hi i was curious what fic you were refering to in your minato/akechi art :>??
It's a fic i've been writing on and off for a year now but i havent posted it anywhere yet haha.... unless?
In summary: It's about Akechi finding new work at a company called R.E.I (reliable, experienced, innovative) where Minato is the CEO (and widower) with a child Akechi comes to know as Rei (yep Minato named the company after his daughter). The fic focuses on all 3 influencing each other and helping each other cope/grow from their traumas but is also my biggest excuse to write cute scenes where Akechi gets to have an adopted daughter and be the dad he never got to be (he's terrible at it). If you're wondering "why would Minato hire Akechi" then don't worry. He has a very good reason. Minato hired Akechi because Akechi gave him shitty customer service and Minato took one look at him and said "I can adjust his attitude." now Akechi works for Minato bc he's an idiot. Most the fic is also me writing them comedically stupid and sad and very stupid. Oh, and I guess they kiss maybe. But really it's about broken people building a family w/o knowing. I made the fic as a joke and that's why it can't be named anything other than "Is it wrong to hit on my boss?" I've made a ton of art for it (some which I guess i've already posted alluding to the fic). I did make a cover sketch for it tho! There's a bunch of foreshadowing in the items on display (but it's too sketchy to make out I'm sure).
The 100k part of this fic is already up on patreon but I'm writing/editing the other 100K. So like, uh... 200+ pages of text and 29 chapters so far. In theory, the fic is already finished/has an ending, but I just need to fill in the gaps and tie plot points together.
If you're interested, I'll add the prelude/first chapter below the cut lmfao. It pretty much sets up the premise as tightly as possible in under 2K words. It has not been edited at all so take this abhorrently constructed first draft with no shame. You can judge my noodle words all you want but remember if you say a mean thing I will die.
Title: Is it wrong to hit on my boss?
Pair: Minake
Ch 1: That's not how this was supposed to go.
10 AM on the dot, to no one's surprise, he was flawlessly punctual as usual. Today was too important for missteps, and Akechi had carefully calculated each and every word he was going to use to land this job opportunity with one of Japan's biggest corporations in web development and online advertisement. Having worked at a low paying job for the most part (one with a boss that relentlessly attacked him and tried to convince him that he would amount to nothing, no less) didn’t prepare him for the call he received from R.E.I's founder about a new job opportunity.
Cocky with confidence, he quit his job before the interview.
After all, if this founder somehow went out of his way to request him, he must have done so with good reason.
With his hair tied back neatly into a ponytail and his shirt tucked beneath a more-than-a-little expensive looking business suit, he walked into the lobby, checked in, and got told to take the elevator up to the 3rd floor. He cocked his head curiously at the attendant before turning his gaze towards the elevator. Next to the elevator was a fire extinguisher for emergencies, and a metal plate outlining over 100 floors for the building. Naturally, there had to be some mistake. Floor 1 was considered the lobby, floor 2 was a storage for supplies and spare parts, and floor 3 was where their call center started. Their web developers were a fair bit higher up in the company, which made his directions only more confusing. What was a web developer supposed to do at a call center? While the thought of not having to fake a smile over the phone was comforting, the very image of having to do customer support 7 hours a day for the rest of his life put the fear of God in him.
"Pardon my rudeness, but there m-" Must be some mistake. The old lady at the counter was one step ahead of him and delivered her message with a sharp tone that left Akechi speechless.
"The founder's office is on the third floor," she interrupted her sentence with a huff, "-treat yourself to the coffee upstairs, you're gonna need it." and punctuated it with a dismissive wave of her hand. If more people hadn't entered the building and tried to take care of their own business, Akechi would have asked her to elaborate. But since he now for sure knew he was going to meet the founder, he decided not to make a scene.
"I… see. Thank you for the offer, but I must decline. I'm sure everything will go smoothly." But if they put him in a call center to provide customer support around the clock he was prepared to personally wire that black coffee maker into a homemade bomb and take down the whole building with him. While that thought crossed his mind, he smiled politely at the woman and took the elevator ride up.
Never in his life had he been so confused by a layout. He was aware of the building's size, but this was beyond ridiculous. The hallways almost looked like a maze, with paintings scribbled from wall to wall. Upon closer inspection, they looked like kids drawings. Either this was part of some PR stunt, or the founder was really into bright neon colors. If Akechi didn't hear the man on the other line himself and came here looking for a job, he'd expect to find a kindergarten at the other side of the many doors down the hall. His confidence was dwindling more and more with each step.
Once he reached the door he assumed would take him into the workplace where the founder was seated, he grasped at the handle only to find it locked. He blinked, and twisted the doorknob again, hoping it would open the door. When it didn't, he pulled a little harder until he heard a click from the other side, and noticed that the plate beneath the handle had the word "push" written in caps. Without thinking, he put far too much swing into his movement, and ended up smacking the poor sap on the other side that kindly unlocked the door for him, and the man's coffee poured right onto his suit and onto the floor in a loud mess.
"Ah, sorry!" He would have stayed and apologized properly if he wasn't at risk of running late. "If you give me a minute, I'll be right back and help you clean up!" and he was gone. He could have stayed and helped but chose to prioritize the meeting. In the end, that guy was out one cup of coffee and still had a stable income, whereas missing out on this interview might cost Akechi not only his career, but his livelihood. If this went south, he could wind up homeless. Unless he begged for his old job back.
No, the chill of winter would be less humiliating than going back on his hands and knees to the boss that not only demeaned him, but continuously plagiarized his work for his own benefit.
"Hewoo," In the midst of his early mid-twenties crisis, a soft voice spoke to him, but the only people he spotted were already head-deep in work. Another faint cry, this one, a bit more shy.
"Heo…" he turned his head down, and spotted a tiny girl hiding beneath a desk with her fist against her lips and her knees up to her chest. She looked about four years old, short curly hair with a clip-on to keep her bangs out of her eyes. Really, if she hadn't called out to him, he never would have spotted her in those shadows. He stared at her stupidly before turning his head up and asking if anyone brought their daughter to work. The girl shushed him, and got his attention once again.
"M, hidin…"
"Ah," It was too early for a break, but he supposed someone might have taken some time off to call a responsible adult to come pick up their child from work. Still, he couldn't help but smile and crouch next to her, putting one finger over his lips with a whisper. "It's ok, I won't tell anyone." The little girl smiled so wide she was practically squinting.
"Who r u…" He cocked his head slightly. Did she know most of the people on this floor? She spoke as if she knew he was a stranger. He shrugged it off. That can't be right. Must have been childish curiosity.
"I'm Akechi Goro, and you?"
"Ake...ak...e...Aket…" She struggled and fumbled over her words, before she furrowed her brows with confidence and looked upset she couldn't yet pronounce his name.
"Gowo." He couldn't hold back a smile, and the little girl, now forgetting she's supposed to be hiding, shouts at him.
"Don't laff! That's mean!"
"Sorry!" His words said sorry, but his smile told her differently. At least, until his phone began beeping. It was now exactly 10 am.
"Sh-!" Too much in a hurry, he rushed to stand up quickly, and banged the back of his head against the table. He fell to his knees again, pushed down by the tabletop, and grabbed the back of his neck. The little girl, to no fault of her own, laughed at him without a shred of sympathy. Before he could get up on his feet, an arm patted him on the back.
"Hey, you ok?" He couldn't tell with his eyes closed, but the little girl mimicked the man's movements and reached her tiny hand out to pat Akechi's knee as if to comfort him. Before he could respond, he heard the man say "There you are!" followed by a tiny high pitched scream that honest to God was only giving Akechi a headache.
Still better than his old job, despite the abuse and trauma he's had to endure thus far.
When he opened his eyes, he saw the man that he accidentally slammed into squishing the little girl's cheeks, possibly as punishment.
"What did I tell you? You can't win."
"Mmmrmmmrrrr"
"Do you give up?" The child stubbornly stared him in the eye and only repeated her mumbling louder. The man sighed, but with the hint of a smile.
"Alright, go hide again." The joy in that little girl's eyes could part the skies on a cloudy day. She beamed and quickly ran off to hide elsewhere while the man covered his eyes and began counting. As soon as she was gone and he no longer heard the tip tap of feet, he got up and extended his hand towards Akechi.
"You look lost. Do you need any help?" This was humiliating. A kid laughing at him, he could handle, but a future coworker extending him his aid this early in their partnership was shameful. Especially since this was the same guy he left high and dry just moments ago.
"No, no, I'll be alr-" His voice was now much less sympathetic.
"Just take my hand." So much for debate. He didn't appreciate how everyone in this company cut him off mid-sentence, but took the other man's hand to get back up on his feet. As soon as he did, he got looked over rather thoroughly, a little too intensely to his liking.
"Doesn't look like you're bleeding, but if you're feeling dizzy, there's a nurse just two doors down to the left. She can examine you in case you've suffered any severe damage." His concern was flattering but unnecessary and sadly a waste of time.
"Haha, no worries. Actually... I need to get to the founder's office. Do you know where that is?"
"Yes, but I wouldn't worry about t- Rei, don't climb the bookshelf! Junpei, will you-"
"Aye, aye, boss! Come here you trouble bunny! How about you hop hop into bed and take a long looong nap? Man, uncle Junpei could use one too. I'll show you how it's done, like a pro!"
"Iori, sleep on the job and you're fired."
"Come on Philei, your dad is scary when he's talking to people that are not you!"
So much happened in the span of just a couple of seconds.
"...Rei?" He felt his blood run cold. "Her name is… Rei?" The man, somewhat confused that he was still standing there with a dumb look on his face, spoke as if this was basic knowledge Akechi should have known before stepping into the building.
"Of course, that's my daughter," he holds out his hand again, this time, expecting Akechi to shake it. "-and I'm the founder, Minato Arisato. And you are?"
Absolutely screwed.

Dating Eren Jaeger will always be considered the most beautiful moment of your life.
Every breakthrough you made is witnessed by those iridescent jade irises way before you two established your relationship. When you were picked as a participant in an art exhibit, he watched you from across the huge venue while Mikasa and Armin walked to where your painting is, envious of them as they exchanged pleasantries with you as if it wasn't nerve-wracking to do. He remembered you beckoning him to join the little huddle. When you received an e-mail from your dream university during your study session with him in the library, he was ecstatic to let you know he got accepted into the same college as well. When you got great marks in your subjects during uni, he was the first to know about it, which led to your first physical contact with him --- hugging him out of the blue. When your friend group graduated with large smiles and hearty laughs, Eren pulled you away from the others to ask you to move in with him a year in your relationship.
It's a dream come true for both of you, especially for Eren.
Eren feels so lucky that he's the one you picked among the many people who expressed their feelings for you.
All his years of watching from afar, pining with hearts shooting from his eyes, you saw him in a different light during sophomore year. You were just rejected by your first crush in college, with your confession coming out in a rush to save yourself from deep infatuation. Eren was waiting for you outside of your department building to eat dinner together and it alarmed him when you came out of the building with a dejected look on your face. He always knew where your affections lie but he took the role of the one comforting you whenever you feel like shit just thinking about your crush if Mikasa didn't already take that position when you started rooming with her. It wasn't a surprise for you to find him walking towards you with a troubled yet worried face but your breath was taken away when he told you in a determined tone,
"Fall in love with me instead."
The rest is history --- Eren taking up every space in your huge heart, claiming the chambers as his own, and infesting the walls with deep-rooted flowers.
Waking up to your kisses has always been Eren's favorite alarm clock.
Yesterday proved to be one of the most hectic days working under Levi in Ackerman Corporation. There was an impromptu meeting with Erwin Smith's company, Levi's best friend and business partner, that made Eren want to pull his hair out. Being Levi's assistant, his desk and company computer were always filled with paperwork that needed meticulous wording and editing because Levi wanted everything to be perfect (fucking midget). But that surprise meeting doubled his load by a ton until he started doing overtime for the first time in his life. Even driving towards his home, Eren could feel his eyes burning with exhaustion. His fatigue dissipated the moment his car entered his garage, the two-story house like a beacon in his tiring day. As he was opening the attached door to the house, Eren was sluggishly loosening his tie when he saw you sitting comfortably on the couch. Warmth overflowed his chest at the sight of something beautiful welcoming him home.
Everything becomes a blur at that point. All he remembers are your hands gently massaging his shoulders, trailing your figures over his skin, and slowly pulling him towards your bedroom upstairs. He remembers snuggling into your scent, arms hugging you tightly close to him as your heartbeat mingled with his in a synchronous song. It's a dreamless sleep until he feels the very same lips he loves tasting over every inch of his skin.
The small trail started on his forehead, fingertips ever so softly running over his baby hairs and through his unbound sepia locks. Daisies are bursting through the seams of his skin where your lips are pressing on. Eren feels so at ease yet with an accelerating heartbeat, he anticipates the most affectionate of kisses pressing stars and petals on his collarbone. His eyes are still closed, letting you be Antheia as you travel your soft slips on his neck. It took his whole restraint to not hum in satisfaction when you make the most beautiful scarlet blossoms appear on his skin, with the exception of his arm pulling you over his chest, his fingers drifting to the exposed skin of your waist. Eren unconsciously nuzzles his face on your hair, inhaling that saccharine scent of apples coming from your shampoo. Your chuckles are like a song for him, accompanying your kisses that reach his jaw, his defined cheeks, the corners of his lips, his eyelids.
Every part of his skin that your lips claim, sends Eren to utmost euphoria.
Then, your lips descend on his in the most innocent kiss he ever received.
Like grazing his lips against a red rose, Eren smiles a little at the sensation, not caring if he surprises you by kissing you back. He slants his lips, capturing you in a breathtaking dance. The kiss feels so right and like a god aching for his bride, Eren starts pouring everything into the kiss --- the gentleness he has for you and the adoration that acts like second nature with everything you do. The promise of having his mornings like these makes him hungrier for you, the kiss becomes bolder with occasional contented hums coloring the room with all the colors in the spectrum. Eren slips his fingers under the large shirt (probably his, his brain and heart swoon for a moment) you wear, caressing his thumb over your skin akin to the way you nibbled on his earlier.
You fit so well, he marvels and makes him smile through the kiss. Your honeyed sighs reach his ears while his hand trails a path towards your chest. When his hand makes contact with your breast, you pull away for a moment to let out a blissful sigh as fingers circle one of your sensitive spots that send a wave of warmth throughout your body. Like someone seeing a mirage, Eren follows your lips and creates an oasis that is another kiss. He tastes you on his tongue, the deeper contact making your hips brush against the growing effect you have on him, Eren's groan eliciting a pretty shade of heat on your cheeks. Breaking from the kiss that lasted for an eternity, Eren's pants intermingled with yours, with your forehead placed on his to catch your breath. He never opens his eyes as if he's still reliving the recent moments in his mind but once he does, his breath hitches at the sight of you smiling above him.
"Hi," you greet him with a beautiful smile that illuminates the room, the sunrise's golden rays in your hair making you shine more in his eyes.
God, you are so fucking gorgeous. His heart is stuttering because of the thought, with you looking down at him with a heart-stopping smile that he doesn't deserve. Great, now he's getting emotional.
Eren flashes a lovesick grin. "Hey, angel."
"I was supposed to wake you up but you have different things in mind, huh?" you grin. "I'm not complaining, though." You shrug, your laughs mixing with his. "But if you don't want a cold breakfast, you better get up, Jaeger. I mean it."
"I couldn't resist." Eren's hands rub on your waists, a half-smile pulling on his lips. He pouts underneath you, eyes making themselves bigger in an attempt to flash the puppy eyes you adore on animals. "Just one more kiss? For your amazing, handsome boyfriend who loves you so much that he's willing to be down bad all his life for you? Please, baby?"
"You're acting like a baby right now."
"I'm your baby, [Name], so come give these lips another kiss."
You roll your eyes playfully. "Oh, alright." You quickly peck his lips but before you can sit up, his large palm captures the back of your neck to gently push your face towards his. You let yourself melt in the kiss, shuddering slightly when he threads his fingers on your scalp. With a shiny string connecting you two for a second, you stare at each other when you part. You kiss him one last time on the tip of his nose, giggling when he scrambles to catch you as you stand up from the bed, footsteps light as you exit the bedroom. "Hurry up, Jaeger! Your breakfast is waiting!"
Eren laughs to himself in a daze, the taste of your chapstick lingering on his lips. His heart is singing because you're painting constellations on him, new ones that he never knew, all because of your love for him. And as he sits on your shared bed, his emerald irises flickers on the nightstand's first drawer, wherein a star-like gem is waiting to be inserted on your ring finger in a planned dinner (courtesy of Armin, Mikasa, and Sasha) --- to finally answer Eren's wishes of you walking towards him with a white train under a canopy of wisteria trees that encapsulates his affections for you.
Infinite as the stars and luminaries of the cosmos.

Book asks: 5, 6, 17
5) What genre did you read the most of?
Oh gosh, honestly I'm not even sure. Fantasy, maybe? I more read by category than genre this year, seeking out books that had subject matter or other categorization terms that I liked: magic/witches, queer rep, I love a good YA or middle grade book haha (don't judge). A lot of novels for sure
6) Was there anything you meant to read, but never got to?
Short answer: always haha!
Longer answer:
Sex and the Slayer: A Gender Studies Primer for the Buffy Fan by Lorna Jowett (Because I am a NERD)
Both Can Be True by Jules Machias
For various reasons I haven't read a ton of books with queer rep until this year, and this is the first book I've stumbled upon that seems to have a genderfluid character and I am so excited!!! I haven't seen myself represented in media yet - probably due to my own lack of access to it cause I'm sure there's more than this one book - but I cannot wait to read about another genderfluid human and will definitely be searching for more books with genderfluid characters in the future!
So. Many. Plays. Every year the list of plays I need to read grows so much. It's hard to keep up with current plays and new releases and stuff as a theatre nerd, they don't really work like books. Bootlegs of plays are way less common than musicals, online PDF's can only be found sometimes and even then you sometimes get old drafts or incorrect versions, and Actor's Editions of a script (which is the kind you want, trust me) can be expensive if not just completely impossible to acquire while the play is currently running. Did you know that oftentimes the published version of a script will contain info from the stage manager's show bible from the first ever staged production? (You didn't ask for ANY of this but I've worked as a stage manager, lighting designer, electrician, fight choreographer, etc. in theatre and my excitement to talk about the things I love cannot be contained!!!)
17) Did any books surprise you with how good they were?
The Fifth Season by N. K. Jemisin (I read it for a book club and honestly thought I disliked most sci-fi until this and boy was I wrong I was just picking up all the wrong stuff I guess and will definitely be reading more in the future after I finish all of N. K. Jemisin's stuff)
Thank you so much for asking!!

@onmywaytobe #this btw is why anything past a first draft is so intimidating#however I do think I’m decent at planning out the development ahead of time?? idk#i hate the idea of a second draft or third draft#i hate the idea of rewriting unless it’s really bad#the last couple steps are fine I’m good at line editing and copy editing#but the development is what’s so intimidating to me
@froggyfroo #incredibly based post#this is fenuinely something ive been struggling with - I've never really got past a first draft before#even tho for a few of my written eorks I'd rly like to - i feel like Idk anything about writing sometimes so this is i valuable to
You guys are SO valid haha developmental editing is also the bane of my existence. My advice, which you can take as you want (or not at all), is to seek out a betareader and/or do things step-by-step.
Finding a betareader is difficult in itself, but once you do, simply tell them you need developmental editing, that you want to look at the story as a whole and ask them specific questions relating to that goal. Does the plot progress too slow? Too fast? Does it make sense? Is the trajectory building in a satisfying way? Etc. Then wait for their feedback and use it to inform your own opinions and decisions. If you vehemently disagree with something, then you know you disagree and whatever they wanted to change you prefer to leave the same! Even that alone is invaluable help, because otherwise you might have not been able to form an opinion at all and/or waffled back and forth about it for ages. More betareaders are better, of course, but sometimes you gotta take what you get. Ideally, your betareader is not a family member or friend. They cannot be trusted to give you the full and unfiltered truth. Find a stranger. There are forums on Goodreads and Reddit dedicated to seeking out a beta, and surely you can put out feelers on Tumblr for betareaders as well.
Step-by-step is admittedly more complicated, I hope to compile an "editing masterlist" of sorts that's basically a checklist of the entire editing process but as I have yet to do that, here's my simplified (coughItriedtomakeitsimpleokaycough) break down of the stages of development editing: 1. Scan through your manuscript and create an outline. Whether this is just writing the chapters and the most important plot point in that chapter, or more in-depth summary of each scene is up to you. This allows you to look at your story as a whole with a quick(ish) glance. Even if you have an outline from before you started writing, it's best to pretend that one doesn't exist and make a new one off the manuscript to be sure it accurately represents it. Now you can track plot progression, see if there are stale chapters or scenes (or unnecessary ones), make sure the plot builds in a natural and satisfying way, etc. There are a ton of different frameworks you can compare and contrast against (like the most famous "Hero's Journey"), so you can certainly look for specific beats of such tried-and-true formats and conform your story accordingly. Personally, I don't think perfectly matching the cookie-cutter molds is necessary for a good story. If you feel confident enough in your own criteria, judge it by that! 2. Do the same thing, except with your important characters' arcs. Again, it's up to you to decide what the important characters are, it doesn't have to just be the protagonist(s) if there are involved side characters, and antagonists can get in on this too. This should be a different outline from the first, and each character should get their own. Really what you want from this is to track the progression of your characters (upward or downward) and see how it lays out. Is there a sudden change too soon or too early? Is the change justified with an inciting incident? Does the arc make sense? Are you satisfied with how the character changes, and who they end up being by the end? Look specifically at: motivations, internal and external goals (I want to be the best warrior vs. I want to save the world), biases, attitude/behavior, virtues, and flaws. Not all of these need to change, and what does change doesn't necessarily have to change drastically. It's up to you. But if the character is important, it's generally good storytelling for something to change in them, for the consequences of the story to have had some kind of effect on them. Keep in mind, an upward character arc generally takes flaws and improves them or turns them into virtues (e.g., an angry, bitter character becoming confident and resolute) and a downward character arc generally takes virtues and turns them into flaws (e.g., an extremely loyal and law-conscious person becoming ruthless and cruel in order to maintain their loyalty and the order of law). Again, this isn't OBLIGATORY, as nothing is in writing, you're allowed to do whatever the heck you want!
3. Consider the changes you want to make. Do this whatever way suits you best. If brainstorming/daydreaming is best for you, then go for it! If you like writing things down, do that. If you need to brainstorm and bounce ideas off another person, find someone to help! Unlike a betareader, this can be a trusted friend, because you might not necessarily need harsh truths, but only a fresh or second pair of eyes.
4. Once you've figured out what you might want to change, add, rearrange, or delete, get back to writing and implementing those edits!
If anyone else has any advice or ideas, feel free to chime in! I am by no means the authority on this, because, as I said, I also hate developmental editing lol.
