have i talked before about how crazy it drives me that in old bdubs videos he would super abashedly talk about his love for making things pretty? because. it drives me crazy.

at the beginning of mc4 when everyone was clearing out spawn so it was a lifeless flat plot of land to build on and bdubs took it personally and added grass and foliage once everything was built to make the whole landscape more lively and cohesive. and how hed get made fun of for thinking about little shit like that.

also when he got asked what hed be doing if he wasnt doing mc and he mentioned music (i think) and basically was super embarrassed to be like “i know its not very manly, but im super into artsy fartsy stuff”. as if that is a bad thing.

anyway im getting so emo thinking about how in hermitcraft, everyone knows and admires bdubs skill as a builder and its not ever something thats made fun of anymore. thinking about how bdubs never talks down about his own abilities anymore and instead of feeling weird about being a dude whose into artsy fartsy stuff, hes really embraced his career as a creator of beautiful things.

overall I liked the finale!!! they tackled a lot in the time frame and did a really good job of giving us closure for (most of) the characters, it certainly felt better to me than tng's ending, cuz tng just ended, for the most part, like a regular episode

I loved odo's sendoff, him sneaking off so he doesnt have to say goodbye to everyone is very him, and quark not letting odo leave unnoticed was perfect!!! I love the immediate change in odo's entire demeanor when quark showed up, from soft to grumpy >:( and crossed arms lmao

I'm glad they actually had julian and garak say goodbye, I was so worried they wouldnt, it was a nice scene, I liked that garak tried to hide his emotions, but damn. 800 million cardassians dead and most major cities left to rubble, and his mother figure dead, jesus christ. not to mention the millions of cardassians that died while fighting for the dominion

oh and the scene before the cardassian resistance stormed the capital, I love that they started laughing at their horribly bleak situation (also I'm so sad we never got to see more kira and garak interactions like these, I absolutely adore their dynamic)

I also really liked the scene where sisko and admiral ross poured their drinks on the ground because they didnt want to toast over the dead bodies of cardassians

it did feel a little weird to me that the female changeling decided to surrender after linking with odo, odo had tried several times to try and convince AND had linked with her before, so I'm not sure why she wouldnt want to fight until the last jem'hadar soldier was dead, but I suppose odo might not have gone back to cure the great link if she hadnt....

I'm not quite sure what to think about the whole plotline with sisko, it did feel a little rushed at the end with him going to bajor (ok this is nitpicky, but doesnt it take like 3 hours in a runabout to get to bajor?? lol) and dying(?) I know he said he would come back, but with all the vagueness non-linear ness of the prophets, I'm not sure if that means he'll come back in the same corporeal way, which is a fine ending I guess. but!!! I really wanted to see him build his house on bajor!!! he would've been sooooo happy doing that!!!

me, softly but intensely : mat ( the detective ) isn't a flawless character, and he wasn't always in the right in s3. in fact he constantly misunderstood situations to paint himself in a better light, was biased to hell and back, and ultimately was one of the most selfish guests there. people love to forget the fact he constantly trashes on Everlock and never believed any of the town was worth saving, which, while reasonable— he was still the only character to voice this opinion. mat used his best friends' deaths as a reason to trash on manny and nikita during a death challenge despite the fact rosanna ( one of the deaths he used as a reason for his cruelty ) would've been disgusted by such behavior. the detective is an excellent character because he's flawed, and it's so tiring to watch people claim he isn't just because they can't handle criticism towards his character.

also me, still whispering but passionately : the amount of times ive pointed out a mistake mat made and it was reasoned away is ridiculous. especially when that very person will hate another character for the exact same reason. the mat bias in the fandom is well deserved, but not for the reason everyone believes. also, while i'm at it, rosanna and safiya are also both heavily flawed characters like anyone else. they're supposed to be flawed. in fact, they are literally at their worst in etn because they're in a life or death situation. if they weren't flawed, i wouldn't like said characters because they wouldn't make sense in the story they've been put in.

me, one last harsh whisper for good measure : also— if i see people say mat only lost one death challenge im going to lose it. he lost two, actually, 2/3 of the ones he participated in. and both times he lost? it was fair and square. please stop forgetting he utterly failed jc, and please stop excusing his ep5 loss by "well it was a strength challenge! mat's not good at those!" because it doesn't matter. it was still a challenge he lost fairly. he might be helpful, but let's acknowledge that he absolutely sucks at death challenges because he does. even if he won the s4 death challenge that's still 2/4, which is manny's score as well. a score that everyone trashes manny for having. i get having favorite characters but some of the etn mat fans are so biased it literally hurts.
