The Sims 3 - optimize the game, lessen lag, improve performance, reduce loading time, prevent corruption and file bloat.
In this section, we will compile tips and tricks in optimizing your game for a much better gameplay experience. Post is divided into following categories: clearing cache, essential mods, saving, cleaning saves, in-game tweaks + tips & tricks.
Before starting, we wholeheartedly recommend a thorough reading of the Steam community's Guide on the game's performance below:
Steam Community :: Guide :: The Sims 3 Performance & Bug Fix Guide 2023
Steam Community :: Guide :: The Sims 3 Enhanced Vanilla Graphics
Steam Community :: Guide :: The Sims 3 Enhanced Vanilla Game-Play
WARNING: Before attempting anything, we suggest backing up your The Sims 3 folder somewhere safe, in case of irreversible actions. Backing up is performed by copying your The Sims 3 folder, and pasting it somewhere safe (Desktop, another drive, external drive, etc.). Carl's Tutorial on Backup & Restore.
1. Clearing cache in The Sims 3 folder.
Caches are temporary files and folders created by the game, which contain the information to help your game load faster. Their accumulation over the time can be attributed to slower loading times and/or gameplay. These files are regenerated each time the game is started, so it is absolutely safe and normal to delete them.
In the following post, we thoroughly explained which files and folders are cache, and can be deleted:
Clearing cache
2. Essential mods for better gameplay
With the amount of official game packs, store and other custom content, a laggier & slower gameplay is inevitable. If you do not have a Mods folder, please refer to Carl's Guide on making Mods folder.
For a better performance and a long lasting save file, we're going to list absolutely necessary mods + what they do:
nraas - ErrorTrap - a core-mod intended to catch and correct data corruption errors that can render a save-game unloadable.
nraas - Overwatch - performs periodical clean up, usually around 3am in-game. Turns off unnecessary electronics, clears up inactive cars piling up, recovers missing Sims and wandering toddlers, checks stuck age-up problems and more.
nraas - MasterController - allows more advanced functions in-game. MasterController Cheats module is necessary for the ability to reset town in longer game sessions (City Hall > NRAAS > Master Controller > Town > Reset Everything). Action takes 5-10 minutes and resets every Sim and every object in town, contributes to resetting anything (or anyone) glitchy. We recommend once-a-Sim-week reset, and saving after such reset.
nraas - Register - allows the player to disable certain NPCs (service and role Sims) in the town. We suggest it for the ability to disable paparazzis, tourists, homeless Sims, stray animals, unicorns, wild horses, etc.
nraas - Traffic - ability to control (and reduce) the traffic (taxis, limos) and special trucks (Food truck, ice cream truck, pet ice cream truck).
nraas - Traveler - created in purpose of catching and correcting bugs and problems in EA's travel code. Allows the possibility of traveling between worlds players have installed.
nraas - Saver - a Saving prompt that comes up every 30 minutes by default. More explained in the Saving section below.
Mod The Sims - Smooth Patch 2.1 - created with intentions of smoother gameplay, less lag, shorter loading and smooth UI. IMPORTANT NOTE: SP versions 2.0 and up are NOT COMPATIBLE with NRAAS mods! For those who wish to use both, we recommend using SP versions 1.x with NRAAS mods + compatibility file provided by LazyDuchess.
Optional mods:
Mod The Sims - No (or fewer) automatic memories - Memories cause a huge amount of save-file bloat. There are three options to combat them: completely disabling memories in-game (below in in-game tips), using a flavor of this mod. Or using NRAAS Master Controller with Cheats (City Hall > NRAAS > Master Controller > Sim > Intermediate > Remove Memories).
Mod The Sims - simler90's Gameplay Core Mod - a core mod set to fix numerous in-game bugs. However, this mod IS NOT COMPATIBLE with several NRAAS mods such as: StoryProgression, GoHere, Traffic, Tagger, Careers, Traveler. To make CoreMOD work with NRAAS Overwatch, players need to follow (Step 4 of this guide) and properly edit the compatibility file.
3. Saving the game
Continuous use of the option Save over the same save-file (overwriting the data) quickly leads into file bloat and eventual corruption, and can help invoke ill-fated "error-code 12". Helping prevent these issues can be combatted by retorting to usage of Save As every often, and changing the save-file name. A way to do it is by writing (Town Name)(Household Name)(Number of save in order) - eg. Sunset Valley Smith 1. This also allows players to keep specific saves they deem important. nraas - Saver is a handy mod that prompts users to save the game under a new name every 30 minutes by default.
On another note - keeping the Saves folder (within TS3 folder) under 4GB is crucial for game performance. Our advice is to keep a minimum of saves in that folder. Others need to be transferred onto a hosting site, or an external device. All saves ending in .bad should be immediately deleted.
4. Cleaning save files
Cleaning save files is a step that should come after all of the previous ones. It's crucial to clean a file every now and then to rid it of unnecessary data, and prevent error-code 12 & 16 and/or corruption.
Mod The Sims - Regul Save Cleaner is currently the fastest, most reliable cleaner. After downloading it, unzip it and open the program. Within the program, open your Save file, check which boxes you wish to clean and click Clear. IMPORTANT NOTE: Back up your Saves before messing with any data within it. Step-by-Step cleaning is also described in step 10 of Steam Guide.
Another, albeit experimental, mean to clean your game using s3pe (from simlogical.com). This heavily detailed nraas - How to use S3PE to clean up your save-game guide shows you how to remove excess data piled by photographs, paintings, memories in-game. We repeat to back-up your save-files before doing anything to them.
5. In-game tweaks and settings
Settings and configurations in-game have a big impact on the gameplay. Depending on player's gaming system, tweaking their settings could speed up their performance. These can be found in game's menu (three dots) > Options. There are several tabs which have adjustable settings.
Graphics - this tab is meant for visual representation of the game. For faster, smoother playback, we recommend keeping the options to Medium (lower if the system can't handle it). Enabling Advanced Rendering, Enabling Animation Smoothing and High Detail Lots being set to a higher number can cause slower playback - adjust the boxes and number to your system's performance.
Sounds - audio options that entirely depend on the player.
General Settings - Things like edge scrolling, 12-hour clock and types of camera are player's choice. But we advise to disable shop mode, usage sharing, memories, lessons and Interactive Loading Screen. Latter can take up double-digit minutes of time in loading.
Game Options - in-game Sim & Pet autonomy and lifespans. All are player's choice.
Video Options - entirely dependent on the player and if they wish to capture anything in-game.
Music Options - list of in-game music.
Online - options to log in the game's website online and connect with other players. We recommend disabling online notifications and disabling Keep Me Logged In option.
Season & Environment - depending on which packs players have, this tab shows configurations for Seasons and Supernatural lunar cycle. The number of days per season can be changed, so can certain Seasons be disabled. Weather can be in Celsius or Fahrenheit. There are four types of weather offered - rain, hail, fog and snow. All but fog have a big impact on the game's performance, so players should disable them, or adjust them accordingly. Active Lunar cycle doesn't have much impact on the gameplay... except for those pesky Zombies during the Full Moon. That's why there's an ability to set the Lunar Cycle to one phase of player's choice, or keep it active per number of selected days.
Advanced Demographics Options - offer the ability to enable or disable built-in EA Story Porgression. Underneath that, depending on which packs player has, there are different categories to enable or disable. Vampires, Witches, Werewolves, Fairies, Pets, Horses and Celebrities. We recommend the player disables what they don't need in their current gameplay, or eventually everything if these Sim types are unneeded. Another option below is to Opt Active Household out of Celebrity System, which doesn't allow active household to gain celebrity points.
Guides we found useful to follow:

6. In-game tips & tricks
Many issues can also be combatted from the gameplay.
Frequent town reset with NRAAS Master Controller + Cheats,
Keeping less to no items in personal inventory + frequent clearing out of townies' inventory with NRAAS MC (City Hall > NRAAS > Master Controller > Town > Object Stats > Inventory).
With rewards like Collections Helper, Tears of Horus, it's best to keep their selector to None.
Items like Sultan's Tabernacle, Axe of Pangu and random relics are known to be stuck in inventory, and cause traveling issues. It's best to not purchase the items, or delete or sell them before traveling.
Speaking of travel, any trip to World Adventure countries, the Future or any other world with twallan's Traveler, it's best to pack light! Less to no items in personal inventory that could cause corruption.
Should your Sim visit a WA country once and never go back - you could remove the .nhd file, remembering you'll lose everything you had related to that country (relationships, etc) - back-up your save before doing this.
Gameplays should not last longer than a couple of hours. After at least two hours, it's time to save as, then quit. Clear your cache, remove unnecessary save files and leave the last one in. Restart the game.
Never go from one save into main menu and then open another save. This is a fertile ground for memory leak and early corruption.
Clearing saved Styles and Presets should also be done for faster loading of CAS/CASt, but back-up your previous files before this.
Regularly check and remove/uninstall custom content you don't need anymore.
Regularly re-download mods and replace them in the Mods folder, in case of possible corruption.
Move your Saved Sims from same-named folder to somewhere safe, then delete the originals.
Captured media (screenshots, videos) should be removed from their respective files to somewhere safe often.
Too much custom music can slow down the game. Files should be in .mp3, no more than 320kbps and in limited amount.
Save files and content files from Downloads folder should be backed up on external drives and cleared from The Sims 3 folder.
Some tips taken from nraas - TIPS FOR BETTER GAME PERFORMANCE, but we recommend reading it all through - they connect The Sims 3 folder, in-game options, your device options and how your device can be affected to cause problematic gameplay.

I made the little mod to remove the black alien eye overlay. It occurs to me know that it would be extra cool to be able to remove it in CAS too. I don’t know how to do this, and after I dug through the EA code for a while, I produced code that caused a three-page stack dump with ErrorTrap! I think I should get a badge for that.
If anyone can give me more information, I’d be thrilled. Otherwise, I’ll play a bit and release the gameplay-only override remover as it is.

Updated 25/01/2025:
The mod now requires Mono Patcher Library by Lazy Duchess.
Implemented Relationship Cap by Traits, a new optional feature that aims to make friendships a little more challenging by requiring Sims to learn traits in order to increase their relationship level.
Made some adjustments to the code, should prevent it from leaving behind garbage data that is otherwise harmless. NRaas ErrorTrap is good at catching these 'unhandled references' and eliminating them to reduce potential bloat, but I figured it was a good idea to make some improvements directly within the mod.
Fixed blank Night Owl strings (I could've sworn I already fixed this lol)
TS3: Get to Know Fix +
Tumblr media
This mod requires Lazy Duchess’ Mono Patcher Library to work properly!
This is a pure script mod that fixes some borked Get to Know functionality and incorporates some extra tweaks related to learning traits.
More info and download under the cut!
Its scope has expanded considerably since I first released it in 2022, so its functionality is divided in three main sections:
Get to Know Fix
In the vanilla game, learning another Sim's traits with the Get to Know interaction appears to be near-impossible unless your Sim has the Charismatic trait. This can lead to unnecessarily low compatibility and BFFs who know nothing about each other.
The reason why this happens seems to be a mistake where the game only accounts for Charismatic Sims' chances at learning traits through this interaction and forgets about pretty much everyone else. This part of the mod remedies that by making sure all Sims get their chance to learn other Sims' traits when performing Get to Know.
Get to Know Fix incorporates the following features:
All Sims will now have the possibility of learning about another Sim's traits when they Get to Know them based on their chances.
Sims who visit their descendants in Oasis Landing will use the correct chances of learning traits about their future family. Originally, the game only used the Charismatic chances, even if the Sim initiating the interaction doesn't have that trait.
Sims who have completed the Personable skill challenge get the advantage of a flat boost in their chance of learning traits. The game originally implied that Personable Sims could learn traits faster, but completing the challenge didn't actually favor them in any way.
The target of a Get to Know is able to learn one of the initiator's traits based on the chances they roll according to their own traits. This means that a Get to Know interaction can now result in either Sim learning the other Sim's trait, sometimes both, and sometimes neither. This way, Sims in inactive households will also be able to learn other Sims' traits. This feature can always be disabled via tuning.
More Discoverable Traits
By default, there are a series of traits that Sims are never able to learn through socializing no matter what. These traits include No Sense of Humor in the base game and many other traits from across all the Expansion Packs.
While mmsbludhound's Trait Discovery Fix has been around for a while and solves exactly that, it also comes with the downside that a blank notification will display when a Sim learns any of these traits. The More Discoverable Traits part of this mod is my own spin on this idea, plus some enhancements.
By default, the mod allows Sims to learn all the regular traits of other Sims, as well as a selection of hidden traits and Lifetime Rewards:
Hidden traits can be learned as long as they're fully suitable for gameplay, such as NPC-inherited traits. Sims will never be able to learn occult-related traits or traits with a special technical purpose. E.g., Pyromaniac is a discoverable trait, Junior Mascot is not.
Lifetime Rewards can be learned as long as they are trait-based and visible in the Lifetime Rewards panel. Object-based or occult-related Lifetime Rewards can never be discovered. E.g., Steel Bladder is a discoverable Lifetime Reward, Teleportation Pad is not.
All of the newly available traits properly display a notification when learned by a Sim.
Discovery of hidden traits and lifetime rewards can always be disabled via tuning.
Keep in mind that this mod doesn't make hidden traits visible in a Sim's traits panel, nor does it give Sims reward traits automatically. Without use of other mods, you still have to give your Sims these rewards manually before other Sims can discover them.
Relationship Cap by Traits
The mod makes it possible to prevent active Sims from progressing in their relationship if at least one of the Sims involved doesn't learn enough traits about the other, depending on their relationship level.
The number of traits a Sim is required to learn to improve their relationship is controlled by the minimum traits required for Friends, Good Friends and Best Friends in the mod's tuning. A custom notification will appear informing you when two Sims can't progress any further in their relationship.
This feature is disabled by default and can be toggled anytime via tuning.
There are a couple of caveats with this feature:
Though I've tried to make the capping as seamless as possible, the effects of it aren't instant; for instance, you may see two Sims go from Acquaintances to Friends for a second, and then back to Acquaintances.
While the relationship cap is enabled, relationship level can't be cheated normally (e.g. via testingcheats or NRaas Master Controller) as the mod will make it snap back to a lower level if it determines the Sims haven't learned enough traits about each other. If you intend to use the feature and want to cheat a Sim's relationship level, it's possible to work around this issue: - Disable the relationship cap by using the togglerelcap cheat. - Cheat the relationship level to your liking. - Run the autolearntraits cheat. - Re-enable the relationship cap with togglerelcap.
Auto Learn Traits
Two of my biggest gripes with the game’s trait discovery system are EA premade Sims not knowing any traits from Sims they share a relationship with, and inactive Sims around town never learning any new traits despite socializing and progressing in their relationships. These circle right back to the old issue of Sims not knowing anything about their friends and romantic partners.
I’ve written Auto Learn Traits to solve those annoyances by assigning learned traits to all Sims in town and allowing inactives to continue learning traits as they interact with each other:
All residents who have a relationship with each other will have a number of known traits assigned between them the first time a save is loaded with the mod installed.
Homeless Sims will also have known traits assigned for each of their relationships as the game instantiates them.
Inactive Sims will discover more traits from other Sims as their relationship changes through normal gameplay.
Inactive working Sims will periodically learn traits from their boss and coworkers based on their relationship.
Multiple factors are taken into account when assigning known traits between two Sims:
Each relationship status has a tunable minimum and maximum of traits that can be discovered. Sims who don't know each other too well won't be able to learn as many traits as Sims who have been friends for a while.
The relationship level between Sims modifies the number of traits that will be discovered. Sims with a lower relationship level will learn up to the minimum traits, and Sims with a higher relationship will learn up to the maximum traits.
Sims who live together get a tunable flat scoring boost that makes it possible for them to learn more traits than they normally would. This value works in conjunction with the relationship level of the Sims involved; higher relationships can learn more traits.
Sims who have shared or conflicting traits are more likely to learn those traits depending on whether their relationship is positive or negative. The chances of this happening are tunable.
After the known traits have been assigned, the pair of Sims will have a tunable cooldown lasting 168 hours (7 days) that prevents them from learning more traits until the time is up, which keeps them from reaching the max available traits too fast.
Auto Learn Traits can always be disabled via tuning.
Tuning
You can customize many of the features of this mod by opening up the .package file in s3pe and editing the Tuning XML resource in a text editor of your choice.
There are a ton of tunables; I’ve tried my best to organize them neatly and include clear descriptions about what each one does so that you can easily tweak the mod to your liking.

Compatibility
If you have an older version of Get to Know Fix, More Discoverable Traits and/or Higher Chances of Learning Traits, please delete the package files before installing this mod!
This mod is now fully compatible with tuning mods that edit the Traits, SocialComponent or TraitTuning resources in GameplayData. My mod will apply its changes over any XML mods that you have installed, so they can coexist without any conflicts. The only caveat is that if you have a mod that specifically edits the chances of learning traits, you should edit my mod's tuning to reflect that in order to make my mod read the values you want to use.
This mod is redundant with mmsbludhound's Trait Discovery Fix. Get to Know Fix does the same things that Trait Discovery Fix does, and then some. If you want to use this mod, you should delete that one.
Custom traits are unaffected by this mod.

I was wondering...
Okay, so this might be an ignorant question since I’m still trying to figure out the basics of script/core modding  so I apologize, but I was wondering: Is it somehow possible to extract certain features/coding from a mod package to add into your own personal package or add it as a “tweak” to another mod?
For example: Darkpool’s Hospital Mod has cool features such as Marriage Counseling and Psychotherapy that Sims MX’s Hospital Mod doesn’t, but you have to choose only one of the two. I’d like Marriage Counseling and Psychotherapy in my game, but I couldn’t find it as a separate mod. Also, The Kinky World Mod has a menstrual cycle along with weed, drug use I’d like for a realistic gameplay, but I’ve heard that mod conflicts with many lifesaving Nraas mods such as Overwatch and Errortrap. (plus some of the features on that mod freak me out and are not my cup of tea lol.)
It this possible? Or am I asking and hoping for too much?

My depotatoed gardener looks hot and works hard; alas, he bugs out every now and then and resets. If I'm lucky he travels back to lot and continues to work. I get this error from ErrorTrap's logs:
System.NullReferenceException: A null value was found where an object instance was required. #0: 0x001a1 throw in Awesome.Awesome.Motivator:Update (Sims3.Gameplay.Autonomy.Autonomy) ([3D466EE0] ) #1: 0x00001 call in Sims3.Gameplay.Autonomy.Sims3.Gameplay.Autonomy.Autonomy:Update () () #2: 0x00290 callvirt in Sims3.Gameplay.Actors.Sims3.Gameplay.Actors.SimUpdate:Simulate () () #3: 0x00027 leave.s in ScriptCore.ScriptCore.ScriptProxy:Simulate () ()
I found in an old thread on MATY that it's just corruption. In Pescado's own words:
This is one of those mystery errors that, as best as I can tell, really has nothing to do with AwesomeMod since that particular piece of code is pretty much exactly the same as the EAxian version and does not contain anything different that could generate a nullref error, meaning it's the EAxis code that is causing that. The Awesome version actually has far MORE error trapping than the EAxian version, so you'd get this same error without it.
Basically, it means the sim in question is just plain corrupted.
😭 Even if I delete him and get a new one, it's highly likely that the same thing will happen again. An unamusing work-around would be to save right before the gardener comes and wait until he leaves before saving again - and he wouldn't reset. *From the mod's own comments thread.

NRAAS MasterController: This mod adds countless options that allow you to easily control and change just about anything about Sims in your town. Featuring a robust filter system to allow you to find the Sims you want to target and execute actions on.
NRAAS Master Controller Cheats Module: This mod includes the more advanced, and therefore "cheaty" aspects of MasterController. This is an optional module of MasterController, and as such you must have the base-mod installed for this module to work properly.
NRAAS Master Controller Expanded Tattoo: This mod increases the number of tattoo locations available when using the "Basic/Tattoo" interaction in the base-mod. Note you will also need cmar_XCAS_TattooLocations_V2.zip for the expanded tattoo locations to show up.
NRAAS Master Controller Integration: This mod replaces all the CAS interactions in the game with the one managed by Master Controller, including the "Create-A-Sim" button in "Edit Town". This is necessary if you want to overstuff your households and still want the "Add Sim" and "Pollinate" options to work despite having 8+ Sims.
NRAAS Master Controller Progression: This mod adds progression related interactions to the "Master Controller" menu. This is an optional module of Master Controller AND Story Progression thus you must have both base-mods installed for this module to work and to prevent a main menu crash.
NRAAS Careers: This mod is used to load custom careers into the game. It is also possible to load custom book lists, custom skills, and standing social interactions. You are still limited to the the set provided by EA (totally new opportunities would require script coding), but you now have the ability to customize and add variations of those events to your custom careers.
NRAASCareers Data Unemployed: Let's me give the "unemployed" career to people without the game auto-finding them a job.
NRAAS Consigner: This mod replaces the "Buy" interaction on the Consignment Register with one that allows the sale of potions, gems, rocks, metals, insects, relics, and sketches.. If you have Pets installed, a new interaction called "Sell Pet" will be added to each consignment, general store, and pet store register in town. A new standing social interaction has also been added called "Sell Pet", available between friends, that allows the transfer of pets for profit.
NRAAS DebugEnabler: Basically developer tools for TS3. One of my favorite NRAAS mods!
NRAAS Errortrap: This is a core-mod intended to catch and correct data corruption errors that can render a save-game unloadable. Any corruption errors that can not be corrected will be trapped and logged, allowing the save-game to load regardless. Unhandled script errors may be posted on the forum for review and possible repair.
NRAAS GoHere: This mod replaces the "Go Here" interaction, with one that can be stacked in the queue, allowing the user to better direct the route of a sim. It also makes inactive Sims less likely to go home, restores haunting ghosts in the grave yard, fixes common routing errors and adds a robust set of door locking features.
NRAAS Mover: Makes the moving system generally better. Also allows you to control how much money a Sim takes when they split from a household.
NRAAS Overwatch: The primary purpose of this mod is to act as a periodic clean up system for correcting errors and eliminating junk that accumulates over a regular play-session.
NRAAS Porter: This mod adds a custom version of the import and export system used to create Library families. With this, it is possible to transfer entire towns worth of sims, preserving relationships across households, and reducing the amount of manual intervention required afterward.
NRAAS Portrait Panel: This mod changes the Portrait Panel to display a maximum of 24 sim portraits, useful for playing overstuffed families. Clicking a portrait with the middle mouse button will now bring up the sim menu. Similarly, double clicking on a portrait will do the same (for those of you sans middle mouse buttons).
NRAAS Register: This mod alters the rules governing role assignment in the game, allowing sims to maintain regular careers without losing their roles. In addition, it provides the ability to select which sim you want to perform specific roles in town. I use it to control how many stray animals I have in my town, as well as the disabling of world tourists.
NRAAS Relationship Panel: This mod changes the Relationship Panel. Changes have also been made to correct the "red box" relationship error that occurs when the window bounces while displaying certain types of sims.
NRAAS Retuner: This mod provides the ability to alter which interactions are autonomous and/or user-directed via an in-game interface, both ITUN and SocialData based. It also allows altering the value of most non-table-based tunable fields normally available in _XML tuning.
NRAAS Tempest: This mod provides a more detailed approach to controlling weather on a town-by-town basis, providing the ability to adjust weather profiles on an daily basis during any particular season.
NRAAS Traveler: This mod replaces the travel code, and re-enables the script error logging. If the travel system fails, the logs will make things easier to track down the issue and repair it. It also has the capability to load any World as a Vacation destination.
NRAAS Woohooer: This mod alters the romantic game systems allowing for more relaxed rules when compared to EA's. With added trait scoring, things like jealousy make more sense. It also allows for teen woohoo and pregnancy along with risky woohoo.
NRAAS Woohooer Kama Simtra Module: This is a custom skill to facilitate tracking of woohooing. It also gives the option to woohoo for money. You must have the original mod, NRAAS Woohooer, as this is an add-on.
NRAAS Story Progression: This mod is a non-core story progression replacement. The EA story progression will be disabled by this mod, and a new, hopefully better, system is started in its place.
NRAAS Hybrid: This mods updates interactions and game systems to properly handle having occult hybrids.
ALL mods below are add-ons for NRAAS Story Progression and thus require the base mod, NRAAS Story Progression, to work!
NRAAS Story Progression Career Module: This module contains the expanded career scenarios for use with Story Progression, which includes (but is not limited to): Custom commuting, Assigning custom schools, Custom Graduation and Prom systems.
NRAAS Story Progression Cops and Robbers Module: Contains the Robin, Cat, Vigilante, and Kingpin personalities.
NRAAS Story Progression Extras Module: This module contains the expanded scenarios of Story Progression.
NRAAS Story Progression Lovers Module: Contains the Bike, Casanova, Gigolo, and Tart personalities.
NRAAS Story Progression Meanies Module: Contains the Brat, Bully, Thug, and Harpy personalities.
NRAAS Story Progression Money Module: This module contains the expanded money scenarios for use with Story Progression, which includes (but is not limited to): Inheritance, Loans, Billing for the whole town, Purchases of Vehicles, Sales of excess inventory.
NRAAS Story Progression Others Module: Contains the Loon, Mooch, Nerd, and Magnate personalities.
NRAAS Story Progression Population Module: This module contains the expanded population control scenarios for use with Story Progression, which includes (but is not limited to): Newborn/Roommate/Service Sim Genetics, Inactive Adoption, Emigration.
NRAAS Story Progression Relationship Module: This module contains the expanded relationship scenarios for use with Story Progression, which includes (but is not limited to): Gathering scenarios (aka inactive parties), Expanded Friendship and Enemy scenarios, Romantic Affairs.
NRAAS Story Progression Skill Module: This module contains the expanded skill scenarios for use with Story Progression, which includes (but is not limited to): Skill Controls (whether to allow skilling or not), Pushes related to skill gain for inactives.
Routing Fix Mods
Route Fix v9 Mods: This mod reduces the amount of time sims will stand around with their thumb up their butt trying to figure out how to get where they are going, checking for obstacles, and waiting on other sims to move before going around them. Requires a Sims Asylum account.
Interaction on Sloped Terrain: This mod enables Sims to perform most interactions on sloped terrains.
Fix: Sims need less Space: Sims need half of the space for all interactions, which vastly improves routing in small spaces
Fix: Pets need less Space: This mod makes your pets (cats, dogs, horses) need half of the space for all interactions.

Sims will choose to sit at the nearest table or counter, which is closest to the place where the food is located, that they pick up and if there are no other sims seated somewhere else, or there is not enough room for them where others are at. Requires a Sims Asylum account.

Camera Mods
Fast Change Camera Mod: Removes flying across world when changing Sims to allow faster access to Sim you are playing.
Thumbnail Camera Edits: This mod contains some edits to the INI files that control the camera positioning the game uses for generating thumbnails. The changes can be seen across various game modes, such as the Sim Bin in CAS, the Live Mode HUD, the notifications panel, the Online Dating App, the adoption screen, and more.

How to get the Sims 3 to run smoother: A written guide
If you’ve played The sims 3 for any length of time, then you know that getting this game to run properly is a pain. Even on a good gaming computer, the sims 3 is a hot mess. Well, I’m going to help you fix that!
First, before you get into this guide, please check and see if your computer meets the system requirements.
https://www.thesims3.com/game/systemreq
If your computer doesn’t meet the system requirements, then I can’t help you. Now that that’s out of the way let’s get into this.
So the sims 3 is a great game, but it was coded very poorly. Even on a good gaming computer, the game needs help. There are so many problems with this game that Ea never addressed which makes the game very hard to run. Well my friend, NRAAS just became your new best friend when it comes to The Sims 3.
What is NRAAS?
Nraas is a set of mods designed to fix The Sims 3. These mods address several issues that EA just couldn’t be bothered to fix.
How do I install mods?
Well my friend, Mod the sims has a very handy guide for you.
http://modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Installing_Sims_3_Package_Files/Setup_and_Files
What NRAAS mods would you recommend for those just starting out with mods?
For those just starting out with nraas, I recommend three mods: Error Trap, Over watch, and Master Controller. These three mods are essential for anyone playing the sims 3.
http://nraas.wikispaces.com/ErrorTrap
http://nraas.wikispaces.com/Overwatch
http://nraas.wikispaces.com/MasterController
If your computer can handle it, then I also recommend nraas story progression, as Ea’s story progression is a hot mess.
http://nraas.wikispaces.com/StoryProgression
If you have generations, then you may have noticed that your save files have become a lot bigger than they used to be. This is because of the memories feature. This feature is unfortunately a hot mess, and you’re better off disabling it all together. This mod will help you do that.
http://modthesims.info/d/446281
If you have world adventures, then you may have noticed that the traveling feature is a hot mess. Often times when your sims travel, you just lost that save file. Well my friend, nraas traveler just became your new best friend. Also, your sims can now travel to worlds that didn’t come with world adventures. How cool is that?
http://nraas.wikispaces.com/Traveler
Do you often forget to save? Do you play your game for hours only to have it crash and lose several hours of game play? Well my friend nraas saver is for you.
http://nraas.wikispaces.com/Saver
One last thing. If you’ve been playing your game in full screen mode, then I highly recommend putting it in windowed mode. This will help your game a lot.
