Hmmmmm Angst with Happy Ending where Soap initiates all physical contact in your relationship and starts wondering if you're even enjoying it (+ gn!Reader who flinches at physical touch). 0.5k words.
Soundtrack: No Light, No Light - Florence + The Machine
Tumblr media
You're not used to physical touch.
It's not that no one ever touched you. But sometimes you can’t help flinching at unexpected contact. Whether you're anxious, have trauma, never been in a relationship before... In addition, your low self-esteem prevents you from touching Johnny as much as you'd like. There's always that voice nagging at the back of your mind, asking why he would even want to be embraced by you.
The first few times Soap startles you, he doesn't think much of it, believes you when you say it's nothing, or assumes it's a coincidence. You were focused on something or someone else, he took you by surprise. Then it happens. Etched into his memory. How he raised a hand towards your face and you recoiled like you thought he was going to strike you.
Once he starts to notice, he sees it everywhere, all the time. Paranoid speculations swirl in his mind. Is he being too clingy? Are you too nice to reject him? Is he pressuring you? Are you merely tolerating him?
The situation culminates to a long-overdue, embarassing, but necessary discussion about your boundaries. The complexity of swearing to him that you don’t just put up with his touch, that you adore it, and yet you can’t control your starts. That despite your relationship being official, you can’t just flick a switch and become completely comfortable with PDA overnight, like you've seen other couples do. There is a gap between what you desire and what your body allows you to do, and that rift may never be bridged.
"I'm sorry. I'm not doing it on purpose."
Arms wrapped around yourself for reassurance, you can’t even look him in the eye.
"Then you have nothing to be sorry for."
"But—"
Your protests shrivel in your throat the second you glimpse at his face. He's smiling, but his expression is tinged with sadness. He's in pain, yet he's suppressing it for your sake.
"I just want to know one thing, bonnie. Do you want me to stop? Touching you?"
"No!"
Your refusal comes out too loud, too harsh. You start again, softer.
"... No, I don't."
"Do you want me to warn you?"
“No. I mean… It would be awkward if... maybe do it in my line of sight? Or talk to me before? So I know you're there. But, more than anything, I want… to not make a big deal of it. Just act normal.”
“Got it.”
This time you dare to meet his gaze. He makes it sound so easy. But despite your reservations, when he opens his arms wide, you welcome his embrace unrestrained.
“... You don’t think I'm weird?” you hazard after a minute.
“Aw, Bonnie…” He kisses the top of your head. “I've seen soldiers with PTSD before who reacted like that. I just never dated one. I'm sorry I made it about me.”
“No, I understand how you felt. And I'm sorry I avoided talking about it.”
Closing your eyes to bask in the moment, you hug him more tightly.

Had fun making him wilder in appearance compared to lamb. Don't mind him and his sharp teeths, he don't bite (yes he do).

After Cas is rescued from the Empty and him and Dean start getting together.
Dean lets himself flirt freely but Cas still doesn't get it all the time. After another fail, Dean thinks Cas needs some teaching time.
"No wonder you thought you couldn't have me." Dean mumbles to himself as he drags Cas to the library. "Sit there." And Cas obliges while he watches Dean disappear in another part of the room. A few seconds later, he comes back with a pile of books in his hands.
"I've read those." Cas says.
"You've read Chuck's books?" Dean asks, surprised.
"Not really, Metatron did and gave me the cultural knowledge of everything he read or watched." Cas explains.
"Great, it'll be faster then." Dean answers, sitting next to Cas. He opens a book and looks for a specific page, definitely focused considering he's wearing his serious face. "There!" He points at a sentence. "Read this."
"That's what you told me when you discovered I was a virgin." Cas realizes. He remembers those simple times when he just wanted revenge on Raphael.
"Yes, read it again!" Dean insists. Cas is confused but does as told. Then he looks up at Dean, puzzled. "Cas, come on. You don't see it?"
"I'm not sure what you're referring to, Dean." Cas remarks.
"I was flirting with you here. Come on, it's so obvious. There's hundreds of examples like that in those." Dean says, tapping on the pile of books. "Also not in those. Like the mixtape and - and me worrying about you all the time." Dean feels his cheeks turn a slight shade of pink, as he notices the way Cas is looking at him. "What?" Dean asks, frowning at Cas smiling.
"Thank you, Dean." Cas says, gaze tender and his hand touching Dean's softly.
"For what?" Dean wonders, his cheeks more pink now.
"For showing me how you flirt with me." Cas shifts on his chair and leans closer to Dean.
"Ain't nothing." Dean replies, pressing Cas's hand in his. After a moment, he adds, "Cas, you know, there are two things I know for certain?"
"No, tell me." Cas replies, winking exaggeratedly. Dean rolls his eyes, but smiles anyway.
"One, Bert and Ernie are gay. Two, I'm gonna keep flirting with you. For the rest of my life." Dean states proudly. It owes him a smile back from his angel and a soft kiss on the lips.
"And I'll try to understand it." Cas replies, and Dean laughs, a full body one, before kissing Cas back.

It really is so true that you never know what someone’s going through behind closed doors. I’ve made being gentle and kind my default bc I’ve had super put together friends disclose the most harrowing time of their lives to me and it’s like oh?? You were going through that???? I would’ve never guessed

The greed team camping trip is extremely funny for obvious reasons but can you imagine how Darius and Heinkel felt interacting with Ling for the first time? Like Greed probably had something to do with their opinions 180ing from "being turned into a chimera ruined my life" to "actually, i can make the best of the body i have now" SO they probably like him. But Ling?? All they know about him is 1) he's a prince from Xing 2) he's Ed's age and 3) Ed and Greed constantly talk shit about him but in the same Weirdly Fond way so he must be an alright guy?
And then Greed hands over control to him for an hour or something and they're like. Oh Fuck this kid is a Freak with a capital F. He's chipper and silly as hell and he antagonizes Ed like a normal annoying 16 yr old but then another country is mentioned and he has in-depth knowledge of their culture and he can also speak the language fluently??? Then later he's talking to Ed about Someone and they're like, "'Lan Fan', is that your friend?" and he cheerfully responds "Oh she's my vassal, she cut her arm off for me so I'm really worried about her ahaha"

random thing i noticed while going through the character bios again: wally's bio now gives information about how his puppet was handled
Tumblr media
there isn't any kind of sneaky wording here that would imply he was operated different from the others either, as frank is described the exact same way in his bio.
Tumblr media
if it's true that wally WAS in fact puppeteered by someone and wasn't running around the studio by himself like some horrible gay homunculus, he was most likely puppeteered by ronald dorlaine, the creator of welcome home. wally is kind of the "kermit" of welcome home, and kermit was puppeteered by jim henson until his death in 1990. kermit was also referred to as henson's "alter ego" at times, his co-stars saying that it became hard to tell where kermit ended and henson started at times.
Tumblr media
i think clown's mentioned the relationship between a puppet and their puppeteers being a topic explored in welcome home at some point (one of these mentions was pre-overhaul, so i'm not sure if it's still true), and has stated that there are going to be more human characters introduced. and since welcome home takes a lot of inspiration from the history of the muppets (and is why we need more horror media written by people really autistic about the topic covered), and "dorlaine" sounds so similar to "darling", it's possible wally may have been ronald dorlaine's "alter ego" in the same way that kermit was for jim henson.
i don't what what any of this implies or if any of this makes sense. i went on this whole rant because of one line of text. is anyone reading this. did anyone see that gnome run by. its so dark in here

I feel like Lucky Day makes more sense in the context of conservatives wanting to dismantle regulatory organizations and health organizations (like the EPA, CDC, FDA, etc. in the US—I’m more familiar with US politics than British politics), rather than the context of police brutality or overmilitarization.
The fact is that there is a very real, verifiable threat that the majority of people understand is real. There are people whose job it is to deal with this threat. They are not perfect, but they are good at dealing with this threat. And then a grifter comes along claiming the threat isn’t real, and in fact this lifesaving organization is just Stealing Taxpayers Money and doing false flag operations and so on. Now is this threat climate change, pandemics…or aliens?
Here’s the thing: there are cracks. There are always cracks. UNIT is far from perfect. I’m pretty sure UNIT should not have authority to arrest those people. Kate unleashed a dangerous monster in revenge and was completely willing to let it kill a civilian (although that civilian was aiming a gun at her, it was definitely excessive and brutal).
It wouldn’t be a story if Conrad wasn’t right about something. In a small, incomplete way. If someone didn’t tell him to stand down, because he’s rocking the boat and people just want to live their comfortable lives. If he and his friends didn’t film themselves being arrested and standing up to soldiers with guns. If he didn’t walk out into UNIT and say, while recording, that that’s a lot of guns to be pointed at one man. He wouldn’t be a good villain if he didn’t have a kernel of truth and the ability to make himself seem sympathetic. Conrad’s lies are appealing because they fit with everyone’s worldview in some way. Conrad is a destroyer. And he makes you think that destruction is for a good cause—for your good cause.
So no it’s not “UNIT Good, Conrad Bad”. It’s don’t trust destroyers” and “be careful what ideas you latch onto” and “anything can be framed the way the person giving the narrative wants.” It’s “there can be two bad guys” and “just because Side A has problems doesn’t mean Side B is a hero” and “the enemy of my enemy isn’t necessarily my friend.”
I also think that perhaps there’s commentary to be made here about how anything can be couched in liberal activist language and dressed in liberal activist concepts. But that doesn’t make it right.
You look at Conrad and you see what you want to see. What you think the world is. And whatever oppressive power system you want to stand up to, he says he’s doing that. Ruby is right—it’s about power. Whoever you believe is the Evil Ruling Power, Conrad is against it. All you have to do is believe in him. Small price to pay, right?

Been thinking about Hosea a lot as I write this analysis on Dutch and Micah.
Maybe I’ll eventually whip something up about him, but for now I’m left with thoughts about knowing that not only is Hosea just as guilty as Dutch when it comes to how their boys were brought up (and continued to be treated through adulthood and ultimately up to their deaths), but also the way the two irreparably damaged John and Arthur’s entire lives beyond even their own comprehension. FURTHERMORE, they set forth a viscous cycle of familial violence and neglect that maintained momentum into the next generation. (See: John and Jack.)
The way Hosea’s action, but more importantly his inaction had in part led to… well, [gestures vaguely to RDR1 + RDR2].
Hosea might have been gentler than Dutch on the surface, but he saw it all, and at times both implicitly and explicitly encouraged it through the meticulous timing of his decisions to remain a “silent watcher.”
Yes, refusal to mitigate the violence makes him complicit, but the matter of the fact is… Hosea can’t even feign partial innocence as a third-party bystander because of how calculated he is in nature.
Additionally, there is no “third party.” Dutch and Hosea are a single unit. They occupy the same space even as two separate individuals in John and Arthur’s lives.
The deliberate nature of Hosea’s inaction puts him in the same position as the “perpetrator” because he isn’t just a watcher, he corroborates directly with Dutch and agrees with what he is doing on principle. He reenforces it in perhaps more subtle ways, but that doesn’t make him any less responsible for the outcome.
The only difference between the two is that while they’re dealing different cards, they are playing the exact same game.
#I’ve got some horrible little headcanons rattling around tbh#Dutch and Hosea have different methods and demeanours but truly are partners in crime not only in the literal sense but also are#one another's accomplice in how they raised/treat John and Arthur.#I think that Hosea gets let off the hook a little too easy and I really enjoy thinking about the implications of his behaviour on the boys#just as much as I enjoy analyzing that of Dutch.#Also??? The way that Arthur seemed to die not realizing this adds layers to it in my head. John had all that time to mull it over and think#after all that had happened with the gang throughout his life and I'm CERTAIN he did a LOT of thinking about when exactly Dutch's#true colours started to shine through over the years... so I'd say its safe to assume that he did a lot of thinking about the pair of them.#I want to know if he is capable of thinking fondly about Hosea in spite of this because he has been dead for a long time#Or does he hold a grudge against him even post-mortem? John at least got to have a conversation with Dutch and see exactly what he's become#I wonder to what extent that perfect image he had of Dutch being tainted caused him to see things clearer than#Arthur was ever given the chance?#Arthur died not knowing but I think John might have the tendency to ruminate on it in the years that followed.#I wonder what conclusions he came to about his life up until that moment while sitting alone in the aftermath.#Was he afraid? Did he even want to unpack all that? To potentially ruin every good thing he'd ever had just because Dutch went off the rail#in the end? If so... what would he have left if it turned out that nothing was ever the way it seemed?#red dead redemption 2#the curious couple and their unruly son#dutch van der linde#hosea matthews#arthur morgan#john marston#red dead meta#paisley.txt

The other day I saw something that actually made the fandom's complete lack of acknowledgement towards Megatron grooming/brainwashing Tarn make a lot of sense, which was essentially a comment that implied something along the lines of 'Tarn made himself worse.'
Which like, I guess makes sense as a justification? If you just write off Dying of the Light and Tarn's entire existence as him just "choosing" to be "worse" I guess it's easy to just blame Tarn and coddle Megatron as the victim of the whole thing.
As opposed to the actual truth of canon which is that Tarn was not always Tarn, Tarn used to be Damus, Damus was nothing like Tarn at all, and it was Megatron's direct, malicious, targeted intervention that took Damus (normal guy) and made him into Tarn (zealot freak). And that the DJD wasn't Tarn's creation, it was Megatron's creation, because Megatron not only wrote the DJD rulebook but also directly trained them (at least the initial members of the DJD, including Tarn) to be brutal, sadistic killers. And that Tarn's mental breakdown in Dying of the Light and subsequent deathhunt on Megatron was just Tarn continuing to fulfill the role Megatron assigned to him, which was to hunt down traitors to the Decepticon cause and make them pay in pain and death. In other words, that Tarn was literally carrying out the exact purpose that Megatron groomed him for, in service to the ideology that Megatron shaped to be centered entirely around ruthlessness, cruelty, and subjugation. And that everything Tarn did as an evil person was merely a logical extension of the ideology Megatron brainwashed him into carrying out, not him randomly deciding to "make himself worse" one day bc he was angy at his daddy.
But sure. I guess, from a certain, very zoomed in and granular perspective, Tarn is evil because he just chose to be that way and no one could've possibly predicted him turning on his master who reshaped his entire life to serve his will and then abandoned him. It's not like Megatron radicalized him for no reason and then built him to be a ticking time bomb or anything. No, Tarn just... decided to make himself worse. One day, for no reason at all. Mmmkay.
#squiggposting#tarnposting#like admittedly it was an offhand comment so i'm very much reading into it but it did make me go hmm#it was like. the casual disregard for the fact that tarn is the way he is for a specific reason/bc of a specific person#and it made me connect the dots to the fandom's/M stans' general lack of giving a shit about tarn and making fun of him for being a cult vi#victim* and i realized ooooooh that's why ppl find it so easy to blame and make fun of tarn and not megatron#it's bc they literally just blame tarn for everything and act like tarn IS TARN bc he just. chose to be#tarn having free will as an individual to make his own decisions doesnt negate who put him there#and like i guess i was just kind of stunned by the implication that tarn is just naturally evil/weird/gross in that particular conversation#bc tarn was an evil that was engineered in both a literal and figurative sense. by megatron personally#but now i understand why megatron stans find it so easy to just disregard that lakdsfljksdkls#it's literally just the 'well tarn couldve just chosen not to do all that shit' excuse#just ignoring the fact that yknow megatron crafted him to be a zealous vengeful asshole who hunts down any thoughtcrime and traitors#tarn didn't randomly go insane he didn't just become evil out of nowhere#the only way he 'snapped' was in nearly killing himself which was actually a mental health affliction (depression)#tarn was not insane. he was following exactly what megatron groomed and made and taught him to do which was hunt traitors#y'all are NOT gonna go out there talking about tarn like he's just some stupid little freak who just chose to be a violent weirdo

Some (usually cis) queer people absolutely refuse to acknowledge trans people. They centre cis queers in all their conversations, refuse to say "cis men" instead of "men" when talking abt oppressive cis men & patriarchy, and overall have this idea that trans people don't deserve to be considered or acknowledged, probably because they're too busy in their cis-centric world and we're nothing but a tiny inconvenient irrelevant minority to them. To a lot of trans people, inclusive language and the acknowledgment of our struggles is very important. This is our entire life. We have to put up with everyone (including queer people!!!) ignoring our existences and struggles because "most people are cis" etc etc. trans people are forced to consider ourselves in every conversation (when nobody else will) because this is our life. When you're talking about queer topics, you need to include and consider trans people because we are a huge part of queerness.

Human Nature
Word Count: 1330 Description: A sudden discussion about how humans blame demons for all their problems comes up one evening in the House of Lamentation. Turns out, demons don't like to be blamed for human nature. Characters, etc: Satan, Mammon, Leviathan, Asmodeus, MC -- with a little Asmo/MC at the end can be found on ao3 here
Tumblr media
“What is it with you humans?”
You look up from your D.D.D. with a quirked brow, turning to Satan who seems to be wearing an expression of exasperation – at least, from what you can see while his nose is buried between pages of whatever it is he’s reading.
“What are you talking about?”
The demon slowly lowers the novel, now looking rather sheepish. “Oh, sorry. I didn’t mean that in relation to you, it’s just,” He gestures to the viridian book in his grasp, “I get so tired of reading stories where humans blame demons for all of their problems.”
“Oh, don’t get me started!” Mammon butts in, still laying upside-down on one of the other sofas in the common room as he scrolls mindlessly through Akuzon on his phone, sunglasses nearly falling off his head to the floor. “Forget just humans in stories, they do that shit all the time in real-life, too!”
“Mammon, you probably have caused plenty of problems for humans.” Leviathan doesn’t even look up from his game, his fingers furiously pressing and pushing buttons with a loud click-clack-click that’s slightly maddening.
“And ya haven’t?!” The second-born nearly tosses his phone as he twists to point an accusing finger at the other. “As if ya don’t get all smug about your name bein’ all over the damn place!”
“H-Hey, it’s not my fault people are into sea monsters – oh come on!” The melody for GAME OVER. “B-but even with a good-for-nothing demon like me, humans like to create all kinds of stories and legends.”
Shifting in your seat, you look around the room in amusement. “I mean, the stories had to come from somewhere, right? A sliver of truth in every lie, and all that.”
“Sure, some of the stories have merit. Demons have influenced plenty of people, us included.” Satan shakes his head, placing the book to the side as he straightens up in his seat. “But there are humans who think any and all terrible things done by their own kind are somehow our fault.”
“Right, like I’m not responsible for every greedy human who screws others over.” Mammon shoots the third-born a glare to stop him from interrupting. “But then ya got some humans going on about bein’ influenced by the devil, or demonic possession.”
“Aww, I haven’t done a possession in so long!” Asmodeus enters the room with a rather woeful expression, dropping a shopping bag onto a table before twirling around, a gleeful grin replacing his pout. “Now, what fascinating discussion are we all having here, hm?”
“About how some humans blame demons for everything bad that happens.” You answer, resting a hand in your chin as you look at the Avatar of Lust with curiosity. “What are your feelings on that, Asmo?”
“My feelings?” He places a hand on his chest, fingers splayed over his heart as a shadow of ire falls on his features. “Ugh, I’d say that humans are totally full of themselves!”
“That’s rich coming from you, Asmo.” Satan rolls his eyes, earning an offended gasp from the fifth-born.
“But it’s natural for me, I mean who wouldn’t be if they had a chance to be me?” Asmodeus perches on the armrest of one of the sofas, one leg crossed over the other. “It’s true, though. I mean, I love playing games with some humans and all, but so much of that is in the past!”
“Asmo, you still try to pull things all the time.” Leviathan huffs, ignoring his younger brother’s sharp look. “You probably aren’t helping.”
“Excuse me, I don’t want to hear that from you, Levi. You’re the one who summons Lotan at the drop of a hat!” Asmodeus waves off the other’s protest, turning to look at you – you, who have just been sitting back and enjoying the conversation unfolding. “Us demons like to feed off all the negative energy that humans can produce, but that’s the thing – a lot of it comes from humans themselves!”
Satan hums in agreement, also fixing his gaze on you now. “For example, we all in this room can sense if you’re feeling a really strong urge in our particular sin and even contribute to it, but we’re the Avatars, and we have pacts. Your average demon out there can tempt all they want, but temptation works best on humans that already have a proclivity to the sin or act in question.”
“And a lot of the lil’ guys you see here, those real low-level demons? They’re manifestations of humans’ sins and negative energy. Meanin’ humans technically made ‘em!” Mammon is sitting up now, adjusting the sunglasses on his head as he leans on one knee. “So really, humans are to blame for those annoyin’ pests.”
“I’m not arguing that.” You nod, remembering learning some of this in classes at RAD. “Well, I’m not really arguing anything, but I didn’t realize you all felt so strongly about this.”
“Don’t get us wrong, we’re used to it. I mean, we’re demons, we have a reputation for a reason.” Leviathan shrugs, his focus going back to his console. “It’s more like a pet peeve.”
“Just like how humans think angels are all innocent and good.” Satan’s words get a round of snickers from the room. “If a human really wants to blame everything bad on us, so be it. But then they only have themselves to blame if we lean into it.”
It’s then that you remember hearing a story about Satan – a time where some human parents got angry and accused him of scaring their child, even though all he had done was return the child’s smile with his own. He ended up traumatizing the humans with his own anger, having them crying and begging on the floor for forgiveness, much to his delight.
You wonder, had those humans even believed in demons before then?
What of your own wrath? Your envy? Your greed? All of those feelings existed in you long before you came to the Devildom, and there were plenty of times you acted on them both then and now. Has it gotten worse since you’ve been here? It was hard to tell, though you did know the brothers’ got rather pleased when you did find yourself having a burst of pride, of desire. Who was feeding off of who?
“I guess,” you muse aloud, “we’re all connected a lot more than we realize.”
“That’s one way of putting it,” Satan hummed. “We just like to give humans a little push, now and then. Give them a taste of freedom, of what they want. After that, it’s really up to them what they do. If they choose the path that benefits us, well, we can’t complain.”
“Oh, what humans will do to get what they desire!” Asmodeus dramatically leans off of his perch, putting an arm around your shoulder. He gives you a rather mischievous look, lips curled into a smirk as he turns your chin towards him. “So, tell me, hon – can I tempt you into anything tonight?”
“Get your damn claws off them, Asmo!” Before you can answer, Mammon is already up on his feet and growling at the sight. “You really think you can pull that with all of us here?”
“Y-yeah, you can’t even charm them!” Leviathan voices his envy. “PDA Police!! Stop touching them!”
As the room erupts into familiar and frustrating arguments, you can’t help but feel some mischief swell in your chest – so you raise your voice.
“Why, yes, Asmo. You can tempt me to something tonight. Shall we?”
The brothers fall silent, even Asmodeus staring at you for a moment before his lips split into a fanged grin. “We most certainly shall!”
With a laugh, you find yourself running out of the room hand-in-hand with Asmodeus while the other three yell behind you.
“You little devil,” Asmodeus snickers as he pulls you along, throwing a glance your way.
With a grin, you respond:
“I’m only human.”

AU where s7!tommy is still closeted (he knows he likes men but isn't out and is struggling accepting he's gay) so when The Kiss inevitably happens, instead of checking Buck is okay and making plans for a date he freaks the fuck out ie. the fear replaces the want and he apologises and runs out of the loft before Buck can remember how words work.
#bucktommy#tommy kinard#fic fodder#evantommy#tevan kinkley firepilot#.txt#there's more: same stuff still happens ie. tommy is buck's bi awakening and boy is still smitten.. but it's angstier bc he realises#tommy isn't out n proud - but it takes him a few days to realise this bc those first few days are spent oscillating between#replaying that kiss and thinking about tommy and reassessing his attraction history.. and thinking tommy got scared he'd react badly#so that's why he ran away - he thinks tommy thinks the kiss wasn't welcome. cue buck trying to get ahold of tommy for days to tell him#not to worry! he's an ally! the kiss was great! maybe they can do it again sometime please!! ie. totally missing tommy's self loathing..#until he talks to Hen about it - he's not telling everyone about the kiss bc even he gets sometimes queer stuff is better kept on the#downlow - not for his sake but out of respect for tommy. anyway: hen is the queer exception so he tells her what happened and about his#bi awakening and how he wants to tell tommy he's not weirded out and in fact he would like more please. and Hen.. she knows. she kinda#always knew tommy was gay but currently she's realising tommy is closeted/in denial. and she has to be the one to break it to buck.#or does she? maybe she gently calms buck's enthusiasm and insists when he talks to tommy to take it easy bc he doesn't actually know what#tommy was thinking and tommy deserves to tell him without buck jumping the gun. it's a sobering conversation. and then it can go one of two#ways: either buck and tommy cross paths on a call or tommy reluctantly agrees to meet etc. OR hen has a conversation with tommy beforehand..
