don’t know how that shit’s going to affect you and you don’t want to find out the hard way that it makes you really horny. 

Make sure that you’re either drinking with someone or you’re giving someone updates and not drinking too much. Getting drunk on your own can be dangerous. Don’t do it. 

Drink lots of water. 

Eat something before hand. No drinking on an empty stomach, y’all. 

Throw up in the toilet. Not the sink. Not all over the toilet. 

Clean up your own vomit. It’s rude to make your neighbour do it, especially when you projectile vomit all over the toilet. 

Don’t text while drunk. 

Hey sober buds? Don’t let people tell you important shit when they’re drunk or tipsy. And if they do, don’t hold it over their heads. They aren’t thinking clearly and it’s a shitty feeling to have something you didn’t mean being held over you like it was something that you did. 

Hey sober buds? DRUNK PEOPLE CANNOT CONSENT. IF YOU ARE SOBER AND YOU HAVE SEX WITH SOMEBODY WHO IS DRUNK THAT IS RAPE. 

Hey sober buds? Keep an eye out for your drunk buds. Use the buddy system and don’t let them wander off somewhere alone. 

Don’t leave your drink unattended. If you do, don’t drink it anymore. 

Pour your own drinks at parties. 

Don’t drink and drive. 

Know your limits.
