One thing I love in games is.. how to put it.. more difficulty options than just 'Easy, Normal, Hard', more than just a singular linear option.
Chained Echoes let you modify the size of the overdrive bar, the stats of enemies, and how aggressive enemies were, which was pretty nice.
Sea of Stars on the other hand has 'relics' which have a wide variety of effects, so far one just seems to make the game MUCH harder while the others make the game easier in a variety of ways.
Boost max HP by 100%, auto-heal after each fight, take 30% less damage, auto-succeed on timed hits for normal attacks, etc.
Only one was on by default for me which was 'full heal on level up' which I probably would have turned on anyways. Also, I hate the 'mystery locks' gimmick and the game lets me turn that off, which is nice. I also turned on one that makes it more obvious when you did a timed hit or timed guard successfully.
I know it's difficult but I love it when any game does stuff like this, I don't consider a typical difficulty slider to be a knock against a game, but when a game lets you go fiddle with more than just 'how much stats do enemies have?' it's really nice.

How do you tell Gamers ™️ that Easy Modes exist for a reason and that, if it wasn't important, the dev team wouldn't have spend months coding it?

I ended up finishing the Cozy Celebrations event tonight instead of doing much story stuff. So here are two idiots in dumb Christmas sweaters. The fact that I was spending time with them is probably a spoiler in itself, but holiday spirit prevails.

I’ll leave Aaron alone. But moving away would be harder. I’d be living with strangers.

what's weird about the fantasy high drama is that like. it seems to me like people forget d&d is primarily a) a game you play with your friends and also b) luck based.
I mean it's fine to say that "nothing felt like a challenge" and "they just dominated everything and there weren't any stakes" but like. it's not as if they weren't up against huge threats. they lost the mall fight. the last stand was an onslaught of enemies. they fought a dozen dragons from an airship. the fights were hard. they're just really good. they've had very good dice luck in general this season and are all very high level and highly specialized. fig is gonna beat deception and performance checks. adaine's gonna figure out the arcana. riz is gonna succeed investigations. like. for some reason their strategical competence and wisely picked abilities are. a downside? a disappointment?
the thing about d&d that you need to remember is it's first and foremost a game. it's mostly random and it takes you down weird paths and you're playing to have fun with your friends. the dice are literally telling the story that it's their time, it's their year. they've struggled enough. they've trained enough. they're good at what they do. and in my post about the academic/domestic/personal stressors being the focus, d&d doesn't have any other system to work them out than rolling different skills. that's what d&d is. brennan set specific challenge levels for different tasks and the players strategized to prioritize which abilities they were strongest in. the challenges were there. and the players rose to them. they were both smart in their delegation of responsibilities and lucky with their dice rolls. of which, both are foundations of d&d.
don't mistake them being good players and getting lucky with there being no hardship. just because they smashed through the wall, that doesn't mean the wall wasn't strong. they were just stronger.

Erotic lawyer roleplay is underrated.
"As your defense attorney, I'm going to get you off."
"You were arrested for public indecency, so I need to see what we're dealing with here." "That is actually a very decent rack and a jury will agree."
"Your honor, in chambers?" bedroom eyes
"Erection, your honor!”
“My client has been accused of malicious erection.”

you. You’re the reason that i bought monster hunter world on steam when it was on sale for like ten bucks. I have no idea what i’m doing here. The beasties are cool and i have opinions on animal behavior but also what the fuck. I don’t understand the controls. I’m genuinely just flailing around with swords now. What is a combo and why is it just me clicking randomly on things
HA HA YES... YES!!!!!!!!! ten dollars for world is an incredible deal!!!!
You're in that funny 8-15 hour period before combat clicks and you dump 100+ hours into the game. (don't worry about the fact it can take 15 hours. its a journey. you explore the maps and pick mushrooms and capture tiny wildlife in your net. its fun i'm telling you) trust
in all seriousness, you could spend some time in the training area to learn important combos for your weapon's mechanics! all combo knowledge will fly away once you face a scary monster, but also it won't. There are some interesting attacks that are only late combo though. Watching a weapons tips/combo video is really helpful but not necessary. I never did for world switchaxe and you can intuit mostly everything with enough hours. Watch top right corner for different attacks that pop up during combos!
Early on you won't even be landing your fancy 5 attack deep combos since you don't know the monster too well, so getting a one two combo is good enough! consistent one twos is better than getting knocked and hurt trying for the one two three four five ULTRA FUCKOFF ATTACK, if you get what I mean. Don't be the one to over commit to an attack!!! You'll want to get a feel for the monsters attacks, and only attack when the monster makes a mistake and goes into a combo that won't hit you at all. when a monster falls down and cries so very sadly, that's when you go for a full combo
the controls: it is soooo funny that weapon attacks are Like That and Clunky and incredibly dependent on which direction your character is actually facing, but I also love this old style over the wilds focus mode. Once it clicks it is truely so very fun. I'm actually relieved I didn't power thru the world dlc before wilds bc that means I still have a whole game (rise) and a half of that old style
