The Benefits of Mini-Split Heat Pumps
The Ductwork from a standard HVAC system can leak, attributing up to 25% or more in energy loss. Because ductless systems don’t utilize air ducts, they are by a lot more efficient than a conventional system. Not forgetting, the system’s inverter technology automatically adjusts the pace from the compressor so as to deliver more even temperatures and consistent comfort.
Cost
Ductless mini-split systems might cost more than central heat and air systems, especially when ductwork is already in position, but there are distinct advantages to these systems, for instance flexibility, efficiency and noise reduction. The local air conditioning company can provide accurate facts about the cost of these systems. Achievable additions and areas without existing ductwork, lower labor costs for installation can make amends for the cost of ductless system equipment.
Quiet Operation
There’s pointless having the appropriate temperature has to disrupt the peace of this home. With your new mini-split unit, you may not hear from any of the bubbling, gurgling, or cracking that you enable you to with your current heating unit. Unwind, relax, and take a movie if you know your house is an ideal temperature.
Continued Comfort
It’s well known how frustrating it truly is in order to go to sleep inside of a hot room, and exactly how difficult it is to stay warm over a frigid night. A mini-split system lets you remain comfortable by heating the room separately. If you need your family room or bedrooms to be warmer than your dining area, that can be done with such systems.
Highly Flexible
Whereas traditional heat pumps and central heat and air systems force cooled and heated air through ducts, mini-split heat pumps deliver air right into different zones. Mini-split heating systems are made up of a smaller outdoor unit and several indoor units that need activities like mounting capabilities and having access to electricity. They can be installed in home additions, new construction, condominiums, and apartments, or to raise temperature control in specific rooms. Ductless mini-split systems can even be fit for buildings that currently use ducted forced-air systems.
Indoor Air Quality
Often, the products indoor air can actually be below what the products outdoor air. With traditional HVAC systems, air ducts has to be professionally cleaned often, which after cleaning, dust and allergens stay behind. Ductless air conditioning and heating systems, however, offer multi-stage filtration which could drastically reduce dust, bacteria, pollen, allergens, as well as other particulates inside the air. Plus, some mini-split units have washable filters you are able to neat and replace regularly.
Fast and Very Easy to Install
Installing a standard, ducted system usually takes many weeks and disrupts lifestyle inside the home. Ductless systems are much less invasive to fit, and depending upon how many indoor and outdoor units required, is usually up and running after as little as one day. Mini-split systems operate on small pipes that need a mere three-inch hole. Actually homeowners don’t need to panic about rebuilding walls or ceilings around ductwork and there is no decrease in precious square footage.
Carbon Footprint
The miscroscopic size of a ductless mini-split heat pump and its particular zoning capabilities allows for greater energy efficiency. Mini-split heating and air conditioning systems follow ENERGY STAR guidelines, which causes them to be a lot more energy-efficient versus minimum standards set forth from the U.S. federal government. Improved efficiency saves money, naturally, but it assists to lessen your total carbon output. Additionally, ductless mini-split systems make the most of advances in chemistry to cut back effects on the environment. Ductless systems make use of a refrigerant called R410A, which is acknowledged for its zero- ozone depletion potential.

Add Solar Powered HVAC to Your Home
Solar-Powered HVAC is possible One of the dreams here at Roy Creek Ranch has been to add Solar powered heating and cooling (HVAC). We’re now producing substantial power from our solar array, and it would be nice to use that power as much as possible. Also, for those times when the grid fails, some heating and cooling will keep us more comfortable and maybe even a little safer in extreme…

annie cesta week. day #2 - walk, walk fashion baby
summary: follow annie on her journey as she transforms a tackalacious gown from her capitol victory tour into something more district 4 appropriate (and still just as glamorous. bc our girl is glamorous.)
1.5k, i hope you go "who is this DIVA!" the entire time you read this
This dress is all kinds of wrong.
No surprise there. Annie’s been saying that ever since she saw the initial design for it.
Sure, it’s not hideous. And, yes, the material feels very nice against her bare skin. But it’s just not her.
No one in the Capitol knows anything about Annie, but they all like to pretend they do. If they had it their way, they’d probably surgically attach starfish to her hair so that she forever reminds them of the ocean.
Annie obviously loves the ocean. It doesn’t even matter if it’s for work or play. But all these ocean motifs they slapped onto one of her gowns from the Victory Tour is a little too on the nose.
She had begged them to let her keep it. She even cried a little. She couldn’t help it. This was supposed to be her District 4 dress, so why did it look so Capitol?
It’s okay if you don’t get it. She hadn’t really expected anyone to, but there’s one thing that the Capitol has right about her: she can’t let things go. And, right now, she will not rest until she finds a way to revamp this tacky dress into something totally stylish.
First order of business: she needs to seam rip the starfish and sea urchins decorating the fluffy expanse of sea green tulle. Fortunately for her, she gets them all off. Unfortunately for her, not having access to her sewing supplies for so long has made her incredibly rusty. The first layer of the skirt is practically ruined.
Well, that’s okay. It wasn’t practical to wear something so heavy and layered in Four, anyway, so she peels back some more tulle until she gets something appropriately thin and breezy.
Second thing’s second: the silhouette is all wrong. It drags on the ground unless she’s wearing high heels, but she’s officially swapped out her stilettos for sandals. She grabs at a pair of scissors with perhaps a bit too much enthusiasm. She can’t help it—if only the Capitol could see her now.
Snip. Snip. Snip. Take that, you unstylish freaks.
Annie tries the dress on, doing a couple of spins and some rather fierce poses in the mirror. The color of the fabric reminds Annie of a matching skirt and blouse her best friend owns. Think of how cute they’d look tearing up the town like that.
Two piece sets were so in this summer. She’s definitely gonna have to do something about that.
She tugs the dress off, tracking down her favorite crop top and most beloved pair of shorts, and uses the hemlines as a guideline. She really wants to balance out the higher waist with a teeny tiny top. According to the magazine on her bedside table, that was also very in for the summer, and the publication date on that traced back to a mere two months ago. Things couldn’t have changed that much while she was away.
And, even if they did, Annie doesn’t really care. She has a really cute freckle on her ribcage that she fully intends on showing off.
So she makes the skirt mini. And she splits the dress in half. And she stores away the extra fabric in her designated craft bin.
It’s missing something, obviously. It’s missing everything, like glitter and bows and lace and beading, but she gets tired a lot more easily now. It sucks—it really sucks, actually, sucks so bad that she gets angry about it most days—but she’s starting to learn that most things about her new life suck. And she can either pout about it and never start another project again or ride it out and steadily add to her collection of DIY-ed outfits.
Annie chooses the latter. She’s always loved making clothes, and she finds some sort of twisted satisfaction in knowing that she just performed some serious surgery on a Capitol gown. If only her stylist could see her now. She’d blow a gasket.
The thought makes Annie laugh herself to sleep. She’s even smiling when she wakes back up. Granted, it’s the middle of the night, but she doesn’t need to follow a routine now. She already graduated high school. Her parents don’t trust her to get back to work. And, besides, 2am was prime crafting hours. It’s where her best ideas hatch.
Speaking of good ideas, Annie eyes the cape that came with the dress. It’s a glittery amalgamation of light green jewels, and she honestly had no idea what to do with it until now. It’s pretty, absolutely, but it’s just not practical. Capes are so District 7. (She’s not lying. One time, Finnick told her a fairytale about some girl in a cape getting eaten by a wolf, which was so not Annie’s style.)
Annie is picking up her scissors in no time. Scrounging around for a ruler, she cuts up strips of the cape so she can decorate the hemline of her miniskirt with it. Admittedly, she forgot to account for the length the raw hem gave her, so she needs the extra coverage now that she sewed everything up.
She tries it on. Watches her ass in the mirror as she walks. Takes a moment to admire her ass in the mirror. Then she’s back to work.
She chews on the inside of her cheek as she brainstorms new ways to use more of the cape. No amount of revamping could make the bustier look casual, and she doesn’t want it to be. She just wants to add in her own District 4 twist. She wracks her brain once again for ideas.
Ribbons. Bows. Beads. Lace. Ribbons. Bows—
Lace! She can use the cape to lace up the bustier!
So, obviously, she gives it the same treatment she gave the dress: one big chop down the center. Except this time she reminds herself to cut vertically instead of horizontally. Her design would be totally ruined if she split the bustier open the wrong way.
She pokes at the edge with her scissors, trying to visualize where she wants the holes to be. She even grabs an old oversized shirt and cuts it up as practice.
She’s lacing the bustier up in no time, trying it on once again. She strikes another round of poses in the mirror. Her boyfriend is right—her tits really are mermaid levels of entrancing. She crosses her arms over her chest to make them pop just a bit more.
Okay. Break over.
Now that everything is sewed together and fitted to her body, here comes the fun part: decorating. Annie lays the outfit down on her carpeted floor, admiring the glittery trim on the skirt and the matching embellishment on the top. Maybe she can even use some more of the cape for some straps if she really feels like pulling out her sewing needles again. (She doesn’t—not right now, at least. If she has to pull out one more pin cushion, she’ll puke.)
She grabs her box of scrap pieces of fabric and fishes through the pile. She layers two pieces of lace in an X shape over the skirt, kinda giving the illusion of pockets. (Remind her to sew on pockets later.) She adds a glittery butterfly charm to the waistband to complement the belly ring that Finnick already promised he’s gonna get with her. (Piercings are hot. Finnick is somehow hotter.) Then something else in the box catches her eye.
Velveteen gloves. She’s had that in her stash for ages, but she never found an excuse to wear them. She never went anywhere fancy enough (couldn’t afford it) or went to any cool dinner parties (her parents hardly let her party anywhere when she was younger), but she’s determined to string together a girl’s night soon. Also, Finnick loves cooking fancy meals for them. Maybe she’ll whip this ensemble out one night.
Since she still has a ton of seafoam green tulle left over, she grabs a fistful of the stuff and picks out the thinnest tendril she can find. She twists it into a bow and sticks it onto her glove. She adds a pearl to the center.
She surveys her creation: a miniskirt and matching crop top with lacy and sparkly detailing. Gloves that would give the president himself a run for his money. And she could even use a combination of the tulle and cape for some lace-up stockings.
That’s a perfect idea. Sunshine floods into her room by the time she’s finally finished. That’s her cue to finally get to sleep, but she’s relieved Finnick finds her and gently coaxes her awake before she has a nightmare. As her boyfriend, she is pleased to report that he knows how to treat her—even all her unconscious desires.
He grins at her as soon as she opens her eyes. He grins even harder when she shows him her outfit, even though she knows her ramblings are still sticky and sluggish with sleep.
“That is so fucking cool, Annie. You’re so fucking cool. Seriously.”
She thanks him with a kiss and an equally enthusiastic compliment, but he expresses the extent of his awe after breakfast. He constructs a makeshift stage out of their couch cushions and uses their curtains to frame the scene. Annie’s family and Mags gather around and watch him get theatrical. Annie hides a giggle behind her palm.
“For one night and one night only, I present to you the one and only Annie Cresta.”
He yanks the curtain back in one swift flourish. Annie strikes a pose.
#annie cresta#annie cresta week#haha sorry i know this was a LOT of fashion#and i feel like that's only interesting to read about if you already like that stuff#also im very sorry if these diys read as blasphemous im basing this off my very limited sewing knowlege + mia mapes + other people on my fy#*maples & *diy#that are certified diy-ers#but hopefully the diys are all plausible/doable. i wasn't so sure about that lace detail for the bustier but i dont think its that deep tbh#also hopefully the odesta moment didn't take away from the annie-ness of the story

My Glow Up Game

Lately I haven't been feeling really inspired about my journey to becoming her so I decided to revisit and rework it. I chose several different areas that I want to work on and I only listed goals that I could achieve now or within the next month (or 2 at the most).
The areas I will be focusing on:
Skin Care - my target area will be my ENTIRE BODY 😂 but mainly focusing on hyperpigmentation, fine lines under the eyes (thank you ordinary eye serum 😒), textured skin and smaller pores. My goals will include buying products from Ulta/Sephora, doing my skincare routine 2x a day and implementing a few DIY treatments like a turmeric mask.
Grooming - major focus will be on hair removal and nails. for hair removal i will be switching to waxing and sugaring. the goal is to start visiting a sugaring salon for certain areas of my body that's more difficult for me to wax (like underarms). for everything else, i will be doing waxing at home.
for nails, i was doing polygel but i'm over it lol. i'm tempted to start going to the salon for this as well but all the salons i've found in my city are those cookie cutter type salons (ya'll know what i'm talking about) that charge $100+ for thick nails (that's apparently still trending here) and the quality of the work - i can almost match it so i don't find it worth the price. instead i'm going to go all in with gel-x (i've played around with it and brought a few things on amazon to try it out) but i'm gonna level up and get some items from NKK and Erica's ATA drill bits.

Natural Hair/Extensions - focusing on growing out my natural hair (and making it healthier) to prepare it for either micro weft or i-link extensions. the goal here is simple: buy products and create a hair care routine.
Wardrobe - i'm splitting my wardrobe goals into several parts because i have to build an entire wardrobe. but i'm going to start with sleepwear, lingerie and loungewear, plus a few casual summertime pieces.
Bedroom Decor - if you've read my recent posts, you already know that i'm not happy with the state of my bedroom but i've decided not to do too much to it because it's not worth the investment. i do plan on buying a few bedding sets and a few inexpensive furniture pieces (like a nightstand). i also will start buying (or being gifted) flowers to place in my bedroom as well.
Beauty - purchasing basic makeup and essentials along with mini perfumes until i discover my staple fragrances.

Healthy Food - starting off simple with buying juices (especially green juices), fruits and veggies, eating salads, and healthy frozen meals.
Exercise - focusing on lower body workouts, improving flexibility, continuing pilates, buying cute workout fits.
Courtesan/Hypergamy - i didn't quite know what to call this area of focus but it will consist of listening to affirmations that fit the theme of being spoiled, attracting high value men, etc. also reading books on seduction, bdsm, etc and of course, practicing these techniques on men [online]- specifically receiving gifts and money from them.
Intellect - reading 1 book or 1 workbook (like the vocabulary book i'm currently going through). i already listen to the news so i'm pretty much on top of current events.
And last but certainly not least, keeping God first throughout all of this. 🙏🏾
and if sounds as if i'm basically rebuilding my life, that's because i am.

[Album of the day] Various Artists - HDK 151 † Hell Night
Milan, ITA // 2023 // Heimat Der Katastrophe (HDK)
[Genres] dungeon synth, synth rock, prog rock, doom metal
[Themes] Hell's generals have escaped onto the material plane and you're a biker who has to track them down and drag them back, one by one
[FFO] indie RPGs, liturgical metal, Lingua Ignota
[Thoughts] This is the first album I've picked from the label HDK, an independent group of synth-loving Italians. Quoth their Bandcamp page: "DIY label focused on ambient punk, minimal-synth, dungeon-drone, wartime music and post-nuclear wave. Managed by a creative punx collective from Milano city."
As a fan of dungeon synth, I think HDK is grand. Most of their releases can be split into about three categories:
Old-school, fantasy dungeon synth (e.g. Kobold, Gnoll). Great music for classic TTRPGs. If you purchase the cassette release, you'll typically get a mini dungeon map and a scenario for any old-school RPG.
Cinematic synth music in the Italian tradition. Think Claudio Simonetti's Goblin, films like The Long Good Friday and Tenebre, bands like Zombi. Check out TEETH OF GLASS and A. RALLA.
Cold-War synth/signalwave, typically with a focus on the atomic era (i.e. sovietwave).* Conceptually interesting and a little underrated. I'd recommend RNLT and TSAR-BOMB.
Other frequent features in the HDK catalogue are proggy synth rock (e.g. POLONIUS), space rock (e.g. LOGIC GATE), and synthwave (e.g. MAX ROGUISH). HDK also has several official soundtracks to indie RPGs, most famously GNOLL's soundtrack to MÖRK BORG and CASIOTOMB's soundtrack to ALTNYC88.
Today's album is an official soundtrack to the indie RPG of the same name, Hell Night by Gavriel Quiroga (link to the DriveThru RPG page below). I haven't played the game,** but I have listened to this soundtrack about a dozen times. I love it. It's a compilation album but feels very proggy; all the tracks are from different artists and different musical styles, but they fit together really well.
Give the album a listen, try out the game, and check out HDK's other releases. I subscribed to their label on Bandcamp a while back, and I haven't regretted it.

[From the band/label]
"As these last words were spoken, an explosion of blinding white light filled the black palace, cowing even the grim death lords. The angelic messenger was gone, the message delivered, and outrage soon broke among the ranks of the defiled, cacophony of blasphemy and cursing that announced the arrival of dusk and the beginning of a... Here is the official soundtrack of the Role-Playing Game HELL NIGHT, by the author Gavriel Quiroga that you may have already known for NEUROCITY and WARPLAND. Do Mini Splits Bring in Fresh Air from Outside?

Mini splits enhance your home in various ways, from providing a more eco-friendly heating and cooling method to maximizing comfort levels. Their myriad of benefits makes them some of the most popular HVAC systems to invest in and install. They work for your home and a range of spaces spanning from apartments and office buildings to storage units and RVs. However, can mini split systems bring fresh air into your home?
Do Air Conditioners Bring in Fresh Air From Outside?
As the weather outside starts to heat up, you’re thinking about all the fun summer activities. If you’re like most people, a necessary part of summer is having a nice, cool air-conditioned home. While you may know how to turn on your air conditioner, there may be many questions that you have about how it works.
A common question that people have about air conditioners is if they take in fresh air from outside. The simple answer is that they don’t. You do have outside components to your air conditioning system. But, there is no direct opening for air from the outside to enter your home. The air that you feel coming out of the vents inside of your home is air that was already inside of your home. That existing air has recirculated throughout your AC system.
How Mini Splits Improve Air Quality?
So if mini splits aren’t ventilating fresh air, how do they improve your indoor air quality? All mini splits contain a filer in the AC unit. The AC’s filters trap any impurities in the air collected as the system takes in the room’s heat energy and releases the hot or cold air back into the room. On top of using filters, adding additional air purifiers like UV disinfection further improves and refines your air quality.
How To Get Fresh Air Into Your Home
Breathing in fresh air provides many benefits, especially to your mental well-being, such as improved mental clarity and stimulated positive emotions. Opening your doors and windows allows the outdoor air to circulate through your space, providing you with some of the perks of spending time outdoors. However, keep in mind that fresh air can also bring in pollen, pollutants, and other irritants.
Although mini split systems can’t bring fresh air into your home, they still provide you with cleaner and improved air quality on top of their long list of other advantages. Whether you install a classic wall mount or ductless air conditioning roof mount, equipping your space with a mini split system ensures you receive maximum comfort. You get ideal room temperatures and minimal allergens and toxins in the air. The natural fresh air comes from outside, and the mini splits provide indoor comfort and temperature control.
