so I started playing Ar Tonelico recently and characters can change the names of items, kinda like this

Long time ago, at an anime convention far away, I saw a cosplayer.

She was cosplaying as Infel from Ar Tonelico 2. I recognized that, and she was so pleased that I recognized her cosplay.

Idk, I just remember that because it brought me the fuzzies that I made her day that day.

And I like Ar Tonelico...

I've been replaying FFXIV to make up the story for my character, Mir Teiwaz, and part of that was bringing song magic into the mix. Spoilery bits for Heavensward patch things below.

In this shot she's singing EXEC_HARMONIOUS_FYUSION./ just before The Final Steps of Faith in the special little area where you can see Nidhogg standing on top of Hraesvelgr. The VFX are from Dancer's Technical Step. I'll have to come back to this at some point because details in her HW outfit have changed. I'd also like to improve the pose and take the screenshot at a higher resolution.

Woke up with the urge (it had played in my dreams) to listen to ih=fao-i iyon-du; which tbh I didn't care for when I first heard it on Akiko Shikata's "Oto no Mado" album¹ but it has really grown on me listening to it at least 10 times² today. Power of music (and autism) I suppose.

Music is good. Yes I am the person who actually still buys CDs. (We'll see how tariffs affect that I suppose)

After my daily dose of "mentally on edge due to Hymmnoserver being down", I realized something:

If you're plural, you can literally make Song Magic meant for yourself and a headmate (acting as the Genom/Sharl/Reyvateil - or maybe the other way around?), and it wouldn't even be wrong in terms of in-canon mechanics in either the Surge Concerto duology or the Ar tonelico trilogy. Well, I'd still personally kick the "girls only" rule to the curb...

Of course the first thing my mind goes to is EXA_PICO !!! Ar Tonelico, Ciel/Ar Nosurge, (and ARGTrinary) I can talk about them and their setting for Hours before I run out of things to mention (play ar tonelico)

Second biggest thing would definitely be type moon related stuff. Especially! Kara no Kyoukai and Tsukihime but the older Fate/ stuff as well. I'm not the person who has the Most Knowledge of any of it but I can definitely talk for at least an hour about Shiki or Fujino alone.

Glasses. and eyes. I can talk forever about either of these topics (because I've been an optician for 6 years now) so like, if you wanna know about coatings or materials or frame shapes and sizes hi im here.

basically, this is the universal language for everything above humans.

Honestly in conlang terms Ar Tonelico is pretty fun, even if the fan-dialects are very poorly documented and you can’t use the generator for Emotional Song Pact anymore.

Do you ever get nervous bc your conlang isn't as naturalistic or as well-thought-out as those of the literal masters of the craft and so that must mean it's Literally Garbage
