Been playing Monster Hunter recently and checked to see what my least-played weapon is and found out that I've played shockingly little hammer, so I spent the afternoon beating dragons to death with an exploding healing hammer :D

Okay. But you're not killing cops or firebombing government offices. one thing i love about mash is the little background things that they do. not because theyre essential to the plot or literally anything but it just helps the show and the characters feel so alive. hawkeye spraying bugspray around the tent and getting trapper in the eyes has absolutely nothing to do with the scene or the topic of conversation its not even integral to the episode its just something theyre doing in the middle of everything else happening because they have to. hawkeye sitting in the colonel's office filing the nails of the skeleton dummy just because he's bored. trapper creating a paper clip chain on one end and hawkeye dismantling it at the other end while theyre in a meeting. theyre reading theyre painting theyre writing theyre winding up skeins of yarn theyre knitting theyre mending socks and playing chess. theyre playing football or basketball or golfing or going fishing or having cockroach races. not because these things are important but BECAUSE theyre unimportant. its what makes them human. Its what makes the sets feel lived in and not just sets. if you've got a group of characters who never do anything but talk about the scene on hand then you dont have a group of characters at all you have a group of plot devices. make them bored make them fidgety make them interact with the environment around them make them live.

I don't get why the broader fandom is so terrified of the idea of Dandy being evil (and by association moonflower, the most popular ship with him, being toxic yaoi).

Like bro even Qwel is guilty of this. It reads like those newgen types that are so deathly afraid of liking a "problematic" character that they do all these mental gymnastics to prove they're not obsessed with a fictional character that's villainous.

There's nothing in the game that proves that dumbass statement that he's "morally gray". His reserach description just says he's responsible for the ichor operation. He gets angry when you don't buy from him, tries to kill you, then taunts you after the encounter. He's implied to have coerced Astro into silence. He refuses to confront people like Vee and Sprout, who WOULD chew him out unlike Astro. He refuses to tell anyone in general what's going on.

I really feel like one of the best details in “A Scandal in Bohemia” that I never see people fixate on enough is that the story starts with Watson stopping in to see Holmes at Baker Street on a complete whim, because he happens to see that he’s home (and Watson is now married and living elsewhere). Like he doesn’t send word first, he’s not invited, he just shows up and surprises Holmes. Which is not that weird but then Holmes is like “oh good, I’ve got a case anyway, you might as well hang out!” which just makes it funnier when the King shows up and is like “I’d really rather speak to you alone, actually” and Watson tries to leave and Holmes is just like “anything you can say to me, you can say to my best friend John Watson, and if you ask him to leave, I would consider it a grave insult, you would be my enemy and I will not help you ever!!” And the king is like “…ok” and just moves on.

like, that is crazy behavior. Holmes is talking about how there’s probably lots of money in this case, and then almost turns away the client for…not knowing who the fuck Watson is?? He’s not even supposed to be there?? He just came to say hi?? “It is both or none”… girl, GET UP.
