I am having soooo many thoughts on the themes of st and on the characters' arcs and conclusions.

I will make a long post about all of this once I have it all pretty well figured out and connected (bc ofc everything is connected in this show)

But until then, I thought I'd share the first conclusion that I reached (it's a theory, but it could be true) :

So, I think that the UD and everything supernatural in the show represent trauma/mental illness. That makes sense if you consider that the supernatural is intertwined with the characters' arcs and that if they are to defeat the supernatural forces, they first have to battle with their own demons and accept themselves etc etc.

El having powers could also make sense in the way that her powers were inherited from her mom, just like a lot of mental illnesses are partially genetic. Experience also plays its role, so the abuse she endured in the lab could represent how abuse in early childhood (in El's case, it was since literal birth), combined with your genes (her mom obviously has the same/similar mental issues that she has) can cause mental illnesses to appear.

This also aligns with the theory of Will experiencing something traumatic the day that he went missing, if the supernatural stuff didn't happen. This could work just as an analogy for us to understand, or it could actually be revealed that Vecna really did choose Will so that he can simultaneously save him from that traumatic event. But yeah, the point is that it portrays how Will going missing/going through something really traumatic was the catalyst to all of the characters eventually having to face their own issues as well. And how they all have to heal TOGETHER if the monsters are to leave them all (kind of like if not all of them figure their shit out, none of them will end up healing bc they all have an impact on each other so they can't fully heal if some of them haven't figured out how to start doing so).
