Hello, ninjblr, I would like to share an AU I’ve been discussing all day with my dear friend @no-eyes-yet-but-vibing because it has a CHOKEHOLD on me.

I’ve affectionately dubbed it “Of the Earth” and now, as I am not good at drawing (yet) to show you through picture all the silly little scenarios I have planned, allow me to explain;

I like to think of the elemental masters as avatars of nature; they have domain over one aspect of it and are tasked with the protection of the world and its people. They’re basically parts of nature incarnate, if you will (with Lloyd being incarnate of life (I think of him as a funnel for all other elements), Wu creation, Garmadon destruction/decay, FSM is the origin of all). Consider, if you will, these avatars also gaining an animal form interlinked with their powers.

TLDR; shapeshifter AU, or His Dark Materials ripoff BUT BETTER.

Lloyd can transform into a Magpie: (Eurasian) magpies are playful in nature, and associated with luck (Magpie counting rhyme I think.) and shapeshifting (which is homage to Lloyd’s heritage as oni/dragon/human and also to the fact that he got aged up). Birds in general are also associated with freedom.

Zane is a Snowy Owl, first of all ICE AND SNOW, guidance (owl) and freedom (bird.) I feel it suits Zane really well. In terms of being a robot and not ‘flesh’, elemental power (canonically) overcomes that. We see he can do anything any other elemental master can do, and asides from that- he functions, thinks and feels like his human counterparts. He can instinctively fly the first time he assumes animal form ^^

Cole is a Weasel, as suggested by my friend. Weasels are strong and clever predators, but not necessarily what you’d expect. (And we tied it to transness. Perhaps Cole is transmasc in this au… hence the ‘not what you expected’. He’s so queer coded. He IS queer…) Their strength mirrors the strength of Cole’s element, and their habitats being forests give them that connection to dirt and earth and rocks and trees.

Jay is a Border Collie; and the first time it happens, everyone is surprised including himself. But this one’s about domesticity, about Jay kinda being underestimated and unassuming. The same way humans have forgone the very real and detrimental dangers of lightening and have utilised it in daily life through controlled electricity, dogs have been domesticated as friendly, loyal and useful animals by forgoing their origin as wolves/wild dogs. I think the attributes of a dog suit Jay really well; he is loyal to his team, strong and comforting, but he’s still fierce and powerful.

Kai is an Ocelot; which are usually found in rainforests though can live in hotter and drier climates (I believe.) as long as there is foliage. The connection to the rainforest here is about his heritage from both parents; yes he’s the master of Fire but he’s also the son of a Water master- hence, somewhere hot and humid; a rainforest. Ocelots are good swimmers- so by instinct, when he’s an ocelot, Kai can swim; I like to think the elemental magic overcomes his fear of water but this doesn’t get carried over to his human form. Again kinda a testament to the strength of nature itself. I’m also gonna say it ☝️I personally imagined Kai to be trans aswell (EVERYONE IS TRANS?!/j/silly) and whilst male ocelots are uninvolved in the raising of young, female ocelots do raise their young alone which I view as a testament to the way Kai raised Nya alone.

Ray is decidedly surprised when he sees his son as an Ocelot; Ray himself is a Sable Antelope- which lives in the grasslands/savanna and is quite big and strong (with huge horns), so he thought that considering his son inherited fire from him, he’d be a bigger savanna animal as opposed to a smaller rainforest predator.

Nya is a Strawberry Poison Dart Frog! Which is testament to her being underestimated a lot as well!! At first, even she rejects the idea that she has the form of a small (smallest on the team!) amphibian- but she grows to find advantages in it (I imagine maybe spy work…). Bright colours usually have ‘girly’ associations- especially pinks and reds- but in this case, they’re a symbol of lethality. She’s small but deadly; unsuspecting but you shouldn’t underestimate her. She’s also a rainforest animal for the same reasons as her brother!! A connection to both water and fire- heat and humidity.

As some trivia, Maya is an otter! Eurasian, specifically- found more in temperate forests, cooler environments.

Wu is an Eurasian Owl. Big. Wise. Do I need to say more?

And Garmadon is a Hare. This is. This is based off a vibe but there’s also that aspect of kinda innocence turned dangerous? He’s a son of the FSM, but there’s something not right about him; he’s not a rabbit- with it’s childish and soft associations- he’s a hare with its strength, and maybe an association with child abandonment.

Bonus!! Skylor is a Spotted Hyena, where Spotted Hyena societies are very harsh environments, especially if you’re a male hyena (I view Skylor as transfemme so…). Hyenas are also clever and powerful scavengers and hunters, which often get a bad reputation as crude animals- something I think suits Skylor really well in the way she was introduced; the mistrust against her, the environment she was raised in.

Bonus #2!! Morro is a Cuckoo bird because of this cool characteristic called ‘Brood Parasitism’ where (usually a bird) an animal will leave their young in the care/nest of another animal and let that animal raise their young instead of doing it themselves. Morro was abandoned and Wu raised him ^^ Also birds and wind? Yeah you get it. I feel the colours (greys) also suit Morro quite well.

By instinct, the first few times Lloyd utilises his animal form (I like to imagine they learn to assume them at an age of elemental maturity? Maybe 13, at which point, they have all their animal’s instincts), he cannot fly by instinct because he got aged up prematurely. This leads to Wu teaching Lloyd how to fly and I find this adorable.

But yeah!! That’s. That’s it. I’m OBSESSED thinking about this so much.

I was reading all the posts about JJK Pride HCs, and I love all of them! (Especially the Aro/Ace HCs! AroAce Yuji and Aro Maki sounds quite nice!)

And let me add an interesting idea I just got.

Ijichi and Remi start dating. (I have no idea how they even met, but one thing I’m certain is that Remi helps Ijichi crack some sort of sexuality and/or gender egg!) (wait what’s the age gap between these two?)

It's honestly REALLY hard for me to not make basically everyone or 90% of everyone AroAce in my headcanons lol. It's like a baseline headcanon for me almost all the time until I either think of something else or think a different identity suits the character better.

But yea, almost always I initially headcanon a character as AroAce (like aromantic lesbian Nobara is definitely a possibility) right off the bat just because that is what I am lol.

Now, I KNOW you meant JJK!Remi, but definitely need to make a distinction in the future for asks with no context as there is also NSR!Remi (who is usually a teenager depending on the point of the story we are at).

Now, I don't actually know the age of JJK Remi (who I will just be referring to as Remi in this post) because it doesn't say it on her wiki. That being said, I personally always saw her as like a young adult, probably 23 or something?

Ijichi is listed as 26 and 27 so he turned 27. Meaning that they have an either 3 or 4 year age gap. Probably like 3 and a half or something like that. So not bad, especially since I think Remi would be the one pursuing Ijichi and not the other way around.

That being said, I think a good place for them to meet is actually at the Weapon Meister Academy! For some reason I really like the idea that Remi is a meister who can hold a lot of weapon elementals using her hair instead of her hands (which can be rejected if soul wavelengths can't properly match up).

At least this is for their Eriverse counterparts. I have no idea how their canon counterparts would ever meet lol.

I actually forgot to mention that Ijichi is definitely some kind of queer! He uses he/him pronouns when in his human form, but once it turns into its weapon form it uses it/its pronouns.

So I don't know what labels Ijichi would use, but he definitely is thinking about his gender at least in regards to his pronouns. I'm sure Remi could help him figure that out if the two explore enough.

Hmmmm... Trans woman Remi? I would find it funny if both Remi's were trans in opposite directions with the same name lol. That's all I got for her at the moment!

Ok Eri since you asked very nicely I will go ahead and let you hear on my ramblings on both Tatiana and Kliff :3

We'll start off with Tatiana first

First Impression: I knew she was the final boss of the game but I had no idea that I would come to enjoy her as a character and eventually simp for her like the bisexual I am. Tatiana is indeed a queen <3

Impression Now: She's one of my favorite characters and I absolutely adore her character. She's the icon, she's the legend, and she's the moment

Favorite Moment: After her boss fight when she goes off on Mayday, I could feel how much truth her words were, especially when she said "Never have heroes honey, believe me you'll have fewer disappointments." I honestly related to that sentence so hard due to past experiences-

Idea for a Story: This mainly involves my OFA AU but Tatiana and her oldest daughter Titanium having a heart to heart when Tatiana finds out her daughter is literally overworking herself being the current CEO of NSR so she has to tell her it's ok to ask for help and to take a break. Just thinking about this idea makes my mind go brrr-

Unpopular Opinon: I'm not sure if this counts as unpopular but I really wish we could've had more lore about the Goolings and Tatiana's past, it would've been so much more intriguing-

Favorite Relationship: Tatiana being like a mentor to Mayday is something that always makes my heart flutter. Mayday showing how much she can play on Tatiana's old guitar that she gave her while Tatiana just smiles like a proud parent. Of course I also love shipping Tatiana with my NSR sona Olive it's a match literally made in heaven like yivdugdefuyvcbdfuyfva- the first time they meet is after the Music Revolution and the Garden of Thorns comes to town and right away gets a lot of attention that NSR also gets wind of them. They get invited to the NSR Tower to discuss collaborations but when Tatiana arrives at her office to meet them she's quick to notice that one of the band members is missing. Percy (lead singer) tells Tatiana that the drummer went to go grab some coffees and right when Tatiana says they can start without her, Olive comes in through the door with said coffees, not giving any mind that she's late and Tatiana notices just how tall Olive is-

Favorite Headcanon: Trans and Lesbian Tatiana. Being Kul Fyra also inspired a lot of LGBT+ people to be themselves, especially the fans.

And now it's time for Kliff and his moment to shine >:)

First Impression: When I saw him for the first time my heart skipped a bit, Kliff was the most cutest ginger I ever saw in my lifetime and I wanted to hold hands with him. I was a bit disappointed that he was a twist villain at first but then I realized he could still be redeemed if I put my mind to it via fan fiction lol

Impression Now: He could've taken a different approach in an attempt to get closure instead of trying to use a falling satellite, but at the end of the day Kliff is a stinky man and I love him.

Favorite Moment: When he first shows up in the game, Kliff is not only a cute ginger but he's also very helpful. His Kliffnotes on the NSR Artists are also very interesting and if you look closely there could be lore.

Idea for a Story: I need to update it but I'm working on a fanfic where Kliff does apologize to everyone for his actions and the Queen herself aka my oc Artemis helps him out, and while they're doing that they're also falling in love with each other because yes. Another idea which involves my OFA AU again is after the stunt Orion pulls with hacking into a satellite and blasting Burning Constellation's music on all technical platforms, Kliff is very proud of his daughter in a sense like "THAT'S MY GIRL :D " before his wife/Artemis gives him a look and Kliff goes "I mean Orion you can't be doing that- (I'm still proud of you though hack those satellites like I taught you >:D)"

Unpopular Opinon: I feel that there are some people that kind of go a bit too far with hating Kliff and I've come across fanfics where people write Kliff as an irredeemable character/a literal psychopath and I'm like ??? Can y'all chill??? I get that he's a bad person but he's not that evil-

Favorite Relationship: I would very interested to explore the concept of Kliff in his younger days and his relationship with Kul Fyra. Of course there's also me shipping Kliff with Artemis which is also a match made in heaven they're like so adorable Imma cry-

Favorite Headcanon: Kliff figuring out he's bisexual since back in the day he would flirt with other Goolings fans which were both men and women. Also DILF Kliff and him and Artemis going to every concert that their kids perform (Orion and her band Burning Constellation and Prince Astral's concerts with Linus because violin and piano duets are my favorite things in the world-)

hi i dont know how to start this so im just going to get right into it

i never understood why twitter got so mad at this clip ever since i saw it live i actually thought i was more good than bad? that might sound crazy but the fact as a 16 year old cis guy got called a lesbian and didnt go "ew im not a LESBIAN!??!" and actually thought about it for a second.

i think thats perfectly normal at that age to wonder that to wonder about your sexual and gender identity. hell i did and i think if i never did that as a teen i would have never accepted the idea of me being a trans guy.

now this brings me to the point of this essay. i think if twitter didnt have a shit party over that clip he would be more comfortable expressing himself femininity and accepting his bisexuality.

sure he doesnt have a problem flirting with guys as we've seen but they've always been less "masc" than his whole "big man" persona i think he finds it easier to flirt with guys (with the exception of ranboo of course) if he views them as more fem or even as a women perhaps

im not one to truthing him being trans or clem being real but im not against it. this also isnt me truthing him as being trans. i think cis people expressing femininity and masculinity is so important male or female (femininity and masculinity are ALWAYS put as things that go inherently together, but for some reason theyre never put as things that compliment eachother but thats a whole different topic)

but what do i really know? i dont have an audience of 12 million on youtube and 7 miliion on twitch i cant imagine that many eyes on you just waiting to judge you on your every move

Anon I admire the drive but I’m afraid you’ve sent this to the person who authored the “Tommy being Bi won’t fix him” post, so I must stick to my convictions on this one.

(As an aside, for those who don’t know, meet Clementine!)

I was not directly around for The Lesbian Moment, but I think I heard the gunshots down the street. I think it’s hugely under-emphasised how everyone was on the back of a world-changing mass death event spread out over the course of at least two years around that time, and the way that it (reasonably, all things considered) affected the way people handled stress. People were very sensitised to a lot of things, and it doesn’t surprise me that this would be a case where zooming out from what the problem was ‘supposed to be about’ would reveal a massive soup of situational stressors looking for a fracturing point to express themselves.

As thousands of people were all suddenly shoved online to share the same spaces, the social processes involved with creating norms and group standards had tons of gas thrown on them. It was going to be messy no matter what, people were electing scapegoats left and right to set social standards about what was and wasn’t acceptable. This is grim but important context (Tw), lockdown was horrific for rates of at-home physical and sexual abuse. Being a woman online in general is a state of psychological warfare against an objectifying culture. I remember talk about how his audience was divided even then, a group of lesbians were like “hell yeah we can let Tommy join /nsrs” and then another group were not even remotely okay with that even as a joke.

People were sensitised to feeling invaded in a time where lockdown had personal agency down to record lows, especially for teenagers and children. In a world where you have next to no agency or personal control over your circumstances, having a say in dominant moral narratives and the accepted behavior of people skyrockets in value, because you’re constantly in other people’s power. People were profoundly invested in the few square inches of control that they could/did have, so they were deeply reactive with it. A lot of pandemic reactivity was the behavior of people who felt over-activated and cornered, so while it’s possible to critique the outrage and take it apart on the terms that it presented itself on, it’s important to understand it as part of a whole as well.

👏 ON TO THE GAY SHIT

I feel like what goes into Tommy flirting with each of the men he’s flirted with in the past has been a little bit different. Tubbo seemed like possessive best friend claiming mushed into a straight lens with a side of teasing (I like girls, I like Tubbo, Tubbo is girl.) Ranboo was a fascinating intersection of girlfriend sublimation and flirtation to raise his self-esteem, also a bit of an apology for the not-so-passive-aggression from when it looked like Ranboo had “stolen” Tubbo. I wasn’t around for TimeDeo, but fuck it, that counts too. I don’t think that the majority of his homosocial flirting was to make himself seem more masc, especially with Ranboo. (I’ll spare you examples but that particular stretch has some moments.)

Tommy had a ‘playing toughguy’ problem when he was younger, and it contributed to some of his worst habits in terms of what came out of his mouth. I would have attributed a lot of this to his environment, the influences that he related to both positively (edgy youtubers) and negatively (macho schoolmates.) He was very teenage boy, but even then he had an off-beat streak that I impressionistically related to as more femme, even when he was being abrasive. Ever since being forcibly civilised through Wilbur and the forces of the internet he’s had much less of that, but his femme streak has stayed in some form or another, just evolving to fit what’s needed of him at a given time.

The rate at which Tommy being a cishet man comes up as a genuine issue that people feel compelled to try and see resolved is interesting, even as someone who occasionally feels it myself. Like there’s got to be something to unpack in that dynamic, that whatever behavioral issue he’s experiencing at a given time feels tied to his identity as a cishet male and something that can be revised if he had the right personal revelations. The issue is, I just don’t think it’s true, or at least wouldn’t make the difference that some people would want it to make. Some of his problems could even be tied up in his Englishness, and that’s straight up incurable. It’s hard for me to imagine that having a sexuality related revelation would make that big of a difference in the grand scheme of… him as a person. He’s got a lot of moving parts.

I do feel some frustration on behalf Tommy in terms of being a target of essentialist thought. He’s not allowed to be as camp as he probably wants to be because it comes off as offensive to gay culture, and he’s not allowed to be overtly femme because people are strict about policing gender expression right now if a given person doesn’t take on a certain label that corresponds with it. He’s assumed to have the worst intentions if he isn’t directly part of a certain group, and he really is clumsy with things that he doesn’t understand so he can be better off sometimes keeping his hands inside his box, but it’s still kind of sad to see the roundabout way that these binaries re-enforce themselves with someone like him. At the same time, try not to mourn over ‘what could have been’, because it’s still a form of essentialism to think that having traits more commonly associated with non-cishet identity would solve his problem-of-the-week, and there’s no guarantee that’s the case.

after the whole ‘oh shit sentience’ thing, the bots have been questioning basic shit about themselves, because now they have the ability to do so, so instead of the early 20 year olds they were programmed to be they act more like teenagers, for now at least so yaaaay gender questioning since it would not be hard to find information on that stuff in the NSR universe id hope. it also helps that neon j is a supportive gay old man (whos also trans!! pog) and after one of them (probably melu herself) comes to him about it he’s consistently there as a resource and also a reassurance that its okay and healthy to question yourself bc we love to see it

melu comes out, the rest of the boys come out because gay friend group domino effect!

most of the public reacted super well, even heralding melu as a trans icon because id like to imagine the NSR universe is accepting and pogchamp, and even if it wasnt her siblings and her dad and her fellow NSRtists and mayday and zuke all accept her, and in the end thats all she really needs!

Random HCs of Pav and Gayatri (applies to both canon and the NSpideR AU)

Pav and Gaya became friends when Gaya was singing. Pav fell in love with her voice! The others… were afraid of her though.

Later, they realized that Pav wanted to be like cool boy like Gaya and vice versa. They were both trans! They chose each other’s names.

Gaya’s dad immediately accepted her because it all clicked for him, the clothes, the rejection to cut her hair, her friends mostly being other girls… Her mother… didn’t. She just said it was going to be a phase, and ignored her wishes. She was also afraid of her daughter’s powers, which she had no immunity to.

inspector Singh decided to fight to get full custody of his daughter to keep her safe.

he somehow succeeded, and now Gayatri barely meets her mother. (She has abandonment issues and anxiety though)

seeing how Pavitr makes his daughter happy, inspector Singh considers Pav to be his secondary family.

now, they were both in elementary school and quite content, but as they got older, people made strange jokes around them saying that “boys don’t have feeling for other boys if they aren’t gay.” Turns out they were both mspec.

After the rock revolution, things got much harder for Pav. His peers teased him for being the cousin of Eve, and started to fear he would “Diva Realm” them

those fears became true, and he accidentally used his powers on them.

this earned him a recommendation to go to Nueva York.

Pav was miserable in Nueva York for the first few weeks, barely talking to anyone but Gayatri, via video chats every night.

Hobie reached out to him, and asked how Eve was able to master her powers while not going to Nueva York.

This is all I have for them now…

1). She had absolutely thought she hypnotized him at first and refused to talk to him or get near him. After a while though, when the singing would have OBVIOUSLY not been affecting him though, and he still tried to hang out with her, that was when she started to let him in closer.

2). Oh that's really sweet! I like that a lot!

3). I for some reason felt like Gaya's mom isn't around at all (either died or left, forgot what I wanted to go with), but if she is around I can definitely see her being like this. Possibly having Gaya be mute or extremely quiet because of no immunity to her voice like her husband ended up having.

4). Good for him! Keep his daughter away from that awful woman (especially if she did what I suggested in keeping Gayatri quiet).

5). Poor Gayatri. At least she has a father who wants her and is absolutely willing to fight for her.

6). At first I do see Inspector Singh being hesitant to let Pav around, but like you said, after seeing how happy he made her, especially after the divorce, you better believe he was doing what he could to make sure Pav stayed in his daughter's life.

7). For some reason I always read mspec as "male spectrum" and not "multiple spectrum/multiple-attraction spectrum" and so think it's specifically a term for gay men. Anyway, wouldn't they be seen as a "straight" couple, or were people just being total asshats and accepting Pav as a guy while denying Gaya the label of girl. That's probably what it was.

8). There's probably rumors that Eve poisoned Pav's mind or that Eve ran away to NSR because of Pav being born. Like truly awful shit to try and make Pav feel bad (as well as him being unhinged or crazy like Eve). Literally anything to try and get under his skin.

9). The fears coming true in that instance probably made even more rumors spread and the ones already around just got bigger/more "real" to everyone. Pav is in an absolutely lose-lose situation with no outside help really coming (other than Gaya and Nueva York's "help")

10). More like a "strong recommendation" that Pav and his family couldn't really fight against (though thankfully Pav actually believed in this company and so went willing and wasn't giving the traumatizing forced to go to Nueva York option).

11). And yea, even if he did go willingly, he would still be miserable because of the culture shock, loneliness, and overall situation her was in sucking the joy out of almost everything.

12). Pav hadn't thought about how Eve had mastered them, but that was enough to make Pav snap a bit out of his depression and think a bit. It got him talking with Hobie a bit and the this is probably when Hobie starts to hint that Nueva York isn't actually going to help Pav without fully saying it yet (Pav is still in shock from everything and Hobie wants to get his trust before outright saying how shitty Nueva York is and to not trust it)
