i genuinely have no animosity towards ppl who get upset abt not being able to read academic texts + i do think we need to expand the pathways/methods of being exposed to critical concepts so that "sit + read for 2 hours" is not the only option.
however, as someone dx with adhd + incapable of sitting still for even a minute (actually right at this moment i am writing this instead of reading the book sitting open in front of me), i do feel like a lot of ppl do not realize that not all readings are designed to be read like a novel.
as in, it's ok + normal + good to need to reread a paragraph several times, to only read part of a book, to have to research or reference words or concepts in order to grasp the reading, to skip over large chunks of text which are not relevant to your expertise, to continue reading despite not understanding a concept. this is something 'neurotypical' academics do frequently + many of these texts, especially contemporary ones, were designed with this in mind.
there are many ppl with accessibility needs that are not being met by academic texts at this time! many texts (in my humble opinion) are unnecessarily complex in order to show off or hide the fact that they have no idea what they're talking about.
i still feel like many of the kneejerk reactions on this site are based on the assumption that their experience reading academic texts should be similar to their experiences reading a nyt bestseller, rather than a process of thinking, analyzing, researching, processing, returning. some of u are telling yourself that any challenges u face while reading are a result of some internal fault u have + not an expected + precious part of the experience.
#like if u hate reading feel free not to#but if u wish u could read theory#but you're convinced it's impossible bcuz it's confusing or difficult or u could never possibly read a whole book?#i encourage u to step away from this idea of reading cover to cover in one run#+ start engaging with theory like a puzzle which u can fiddle with as much or as little as u feel able to

I was thinking about how you'd go about adapting for the Nein show with regard to the alluded-to D-plot following whatever Essek was up to with his Assembly contacts prior to the Nein showing up given that the general sense I get is that the cast does hope to adapt campaign 3 as well, and Ludinus was his main point of contact. If he is not the eventual villain, it isn't tight enough for that format (which is super limited in comparison!) if you don't alter that, since that just ends up feeling like a loose end.
Personally, if I was doing the adapting, I'd probably switch Essek's contact to one of the other collaborators that he listed. Trent seems like the obvious first choice, since it does later tie him to Caleb, but I think you run into trouble there, because it becomes too personal in a way that's harder to reconcile, especially in the time the show allots. It's certainly doable, but I'd personally think it causes more problems than it solves. It would also require threading a needle in terms of his willingness to collaborate with Trent; you could go the A:TLA season 1 route and set him up to be an obviously much worse person, but I think that makes it too clean cut. That's very sensible for a kid's show where you do have an antagonistic teenager who you want the audience to sympathize with, but you can make the dynamic more complex than that in adult media.
Which brings us to the final candidate: Vess Derogna. It took me a minute to think this one through, but this is actually brilliant. You sprinkle her in from the get-go, rather than only vaguely alluding to her through Cree up until Felderwin, and you don't run into nearly as much complication in eventually settling Caleb's distrust of Essek as you would if he had mainly been working with Trent, nor do you risk defanging Essek by juxtaposing him against a blatantly horrific guy. You also ratchet up the horror of Lucien killing her, because she will have been such an uneasily menacing contact for so long, so the audience if not the Nein fully understand how powerful she is and how much influence she has, and he just waltzes in and offs her. That is already pretty powerful in the campaign just by knowing that she's a member of the Assembly, but it hits harder when this person has been an imposition for four seasons straight.
And most importantly, it takes the "What happened to Vess Derogna?" exchange up from funny to fucking hysterical.

THE LIVING MUSEUM: CHAPTER 1

(interactive puzzle at the bottom!)
As luck would have it, the detective had a case that had just been given to her by the Chief Constable Barton (talk about a high order!) I watched as she leafed through the folders on her desk before slipping out a small stack of papers and bringing them over to me. Clearing her throat, Detective Layton ran over the details…

“At approximately 2:00pm, a fire alarm in the Natural History Museum sounded. Around 5 minutes later, visitors in the museum reported that they witnessed several exhibits, and I quote, ‘come to life before their eyes.’ There were visitors who told officials that the suits of armour on display had started to move and raise their weapons, visitors who reported that paintings on the walls started to melt and blink, and visitors who said that the dinosaur skeleton exhibits had opened their mouths and moved their heads. But the most damning of all seemed to be the Tyrannosaurus rex exhibit, who not just moved but assumed a lunging stance with its full body, as well as somehow roared.”
“Right, that’s odd. And?”
“Well, since the officials were only able to question the visitors outside of the museum due to everyone having been evacuated because of the fire alarm, naturally they went inside to check the exhibits themselves.”
“And they found…?”
“Nothing. They did a whole sweep of the area, but they found nothing out of place. All exhibits were in their normal places, the paintings were just fine, and everything was untouched.”
“Wow…”
“I assume the reason that Barton held onto what information they had on it and handed it to me was due to the witnesses. Despite the fact that the Yard found no obvious signs of tampering, everyone swears up and down the walls that the museum had seemingly come to life at that moment.”
“...That is a proper mystery. And these files are all we have on the matter?”
“Well, in a sense, yes. These are all the files we have,” Detective Layton muses as she taps the bottom of the stack on the coffee table. Then, getting up, she drops the stack back in their folder. “...Which is why I was thinking of heading over to the museum myself to do a bit of personal investigation.”
“As expected of the great Professor Layton,” I say cheekily as I stand and follow her to the front door, grabbing my jacket off the hanger in the process. The detective sighs lightly as she places her hat on her head, pulling the brim over her eyes in mock disappointment. “Please, Ms. Altava. It's just Detective.”
Now lifting the brim, she smiles brightly as she grabs her umbrella.

“So, Ms. Altava… let’s go investigate this living museum with our own two eyes, shall we?”
And with that, our adventure into the peculiar museum begi-

“Ah, but before that, I have here the directions to the museum written for me by Barton, and it seems to be a puzzle of some sort. As you’re now my assistant, why don’t you give it a shot? Think of it as a warm-up of things to come.”

…Right. She’s Layton’s daughter, after all. How could I have forgotten? …And are we sure they're not really related by blood…?

Hey everyone, if you haven't played Murder by Numbers yet, now is the time to do so, as it's currently free on the Epic Games Store until July 27th

Described as a "weird little camp love-letter to 90s detective shows, Picross, and Phoenix Wright", this game has you solve Picross puzzles to find clues that you use to solve murders, with an adorable robot by your side

IMPORTANT EDIT: Massive photosensitivity warning for this game. It frequently uses an effect where the entire screen flashes white for just a second. There's no way to turn it off, or avoid it, and it happens very, very frequently (maybe once every five to ten seconds of dialogue), so please be extra cautious if you have migraines, epilepsy, anything that could be triggered by it, and I'd recommend that absolutely nobody plays in a dark room even if they aren't sensitive to flashing.
#I need to replay it actually...... Need to see Jena and Becky again#Going to reblog this a few times before the sales over for sure#Oh and if you don't know what a Picross is. Don't worry it's a very easy puzzle to pick up and they never get too difficult in this game#A fun fact about me is that I have like two hundred hours in this game. Partially bc I kept leaving it open and partially bc I liked#replaying the picrosses

what is her problem
#neopets#okay so the answer is that in the FIRST faerie caves Garon escaped the ice caves and then went on a quest to find more difficult caves#so he challenged Fyora to design a cave puzzle he couldn't complete#without that context it sounds so cruel but she IS technically carrying out her part of the deal#they could have clarified that Garon still WANTS to escape caves. what if the first faerie caves took the love of the game out of him...

Hi!
Have you seen Georgia's insta story? She's filming david and one of the kids called her a creep
https://instagram.com/stories/georgiatennantofficial/3212913988487468030?utm_source=ig_story_item_share&igshid=MTc4MmM1YmI2Ng==
The only purpose of the video is just showing that even the kids think that her filming david all the time is weird
Like, yeah all of it is probs a joke but it rubs me the wrong way🤔
What's your opinion? Your blog is the 1st place i go to when i see news abt DT, GO or MS
(Grouping together since these are related.)
Hi there! Oh, I hadn't seen Georgia's Insta story until I saw your Ask, so thank you for bringing it to my attention.
A little backstory, for those who haven't seen it: Today was David's panel at NYCC, and he started to tell an anecdote about being given a pair of shoes for Christmas when members of the audience began shouting out telling him to tie his (very pink) shoes that were untied on stage. David actually tied the shoes, and the video of the moment was posted by NYCC on Twitter. An hour or so later, Georgia jumped in with a response and at the same time, posted this story on Insta (and the photo in Georgia's tweet appears to be from the same day that the video was taken):
For my part, I was under the impression that this was not a recent video, so to your question @phantomstars24, I don't think she is actually at NYCC with David. Rather, it looks like Georgia was searching for David's name on Twitter (again) and found a place to jump in with the screenshot and video.
In giving my opinion on this, I have to reference Georgia's Insta story from last month at the festival she and David attended, where she recorded him while he was walking and eating his ice cream:
vimeo
Here, we see David take notice of the fact that Georgia is recording, after wondering why she was walking so slowly. He turns away for a moment, then looks back at her and says, "It's never gonna stop," and his voice is uncharacteristically...terse. He doesn't smile, or laugh, or give any indication that he is kidding (that I picked up on, at least). David's energy and the video as a whole just seemed off, but like many of Georgia's posts, it was written off as a joke.
The voice we heard of one of Georgia's children in today's video reminded me of that. Leaving aside the fact that this child actually flat-out called Georgia a "creep" (for which I'm also hard-pressed to find some alternate/jokey meaning) for recording David, the theme in both of these videos is Georgia constantly recording David for the sake of having content. And as we saw with today's Insta story, her then saving that content to use at a later date. I know the people who hate-read my blog will insist that Georgia gets permission from David before posting anything on social media and that he's fine with it, but it is really hard to think that he seems fine in the video from the festival. And how okay would any of us be if our partner constantly took video of us not to make cute memories, but so they can use it to prove a point later on?
As I've said before, all we get is this little slice of their lives that Georgia shares on social media. But increasingly, those little slices are starting to look like moments that might have been better left unrecorded/not posted to social media. To hear Georgia's own child call her out like that was jarring, but it also made me wonder how much they do see/what they think of what they are seeing. Even now it says something that they're already aware of her social media use and the lengths she is going to for content. (For that matter, I wonder what they will think in the future, such as if/when Birdie sees Georgia's Insta post calling her a "drunken accident"...)
Again, this could easily all be chalked up to me just missing whatever the joke/dry humor is here, but these were the impressions I had from seeing Georgia's content today. Happy as always to hear what others think, however, so feel free to chime in on this post...
#electronic-chocolate#phantomstars24#david tennant#soft scottish hipster gigolo#georgia tennant#it is puzzling to me that everything with her gets written off as a joke#because at some point there are things that stop being funny#but it seems increasingly difficult to tell where that point is#i know if it were i would find it unsettling to be with someone who is constantly storing things away to use as 'ammunition'#but i will leave it to my followers to make up their own minds#thoughts#nycc 2023#discourse

Kpp'Ar has a big ass house
Like dude you're an old man that needs a cane, why do you live in a fucking mansion??? No wonder people can't navigate it, not only cause of the puzzles but also because it's huge asf.
Also does Kpp'Ar have a well in front of his house??

Or is it one of those things that people have dates in??
Either way, why does it seem like it's right up against a tree??? What's the point of that? Does he like tree water???
Also, wtf is the point of these stairs?

Like where do they lead? They're not for his porch since there's a small wall in front of it so it leads to something above that window.
Imma be honest yall, I have a lot of questions about his house. Like why does he need so much space? Cause I'm assuming he lives alone and that Viren, Lissa, Soren and Claudia visit him from time to time(based of the novel Puzzle House) so it's not like he lives with them. And Viren(or anyone) gives any indication that he lives with someone since his house is considered abandoned after Viren coined him.
Also I wanna know the set up of Kpp'Ars house because we only see a bit of it in Puzzle House and Virens flashback. Even then, in Puzzle House they're attempting to get to the tower and don't spend that much time in the house. But we see that Kpp'Ar has those armour things in his halls and a few staircases but that's really all we see. Viren only goes to one room and in Kpp'Ars pov we don't really hear a door open or any noise yet Kpp'Ar knows that someone is somehow in his house yet doesn't know who it is.
So I'm just curious about the set up and how it really works because in one post I mention how Viren says that Kpp'Ars house is nearly impossible to navigate and that King Atticus calls it a clockwork puzzle. Which means it's sentient in a way, difficult to navigate because of the puzzles and size, or Viren is lying and King Atticus is just assuming based on what people have said.
#the dragon prince#kpp'ar the dragon prince#tdp kpp'ar#kpp'ar#tdp puzzle house#his house is very interesting to me#it has puzzles intergrated into its structure and is known to be a difficult place to navigate by both his student and the king of katolis#and bro casually builds shit#he built carousel#and probably other things since king atticus immediately assumes what hes building is a poweful magical contraption#kpp'ar builds weapons confirmed? /hj#giveusthesaga#continuethesaga#give us arc 3
