Metro RP2350 take 5 🔄🌟🤞
Sometimes mistakes are made in prototyping; that's why they're prototypes. The error in rev D was funny: while making the QFN80 footprint, the pins got placed clockwise rather than widdershins. Not surprisingly, that board didn't come up at all, so here's a full rip-up and reroute, with the correct pinout this time! Fingers crossed. Hopefully, this is the final revision, and we can move on to other RP2350 boards we have cooking.

Voice Chip Technology: Enabling Appliances to "Speak" - Selection Guide and Development Examples
Three Main Voice Solution Comparisons
1. OTP Voice Chips (One-Time Programmable)
Characteristics:
Single programming opportunity with permanent data retention
Lowest BOM cost
Direct speaker drive capability
Typical Circuit Diagram:
Tumblr media
![OTP Circuit](Schematic shows: VDD→Chip→SPK→GND with trigger pin)
Tumblr media
Driver Code:
sda = 0; wait(300); /* >2ms initialization */ for (i = 0; i < 8; i++) { sda = 1; if (addr & 1) { wait(15); /* 2400us high */ sda = 0; wait(5); /* 800us low */ } else { wait(5); /* 800us high */ sda = 0; wait(15); /* 2400us low */ } addr >>= 1; /* Shift address right */ } sda = 1;
2. KT148A Reprogrammable Voice IC
Advantages:
SOP8 package with UART interface
User-updatable voice content
Built-in PWM speaker driver
Reference Circuit: ![KT148A Circuit](Includes UART connection and direct SPK drive)
Tumblr media
Control Example:
void send_data(u8 dat) { IO1_LOW(); /* Start condition */ udelay(5000); /* 6ms delay */ for(i=0; i<8; i++){ if(dat & 0x01){ /* Send '1' */ IO1_HIGH(); udelay(500); /* 600us */ IO1_LOW(); udelay(170); /* 200us */ } else { /* Send '0' */ IO1_HIGH(); udelay(170); /* 200us */ IO1_LOW(); udelay(500); /* 600us */ } dat >>= 1; /* Shift transmission */ } IO1_HIGH(); /* Release bus */ }
3. TTS Synthesis Chips
Key Features:
Dynamic text-to-speech conversion
No pre-recording required
Multi-language support
Implementation:
line = io.read("*l") -- Read text line audio.tts(0, line:trim()) -- Play content while true do msg = sysplus.waitMsg() -- Wait for playback complete if msg[1] == "MSG_PD" then break end end
Selection Recommendations
Tumblr media
Key Takeaways:
OTP delivers the lowest cost for fixed content
KT-series offers the best balance of flexibility and value
TTS enables completely dynamic content generation
Complete project files available upon request. Let's connect to discuss your specific voice implementation challenges!

Rooooound display prototype testing 🌀✨
Okay, we've got our 1.3" round TFT prototype ready for testing - and here's a cute GIF of a dial turning back and forth. It's a great way to test the display, backlight, and SD card interface. We're using a QT Py ESP32 since we need quite a bit of oomph to decode GIFs and display them in real-time. With EYESPI, no wiring is required! This is good to go - it's time to book the PCB panel!

My second channel was a bit neglected, so I will be uploading videos there now too again! I'm going to go through all my old electronic experiments and projects and record them for my electronics channel, Chris Elison Electronics on YouTube.
This episode was me building an Arduino on a breadboard using the ATMEGA328P microcontroller. I'm looking forward to recording more cool electronics videos as well as the gaming videos, I've got a lot of ideas for stuff I want to do!

Here is Khushagra Mathur Submitted his Home Automation project and it's published now on our website. https://quartzcomponents.com/blogs/electronics-projects/safeghar-rfid-based-door-locking-system The SafeGhar consists of RFID based door locking system which can also be controlled by your phone using Bluetooth, the same concept can extended to garage doors. To ensure the safety of its residents, the prototype is equipped with flame sensor and earthquake detector which can save lives in case of an emergency. We can easily integrate them into our houses by using a simple relay and dc power supply instead of battery. As further upgrades, I would like the system to be integrated with IoT, a gas leak detector, automatic curtains and many more smart systems. 🏆 Check out now: https://quartzcomponents.com/blogs/contest
