Hi do you know any itasasu fics that don’t have them as brothers or at least don’t focus on the fact that there brothers

Hi! Uhm the fact that they're brothers is what makes itasasu ITASASU and not another pairing, the only fics I remember is Sucker Love (link) where if I'm not mistaken they're not brothers...I'm sure there are gen fics about them but I haven't read them, sorry.

Tbh I haven't followed naruto fics in years cause I'm a bad person, according to fandom purity standards...why? because I can still separate fiction from reality, I can still read unhealthy dynamics, problematic things and all the things that people "do not condone" without feeling ashamed or afraid to suddenly become a monster (it's because fiction is still not reality), so with this problematic mentality, totally unfit for fandoms these days, I'm afraid I'll mostly find puritan healthy fics (that do not even fit with the naruto universe lol) so I stay the hell away from everything, just in case :)

Kakashi doesn't think twice before rushing to Sasuke’s side. He doesn't even register that Sasuke’s finally home. His mind is filled with Pup's hurt. Pup's hurt. Pup's hurt.

Sasuke’s putty on his hands. He folds and bends and moves however Kakashi wants him to.

It's worrying.

Eventually, he does get Sasuke stitched and cleaned up and on his bed. That's when he learns something quite surprising— Sasuke is cuddly. He holds onto Kakashi and pulls him impossibly close.

Something he does remember about Sasuke is that he's cranky in the mornings. But, when he's cuddled up, glaring at Kakashi from under the covers. Especially since he still melts into Kakashi’s touch.

“You only get a few more minutes. I'll make us some breakfast.”

Sasuke grumbles something in response, but Kakashi doesn't pay it any attention. Sasuke’s home, and that's all that matters.

Okay. So people be pissing me off. So I'll just say what I wanna say here. I've seen so many people flipping out about certain ships- not because they're bad but by morality. Which is logical and absolutely a good thing.

However, one type of annoyingness that has been especially grating is that which i hear of KakaNaru, KakaSaku and KakaSasu. Look, as long as the characters ARENT UNDERAGE it shouldn't fucking matter.

And it really annoys me to see so many people calling those shippers horrible because they ship a large age gap pair.

If they're shipping the 12-13 year old versions with Kakashi -or older persons, then yes ew. Bad. Don't fucking do that.

But if they're above the age of consent then why the hell would it matter?? The age of consent is meant to state when a person is reasonably responsible enough to decide who they want to have relationships with. Other people have no say.

Shipping in itself is kind of fun right? I don’t really do it a lot myself especially not in ‘Naruto’ (I do enjoy reading fan-fiction outside of SNS, like SNK, Haikyuu, DN and BNHA) and I don’t consider SNS a ship or any “already mutual romantic connection” to be ships either. 

So yes, NH/SS are ships to me.

Naruto and Sasuke may not be in a relationship, but for a majority of their lives they’ve been aware of the other and have started to try and give meaning to whatever it is that they’ve been feeling so strongly about.

“Shipping” all of that sounds a bit.. underwhelming to say the least. Hence me calling myself a SNS-fan.

Now..

NaruSaku, SasuHina, SakuIno, SakuHina, InoHina, KakaSaku, KakaSasu, KakaNaru, KakaIru, NaruSasuSaku, ItaSaku, ItaSasu, ItaNaru, KakaGai, NaruGaa, LeeSaku, KakaObi, ObiSaku, GaaLee, OroSasu, .. I can go on and on.. 

Some of these are disturbing even if some hc’s are cute and some I have a problem with for other reasons. Written in fan-fiction, there are some I don’t mind.

I wouldn’t necessarily say I “dislike” them though, because just like these aren’t established romantic relationships as written by Kishimoto, neither is NH/SS. 

They just aren’t.

The only difference between them is that NH/SS got the title ‘canon’, because Naruto had to marry.. sorry, -married Hinata. And Sasuke.. married Sakura? I guess? They say? Signed some paper along the way? Lol? And therefore they became marketing material, but nothing emotionally had been established either way. Fight me on it. 

A title means shit all.

And that is the reason why I dislike NH/SS as ships, but not the others. 

Because that’s just what it is.. ships. Something that you’re supposed to do for fun, but how is it ‘fun’ when you have to dumb down the main characters (yes, yes this includes Sakura and Hinata) and their development to suit your head-canon’s? To glorify your heterosexual view, “because that’s the only way things should go especially since it’s Shonen”. Or to put other characters they can insert themselves into (for whatever reason) on a pedestal so they can “shine” who frankly aren’t as significant in the story (“damn that Kishimoto”) as they'd like to see?

And if all of that doesn’t sound ‘fun’ enough, how about arguing for it with straight up false claims and misleading information that all the dude-bro’s and sisters will back them up with on the first 3 Google links that are none other than Reddit and Quora. 

See? There’s the difference. And that << I dislike about NH/SS as ships. 

Well-.. that and Hinata Hyuuga.. I have to be honest. *nods* 

But it’s not just all the fandom, because the marketing team keeps feeding this fight which I wrote about here < 

Anyway, no, I don’t dislike ships generally. NH/SS are just.. very special. Though some ‘Naruto’-ships that this fandom comes up with are a little interesting in their own way.

Probably the fact that despite everything he's passed, he's still kind in his own way. Watching him care and worry for his students is especially my favorite thing, but also everything else as well. The goofiness that most people don't even realize is there, his friendship with Gai, his super hot calculating, serious and tactical side.

Yeah sadly there are definitely some really popular disgusting ships in the fandom, especially with the girls. I remember Nejihina being very popular back in the day. And Ino got shipped with Asuma and Hidan a lot too. Sakura had it worst I suppose with people shipping her with Kakashi, Sasori, Madara and a bunch of other adult males (on that note I’m so glad that least no one tried to make Sakura and Tsunade a thing, I would have raged so hard).

this old ask has Kakashi+geninSas fic recommendations, they’re all very old and ‘problematic’ for today’s fans’ standards, but who am I kidding, even older Sas’ fics are problematic for them.

This has Kakashi+Sasuke but not geninSas ones. There are many and they’re quite old and not all of them are as IC as I’d like them. Back then I wasn’t picky.

I mean why you said I don’t support Sasuke out of Konoha? Cause that’s what I’d like for him. I'd just like Sasuke to travel with Team Taka because imo Juugo, Suigetsu and Karin are the best friends and comrades he can have. Team Taka is the best team. They were always there for him, they spoke their mind freely when they disagreed with him but they never judged him or try to change him, they always supported him no matter what. So I’d have wanted him to stay with them and travel, helping those in need because he always does it even though he doesn’t brag about it. Having Orochimaru as a mentor from a distance, kinda helping them if they get in bigger trouble, cause when they fought in the war it’s what he had done.

Who he ends up with is not the most important thing, I mean shipping is cool and I'm not like some pretentious fans who don't ship and kinda act morally superior, but for the ending it's not like you need an endgame pairing. In fact it's better to leave an open ending where anyone can imagine their favourite. With limits ofc. No canon pairings bullshit, no forced heterosexual pairings that only are there to make babies for new shitty generation. Nope.

But like I said here and here and here Team Taka pairings are cool and I’d like them, especially Suisasu and Juusasu. Heterosexual pairings are weak in Nar but Sasukarin would have been better than any other Sasuke het pairing (but Suikarin is cooler imo).

Was yours an ask about Sasuke staying in Konoha and choosing a pairing for him in that context?

I’d choose Kakashi, like I wrote here and here. Kakasasu is my first Nar ship and I love it very much despite every negative and controversial detail. A post ending KS would be cool.

Nar*sasu is kinda classic but if done in a way I like, which is not denying its dark sides and Nar’s possessive and imposing personality would be ok. My NS tag.

I mentioned rare pairings, including Konoha, here. I find interesting Shikamaru/Sasuke especially, and, kinda, Sai/Sasuke. Het pairings are not interesting bc Konoha girls’ personalities are not as interesting as guys’.

Hi! What is exactly the popular one between a sunshine/extrovert character and cool/introvert character? Is it extrovert x introvert (sun x moon) or introvert x extrovert (moon x sun)?

I think I read hear that the most common one should have been sun x moon, since you said that most "sun" characters are tops, but I often see that it's usually sunshine characters that are usually bottoms?

First of all I think encasing pairing into these dynamics only makes the pairings boring and OOC. No wonder a lot of fanfics are uhh, boring and ooc, especially if authors and/or readers look at what's more popular to have more readers, instead at what they like lol...sorry. I had to say it since you asked my opinion.

What I wrote about sun and moon applies to Naruto and Sasuke because they are portrayed as sun (Naruto) and moon (Sasuke) and since yin/yang is mentioned too, and yin=passive while yang=active it becomes submissive/passive-moon-yin=Sasuke and dominant/active-sun-yang=Naruto. Not just because of some abstract parallel but because NAruto is dominant and active while Sasuke is passive. Not to mention it only takes a second to google yin yang and see what they correspond and do the remaining math for sun and moon. (I'm not saying this in a negative way against you ofc, I'm talking in general, sorry if it's badly worded).

idk what is more popular, again, because for me what matters is what is in character, so even if apparently ppl say Sas*naru is more popular than Nar*sasu it's still out of character and gross so who cares about popularity?

Besides, I'm not sure if you want to know which dynamic is more popular? Cause Idk what is popular because I am not up to date with new manga and anime. Or shows. But like I said when I look at 2 characters I don't always apply the same dynamic for top/bottom....My preference is extravert top/introvert bottom, but since I like complex angsty bullshit lol, I like 'sunshine' characters to have some darkness inside, and to not be really sunshine. Like Naruto himself, whose dynamic with Sasuke is interesting because he's not the ball of sunshine only.

But there are so many amazing pairings where this extravert/introvert thing doesn't even exist. Where both are introverts, or both extravert. Personally I ship a lot of pairings with both introverts, like Kakasasu, Itasasu, Juusasu. Or, in a different anime like Psycho Pass, I ship Ginoza x Kogami and both are introvert.

Back to introvert&extravert pairings though, what's popular for other ppl depend on other ppl, how strong they self insert in one or the other, how they thirst on one or the other, who knows. For me it depends on their personalities, like, ok, one is an extravert and one is an introvert, but which one is angstier? which one is more submissive? which one has a lower self-esteem? which one is more sacrificial? which one is more dominant? which one is more adaptable? which one follows the other? Which one defies the other, yet doesn't leave them because they hold the other in high esteem? All these characteristics are different from character to character and they make me 'see' which one is which.

For example, Bleach. Byakuya is introvert, Renji is extravert. Idk what's more popular but for me Byakuya is dominant and confident, and Renji, who follows (and at the same time defies) Byakuya and wants to be aknowledged by him, who's extravert and cheerful but has an angsty inner world and low self esteem, so he's more ready to 'submit' to the other.

On the other hand No.6, an anime I liked a lot for the plot, but whose pairing dynamic I find meh, cause extravert Shion is too unrealistically sunshine, while introvert Nezumi is cool, but seeing this extremely dominant top Nezumi with innocent sunshine bottom Shion, is just very boring and the only interesting part is when he goes berserk.

Or idk, Mo Dao Zu Shi (which I never finished and I should, lol to give you an idea of how behind I am with everything)...in the beginning I thought it was more natural that uh, Wei Wuxian was top and Lan Wangji bottom, but the more the story progressed the more the opposite seemed more natural for my perception. But again, I didn't finish and I didn't see which was popular.

Some characters I just can't see as bottoms, never. Like Naruto himself. Or I can't see as tops, like Sasuke.

Why do you like Kakasasu?

I waited to reply to this because I wanted to be sure it wasn’t a troll and it wasn’t a drama starting attempt (like this or this, gems found in the sasuke/KS tag) since it’s a subject I am very interested in.

I replied to Kakashi/Sasuke related asks, shippy or not shippy, here, here and here. More about them here, here and here. Put yourself comfortable cause this is gonna be long. Not putting it under a readmore cause I remember ppl complaining they coulnd’t open it on mobile phones (?). Also, moralists who are lurking: don’t interact, get out of my blog. Youll be blocked on sight.

When I started reading N*ruto I was into Bleach a lot, and the fact that the characters were a little older and looked older made me not get into Nar that much at first, because they looked like kiddies lol. I didn’t care about Nar as a character and his initial rivalry with Sas was cute but not enough to get me interested. Only when Kakashi got closer to Sasuke I started being veery interested in the story and in the characters. What I found intriguing was that Kakashi was older and an authority figure, but also someone to look up and who helped his students, BUT at the same time he wasn’t exactly a father-like figure or a big brother-like figure, because he had his dark side, that back then wasn’t well flashed out but that nevertheless showed a closed-off person who kept everything inside, not letting others get too close to him.

(then I started liking N*rusasu mostly because there were so many cool doujinshi especially Emi10/Rankai and Engawaken, while KS doujinshi were so meh, kinda in old yaoi style like Loveless, with tiny Sas who looked even younger hahaha, not my thing)

As those who know my blog and/or my writing know already, I am not interested in healthy, cute, positive dynamics in fiction. I might enjoy them, I might be happy when there are such moments, but I can’t like a whole relationship/dynamic/story only like this because I like to explore complicated ones in fiction.Because fiction is very useful for this, it makes you explore dark, taboo things, without affecting reality (no matter what idiots say), it’s cathartic, it’s a way to do, see, experience things without doing anything.

Back to topic tho, I found their initial dynamic very intriguing. A broken, traumatized yet extremely driven Sasuke, acting as confident and strong as he can, but showing his trauma in various occasions, otherwise being mostly aloof, lost in his own thoughts, and a differently broken Kakashi, acting chill but at the same time always ready to act when needed, yet always kinda distracted, aloof, lost in his owh thoughts (and later we’ll know he took Obito’s mannerisms because he was a stickler to rules). The way Kakashi takes a special interest for Sasuke, clearly the most driven, the best of the team, with whom he holds back much less (when he trains them, like when in the beginning, during the bell test, he fights with Sas and seeing that he almost took it, he overpowers him) while he is different with the others (Nar will have Jiraiya later). The way he protects Sasuke during the chuunin exams, while he’s in the hospital and Kabuto is trying to kill him.

Mostly, the controversial moments...like I said I live for these kind of things. where he both protects and threatens him...like when he does that seal to Sasuke, for his curse mark, and he tells him that if that curse mark takes over he’ll kill him. Or when he ties Sasuke up so he won’t join Orochimaru.

Before someone says bs like *you’re not Sas fan if you like that scene* (I know there are many like this and I want all of them out of my blog btw) uh, it’s not how it works guys. You can support a character and still be intrigued by scenes where said character is tied up/in a forcibly submitted position and so on. Guess what, some of those scenes are made for fanservice even (and Sas has many of these, so if you don’t see the appeal/refuse to admit that there is appeal, it’s you who have a problem). So even tho I disagree with Kakashi not wanting to listen to Sasuke’s reasons for revenge (and later supporting SHikamaru’s, I replied to this in one of the asks I linked) I do find that scene interesting...I mean Sasuke tied up in a very suggestive way and yet defying him and threatening to kill his loved ones and Kakashi opening up in a very weird way vaguely replying that he lost those ppl already? It shows a lot about them, their personalities, everything.

I am sticking to part 1 because there are more meaningful interactions between them, I wished there were more in part 2 but kishi shifted Kakashi’s ‘interest’ to Nar, making him one of Nar’s followers...even so, the intractions they had were very interesting. Their fight after Sasuke fights Danzo is one of my fave moments in the whole story tbh, much more than the later confrontation with Nar. Kakashi for the first time has an inner only, yet strong, emotional reaction, having to fight and supposedly kill his former student who became a rogue with a death sentence on his head...he realizes this is how Hiruzen felt against Orochimaru. It’s a strong realization from someone like him who was always so closed off and aloof that he totally lacked empathy.

On the other hand Sasuke is in a different mindset. He’s sort of high for having succeeded in eliminating the one who made Itachi suffer so much, he’s thinking about killing the elders and destroy the village, so he’s basically lost in the recent past of Danzo’s death and in the future plans he’s making, he’s not in the present moment almost...but he has to fight anyway, and it’s a cool fight, also because he’s weakened already and Kakashi is strong...and then he gets blind, totally, and it’s an amazingly intriguing moment, the kind of controversial stuff I’m interested in, because that’s when he could be totally overpowered by Kakashi, if the story didn’t have other priorities (putting Nar in the center of attention with their confrontation).

Their later moments, like during the war, are meh cause the interest shifted already completely, but their moments in jail (anime only ofc) and their Shinden interactions (only through messages) are interesting to me. Very much so, because they show power dynamics very well, with Kakashi as THE authority and Sasuke as the one submitted. In jail it’s even more evident with him looking down at the younger tied up and blindfolded...like, wow. It’s like fanfiction material (in fact I wrote one (ff.net/a03) and there was the coolest fanart inspired by it! here..there were more but this came on my dash today so).

You mentioned power dynamics...their dynamics are all power dynamics because Kakashi was never at Sasuke’s same level and he never acted like he was, and when Sasuke was stronger, during the war, they basically didn’t interact, and when the war was over and Sasuke was brainwashed and tamed into submission the power dynamic remained the same.

The difference imo between them and other power dynamics based pairings is that they are closer than what could be defined rare pairings such as Obito (they had a very interesting one tho, if only it was developed), Madara (the story was already developed in a pro Konoha-anti Uchiha way but it would have been so cool to have the 2 Uchiha interact more), or other older and stronger characters, so the dynamic could be written in a cool way in a fanfiction but in canon Kakashi created it already. So, while I can imagine something like Shisui/Sasuke, Obisasu or more, in my head, and I can come up with some AU or canon divergent/canon behind the screen (like when Sas stayed with Obito after the transplant), Kakashi and Sasuke had canon interactions that showed power dynamics already.

(Then there is Itasasu, which is a huge power dynamic based relationship, that also had amazingly strong feelings though, and those who know me know that for me Itachi will always be Sasuke’s most loved person, and that he was the same for Itachi. So ofc imo IS is a much stronger bond compared to KS but still. Also I remember in the beginning how many fics I read where Itachi was abusive to Sas and Kakashi stepped in lol. And it’s not a mystery that even though I think the IS bond is the strongest I find other pairings and character dynamics very interesting, so much that I like to explore them even more than IS, which, imo, is almost a given fact so I don’t always feel the need to explore it)

Another thing I find intriguing is that Kakashi always saw Sas at his ‘worst’...in Konoha’s terms I mean. When he wanted revenge in pt 1, after he killed Danzo and he was weak and so desperate and hysterical that they thought he got crazy, when he was jailed. It’s a big power he has, to be able to see someone like this.

Tbh it’s a pity that there were no post war moments (B*ruto shit doesn’t count) where they interact ‘normally’ cause I would have liked to see them, both as normal interactions where they get closer again, now that Sas is older, where they train and they get physical (and Kakashi has a lot of repressed anger, jealousy and possessiveness to let out on the one who betrayed his sensei and went to another...not my opinion but it could be Kakashi’s pov) because I think power dynamic would come up a lot, even from apparently cute moments.

I’ll end this super long essay hoping that you didn’t fall asleep lol, and adding that Kakasasu was the first Nar pairing I shipped, which it speaks a lot about why I get so irritated when someone mentions it negatively.

How would you feel if the all the Sasuke fans among your circle stopped making content? (includes discussion, headcannons, fanart, fanfic etc). Its disheartening already to see the pink trash and her gremlin "new uch!ha family" thriving instead. The remaining anti ending Sasu fans active in fandom is limited at this point.

Sadly this has more or less already happened so more than a ‘what if’ it’s a real thing. What’s absurd is that a bad ending should have given a boost to ‘fix-it’ fanworks, or canon divengent ones, or any kind of rare pairing and anything different from canon, instead the opposite happened. There are no more rarepair fanworks, only canon shit or popular pairing ones. Maybe because of the pressure (=harassment) canon shippers forced on authors and artists, which made no sense cause people can do whatever they want but apparently this fandom is made of dumbasses who think that kishi cared and is even offended to see an orosasu fanart made by some random fan at the other side of the world, or any other thing lol. They sent hate to those who didn’t do canon fanworks and maybe their harassment worked. Which sucks.

Besides, a lot of people ends up getting used, then liking the new shit because they are exposed to it. Even antis. They start liking the kid because she has no fault and all that shit, then they like uncle Itachi, then dad Sasuke, then they erase S*kura from the picture and are magically ok with it. As if the kid wasn’t a result of SS. I’ll never get over this kind of reasoning so I removed myself from it completely. Ofc I can’t avoid seeing fanfics, fanarts and shit about them. Especially on pixiv the Sasuke tag is 99% ‘new family’ or gross SS porn. And the remaining 1% is gross random porn. I made a twitter account only because I was told that the good Asian artists are all there, and I did find cool stuff, Sasuke-centric stuff, mostly Nar*sasu ones, a Kakasasu one and some Itasasu. There is also dark Sasuke-centric stuff, which is cool. Too bad I don’t like how twitter works so I log in like every 3 months, check out stuff, ask permissions just in case, silence what artists retweet (so next time I’ll have to see less crap on my dash), and leave. 

Tumblr isn’t better, in fact it’s worse. Because the remaining anti ending Sasu fans are mostly wannabe social justice warriors with no critical thinking, who are just able to post crappy meme or ‘justice for sasuke’ oneliner posts with no other arguments, and tbh when they do come up with reasonings ugh, it’s real world ethics badly applied to fiction so I don’t want to get involved with it. I mean to each their own, and I guess it’s cultural, but I didn’t just block SS blogs, also Sasuke blogs playing hypocrite morality police (which is stupid also because Sasuke is the most open minded and tolerant character in the show..but ok) and SN/S or NS blogs only accepting this pairing as ‘healthy’ according to their hypocrite standards, which btw make it OOC (or SN-ish, which is the same as saying OOC lol).

It makes me kinda jealous of the Itachi/Shiita fandom because they were pretty much unfazed by the ending and they just kept doing their thing, they have a positive and open attitude towards each other, and actually their fandom is bigger than the Itasasu, or the Kakasasu one. 

(the IS one was doomed because some people in it were creeps, imposing the one true dynamic which btw for them was Sas*ita, so I can’t say I’m in the IS fandom if it’s like this. The KS fandom is dead and it’s really sad because there were so many fics and artworks, I guess canon killed it for good, but also the morality hypocrites who ‘age gap ugh wrooooooong’, same for orosasu…like. everyone knows it’s wrong but ok, thanks for telling me karen, without your bigot moralizing comment I’d have gone to hell. sorry guys I hate half of the fandom, they ruined everything almost as much as the ending imo. I admire some artists and authors and they’re the only thing that makes me stay. As well as my own stuff. Which, no need to remind me, is the slowest to be updated LOL)

On a brighter note, during this last year I saw new art blogs on tumblr, not only for Shiita but also for Itasasu, and I didn’t expect this. Maybe there is a little hope after all. Freedom in the fandom won’t exist anymore cause canon shit and morality police are too ingrained into it, but as long as some artists and authors (and I place myself in the latter category) are still going on, the free thinking anti part of the fandom still exists.

I replied to that filler related asks here. I think that filler is a wasted opportunity, it could have shown a non massacre AU in a better way, following everyone’s personalities and inclinations and adapting them to the different context, instead it was an exaggerated caricature of certain characters and their personalities, only taking into account certain traits without understanding their reasons. Akatsuki, for example, Itachi, whose strength, whose polite and calm demeanor together with his threatening and cunning attitude was butchered, and ofc Sasuke who was completely misunderstood. 

He was turned into a bitter grudge bearing person who didn’t respect the ones he most loves, Itachi and his father, and it’s OOC. Sasuke was neglected by his father who constantly compared Itachi to him, and belittled his efforts, and ofc he was affected by this, and ofc he would be affected by this in a non massacre universe as well, but he would never disrespect the father whose aknowledgement he wanted so much, and he would never disrespect the brother he loved and admired the most. Especially because Itachi in this filler AU was affectionate and kind to him, and Sasuke craved Itachi’s affection and time. So even if Fugaku treated him badly, having Itachi by his side would have been important. He might have been sad for his useless efforts to please him, but not like in that filler. He would have tried harder, and he would have never put the police in a bad light. Or other people…he didn’t want to harm strangers when he was seeking revenge, so why would he be in a corrupt cops team…also thinking about part 2 Sasuke, who’s actually against corruption in the system.

Conflicts in the family and with Itachi might have happened, but not to the point of actually fighting using powers and so on. Yeah I know, Sasuke was fighting Naruto, not Itachi, who jumped in the middle of them, but still. Sasuke has an inferiority complex, ok, and he has it towards Naruto as well (also a superiority complex at first but then when Naruto becomes stronger…no need to reply this as it’s a known fact), and I get that in the filler he was also jealous that Minato cared about his son while his father didn’t, and I get that in such context it’s easier to get in a fight with a team mate like Naruto, instead of with a relative.

I don’t think Sasuke would leave the village with Orochimaru if his brother was there though. Not in that context, not without a real conflict. 

My ‘in-universe’ explanation for this is that Tsunade has a bad opinion of Sasuke so her infinite tsukuyomi dream projects it on him. My out of universe explanation is that it’s a pity because that AU had it all: non massacre, Anbu Itachi referring to Minato (my Minaita crack shipper heart was overjoyed), Shisui training Sasuke (so I’ll always be grateful to that shitty filler arc for the endless inspiration for this crack ship that is mine lol), Itachi and Sasuke living together as grown ups compared to the actual canon (and this too..), Kakashi training Sasuke and Itachi watching (my Kakasasu heart lol), Naruto having a damn family for once, but nope, instead of developing the characters and their dynamics in the new context as every fic writer would, they tried to replicate the same canon dynamic without the canon context, so ofc characters turn into ridiculous OOC copies. Sasuke becomes the salty bitch haters think he is, Itachi a random wise meek idiot who takes ?years?? to heal from Sasuke’s chidori.

Here I am with more questions (I did warned you about "showering you with asks"). So, I know your focus here is Sasuke, but sometimes you mention Kakaita as "canon behind the screen" and I would love to know more, specially about your headcanon that "after Shisui's death they had some no-strings attached encounters, initiated by Kakashi". You see, my poor kakaita heart is desperate for some kind of content, so any thoughts that you're willing to share would make me really happy and grateful.

I did have a kakaita phase when the Kakashi filler arc came out, I’m sure I liked certain fics but I forgot which ones though cause it was a long time ago. Maybe you already saw them but in case you haven’t, here’s some thoughts about kakaita I wrote.

I do see them as ‘canon behind the screen’ like I said. 

(Before I go on: don’t like shota but my idea with pairings is: if a character doesn’t look like a child I’m ok with the pairing. Also when fictional characters are old enough to kill, they’re old enough for everything else, in fiction. Are you disturbed by this? by kakaita? by age gaps like for kakasasu? Don’t read, don’t bitch at me, unfollow and block me like I’d do to you)

After Shisui’s death Itachi is completely alone, he can’t trust anyone and he becomes even more aloof and dark. He’s completely caught between the clan and the village, Sasuke is his only ray of light but he’s just a child and he protects him from everything dark, even himself and the things he knows.

Kakashi is aloof and dark as well, after Obito’s death and especially after Rin’s death by his own hands he’s in a very dark place but he hides it and he hides himself in his Anbu job, in obeying Konoha and so on. It’s a filler but I can’t forget him reading those books about shinobi and death.

Kakashi is Itachi’s superior. He did try talking to him after Shisui’s death but Itachi didn’t open up, as expected. Yet he did ask him, indirectly, about him and his vow to Obito (or smth like that). THey’re soldiers, they’re young, they’re mistrustful and silent. Kakashi becomes kind of intrigued by Itachi, and Itachi admires Kakashi’s abilities and finds interesting the way he incorporated Obito’s sharingan into his non Uchiha body and how he deals with it.

After a particularly hard mission they find themselves in each other’s company and Kakashi makes a move on him. Itachi isn’t new to these things, he had Shisui before. Besides, Kakashi is a superior, which he points out (now, you can either imagine he says so as a tease or as a serious thing or both at the same time, as I do), and Itachi takes this kinda literally, since he entered Anbu at 11 and obeyed to all sorts of orders. 

Not to mention this kind of activity is a distraction from everything else. He needs it just like Kakashi does. It’s a no strings attached thing because they can die anytime, and because their minds are too busy with everything else, from duties to traumas to Sasuke to Obito and Rin. 

When the massacre happens Kakashi realizes he didn’t know him at all, and it’s sad because there was something between them, even though they never opened up. Same for when they fight, after Itachi joins Akatsuki, there’s a lot of unsaid between them.

When Sasuke becomes Kakashi’s student he sometimes sees Itachi in him because of their resemblance. On one hand he promises to himself that he’ll be closer to him than he had been to Itachi, both because he needs it and because he wants to make sure Sasuke won’t end up like him. On another, he compares the 2 brothers, their personality and attitude and everything else…because Kakasasu is one of my fave ships, after all.
