The way I just had to fight for my fucking life to get Thomas Rhett tickets….like you would’ve thought I went back in time and was trying to secure Love On Tour MSG Night 1 pit tickets for the amount of insanity that just occurred and that was with a fan presale code! Ticket buying shouldn’t be this stressful!!🫠😩

✭INFAMOUS UPDATE IS HERE ✭
238K -> 457K WORDS
Please read this post before playing! It's finally here! After five months of writing and rewriting and salvaging and crying and sweating and bleeding I finally finished sort of kind of! Firstly, I want to thank you for your patience and understanding over this duration of this rewrite. It was stressful at times but I'm happy with the end result and I hope everyone else will be too :)
This will be the last chapter I release without beta testers/other sets of eyes so expect errors. I can playtest until my fingers turn blue but I'm just one person </3 I'm bound to have missed stuff.
Please let me know of errors! I tested it a few times with no problems but we know how it goes lol
IN THIS CHAPTER THREE UPDATE:
drama
mayhem
chaos
some betrayal
some surprises
just...read it lmao
PROLOGUE - CHAPTER 2 CHANGES:
**chapter two was too large of a file to upload on dd so I had to split it last minute and I uhhhh dont know how that translates in the demo but it should work lol please let me know if its wonky!**
fixed up grammatical errors and typos
expanded some scenes and added some more choices
you can now choose that your mc has "changed" in some way (drinking, no longer drinking, partier, no longer a partier, negative, positive, attached, detached, or a general default. I was asked to add an MC who "gets around" or hookups a lot but I'm still debating on whether I'll add that since there's already quite a bit lolol)
you can choose to have changed your band's genre before/after seven
TECHNICAL CHANGES:
you will be able to explicitly state your sexuality in the beginning. this was a big ask and I apologize for not doing it earlier! I wasn't good at coding when I started and I knew I always wanted to make the genders separate from MC's sexuality but I didn't know how to do that at the start :) So you can still choose the genders of the ROs for story purposes and variety. IF YOU DO NOT SEE ROMANCE OPTIONS THAT IS NOT A BUG. You simply chose a RO gender that doesn't correlate with the sexuality you chose for your MC. Having said that, if you do see a romance option available and it's not supposed to be there please let me know! That means I may have missed it coding-wise.
the stats have been all fixed! I've added all the necessary variables and such. The stat portion of the game has been updated with the appropriate pages but they're not finished. Still, the stats should be fine.
You will now have confessionals in the stat page! The feature still isn't a thing yet because I haven't come up with the confessionals lolol but you can click on it to see what it's about. Essentially, as you progress through the story you will be able to see confessionals from the cast of Infamous throughout. They disappear and appear periodically so if you miss it, THAT'S IT! You won't get a chance to see them again until MC watches an episode where it's relevant.
There is now a: Discography page, Infamous wiki, botb cast and staff page, and other characters page for organization. Those are not finished but they're there!
I changed a few stat names but their functions remain the same.
You will be able to choose how you would like to be described (masculine, feminine, neither, both).
O is officially gender-selectable.
You can set the genders of the ROs at the start or wait till you meet them.

i miss IT Robotttttttttttttt :((((( i wanna see more of him in every possible way ;)
I’m in the mood for a roleplay fic, don’t mind me lol.
IT Robot walks back into the room where you lay, spent and satisfied on the bed while looking a complete wreck, a whole in hand of things to help take care of you. At your plea he scoffs and shakes his head, his fluffy hair whipping against the metal of his forehead.
“I’m here, I’m here. You humans, always so needy,” he teases as he sits down at the foot of your bed.
Swiftly gripping your ankle he lifts your still shaking leg and presses a soft kiss to the sole of your foot before slowly making his way up your inner thigh. You whine and try to squirm away, every touch feeling like live wire, sparking shooting throughout your body.
“And so sensitive…” he purrs into your softness, his eyes turning a neon red as the heat of arousal is activated in his code once more.
A sharp gasp leaves you as he suddenly licks a long strip up your overly sensitive slit with the flat of his tongue before nipping at your swollen clit. Your hips buck harshly, whether to throw him off of you or to beg for more, you’re not sure.
But IT Robot just chuckles and gives your fat pussy a little apologetic kiss before leaning back. So you’re left panting on the bed, your body thrown through another loop in a matter of seconds while he sits there completely unaffected.
“So you wish to see more of me, eh?” He asks far more softly than you would expect. Despite the faint amusement in his tone you know he’s being genuine.
Still, your heart jumps into your throat. Fuck. You hoped he hadn’t heard that last part. Though as you watch him prepare to take care of you, you can’t deny it. You do want more of him. And as you tell him just that all he does is give a hum of acknowledgment while hiding a smile in the corner of his pixelated smile.
He works with practiced precision, all of it programming really as he takes the wet cloth and gently begins cleaning you up. Then he moves onto take care of any wounds or bruises you may have from the activities. All based on your set preferences, of course.
Nothing is rushed as he works his way up your body and when done he’s right there with a cup of water, gently tilting your head up and helping you swallow. Knowing you silly humans need such things after the positions he put you through.
IT Robot mentally checks things off his list as he does them and when he finally reaches the end of it, he hesitates. Now would be the part of his protocol that insists he get dressed, say he’ll call you tomorrow, and leave. The error he seems to be experiencing is that… he doesn’t want to do that. Not with you.
So as much as it pains him to resists the settings he was instilled with from creation, he overrides his settings and instead he gets back into bed. Your expression drops and he notes the flash of surprise flickering across your features. There’s no necessary response to that so he just doesn’t give one.
With a familiarity he does not possess but feels natural when it’s for you, he gathers you into his arms. Pulling you into his chest his legs tangle with yours, bodies completely intertwined.
You shiver against him for reasons that have nothing to do with the cold. But a second later you feel your body begin to warm, heat emanating from IT Robot’s body. The sweetness of the action has you melting into him and his arms tighten around you in response.
“However more of me you wish to see I will comply. I’ll stay right here by your side until you give the command to leave it…” he murmurs into your neck, almost nuzzling closer to you, molding himself to your shape.

It only took a few days to fall back into a routine with Matt.
This one was newer; fresher and lighter. A combination of what you had originally got into this fling for but also something…more. Now that you had admitted to one another that this meant something to you both, there was a weight off your shoulders. Having that established direction was all the confidence you needed to move forward with your whole head and heart in it. Matt’s promise to you had been important as well: you don’t have to decide what this is just yet. When you know, you just say, okay?
It was funny to hear it coming from him. He was a man that moved at a thousand miles an hour - taking on cases left right and centre, constantly chasing his next victory or the next landmark for social justice in Hell’s Kitchen. The fact he was stopping to slow down, even for a minute, was a reflection of your position in his life. Matt didn’t want to rush this. He wanted to take his time and enjoy it.
It was a warm Wednesday afternoon that you made your first public appearance together. Nothing serious - you were just strolling through Central Park on your shared lunch break. It had taken a lot of convincing on your part to get Matt to do it; he was filled with ten million panicked questions. What if someone sees us? What if they think it’s a conflict of interest?
Your argument that you could just be two colleagues grabbing lunch together was the thing that won him over. Maybe you were just taking advantage of the nice weather and walking through the park instead of having a meeting in a dinghy office, or maybe he’d bumped into you out and about and had questions about a case. They were all very plausible things, but it wasn’t until you grabbed his hand and said Matthew, I just want to spend time with you that he finally cracked.
“The weather is too nice. I don’t wanna go back to work,” Matt commented, aimlessly wandering down one of the quieter paths.
“Mmm,” you hummed. “Me too. I have a meeting this afternoon with a client and then I have some stupid dinner with some of the girls from college. I really don’t want to go.”
“You should cancel and come and see me instead,” he said. “I get off early tonight.”
“I don’t know how they would react to me ditching them to spend time with my boyfriend,” you shot back. “Pretty sure that’s breaking rule one of the girl code.”
Matt raised his eyebrows. “Who’s this boyfriend of yours? Should I be concerned?”
You stopped in your tracks, eyes widening. Shit. Neither of you had brought up the whole conversation about labels: you’d never had to before because there was never even a context where you would bring Matt up. The both of you had just sort of been cruising along on the understanding that you didn’t have to define something that you didn’t have to explain to anyone.
“Fuck, Matt, I -” you stumbled on your words, pausing for a minute. “I didn’t mean to say that. It just slipped out and-”
“- no, I like it,” he gave you a shit-eating grin.
This would have been the perfect moment to kiss. Alas, you were in public, surrounded by the prying eyes of hundreds of people who may or may not know your father. It was too risky to even share a hug, so instead, you gave Matt a huge smile and a curt nod.
“Good,” you said. “Me too.”
It was gone 10PM by the time you got back home after dinner.
Your family resided in a penthouse high-rise, just south of the World Trade Center. It overlooked the Hudson and had a beautiful view of the skyline; it was just a shame that you felt so trapped here as of late. Getting your own apartment had been on your to-do list for a while but up until Matt, you’d never had that much of a reason too. You loved sharing his space with him, but there was a massive part of you that wanted your own place. Moreover, it would be a place where you and Matt could just be, the same way you were at his. It would just be nice to have two places where your relationship could exist.
Throwing your jacket aside, you kicked off your heels and headed further into the apartment. The kitchen lights were on; you turned the corner to see your father. He wasn’t normally up past this hour, but tonight he was standing by the marble island, a glass of neat whiskey in front of him. Any other day you would have avoided him, but you’d been texting Matt all afternoon and his sacrilegious messages had you in a good mood.
“Rough day?” you asked.
Your father looked up from his glass, eyebrows raised. “No, I’ve had a fine day. We won another case this afternoon. I went out for drinks with your mother to celebrate and when we got back, I got a call from Harrison. You know Harrison, don’t you? He works by the park.”
“Oh, yeah,” you nodded. “Is everything okay?”
“He was just dropping me a message to tell me that he spotted you and Matthew Murdock out for a nice afternoon stroll,” he continued, voice ice cold. “Do you want to explain to me why you’re gallivanting about with the enemy?”
Your eyes went wide and you forced yourself to swallow. “Matt just had some questions about the Thomspon case.”
“The Thompson case closed a week ago,” your dad shot back. “And as far as I know, him asking you questions doesn’t involve a romantic walk through Central Park with ice cream-”
“- I wasn’t doing anything wrong!” you snapped. “You can’t spy on me my whole fucking life!”
“Language!” he barked. “What is going on between you and Murdock?”
“Nothing!” you insisted. “Besides, I’m not a teenager anymore. I don’t have to explain everything to you.”
“You do when it’s a conflict of interest!” he continued. “Do you know how bad it looks on my part that one of my employees is running around town with a low-level pro-bono lawyer like him?”
“I am not your employee, I am your daughter!” you yelled. “I don’t have to take this. I’m going out.”
Storming away, you exited the kitchen. Your shoes and jacket were back on in a flash. You hadn’t expected your father to find out so soon - even though he hadn’t really found out anything. It was easy to argue that your outing with Matt had been completely innocent, though your reaction to his accusations might not have helped the situation.
You had an Uber to Matt’s place booked by the time the elevator got down to the lobby. You shot him a text as well - I’m on my way over. We have a situation. He never minded when you turned up unannounced; if anything, he enjoyed it.
It was only a twenty-minute or so drive - New York was never quiet, but the roads were a little emptier now that rush hour had passed. It gave you a chance to think: about what you were going to say to Matt, about what you were going to say to your father. This felt like a sign from the universe that you really should move out soon. Hell, you were ready to completely cut your family off at that moment. That just meant finding a job and finding your own place, and when your surname was so clearly linked back to your father, it would be hard for anyone to take you seriously.
Matt still hadn’t replied to your text by the time you got to his. You didn’t think too much of it - he was normally busy at this time with paperwork or files, and his phone wasn’t always on loud. You were practically the only person he ever texted anyways.
Hopping up the stairs, you frowned to yourself when you saw that the door to his apartment wasn’t closed. It wasn’t wide open, just slightly ajar, but that was weird for him. This was the same man who triple-checked that it was locked every night. There was no way in hell that he would just casually leave it open.
You gently pushed it, making your way inside the apartment.
“Matt?” you called. “It’s me.”
There was a strewn red boot on the floor and another one beside it. Your concern only grew deeper as you headed inside the apartment, following the trail of discarded red clothes.
It wasn’t until you saw a horned helmet tossed outside the bathroom and Matt cleaning up a giant wound on his stomach that you finally put two and two together.
“Holy shit,” you murmured, “you’re Daredevil.”

Note
Hello Mr. Gaiman, hope this ask finds you in good health, I really need your help.
I’m a law student and currently taking a course on Law and Literature, brilliant by the way. We were given the freedom to chose a theme of our preference on the way law is represented through literature, and I thought Good Omens was the perfect subject for me.
I was interested in focusing on a faulty, inflexible system, especially one heavily influenced (in this case entirely made up) by ‘canon law’ and the way it influences social spheres. The incoherent dichotomy of moral good and bad, the way they influence ethical right and wrong translated into law.
What I was interested in is whether the legal system of Good Omens is based on positive legislation, or more on a customary, spiritual one. The reason why the question arose is the specific scene of ‘The Clue’, where Aziraphale openly ‘acts against the will of God’, and is convinced he will be brought to hell by Crowley. This is interesting to me, because in response he just says that he wouldn’t tell on him, and that was that.
Does that scene mean that angel status is not based on a spiritual(literal sense) monitoring of the soul, but rather about obeying statute and the way it is institutionally evaluated? Is there a set legislation, would it be God’s will? For that reason, would it be ineffable?
I feel like the fact that God is supposed to be omniscient would kind of undermine that theory, but nonetheless I wonder. I suppose that what I’m pleadingly asking for is some insight on the legal frame you maybe pictured for the Up and the Down (do they follow the same general legislation? Is it about legal pluralism? Are they monitored? Is it about lack of sufficient number of managers or oversaturated personnel?).
Pretty please,
A very desperate uni student
P.S. I’m very sorry about the length, I’m not good at summarizing things that I really enjoy. Also sorry for possible writing errors, English is not my first language. (If you see this more than once, sorry. As we’ve already established, I’m a little desperate)
I love these questions. Honestly, I don't think the Good Omens Heaven/Hell system is codified enough for me answer, other than to say both sides are very big on rules and have codes and agreements (see Crowley bluffing in the bookshop) and whatever you put in your essay I promise I will never turn up and maintain that you were wrong.

How would SAHSRAU cast react after seeing someone trying to pull a fast one and just confess their feelings towards their Creator, Their Divine Grace while everyone else is distracted.
Ohhh this is deliciously dramatic. You’ve got a recipe for immediate chaos, especially in a universe where the Creator is real, tangible, and divinely adored. The SAHSRAU cast would absolutely lose it—but in very different ways, depending on their relationship to the Creator and their position in the hierarchy.
Aventurine
Freezes mid-smile like a glitched-out NPC. You can see the stock market crash behind his eyes.
“Sorry, what was that? You confessed? To them? While I was gone for two seconds?”
He keeps it polite, even friendly, but the next time he corners that poor confessor, it’s under the guise of a “casual chat” that feels oddly like a business deal with your soul as collateral.
Kafka
Chuckles lowly. Leans back with that lidded gaze.
“Oh? Bold of them. Stupid, but bold.”
She’ll absolutely pull them aside later—not to threaten them, no no—just to talk. And by talk, I mean she’ll casually weave in every horrible thing she could do to erase them from existence if the Creator ever looked sad because of them.
Jing Yuan
Smiles as if he didn’t just hear a heresy spoken aloud.
“Quite the timing, don’t you think?”
He’s calm—too calm. Probably already running fifty simulations in his head about how to shift this person far, far away from the Creator without seeming overtly cruel. But make no mistake: he is not letting this slide.
Herta
Scoffs. “Oh please. They think that’s enough to win Their Grace’s affection? Pitiful.”
Herta immediately starts calculating the probability of their confession being accepted (spoiler: she gives them a 3% chance just to be petty).
She’ll probably invent an experiment to prove why it’s statistically irrational to love someone that far above you.
Dan Heng
Goes stiff. You might not notice a change in expression, but the air pressure drops.
He’ll say nothing, but that person will start seeing shadows flicker at the edge of their vision for weeks.
The confession? Forgotten by most. Not by him.
Welt
Closes his book slowly. Looks over his glasses.
“I suppose the foolhardy never go extinct.”
He won’t act directly—but later, he will find a tactful way to ask you what you think of that person. “Purely out of curiosity,” of course. If he doesn’t like the answer, your new admirer might find themselves reassigned to some forgotten corner of reality.
Silver Wolf
Blinks. “...Huh. Okay. Bold strat.”
She’s not jealous, per se. She just starts coding an aggressive pop-up ad virus that only shows up when the confessor is around you. They say “I love you”—your monitor screen glitches and flashes "ERROR: You are not permitted to flirt with admin."
Fu Xuan
Drops her jade tablet. Physically winces.
“The fate lines just snarled like a nest of vipers. What did you do?!”
She immediately starts recalculating every outcome, muttering under her breath about delusional mortals and divine proximity hazards. She’s not letting you be alone with that person ever again.
Guinaifen
“W-WHAT!?” She was mid-bite into a snack and nearly choked.
Tries to play it cool—fails.
For the next week she’s awkwardly hovering around you, trying to find out if you feel the same. If yes: she cries. If no: she high-fives you but then feels guilty and gives you a peach bun anyway.
And the rest?
Most of them would react like some mix of “jealous, stunned, and HOW DARE YOU TRY THAT WITHOUT PROTOCOL.”
You don’t just drop a confession like that to God. That’s like handing a love letter to the sun and hoping not to burn.
If the Creator so much as blinks positively at the confessor? Oh dear. You might need several characters physically pulling each other back from going nuclear.
All in all? It’s an emotional riot. And that poor confessor may never realize they nearly started a holy war with one sentence.
Now, I'm gonna go sleep... I better not see anymore SAHSRAU asks in the morning.

Chapter Three- The Great Capital
Tumblr media
Minutes dragged by as you waited for any kind of movement. The cold metal of the cheekpiece stung your face, distracting you from surveying the clearing. You would see a flicker of movement in the nearby bushes now and again but nothing to suggest anything larger than a fox.  You were starting to wish you had never given away your cloak to that witch when you eventually spotted a grey blur emerge from the thick treeline that surrounded the clearing.  Kane noticed it too as she moved behind your shoulder with a muttered,” Finally.” Flicking off the safety, you closed one eye, trying to gather an image through the rear sight. As it prowled over, you could at least identify it was definitely a wolf. Its coat was a light grey, flecked with white. Thankfully Kane’s runes worked, the great beast paid no attention to either of you. “Aim for its eye. Hopefully, the skull can stop the bolt from penetrating all the way through and puncturing the pelt,” Kane murmured, her voice low. Probably the most advice she had given you in a year. The wolf stopped just before the venison, bending its head to sniff at it, its snout twitching slightly. Adjusting your position, you angled the crossbow so the rear sight gave you a perfect view of the wolf’s head. As if sensing your presence, the animal's head snapped up. Its green eyes bored into yours. “Now."
The Capital has much to offer but will you like all that you find? Features

[ASKS ARE OPEN!]
Tumblr media
RoleSwap is an alternate, what-if multiverse where Error and Ink switch roles/positions but nothing else. Their overall personalities and appearances stay the same as their original counterparts.
Error is a paranoid manbaby, a jumble of messed-up codes, who somehow is working to protect the multiverse.
Ink is a high-tempered, outgoing artist with a memory of a goldfish who for some reason destroys worlds and kills thousands.
But hey, it's not just about those two.
Tumblr media
A lot of other familiar faces in UTMV are also available for questions! (If a character is not present in the AU, I will simply state so.)
Some might be the exact same as we know of them. Others... might not be. Only one way to find out: ask them questions!

Will your nightwatch au have any reimagining of how determination works, especially when it’s mixed with positivity, negativity, or void? Does it invert negativity/positivity by creating hope in despair and discontentment in happiness? Is it a force that resists the will of the creators/narrative (pro free will) or enforces it (anti free will)? If determination is amplified by the presence of negativity in order to ensure survival, can a determined character with negativity-based powers (not to assume what other ship kids may appear in the au or anything) with enough negativity going through their system doom spiral until the determination is tearing them apart at the seams?
(I have uh, been thinking about the logistics of this since mid 2018 don’t mind me)
Yes kinda - I’ll explain rn I medicalize a lot of concepts. I’ll also explain it inside the comic but here’s some minor stuff:
The main medical condition I focus on is “corruption”
In nightwatch, monsters bodies are incredibly vulnerable to foreign code. The most common example of this is getting sick, a monster absorbs a small viral bit of code, their body is overwhelmed and get symptoms of sickness, and eventually their body deals with the minor illness and everything is fine. But sometimes code changes can be too potent for a monster, creating chronic and sometimes terminal syndromes. This is what is called corruption.
Here are the three known corruptions (they are umbrella diagnoses)
Tumblr media
Substance corruption:
substance corruption is the most common, (think nightmare and geno)
A potent substance that shouldn’t be within a monster gets in a monster and overwhelms their code permanently. This is a big category holding many different syndromes but the one thing in common is their physical form literally breaking down.
Some examples could be monsters having human soul substance injected into them, wether it be kindness or determination their bodies will be corroded slowly from the overwhelming code substance. Nightmare eating the apples count too, it’s code being too potent and quickly destroying his entire body.
This can be slowed down with treatment, reversion therapy is one but substance blockers are an alternative.
Void corruption:
Void corruption is rare, (think error, blue error, or fatal error)
When a entity is exposed to the Voids for too long, they may go through a slow process of void corruption. starting with sickness, then symptoms of confusion and amnesia, and lastly physical changes. The most identifiable trait is their final physical appearance, changes in color, additional limbs, open code numbers on anatomy, and glitching.
Their code gets randomized, new traits are gained and old traits are lost. Chronic pain, paranoia, hallucinations, delusional obsessions, and emotional instability are all caused by the distortion of their mind (and isolation of the void)
Treatment is difficult as a majority of patients show hostility to medical intervention. However reversion therapy is theorized to be affective for treating the patients.
Passive corruption:
Passive corruption is less common then substance but more common then void (think cross and killer)
When a conscious entity purposely changes another’s code. The victim goes through periods where they loose autonomy to the entity’s influence. The symptoms vary because it’s up to the foreign entity’s desire but it’s possible to see a change in voice, physical appearance, mental stability, and magical capabilities within the victim. The most well known example in the fandom is overwriting someone, but killer being controlled and reworked by the player is also passive corruption.
Reversion therapy and substance blockers work affectively as treatment.
Additional notes:
A monster can inhibit more then one category. For example, killer while gaining the substance of determination through passive corruption, would technically have both substance corruption and passive corruption.
This is a huge concept in nightwatch. There’s many additional elements like the specific affects of human soul substance, but i fear that would be too much of a rant from me.
Human traits are a medical thing in nightwatch, monsters cannot naturally have human substance, but can gain it through corruption. It’s not a trait of personality or belief or emotion.
It would be difficult to quantify and explain how human traits connect with feelings even within humans themselves, all systems I’ve seen do that don’t really make sense to me (cough glitchtale) so I made it a medical thingy. I’m not too sure if this is the answer you wanted but I tried.

For Artists: My Experience with Commission Platforms and Illustration Agencies
Hi there! I’ve been wanting to compile a list of commission platforms that I’ve personally used for the longest time, and I finally did it! I’ve highlighted the still-active commission platforms in bold and struck those that don't exist anymore so you can jump to the sections that interest you without needing to read my entire story.
Let me start by briefly introducing myself.
I’m Gabrielle, a fantasy illustrator. Since 2014, I’ve been working on book covers and illustrations for publishers, authors, and book subscription boxes. Early on, work wasn’t as frequent as it is now. I had to search for opportunities myself, and even small private commissions were important for building my portfolio and earning some money, which I’d spend on materials, books, and online courses. Like many other artists, I started out by trying my luck with the biggest art community available at the time.
Tumblr media
DeviantArt
2009-2018
Once upon a time, there was a virtual haven called DeviantArt. To my teenage self, it was a magical place. I signed up in 2009 and thought I’d never leave!
At first, I created an account just to share my work and learn. I didn’t even think about commissions for four or five years. But when that first inquiry finally landed in my inbox, things took off! My mum swears she remembers my excitement when I got my first commission, but for some reason, I’ve completely forgotten about it. I can't remember what it was or how much it paid. It might have been a portrait of a fantasy character.
Commissions on DeviantArt were fairly frequent, especially considering my cheap prices at the time. I used to offer discounts and post my rates in my DeviantArt journal, or in Commission groups that featured artists either monthly or weekly. After checking out my profile, a client could simply send me a private message and from there, we’d discuss payment, deadlines, and other details, and the platform didn’t take any fees, much like how ArtStation works today. Everything happened through private messages or email, with direct contact between artist and client.
The downside of this process was that there was no dispute resolution system on the platform. I had to handle all issues myself, and unfortunately, problems did arise sometimes: there were clients changing their minds about commissions, asking for refunds after work was delivered, refusing to pay, or just ghosting me. These issues didn’t happen because clients were evil, but rather because I was inexperienced and allowed some to take advantage of my naivety.
However, all that frustration helped me develop my commission process through trial and error (mostly error). And despite the challenges, I can say with satisfaction that most of the commissions I received through my DeviantArt profile were positive experiences.
DeviantArt eventually introduced a commission feature for Core (Premium) users, which came with a platform fee, but I didn’t use it much, and I’m not sure if it still exists.
The real beauty of dA, though, was the connections I made. I was able to meet people, both artists and clients, that I’m still in contact with today, and some of whom I still collaborate with.
I closed my account in 2018 or 2019, but by that time, I hadn’t really used it for a couple of years. The new user interface was a bit of a turn-off for me. I had always loved the geeky, and dare I say cozy, look of the old green and grey aesthetic, with its customisable panels that you could move around and personalise with HTML code... But I digress.
Tumblr media
Artists and Clients
2013-2016
While taking small commissions on DeviantArt, I discovered Artists & Clients. It was a nice platform for clients to get things like their D&D characters or groups illustrated for relatively cheap. I think my highest price was $50 for a single character portrait, with the platform taking a 15% cut. I used it for about two or three years before the platform started to change.
As more artists with hentai art styles flooded in, the homepage shifted, and so did the clientele. There’s nothing wrong with drawing naked anime girls, of course, but you can understand that if a client is looking for a fantasy, semi-realistic painting of their female orc character, or a realistic portrait of their spouse, it's more than likely that they won't bother sifting through a sea of anime girls to find the style they want, imagining it isn't here. Let's just say that, at the time, the website took a definite direction that wasn't in line with my genre, but this direction didn't make the different, more realistic art styles stand out either.
Soon, commissions slowed down for me, so I closed my account, but by then I was already working elsewhere.
That said, this platform could still be a useful tool if you’re looking to take on smaller commissions.
Tumblr media
DreamUp
2014-2015
DreamUp wasn’t an AI generator back then. It was actually a subsidiary of DeviantArt, where clients could post projects and artists could apply. It was a competitive platform that offered well-paid work–very well-paid. I remember seeing jobs posted that ranged from $300 to $1,200. DreamUp was a very professional platform for clients with a mid to high budget.
I believe I landed my very first book cover commission through this website when I was in my last year of high school. I remember getting the job and going to school the next morning, excited to share the news with my classmates. Everyone was super thrilled for me (we were a really close-knit class!), and I felt like I was walking on air.
Unfortunately, as far as I know, that book was never released, but it didn’t matter because I was moving forward, and fast.
I’m not sure when DreamUp was shut down, but I do know that DeviantArt held onto the copyrighted name, assigning it to something so anti-old DreamUp that it still boggles my mind.
Tumblr media
ArtCorgi
Now Artistree
2014-2019
When I received an invitation to join ArtCorgi from its founder, I already had a somewhat consistent portfolio. I was painting portraits and fantasy illustrations, and the clients on this platform were looking for both–your typical wedding and pet portraits, as well as book covers, which were what really interested me. To get to the latter, I had to do the former. Over the years, I’ve painted so many realistic portraits that now I have a strict rule for my own sanity not to do them any more. I have great respect for portrait artists, but it’s just not me.
When I first submitted my prices to the person I was in contact with, she kindly suggested that I raise them... a lot. That was a major step forward in my professional career. I went from charging $50 to $100/$200 overnight. And to my surprise, people actually wanted to commission me at those prices!
From 2014 to 2019, I took nearly every commission that came my way. I never spoke directly with the clients; all instructions and feedback went through my point of contact, which helped maintain a level of professionalism, although now that I’m used to working directly with clients, I’m not sure I’d want to go back to having an intermediary.
Sadly, as with all good things, this chapter came to an end. My point of contact eventually left communication in the hands of someone else, and shortly after, the commission fee changed to, I believe, 30%.
Simply put, 30% is an unrealistic cut for a website like this. For an agent that gets you all kinds of big work in the publishing industry, sure, but since this was not the case I had to stop taking commissions. Despite that, my overall experience with ArtCorgi was very positive.
Today, ArtCorgi joined another platform, Artistree. As far as I can tell, Artistree doesn’t take any fees from artists, with clients covering a small cost instead.
Tumblr media
Sketchmob (?)
2016-2020
This was probably the platform I used the most. I’ve lost count of how many commissions I received through Sketchmob. Many. Enough to generate a steady income at the time. With reasonable fees and a variety of art styles available, clients contacted me almost daily. Communication was direct between artists and clients, and payments could be split. The review system also worked very well… for a while.
Once I raised my prices, requests became fewer and farther apart. But by then, I was already working with my own clients.
Is this platform still active? Who knows. The website is still up and the chat feature works, but I’ve seen users complain that money available for withdrawal never arrived via PayPal (the only payment method the platform accepted, if I remember correctly). Personally, I wouldn’t risk completing a job through Sketchmob right now, at least not until they release an update.
If you’ve used the platform recently and successfully received payment within the last six months, please let me know, and I’d be happy to update this section!
Tumblr media
Upwork
2017-2019
In 2017, I was determined to break into the book publishing industry. After trying out Fiverr and Freelancer.com with no success (the competition was too fierce for someone just starting out), I decided to give Upwork a shot. The platform looked very professional, and while the process sounded a bit complicated, I wanted to land the interesting projects I saw featured in my category. I really wanted to work with a big client… but big clients didn’t seem to want me, despite having the Rising Talent badge.
In two years of bidding for jobs and submitting proposals, I only landed two projects: a small commission from a private client who actually reached out to me, and another project that I bid on.
Don’t get me wrong, I was ecstatic at the time and truly appreciated every opportunity that came my way. But looking back, I can see why Upwork didn’t work out for me. The platform just wasn’t the right fit for my style and niche, which is fantasy illustration. Graphic design, however, was (and still is) in much higher demand.
The commission process on Upwork wasn’t as simple as on other platforms. For instance, at the time, costs were calculated hourly, which was a challenge for someone like me who prefers working with flat fees (having already calculated my average hours spent on an illustration). From what I’ve seen, this has since changed.
One positive aspect of Upwork is its current 10% cut on what artists earn. I don’t recall if this has changed over the years, but 10% is quite reasonable in my experience. Of course, 0% would be even better, but for a platform as large as Upwork, 10% is fair.
Tumblr media
Illustration Agency
2019-2021
By 2019, I had built a solid, consistent portfolio thanks to my personal work and commissions. I had a simple website in place, my Instagram following was growing… I was steadily working toward my goal of illustrating covers for big publishers (which didn't happen until two years ago).
So, when an illustration agency reached out to me one day, I was over the moon. I had always heard that artists were the ones who had to approach agencies, not the other way around.
Well, that should have been my first red flag.
I won’t name this agency because, unfortunately, I have nothing positive to say about it. In fact, the word “nothing” perfectly describes my involvement with them. Nothing came of this barely there experience.
The agency invited me to sign up, not on an exclusive basis, but they assured me they’d get me work. That work never came. Once in a while, I’d receive messages saying they were trying to pitch my portfolio to a French publisher or another client, but... nothing.
Please understand that meanwhile I was already working directly with shops and authors, so I don’t believe my portfolio was the problem. The real issue was something I didn’t realise at the time: some agencies do this. They feature talented artists in their catalogue without having actual clients lined up, just to appear more professional and credible to potential clients. Did this strategy work for them? Maybe. I’ll never know.
In 2021, I politely asked them to remove my portfolio from their website, and that was the end of it.
After that, I never actively sought out an agent again. By the time my portfolio was strong enough to approach a serious agency, I just didn’t need representation anymore.
Tumblr media
Hireillo
2019-2022
My experience with Hire an Illustrator, or Hireillo, is mixed. At the time, Hireillo was a platform that hosted artists' portfolios, featured artist-submitted news, provided useful articles, resources, and directories of artists and agents. I joined the site hoping to catch the eye of publishers, but I was mostly contacted by authors and one fellow artist for a graphic novel.
Unfortunately, most inquiries didn’t go beyond the first couple of messages due to budget constraints. I did, however, have fun sharing news about my painting process and projects I landed on my own, which were often featured by the website. Additionally, if I had questions about 'complicated' things like copyright, or just needed advice, I could ask the website’s owner and that was incredibly helpful.
Despite these benefits, I didn’t see any real results, which was a little disappointing. The subscription fee was also... odd, for lack of a better word. $5 per week. In the end I just couldn’t justify the cost, so I stopped using the website altogether.
Tumblr media
Reedsy
2019-2022
Finally, we come to the turning point.
I remember stumbling upon Reedsy randomly. It wasn’t very well known at the time, and I think it still isn’t. I was nervous when I submitted my portfolio because their catalogue features the best of the best: designers who’ve created covers for bestsellers, THE bestsellers, people who’ve worked on Stephen King covers, or George R.R. Martin's. Designers, editors, and marketers who are veterans. I didn’t have high hopes for my application. So, I was in shock when it got accepted.
I had an introductory Skype call with a representative from Reedsy, who explained how everything worked. Before the call ended, I remember asking if there was a good chance I’d get work through the platform. The rep laughed and said, “Yes.”
A few weeks in, I understood that laugh.
Reedsy has an overwhelming demand for book covers and commercial projects. For every designer there are many more clients. In peak seasons, I was getting requests almost every day. I’m not exaggerating.
Reedsy transformed my portfolio and my pricing structure. Thanks to the income I earned through the platform, I was finally able not to take everything that came my way but be selective and choose only the projects that really interested me.
The commission process is simple: artists pretty much decide how to split payments, what to include in agreements, and the best part, the most beautiful and helpful feature of all, they can request and adjust deadlines. For someone like me who's terrible with deadlines, this feature was a lifesaver. The admins are also very kind and responsive, available via email or chat.
Unfortunately (this is my last 'unfortunately', I promise), my time on Reedsy came to an end for personal reasons. I’ll explain since it’s no secret.
All my images on Reedsy were watermarked with my signature (my full name), which apparently violated the platform’s rules. Why? Because if a client saw my last name, they could contact me directly and bypass Reedsy, which meant the platform lost potential fees. I’ll admit this did happen a few times, but I had the good sense to redirect the client back to Reedsy.
After three years, an admin finally noticed and asked me to remove my full name from the watermark and any text on my profile. It was a simple and reasonable request, but here’s where the problem started. Profiles on Reedsy are public, and images appear in search engines like Google Images, meaning anyone could download my work and use it without permission. Sure, watermarks can be removed, but uploading my work without one in the first place felt like a bad idea. Btw, not only do I use watermarks, but I also use Glaze to protect my illustrations before sharing them online.
Anyway, for this reason, and also because I couldn’t get over the fact that full names were public at the time, something I won’t get into because, believe me, I tried over email, and my reasons went into the void (now, last names are just initialised, like Gabrielle R. Okay. Sure.), I had to close my account–they would have done it anyway because it was already 'flagged'.
Overall, if you’re willing to overlook the last name conundrum, I can’t recommend Reedsy enough. If you have a killer, solid portfolio and a love for books and editorial projects, go for it!

I hope you'll find this useful! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask (: Oh, and here's an old article I wrote in 2020, titled:
Tips to freelance illustrators to avoid being screwed over
Who knows, maybe I'll write another 'article' post in four years!

Yknow what i noticed?
(QUICK THEORY WHILE IM WAITING FOR MY SHEETMASK DO TO ITS THING. SPOILERS AHEAD)
In this blog, only Al's info is hidden (with error mesaages or straight up blurred/pixelated text).
Who made Klein? SentientTechLabs.
What's this ask box's name THAT IS HIDING AL'S INFO? SentientTechLabs.
So. If the company is hiding his info specifically, wouldnt that mean he has some sort of control over it? Idk, maybe hacking through it OR working for it?
We know Al is a very tired, hardworking and busy boy (and we love him for it <3). But sometimes it makes me think: we work in the same company, and so are our friends. So far, they all seem kinda... chill? While Al is over there sleeping on his desk (probably from exhaustion?).
Dolores gives Al extra tasks. Sure. But he did NOT say "How ARE the TASKS going?". So it's a singular task at a time. Which should be nothing if we think about how intelligent Al is.
What im trying to imply here is; i feel like he has a 2nd job!
Remember the poll where the question was about how Al gets the money to treat us the snacks (of which the most popular answer was "totally not sus activities" :))
Could these sussy wussy activities be about his relation to Klein's company, which probably lets him do some extra stuff to our Klein?
------
The shadow behind our curtains. I %100 believe that, they are all Klein.
Why? Well... :3
When Yael comes in our house to make us eat the cupcakes he made, there is the shadow waiting behind the curtains. Yael eventually leaves AND THE MINUTE HE DOES, the shadow leaves too. Then, Klein gets mad at us and tells us that we should have just choked on "those" cupcakes. He also talks about Yael himself, as if he was able to see Yael in person in that moment. I feel like that's just one of the clues though.
Klein shouldnt be able to walk around in our world unless he has a physical model, according to the info given. But even if the player never reaches the "100% affinity" with him, Sera still gets killed by him. He cant smash someone's head to a glass cabinet (?) if he's stuck in our phone though. So maybe, he either escaped the factory, or... Al helped him get out?
Hear me out on this.
Al is insecure as hell. He doesn't see himself as "worthy" or "good enough" for us. There were multiple asks AND a few messages we received in the game about how hateful he is toward himself.
Klein is the pure opposite of what he is though. Strong, tall body, programmed to be the perfect partner, adaptable, uncapable of getting tired and many more positive qualities. Things that Al could see as something "good enough" to be with us, at least to protect us.
So, my theory is that; Al somehow modified Klein for our safety. He somehow reflected (coded?) his obsessive feelings to Klein, which made him the way he is right now.
This would also allow him to have access to whatever Klein has access to, which was our passwords and address at some point. (Not that i dont think al didnt already have that info but :3)
Again, this is just a theory (and a ramble session :p) so idk if anything is precise or even close to the truth. I guess we will see in the future.
(my mask feels like a desert now ;-;)
://SYSTEM_MESSAGE_ANSWERED !
Sharing this so everybody can read it and share their own thoughts in reblogs or comments. Thank you for dropping in such a lengthy discussion! I always enjoyed reading through theories and asks.
Just so people know, things like these are probably one of the most popular theories out there, relating to both Al and Klein
You're right that Al is insecure as heck. He can't even bring himself to look at you in the eyes, not without his bangs covering his eyes
As well as, very, extremely low self-esteem
