so i'd like to preface this by saying this stems from me going entirely off the rails thinking about tales of the passerine-- which is frankly quite on brand for me to think of one au, and then develop it so far left ways that it makes another au entirely.

bUT. Context! Danny's ancestors sometime before they immigrated to America had a fae marry into the family. This had its Side Effects. Naturally. The Fentonnightengale responsible for this charmed a fae thanks to their swagless nature and awkward demeanor, so instead of getting eaten the fae thought it was cute instead. The fae marrying into the family had an affinity for music, but that kinda repressed itself by accident -- blame the salem witch trials.

By the time Danny is born, the fae blood has become so latent that it really doesn't show up anymore other than the Fentons Eccentricity and obsession with the supernatural (a latent desire to return home to the fae realm - aka infinite realms). There's an unnatural charm surrounding the fenton that really only creeps almost every human within a visual radius, and Danny is no exception.

hoWEVEr. the accident that turned danny into a halfa in one timeline did no such thing in this one -- it just reactivated his latent fae blood, and reactivated it with a fervor. Effectively turning Danny from a human into a changeling.

Danny just thinks at first that he's a half-ghost -- only to realize later on from Clockwork that he's not one at all. He's very much fae -- which is a wild discovery for Danny to make. It also means his rogues are quite a bit more intimidated by him. Fae are above ghosts in the Infinite Realm Creature Hierarchy, no matter how powerful they are. A fae can still Steal the name of a ghost, so Danny's rogues are rather skittish/unsure around Danny until they realize he doesn't know he's a changeling -- after that, many of them vow to try and keep it secret amongst themselves.

Danny's 'ghost' form is rather birdlike, and in human form his appearance warps to match his comfortability. When he's alone with his friends he starts taking on unnatural features. -- his blue-green eyes brighten and his pupils elongate, his teeth sharpen, and his ears grow longer and animal-like. His hair softens to be more feathery, his nails sharpen. In general he takes on more 'bird-ish' features. At school, around his parents, and when he's stressed, tense, or scared, he looks completely human -- an instinctual survival mechanism.

As a ghost, he has large, pretty wings that gradient from black to dark purple-blue, with a shimmer across the feathers that resembles the aurora borealis. His limbs elongate, his legs becoming bird-like and his talons grow on both his feet and nails. His ears vaguely resemble a rabbit's, although they don't flop down like one. All his teeth sharpen. Razor sharp chompers, capable of biting through bone. His eyes take on a greenish-hue, but otherwise remain the same color, albeit his sclera becomes blue-ish and his pupils become diamond-shaped and white. Rings of seafoam blue circle around his iris, creating a reflective sheen. He makes chirping, creaking noises, and when he speaks there's a faint overlap that is very enchanting.

Overall he's rather beautiful in a terrifyingly inhuman way, its hard to take your eyes off him. He has a lot of feathers. He's very drawn to singing and music in general, and gets into music sometime after his accident. He likes flutes/ocarinas/woodwinds the most, followed shortly after by strings, and then piano. He also slowly loses the ability to lie -- which is really annoying and also terrifying until he learns how to reword himself and become a better wordsmith.

I think one of the most fascinating parallels you can draw between Kallus and Zeb is that they’re both trying to take responsibility for something that they were ultimately just cogs in. No matter what Kallus and Zeb did, neither of them could have stopped what happened on Lasan. It was always going to happen the way it did. I think Kallus is able to internalize that with Zeb’s help, but imagine the angst if Zeb isn’t able to

I’ve got this scene in my head of Kallus and Zeb having an argument about Zeb feeling guilty for not being able to do more for Lasan. and Kallus claps Zeb with “If I couldn’t have done anything to stop them, then what could you have done? If an agent of the empire that was there to destroy your world couldn’t have done a single thing to stop it, then what could you have possibly done to save anyone?” And Zeb doesn’t have anything left to argue for, can’t think of a way to pin the blame of Lasan on him, because what could he have done? What could anyone do against the might of a galactic empire? Both of them have to realize that, while they had their parts to play, it was so much bigger and terrible than either of them can or could control.

I have this wip of an idea that the whole meeting happened when you left your flock and wandered into the forest as it's something you do quiet often (not very approved of by your peers, but i want lamb!reader to be a powerful independent presence) and he catches a glimpse of you and is immediately intrigued lol, his infatuation only grows when he approaches you and you completely shut down his attempts for a conversation, you came here to be alone remember? You stay on his mind long after you return back home and he is left to wonder when you'll be back.

I feel like you wouldn't pay any mind to him at first. He'll have to work for your attention, lmaoo, but when you do, eventually get together (it starts with you visiting him in the forest more often and even staying at his own place) or even just reciprocate a fraction of his feelings, he goes apeshit and probably oversteps 😭😭 like an overprotective mother he starts INSISTING you stay at his house so he could take care of you better and sleep well, catches bunnies for you and crashes out when you refuse to let him hand feed you what he cooked, will be placing both of ur food portions in the same plate<- this is a fixation of his, coaxes you to sleep in his arms, the whole overbearing husband experience, he's very clingy and doting tbh, he really wants to tend to you. Also he's obsessed with your ears.

You could try to ghost him, but he would definitely just destroy your reputation to have you return to him, starts to show up on front of your home like a crazy ex and gives everyone else a heart attack, eventually the other lambs associate you two together and choose to "sacrifice you" to the vicious beast in the forest. That way, in hopes of getting rid of him once and for all. This way you have nowhere else to go. You'll have to let him tend to you properly.

He will whimper and pout like a puppy when you freak out on him about it, bcuz really he doesn't wnat to upset you ever, but he sees this as necessary evil or some form of tough love? but really, what can you do? At the end of the day, he's the only person who doesn't think you're a bad Oman.

I mean, giving Sunday the full control to choose where Aventurine stays? Aventurine, an enemy of Sunday’s due to the fact that he is a representative of the IPC? Would Sunday not be chomping at the bit at the prospects of being able to control that? (Ik he’s a family member but I do not think he is in charge of hotel reception normally). I already think Sunday was listening into Ratio and Avens argument in 2.0 (which was obviously staged read by other posts), but now that I remember this, that Sunday was given full control over where Aven would stay? No way in hell he wasn’t gonna monitor that room, if he somehow wasn’t planning on it already.

idk if this is going to make any sense but one of the weirdest things about aging is seeing people who are your peers now and being able realize at a glance they are within the same age range as you but also thinking to yourself "ten years ago i would have thought they were so grown" and yes, their modern self would have been pretty mature to your young self, but they were also a child or teenager at the same time as you. it's such a weird train of thought to fall in to every time. like what do you mean me and adults i would've looked up to as a child are the same age now? what do you mean they had a very similar schooling because we both went to elementary school in the early 2000s? shut the actual fuck up. as a kid i absolutely thought adults were this weird all-knowing and yet unknowable group, everything always seemed so planned, proper, and put-together. but now that i'm peeking behind the curtain as an adult it is so blatantly obvious that everyone's just. giving it a go.
