Dude, if you police how ppl tag your content when when they reblog it you kinda make them want to...uh...not reblog it. 

Personally, I tag ships not only when I reblog/post shipper stuff, but also when the characters are in the same artwork or stuff, you know, for being able to find the artwork quicker, cause I don’t remember all fanartists’ names (yup, sorry about that). In short, I tag ships because I want to, and if you have a problem with it because you don’t want to have your precious hands dirty with problematic stuff ok, but you put off a lot of ppl. 

Because others might not tag a ship but they might want to add weird rants on their reblog and they might be uncomfortable since you’re policing notes lol, and even tho I find certain thirsty fangirl comments on certain artworks kinda gross, or I get pissed off when someone reblogs the fanarts with permission I post, tagging some canon shit or papas*ke, I don’t start drama with it, I mean as long as they don’t bitch at me directly who cares...ofc I’m not the author. But being an fanfic author, even if it’s not the same exactly, I’m just happy if someone reblogs my stuff and I don’t look at their tags lol. What if...I mean...what if. you start not policing too. Just a thought.

Something I see a lot in the UTMV fandom nowadays is people talking about canon. "Canon Nightmare wouldn't act like that," "Ink is morally gray," that type of stuff.

The issue is that UTMV started out as a community project and will continue to be a community project. Fanon is incredibly important to certain pillars of the fandom. People are allowed to interpret the characters differently!

It's important to recognize the source material and respect it, but you must also respect different creator's stories. This isn't a community based around one big canon source material. It's based around countless comics, animations, characters, and fanfics that have been shared for years now.

People are not just going to abandon ideas they have loved for years because of the canon of the source AU. I LOVEE seeing canon Nightmare stuff, but I love dadmare or any other interpretation just as much!

In the UTMV fandom, canon and fanon literally have to coexist. It's no fun otherwise.

Why do canon shippers have the need to leave a hate comment or being jerk overall on fanon ship content?

Like seriously it's so annoying. If you hate the ship, just leave them alone or block them. It's as easy as that. Do you even know that if you engage with the content you hate by leaving a comment, it will obviously pop on your feed most of the time?!!

I just think using "it's canon" excuse is so lazy and a poor defence. Like yeah it's canon, that doesn't stop me from shipping/liking fanon ship. OR deep down they're just insecure lol

having been in the fandom for awhile, one interesting shift I remember seeing was around when BoO came out and people realized solangelo was implied to be a future thing, people were kind of scrambling to remember literally anything about Will cause of how minor of a character he had been up until that point.

And one of the things they were looking at with Will was that previously to BoO, people thought Will was a lot older. Because he was a cabin counselor (and generally how he was usually interacting with characters like Percy, Annabeth, and Clarisse - all 16+ish, or Leo - 15/16), most people assumed he was closer to 16 at least, if not actually older than Percy. It wasn't uncommon to see HoO!Will being 17 or so (this is also why there's a decent amount of hcs of him being at CHB pre-BoTL despite not existing until TLO). After BoO happened, it wasn't uncommon to see Solangelo content with a significantly older Will.

Like, it has always been implied in the series that Will is on the younger side (since Michael Yew joined CHB in SoM and Will is younger than him/would have joined BoTL at the earliest) and it's just the entire Apollo cabin keeling over in TLO that made Will counselor. But I just think it's interesting to remember that for awhile Will was not confirmed to be 13 in HoO/14 in TOA when solangelo first became a thing/people started paying attention to Will, and the fandom very widely thought he was older.

Okay, so question.

I've seen a bunch of fun 'what if's about Jason's return where Damian is already with the family. And they're fun! funny! I like most of them!

But I feel like I'm going insane.

Because I know for a fact that the Under the Hood (Jason's return) arc preceded the Batman & Son (Damian's introduction) arc. (And OYL was in between, so that's over a year of in-universe time between them.)

So the question is: Do subsequent continuities change that order of events? Or do people not know the sequence? Or is it just a 'if we change a few things wouldn't it be funny if' that's gotten used so often that the 'if we changed a few things' is just kinda assumed?
