Background by @xpau-official
Wanted to do some interactions between characters from different creators. It feels a little strange including creators I liked from the past and present in one drawing, but I don’t hate it! It’s just.. reminiscent..?
Khai & Dev- Me!
Virux & Kable- @bunrux
Codex & Cherry- @thenoblescosplay
Reverie- @rinky-dinky-dink
Appreciation notes for these creators (feel free to skip these if you’re not them)
(Don’t wanna make these too lengthy. Also sorry, I’m not good with words-😭)
To Beau,
I’m happy to have met you when getting fixated again on Undertale AUs and I had fun developing Rev with you, even if it wasn’t much. I’m also thankful for you and others helping me make Khai into something much more than a concept, because otherwise Khai would kinda be nothing right now.
To Bun,
I’m glad I discovered you when I became fixated on Undertale AUs again recently, because Virux & Kable are really cool characters and I love em. Know that you helped kickstart my fixation again. (is this a curse or a blessing? lol)
To Tanu & Chinchi,
You guys were a big part of my childhood, a big influence for me, and helped me discover who I was as a person. I loved y’all’s cosplays and AUs! Your characters are also really unique and inspiring and I hope the project is going well if you’re still working on it! Codex’s scarf arms actually had inspired younger me to make a character with scarf arms as well, so yea tysm for being an inspiration for my younger self <3
To past me,
Hey, hope you didn’t miss leaving the fandom, because you came crawling right back after 6 years. I know you hated how bad your art was compared to some others your age, and hell even now, but at least you’ve become better at drawing, and that’s what matters. Everyone has a different art journey and sure yours may be slow, but improvement is what matters. Crazy how you got fixated again tho lmao.
Tumblr media
If you made it this far, congrats! I went digging through my photos and.. Omg this is from 2017 😭 I had only posted this on instagram and then deleted it after leaving the UTMV fandom, so it’s been collecting dust in my photos until now.

i think one of the major things i see with modern games/artists that try to replicate a late 90s/early 2000s low-poly style is that they tend to go a bit too hard into readability. All the games I've played from that time have a style sort of characterized by the fact that their texture is more 'complex' than the actual 3D model itself, which sort of causes objects/enemies/npcs/whatever to often look stretched or largely ambiguous about what they're actually supposed to be. Like don't get me wrong a lot of people are ignoring that sort of texturing on purpose because they want their art to be readable (which makes sense, and can lead to very visually pretty results when done correctly) but I am a bit sad to not see practically anyone trying to replicate what games at the time actually looked like. It's especially sad to see game like dusk or gloomwood not go 100% into this because their subject matter would greatly benefit from it imo. Just think about how many games at the time had these almost eldritch, otherworldly set pieces and motifs! they had those because their models were often hard to decipher and kind of gross looking because of the limitations of the technology they had to work with, and so rather than just going welp the game looks bad oh well, they made creature designs that actually worked with this. none of this ultimately matters but I am kind of tired of seeing so many games made that try to emulate this style that don't understand why it existed in the first place.

also let's not pretend that as a collective, we dragon age fans have not been using our imaginations to rewrite entire plotlines and fill in gaps for 15 years. i have my minor gripes and major concerns, but i also know we're all gonna do what we always do: make up shit we like better for our personal narratives and canon anyway. i encourage haterism in the name of improving what we love but let's also be honest with ourselves. the diehards among us were gonna find something to love and cling to in every entry no matter what.

You know damn well that if Sylus was the one playing an otome and you were his fave LI, he'd be spending so much money on you that the devs would have to create a new VIP tier level just for him.
All of your cards are max level, r3, with the best fully leveled protocores, he owns every outfit, he keeps you at max affinity level, has every plushie and badge, perfectly decorated desk...
Hell, if the devs fuck up one of your cards/it's not to his liking because it deviates from your usual personality, you know he's buying the fucking company STAT.
And don't get me started when he finally requests to meet the VA that delivers the lines with such a wonderful voice... (You!! It's you irl!!!) He immediately asks you out on a date and gives you an insane pay raise 😭😭😭😭

How powerful is adult Peri?
Fairy babies are considered dangerous because they have no control over their magic powers, but Peri (then Poof) was exceptionally magical. Like, on the day this man was born, his fart reset the entire universe. I’m not sure if there’s a canonical reason for why he's so powerful (maybe because he was created out of wish magic?) but it’s established he had powers that most fairies as infants do not.
What I want to know is how strong is Peri as an adult? We haven’t seen much of his abilities beyond granting Dev’s wishes. He also still has his rattle, at least the top part now attached to a cane. This is likely a visual reminder that this character was once Poof, but it’s also interesting if he still needs to use it to control his magic to some extent. Like his magic as an adult is only as controlled as a normal fairy baby’s would be/very overpowered and tricky to control with additional wand technology.
If this is true, it explains his personality really well. If Peri was a DnD character, he’d fall somewhere on the lawful alignment. This is unlike his parents, who respect the rules but lean way heavier on the chaotic side. You would think a fairy baby born with such potential for rampant chaos would have a chaotic personality to match, but what if he HAS to be a rule follower because his magic would be too dangerous otherwise? A little like Raven in Teen Titans being stoic to keep her emotion-driven powers controlled. If Peri had to keep his magic under control at all times or risk being a danger to those around him, he would absolutely grow up to be a hard stickler for the rules and feel really nervous about deviating from them.
Does that mean we might see some crazy magic feats from him in the finale? Maybe, but this is just speculation. I’m curious what other people think about how much power he has, and if he lost it all as an adult or he's still way stronger than the average fairy godparent but trying to keep it in check.

You think there some scenes in the anime that might not be too similar to the Manga? Because someone pointed about the ravens in Yuu's world not from the Manga and if you think about it, the housewardens are placed separately in their own group in the anime instead of sitting together in the manga.
I really hope there some unique additions yet stay similar to both the manga and game. Because some of things in the manga felt too rushed (like Ace and Deuce together in that statue scene and being expelled for one incident seems too harsh compare to them breaking the chandelier as a second offense with Deuce throwing Ace to get Grim out of the way. It also showcase what many believe that Deuce is a typical rule-follower and smart in that scene only to learn that he is actually not bright from that chandelier idea) and unnecessary change that felt weak (Riddle being rude to Yuu about their parents and life after Yuu complains about his dictatorship in the dorm vital that brought anger to Deuce and Ace for insulting his friend showing their friendship yet the manga shows Riddle being rude to Ace and Deuce which feels weak).
I do admit the the overblot transformation from Riddle is pretty cool and the backstory is heartbreaking using the Alice in Wonderland themes. Even having more Heartslabyul screen time from the trial room singing and beastmen that aren't from Savanaclaw.
Changes are basically guaranteed in adaptations; it’s a natural result of shifting mediums and having different groups of creatives working on the projects. How the game devs, mangaka, and light novel author choose to depict and frame the same main story content already differs across the retellings. This includes removing some scenes, combining scenes, expanding or clarifying already existing scenes, and/or adding entirely new scenes. The same will likely be true of the anime. Even if it is intended to be an adaptation of the manga, the manga will not perfectly translate to animation and won't be just a shot-for-shot (or panel-by-panel replay).
Details like the ravens being shown in the anime trailer can afforded in animation to help establish the ominous mood. In the manga, the scene of Yuuken heading home and being hit by the dark carriage literally takes only two pages. The anime can’t let this scene pass by too quickly (or it feels rushed going by in the eyes of a viewer), so it makes sense that the scene would be elongated by showing the environment and building tension before the big impact.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The dorm leaders being seated separately rather than together is most likely an anime decision made to showcase multiple characters at once, rather than just the dorm leaders. For example, we can see Rook and Jamil in shots of Vil and Kalim since the anime shows them with their dorm members. It’s also nice being able to see several mob students (with actual eyes!!!!) in the background. This is just good trailer material, which the anime benefits from.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I hope that the anime has content exclusive to it; it would be a neat incentive for long-time fans to spot, and it would allow the anime to make use of its later release time to sprinkle in Easter eggs. For example, the manga shows Riddle in his Apprentice Chef outfit while making his salty apology tart for the end of book 1. This outfit didn't actually feature in book 1 (released March 2020) in-game because the first Master Chef/Culinary Crucibles event didn't release until February 2021. This adds to the content without too drastically deviating from the main story. It'd be great if the anime kept these or even added more of them!
Tumblr media
Certain changes made to the manga were probably done in an effort to streamline events, as they can only take up so much space in the monthly magazine in which they are serialized. Ace and Deuce are introduced together in the manga, as opposed to one at a time in the game. They probably cut out that chandelier scene and made them both get into trouble over setting the Queen of Hearts statue on fire in order to save on pages. Now sure what they'll do with this for the anime? I think they'd have the run time for two incidents instead of just the one, but it depends on how many episodes total are dedicated to covering the prologue and how each incident is depicted??? Like, you could very easily have both if you just had a montage, but I'm assuming that most Twst fans would prefer fully animated and more fleshed out scenes (which would eat up more screen time). Really hard to judge at this point since we don't know what the pacing of the anime will be like.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As for who Riddle directs his post-duel insults toward, it's a point of debate among fans and has been for a while. I have a post discussing this in more detail--but essentially, the game version is the only one in which Riddles insults are vague enough to potentially refer to Yuu. In the manga and the light novel, it's made more explicitly clear that Riddle means to insult Ace and Deuce. I assume that the game--which has the blank slate self-insert Yuu for players to project onto--was intentionally open-ended so that players can fantasize about having someone (Ace) stand up for them when someone else is being cruel to them. I feel that the anime will most likely go with Riddle insulting Adeuce, since Yuuken isn't a self-insert and it may not make sense given his backstory doesn't focus on his parents or him being raised a certain way??? Unless the anime of course chooses to expand on those points and make them bigger deals, or they change the nature of Riddle's insults to perhaps be more geared towards implying Yuuken is a bad role model for others. This would hurt Yuuken more, as he is shown to have a kouhai in Kendo Club that he cares a lot for and even sees him in Deuce.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the end, I think the changes and extra content they implement really depends on how the animation team wants to use the screen time they have. They could get away with more in the early seasons where not much is happening, but maybe not so much in later seasons when the stakes ramp up and they really have to lock in on the main plot points they have to hit.

Rollback: Fix to Abnormal Rotation Speed for Neuvillette's Charged Attack
Tumblr media
Dear Travelers,
After the Version 4.8 update, we have been paying close attention to the feedback regarding the new version, of which includes the fix to the abnormal rotation speed for Neuvillette's Charged Attack. After reading through all of your feedback, we truly understand everyone's concerns. We are sincerely sorry that this fix has resulted in an unsatisfactory experience for our Travelers, and we realize that no matter what the original intention was, modifications to any released characters would hurt the trust and support that our players have given us. Thus, we would like to sincerely apologize to all of you.
[TLDR: 1,600 free Primogems and Neuvillette change reversed in future update]
Prior to this, the dev team noticed that under certain circumstances, players could achieve high-speed rotations with Neuvillette during his Charged Attack by adjusting the sensitivity or mouse DPI settings, which allowed them to inflict 360° damage. However, for Travelers using different devices, achieving similar results proved to be difficult. Moreover, the high camera rotation speed would result in a visual blur of game scenery and enemies, which significantly deviates from the usual gaming experience.
The developers' original intention was to ensure that under normal gameplay Neuvillette's Charged Attack damage remained consistent without affecting the intended controls by Travelers (whereby a normal rotation speed or shaking could be achieved). With this premise, we aimed to adjust the rotation speed to a reasonable range, to ensure Travelers' consistent experience over different devices.
With multiple factors needed to be considered, repeated discussions and testing, the fix was implemented in Version 4.8.
After the fix went live and Travelers experienced it firsthand, players provided a lot of feedback regarding the fix. Some Travelers mentioned that using Neuvillette's Charged Attack now felt more clunky, which was indeed an oversight on our part.
Therefore, after gathering and compiling feedback and suggestions from Travelers, we have decided to rollback this fix in a subsequent update and issue a compensation of Primogems ×1,600 to Travelers accordingly.
Please stay tuned for further notices regarding the specific update schedule and issuance of compensation.
We once again sincerely apologize to all of the Travelers. We thank you for your support, it is because of all of you that Genshin Impact has come this far. In future updates, we will be more cautious in decisions related to content that has been released to provide the best possible gaming experience for Travelers.

Wisdom teeth removed. In hella pain. Time for more deltarune posting
So the prophecy right? At first it was kind of incidental but then it became crazy important in chapter 4, and I wanna talk about my main theory about it. But first some context!!!
So we know how the prophecy as presented in chapter 4 goes, relatively speaking. But the most interesting part of the prophecy is everything else around it, so that's mainly what I'm gonna talk about.
So. In Deltarune, the main religon practiced in home town is about. Well. The Deltarune. And in fact, the original prophecy is seen as some sort or religous text. It's read aloud akin to how the bible would be in church, and they write hymns about it and shit. It is also stated that a lot of the prophecy has been lost to time, which is very important so remember that. Now, if you've been following deltarune for a while now, the focus on religon might seem kind of weird, given that it has been largely about escapism through media and games and television, but that's where Lord Of The Hammer comes in.
Lord of The Hammer is confirmed by Gerson to be based on the prophecy, with a lot of creative liberties taken. Gerson is all about writing your own stories, your own endings, and is overall a pretty chill dude. Despite deviation being looked down upon in real life religon, most people seem to think Lord of The Hammer was badass, and they even keep copies of it in the church. Lord of the Hammer was apperently so baller that they MADE A VIDEO GAME BASED ON IT.
Dragon Blazers drives me nuts. It is referred to heavily in chapter 2 and the sweepstakes, and might be the NES game we play in chapter 3, given that it features the Ice Palace. It has been generally accepted that Dragon Blazers was used by Deltarune to sort of refer to itself, but since it was loosely based on the Prophecy, it makes perfect IN UNIVERSE sense for there to be parallels.
So. Back to the whole "most of the prophecy is lost" bit. Because it really seems like it ISN'T, given that a lot of Darkners got that shit memorized. So it mostly seems like the light world is clueless about it, right? Well, here's where I get into conspiracy theory territory.
Ralsei's explanation of Dark Worlds is largely what most people expected, with darkners being real world items turned into full fledged people with thoughts and feelings. But the way he describes how this happens is the important part. He says that, when it gets dark, objects can appear as something else, such as a chair looking like a monster, or a poster looking like its moving. Dark worlds are what happens when you get "Darker than dark." Other than being a sickass gaster reference, this reveals something important about Darkners. That they're interpretation of their given object made manifest.
So the prophecy. What does this have to do with the prophecy. Well, again, Lord of the Hammer is a loose adaptation of the prophecy. A what if scenario based on Gerson's creativity, world view, and vision. It's his interpretation. Like wise, Dragon Blazers is it's own interpretation of HIS work, based of the dev's own worldview.
Dragon Blazers is a game that seems pretty important to Susie and ESPECIALLY Noelle. Even if Susie has never heard of the prophecy, she has learned it via Dragon Blazers. Kris and Noelle have also been to church, and the Knight, (presumably Dess) has a connection with Gerson, author of Lord Of The Hammer, given that he manifests as mostly the same when he was alive. Basically everybody important to the Prophecy has heard about that shit before through various mediums.
I think its notable that Lord of The Hammer is unfinished. Gerson died before he could complete it. We don't know if Dragon Blazers ended, but given it was based on Lord of The Hammer, its doubtful. And, of course, most of the prophecy is lost to time.
It really makes you wonder. What if Gerson finished Lord of The Hammer? What if Dragon Blazers had an ending? What if we found the missing parts of the prophecy?
In darkness, our minds fill in the blanks. The silhouette of a chair can be seen as a monster, and the poster can seem like its moving. In complete darkness, you can't see anything. You can't know anything. You can't know the ending.
But what if it was darker than dark?
What if you're brain sees patterns between what you do know. What if the cool new girl at school reminds you of the dragon from dragon blazers? What if your stoic friend's demeanor reminds you of the stoic Knight? What if you could meet your cool older brother when he was your age? What if you think Jockington would look badass with a beard.
Basically, what I'm saying is that, rather than being the actual prophecy, it's simply another interpretation? Another interpretation of a story told over and over and over again. Each time a little different? A story built on greif, lonliness, and curiosity? A story about you and your loved ones overcoming hardships, making new friends, and having adventures.
But this adventure has gotten too real. Somebody might get hurt, you start to worry about how it all ends, somebody you think knows everything is burdened with that knowledge. The cool badass new girl wants to be kind, to be a hero. It's what happens when your world view becomes real.
Anyways I call it Interpretation Theory and its my weird pretentious son. My face hurts like fucking crazy but hey deltarune is pretty cool. Anyways

An Explanation of Our Mentality With Localization
Almost a day removed, and I have to say I am very happy with how everyone has responded to the announcement of Lil' Nordion. It's still a work in progress with many changes up for debate, but I figure it may do well to further explain the primary mentality we had when making some of our more... out there terminology choices.
First and foremost, the job of a translation is to make it playable for the intended audience, no doubt about it. It was constantly in our mind that this patch would be for those experiencing Jugdral for the first time, switch era fans if you will. As such, we wanted to cater to the most recent localizations the series has used as of Fire Emblem Engage (Perceptive is a bit tricky, see ThePsyShyster's blog). Off of face value, some of our decisions may also seem to contradict that by deviating from series staple terminology in English.
That's where the middle ground comes in. Making things approachable for new fans, but also honoring the game's uniqueness as well as we can. Especially for terms which don't have official localizations (like the zantetsu no ken and Forrest, though the former at least had zantetsu localized as ironbane/piercing in FE Warriors) we wanted to elaborate on what the unique Japanese text was trying to convey. Using Forest Knight > Ranger in Sacred Stones gave us the idea of trying to do something unique with Duke Knight, which is how the historical reference in Banneret, seasoned (bannered, heh) knight commanders who often lead lance knights in specific, was born. We followed a similar idea with Forrest > Forester (called Hero in PN), completing the correlation that class had with Forest Knight/Ranger. These are decisions in line with what NoA does even today, Timerra's classes in Engage being a great example; Vigilante > Sentinel, Pitchfork > Picket. The decision to revert Shaman is another interesting one I could make an entire post about as I was the strongest soldier in favor of the change.
Admittedly, we wanted to find something more flavorful for Mage Fighter and Thief Fighter as well, Spellblade came up often for the former, but figured it might be safest to stick with the other "Fighter" themed classes for now. Of course, we are always open to suggestions.
This reasoning is related to choices like Heal and Ironbane Sword as well. With the primary goal still being to appeal to that modern audience, we also want to preserve FE 4's unique terminology when we can — that middle ground. Part of a game's flavor and identity comes from its namechart, after all. I was against Lord, Hero, Priestess, etc. in PN because it removed so much of the intentional differences in how FE 4 presents itself compared to the rest of the series. Heal (assumed to be a precursor to Renewal) being named differently to match the adjacent Recover skill is part of that. Yes, Renewal is what more recent fans know a skill that heals you every turn to be, but simply naming it that also removes the intentional parallel FE 4's devs wanted to draw with the naming conventions of the skills and staves at the time. FE 5 went on to call this skill of similar effect by its modern name, but with "heal" returning in a skill context as of Three Houses (although doing a different thing), it feels a bit wrong to blatantly ignore what the Japanese text says here just for simplicity sake. It's tricky, as something is missing no matter what name is decided.
Now, a lot of these points were just argued off of vibes prior to FEH and Engage making the conscious decision to bring back the classes of Sword Fighter, Axe Fighter, etc. In a post Engage world, however, where Sword Fighter has been differentiated from Myrmidon twice now, I can't help but feel NoA cares about these small and unique differences in terminology as well. Thus, we followed suit. Like I said many times, this doesn't mean we aren't open to change, far from it! We will even have a discord taking feedback coming soon. This post was just to explain our perspective better than a chart could, provided I did a good job explaining myself, haha.

I've seen so many people express disinterest in Dawntrail by saying something along the lines of "there's nothing in it for me". And I'm going to be honest, I don't really understand this sentiment.
When I began playing ARR, I didn't know anything about the world or the people or the characters or why my own character should care about any of it. I was set down in an unfamiliar world and expected to just walk around doing generic quests waiting for something interesting to happen to my character. With Dawntrail, the WoL is a well established character with a characteristic love of travel, discovery, and the world and people at large. The WoL is traveling with well known companions, and has clear goals to pursue while getting to explore a whole new continent. Comparatively, there is far more "in it for us" in DT than there was at the beginning of ARR. (Unless you played 1.0, but the majority of players have not.)
You never have investment at the beginning of a story, whether it's a game or book or movie or anything else. You become invested over the course of the story, as you learn more about the world and characters. Going into Dawntrail, we have the advantage, first, of knowing that the devs have an excellent track record of creating complex characters, fascinating worlds and compelling stories. And second, we have the advantage of having been shown a great deal of the world we are about to enter.
Personally, I have found all of the images and information about Tural hint at some amazing worldbuilding. It's a completely different kind of place from what we're used to and I find that very exciting. I love diverse regions and intricate cultures and getting to explore them in game. If you don't... well I have to wonder why you're playing this game.
Similarly, if you've developed your WoL to be someone contradictory to their canon characterization, someone who doesn't like to travel and experience new places and people and who would not be interested in Wuk Lamat and Krile's goals... Well, it's kind of on you if you don't feel there's anything "in it for you" in this expansion. Because it's clearly been purposefully crafted to appeal to the canon WoL, the one that SE is telling their story about.
And while I completely understand the desire to develop characters that deviate from the msq and experience the world of FFXIV in other ways, I don't quite understand playing the game but not wanting to experience the story as the devs have made it. You can so easily do both.
Getting to experience the devs' story, to explore their world and meet their characters, is always what's most exciting to me about new expansions. I can enjoy the story for what it is and then decide how I want to apply it to my WoL's development. And I appreciate how much work they put into creating this experience for me and the fact that they do encourage us to create alongside them.
Of course, it's not wrong to feel that there's "nothing in it for you" in this new expansion. But they've been very clear about the fact that this is the beginning of a new story full of unfamiliar elements. So I'm just not sure what some people expected.
