I draw Fred [Mitchell] Terrie and Phoebe or Era 1 Peridot.

Fred and Phoebe are relaxing at restaurant near Fred's house. Fred is listening song from his phone. Phoebe is listening song with Fred together, while she reading about earth technology, and eating Jelly Donut, her fav. dessert. 

Fred called Phoebe "Nerdy". Because, she had been reading for a long time without paying attention to him. He knew, she's Book Smart. She's smart and liked to read, but he couldn't help but want to tease and flirt her like that to make her pay attention to him.

Phoebe knew, he was trying to get her to notice him. So she calmly called "I'm your Nerdy, Idiot". But, Fred don't mind, when she called him like that. Plus, he's Street Smart, so he told her "But, I'm your Idiot".

*Note: After Fred lost his parents and live with his uncle and aunt (Leah's parents), and his cousin, Leah. His uncle changed his nephew's surname from 'Mitchell' to 'Terrie', but Fred wanted to keep his old surname as a memory between his parents.

A FRIEND AND I'S STEVEN UNIVERSE AU CHARACTERS.

Steven Universe has been my favourite show since 2019 when I properly watched it from start to finish. I remember crying when I realized it was over, it was such a beautiful show that has forever lived in my heart.

I created this Future AU in October 2023 with a close friend who had also fallen in love with the franchise. I created Tous/Peridot, and soon after, my friend came to me with this outstanding creative idea for a character of her own. That's when I helped her design Opalite, a one of her kind artificially made gem prototype. The AU I set quite a while after the death of Steven himself.

A very brief rundown of the AU:

Opalite was artificially made by the Diamonds through a new project process that was left to be developed by tech gems (like peridots) way back — a bit before pink diamond was announced shattered. With the late Era 1 materials they had, it was designed to use artificial materials for creating gems rather than using the minerals from organic planets. This would allow gems to be made on Homeworld with 100% designed perfection, and no loss of their decreasing materials along with other reasons to soon be discovered. 

The project was forgotten about through the SU saga until years after the man himself perished. It was discovered again during White Diamond’s overpowering thirst for a new era of conquering.

Opalite, the long-forgotten prototype design was already prepared to be tested…

Through the story she meets and becomes close to Tous — a funky little peridot who helps Opalite discover who she is in this empire, and universe.

During the story, Tous and Opalite end up fusing. The before and after story is… lengthy so use your imagination for now. They become the beautiful Labradorite.

Along with Opalite living as a high-class gem, she was given a pearl to take care of her. I don’t currently have a design for her :(

If you could make an oc for each Diamond court what would they be?

Actually... I kinda already have.

First there's Star Sapphire, my off-color Sapphire Gem OC who has retrocognition (ability to see the past), only she can't control what she sees. She'd be in Blue's court. Technically.

And Olivine, my Era 1 Peridot Gem OC, who in Era 3 basically becomes a mad scientist who experiments on other Gems. She'd have been in Yellow's court.

And the Honey Agates I designed just to be redshirts in a Pearl showcase Switcheroo AU entry. Someone asked if they're Honey Agates and I stuck with it. They'd also have been in Yellow's court.

And of course some people would argue CG!Spinel is basically an OC at this point so there ya go.

Yes, I do! So far, I haven't decided on a concept for Imposter, but I think I’m quite close to do him too! But for now we have Akane as Jasper, Kuzuryu siblings as Citrines, Teruteru as Ruby, Chihiro as era 1 Peridot and Peko as Moonstone!

I've had this au in my mind for like MONTHS now but *only now* have I made full designs for the main team... (they're not the greatest ik but I'll polish them up in the future)

I'm not 100% satisfied with bulkhead's design so she's probably going to change soon (op's axe too)

and ratchet is an era 1 Peridot

Peridot regeneration timeline! Just so i could dress her up a little hehe

(Headcanons I made while drawing this under the cut)

1. Along with not being able to shapeshift, Era 2s can’t do much more with their regenerations than change the color of their skin, which is why all of her outfits are skintight. (Except her visor because I don’t know fuck me I guess).

2. To cut costs, Era 2s also emerge knowing literally nothing except how to do their job (hence "touch stumps" "gravity connectors" etc). During “corrections” she gets her first uniform, which is a physical object they glue onto her - you can tell because her doll joints still show underneath. This is the only outfit that hangs off her body.

3. The first outfit also includes a mass-produced visor that doesn’t have a hole for her gem, so she suffers some energy deprivation having to absorb light through the glass. In her next regen she produces her own visor with a hole around her forehead, then by the next she figures out how to make it perfectly cut around her gem. The visor is what blocks you from seeing the facet edges of the gem (except I forgot to draw them again in the last design lol).

4. Her first limb enhancers are high quality and match her skin tone and everything. At 250 when she’s basically just an intern, she gets into an argument with a higher-up, who destabilizes her and revokes her fingers for a while --- this is when she becomes an obsessive rule-follower. After she gets exploded at age 2000 (rip) she gets these more generic enhancers that don’t match as well (the same kind of ‘spare’ enhancers Amethyst wears later on). They have a slightly different UI she doesn’t completely figure out until 3000 when she’s fighting the CGs.

5. Her feet are formless blobs because they were never supposed to see the light of day. She turns them into boots at the end because it’s the first time she’s really needed shoes. She still has fingers, though, because they figured she needs those in order to put on limb enhancers.

6. In canon, the fact that she stays the same before and after Garnet poofs her probably proves that she's just had the same design her entire life? But I will point out that for some reason, when she got put in a bubble it prevented her from experiencing the passage of time while poofed (right down to her continuing her own sentence when she regenerates this time).

What are some of the arcs you have headcanons for that Peridot didn’t explore in canon? If you don’t mind me asking. I really wanted to see her more in the series and I felt there was so much more for her to do.

Omgggg okay so I have a lot of things I wish were explored more

1. toxic doomed lapidot arc - I liked the one episode where Steven and amethyst try to cheer her up after lapis left her and took the barn but I wished there was more of that. also there wasn’t much talking between the two when lapis got back. She never apologized for leaving and taking her entire home and I wish I got to see more of the fallout and character beats from raising the barn. (I dont blame the crewniverse at all for any of these points tho I get they were just trying to finish the show with a real ending after writing a gay wedding they could only fit so much into the ending of the show) With the way peridot was talking about their relationship in raising the barn there were so many red flags and I just wish it could have been explored more like what happened in that barn how did they get to this codependent dynamic in the first place? Like it seemed fine on the surface but I also got the feeling that peridot was putting on a face for lapis bc her personality changed so much once she was separated from the crystal gems and only being around lapis. And then when peridot said she was always bending over backwards to make her happy it kinda confirmed that for me like a lot of what she did she did to keep lapis happy, or if not happy then just not breaking down. Lapis had been through so much trauma and it makes sense for her to act that way and for her to feel like she needs someone always keeping her together and making things right for her, not realizing that it comes at the other persons expense. I love both of them and I think they both have the best intentions but I think they are doomed idk I like them better apart honestly I want to see them independent from each other in the end but it is so satisfying to watch the angst play out. So yeah

2. Peridot backstory - I want to know more about her life before she got to earth, her manager, etc, I know she is a newer gem so it wouldn’t be a super long history of stuff but I want to see her learning she needs limb enhancers and seeing era 1 peridots (which I hc are tall) and what she’s “supposed” to look like and what abilities she is supposed to have and just feeling wrong and bad abt herself 😭 ok ill admit it sounds like I want her to suffer but honestly to me I see the signs of it already like how she views herself and I just want it to be explored.

3. AMEDOT ARC - ok I really like their dynamic and I feel like peridot acts the most like herself and the most authentic when she is around amethyst. I swear too far is one of the best eps. I want to see them fuse SOO BADDD I think they are so cute. It also seemed TO ME like amethyst was jealous of lapis in that one ep where she visits them but that could be my bias speaking. I think they would actually be good for each other and it would be really cute I love them and they def had a lot of potential. They both feel inferior for the way they were made(at least I hc that peridot does, we know amethyst does) and I feel like they could bond over that

4. I want to know how she got over not having her limb enhancers anymore. Cause not only does it make her shorter more importantly I think is that it makes her harmless. She doesn’t have the ability to summon a weapon (YET, I also hc that she will learn how to do it eventually) and she has no way of defending herself. She does have metal powers but I feel like the damage she could do is so limited compared to her limb enhancers. So why in SU future, when they have full access to the home world warp, does she not replace them? I think thematically it would be setting her back so it makes sense that she wouldn’t, but I want to see her thought process behind it and how she learns to like herself the way she is, even if she feels like she isn’t as strong as the rest of the gems. I really would like to see her learn to summon an actual weapon and learn that she actually can do it despite being told back on home world that she doesn’t have that ability as an era 2 (probs to control her, so her power can be taken away by removing her limb enhancers and making her feel less than)

*takes a deep breath* Here goes some bullshit.

So I've been looking back at Steven Universe, a show that I haven't fully seen again in literal years, and it's as flawed as everyone says... but it's also infinitely better than I remembered. The Pink Diamond/Rose Quartz stuff is an arc that makes sense, Steven's character isn't absolute peak but he's also not the utter meme people make him out to be, the gay space rocks are indeed cool, and for every last fumble there is there's somehow something to counteract it. Overall the show is a really good show with obvious cracks, but we're not going into a full in-depth analysis of the show, movie, and spin-off. We're taking a look at one character specifically.

Yep. This is a White Diamond post.

For context, White Diamond has been the main villain of the entire show as far back as season 1. Granted she never made an in-person, hell the show outright never mentions her in the earlier seasons, but through the introduction of characters like Lapis, Peridot, and Jasper, there were enough pieces to put together that there was indeed an empire. Eventually, as the show would progress we'd learn more about the Great Diamond Authority, more about the imperialistic system that the Crystal Gems fought against, more about the corrupted gems, more about Blue Diamond and Yellow Diamond, more about Pink Diamond, until we finally see White in the flesh for around 6:35 minutes of screentime, and god she is terrifying.

Then we get to her background, where we can basically gather that she's the Gem equivalent to a god, complete with the power to mold and manipulate the identities of other gems. So she's already the furthest thing from an actual person in comparison to Blue, Yellow, and Pink who are more like two queens and a princess that just so happen to be related to her. Though that doesn't mean that White is just absent of personality, oh no. Thanks to her "god" status, she has the complex to match it, is a literal giant control freak (Not even her fellow Diamonds were safe), and cannot see herself as anything other than flawless, something that the show's creator, Rebecca Sugar clearly showcases in the show and elaborates on:

"White believes that because her Gem channels white light, she is essentially a Gem light-form all the time. All Gems are made of light, and she is light manifest. She sees all Gems as her, sees herself in all Gems, and judges them as she would judge herself. She believes she is everyone—which is why she speaks for everyone. But the truth behind her identity and powers is that she has no identity at all. She needs other Gems to behave as she would—she is very poorly differentiated. And any Gem's behavior can be construed by her as a personal attack if they are not behaving as she would. Her identity is so fragile that she can only judge: If she were to act or feel or want, she would open herself up to her own criticism. She has traded that chance to be someone for the power to be everyone, a decision so miserable that everyone on the planet has to suffer for it." - Rebecca Sugar, Steven Universe: End of An Era

With this knowledge in hand, it's clear that White isn't just a tyrant, she's a divine tyrant that's never been a person. Unlike the gems she commands, she has no true self that she hides, she is simply god... a hollow, controlling god. There's nothing more dehumanizing than that.

That's pretty much White in the main show in a nutshell before her defeat. However said defeat is... let's be honest it's a crack on a perfectly fine finale.

First of all, Steven definitely wasn't super fond from the Diamond's, but after he at least got Yellow and Blue to chill the hell out and introduced them to the corrupted gem problem that's irreversible without White's Diamond's help, he goes to Homeworld. So right off the right off the bat, Steven HAD to at least try and get White to change her mind, which after one of the most chilling moments on the show and a breakdown, she did change her mind... a bit too quickly.

IMO the root problem (keyword root) with her turn is just that, she changed to quickly. If anything it would have made more sense for White to be mentally out of it for at least a year or 5 at the notion that she isn't flawless, that way we could at least come to the whole "Diamonds healing the corrupted gems" bit more naturally, while also granting the catharsis of the Great Diamond Authority being defeated.

Then there's her characterization after the main show ended which pretty much can be summed up as this:

She's still as narcissistic as ever, and still holds herself in a high regard, though it does make sense. She can never get rid of that aspect of herself, mostly thanks to what she is, but she's at least more willing to learn how to manage it. So it's not like she really changed a lot, she's just more focused on self control. The only real changes are the fact that she's more of a symbol than a divine leader, and her powers, which are less about controlling others and more about letting others voice their feelings through her. It's quite development, but it works for who she is now.

So what we have here with White Diamond conceptually is this. An entity that was actually born on an entirely different level of existence compared to everyone else, gained power because of that existence, and ultimately has been an amoral, terrifying, "perfect" god and nothing else for the past 20,000+ years. She's had nothing but that for a long time, and once she finally looses control and realizes she has "flaws," her perception of herself and her kind is shattered. From there, she pretty much begins keeping herself in check

On paper and in my head, I get what Rebecca Sugar was going for with her, on some levels I can see where she tripped on the finish line, and ultimately I can appreciate what she tried doing and what did work. White Diamond if anything is a reflection of the show, flawed but also really great.

had this idea for a corrupted Peridot for a while and got around to drawing it. Since Peridots are kindergarteners i figured making their corrupted forms resemble injectors would be neat, i think they could make drones like Centipeetle and the Bixibite. Also her arms are like electromagnetic manipulation playing off how Peridots had slight ferrokinetic abilities (which likely were more pronounced in era 1 gems) (also i wanted an excuse to use that brush cause it looked funky) idk i like her, its not very steven universe style but uhhh counterpoint i like drawing fucked up wretched teeth
