(What if she sends a pillar down the hall and, God forbid, it may hit you? What if you rush into a containment unit, fearing a meltdown, and it's enough to weaken her?)

she simply stops, watching you from the hallway. clawed carapace twitching at her sides. the Arbiter steps closer. once. twice. she stands before you, intimidating and terribly strong, able to kill you with the flick of a wrist. but she doesn't. instead, she kneels. she kneels before you, all armor and spines and wood patterns, holds her hands out to you. imploring, pleading for you to come closer, to not be afraid of her. the Arbiter lets out an odd sound when you slowly reach back, a rasping, metallic hum low in her throat as she pulls you into her arms, head pressing against yours. it's cold. she's cold. every inch of ice clinging and melting into you. the screams and sobs of the facility dull as the Arbiter manages to speak, crackling and heavy

"Don't go."

you don't. you hold her tightly in your arms, shaking from fear and exhaustion and worry. and she just leans into the embrace, silently desperate. like this, everything she caged away comes flooding out, culminating in a need to be close, to know you're safe. her head against your shoulder, grasping the back of your uniform. so many times, so many cycles. so many instances of your death. not again- never again, and not by her hand. you cannot die again, she won't allow it. to leave her wasting away, wishing she could follow you into endless sleep. she's never allowed to. an Arbiter never rests

her claws cup your cheeks, gently, and Binah allows herself to weep

Ayato Headcanons

Self-focused - As easygoing as Ayato seems, many would be surprised to know that he can be quite the sore loser. Well, perhaps not with everything. He certainly would not mind if he lost at a childish game like beetle battling. However, for games that he's good at, can you blame the surprise that would flash in his eyes if he lost? Ever the schemer, he takes pride in his ability to strategize. He knows how to utilize his resources to gain the exact results he wants. So if he lost, don't be surprised if he goads you into another game. Certainly the next one will not be a fluke. 

Relationship-focused - While you may be in a relationship or even married to Ayato, it would be foolish to expect him to be completely forthcoming about his business. While he certainly will not lie to you, he will also not tell you the complete truth either. It's not that he desires to keep secrets or thinks you cannot handle the truth. He simply does not see the importance in telling you everything. To him, matters even concerning the Shuumatsuban are simple everyday affairs, nothing worth mentioning. Really, there's nothing to concern you about.

I know the respective fandoms of DC and Miraculous Ladybug have a certain disdain for MLxDC fics but I think there's a potential for fics where Luka leaves Paris and just keeps traveling to different US cities because he keeps figuring out secret identities and he's just this 15 year old kid growing increasingly frustrated and exasperated at how badly everyone hides their identities and he just has to pretend to be oblivious even tho it's Their Fault for being Bad At Secrets and shouldn't adults be better at this??????

creating this narrative around himself and making sure everything he thinks he is or wants to be is maintained in little boxes, meticulously organised to the point that it’s falling apart in front of his eyes and it’s still ‘in perfect order’, it’s still preferable to the alternative .. having to face himself. and then ! well then he wakes up locked in a room with his choices that led to this point laid bare
