Former WWE Divas champion Eve Torres stars as the chief enforcer for the Russian gang and is involved in a number of action scenes including some fight scenes opposite martial arts legend Jackie Chan.

The thief is is portrayed by Johnny Knoxville who has made a number rof WWE appearances most notably his Jackass inspired Anything Goes match against Sami Zayn at Wrestlemania 38.

Alright.

I'm rambling about how it feels as if the show is throwing out the theme of humanity and choice and how there aren't any 'chosen ones' but that it's all what humans do that shapes things for better or worse, in favor of, well, making Crowley the kind of 'center of the universe' VIP. The kind for whom the universe bends over backwards.

We had this in SPN or BBC's sherlock, and even DW, starting pretty much with 'Silence in the Library': where the maincharacter, no matter how much suffering they cause and go through, it's ultimately only their actions that matter and what they say goes.

In the book Crowley is a nobody. Serpent of Eden, sure, but in the grand scheme he is nothing but an unimportant field-agent. The story is set into motion because of various people making decisions that seemed right to them.

On the show it felt, to me, rather as if there's an undertone of 'if Crowley had not done x to influence/steer a decision'. I'm not good with explaining this well, I fear, but let me try:

In the book, Crowley hand other the basket to Sister Mary in a 'your problem now' way and hightails it. The mix-up happens because of a genuine misunderstanding.

On the show we have crowley be all 'bring this to room 3' or whatever it was, as if Sister Mary would NEVER had gotten things mixed up or anything without Crowley telling her to bring the basket to the wrong room (which is also leaving a bit of a sour taste what with the whole 'lets go over the plan' bit before, feeling as if the show made Sister Mary to be out a LOT dumber than she ever was in the book.)

Another example, s1 again, is the bit on the airfield. Not the handholding, but the bit after Beelzebub says 'it is written'. In the book this leads to a wonderful doubleact of Crowley and Az, having these two little shits run circles around their superiors, shwoing how great a chemistry the have. One the show, which supposedly is meant to explore their relationship etc more? It's all crowley. Sure, az gives the get go, but the double-act has been changed in favor of crowley getting the spotlight. Same just moments later: It's crowley stopping time, telling adam what to do etc. Nothing of the chemistry between crowley and az from the book, no 'what have you got to lose' and them standing up against satan, while adam just casually saves the day without needing crowley or anyone to tell him.

And it continues. the show has this whole undertone of 'crowley is in the right' 'crowley did nothing wrong' 'crowley did all these things, and even if they appear bad, he actually really did a good'. Now they went and added a 'he did this for/because az' with this undertone of 'if not for these two, humanity would never get anything done, and it's really only crowley because he inspires az/az is so infuatuated' This is what it feels like, and it just leaves a sour taste.

Hope that makes sense.

With how the show makes Crowley out to be some sort of 'chosen one' (in the worst superwholock-esq kind of sense of that too) I'd not be surprised if, if we have to endure a s3, there will be flashback scenes like, 'Oh it was Crowley sending a lamb to rescue Isaac' or 'Oh, actually Crowley interpreted Joseph's dreams' or any other such 'oh, crowley is directly responsible for all the great things in human history, because humans couldn't get anything of worth done on their own cause they are too dumb and vile, and he totally only did it to impress Az, or something.

Because that's the tone of the show since, lbr, s1.
