when i was a child/teen/young adult i had a moderate case of OCD, and anyway one of the things it made me do was think "you are a bad person if anyone can hear you breathing" (lol) so i spent years training myself to breathe as shallowly as possible so that no one could hear me. which is obviously like. bad for your health. anyway unfortunately i was Very successful at this and so now i breathe in a deeply fucked way without even thinking about it, and i do not know how to reverse this process and train myself to breathe normal again. so it goes.

Chapter 0 of my Dragon series
I did this one random back in late 2024, and I mostly did this because I was bored in class. It was just going to be one of the things, but then I started doing it more often.
This newer version of the story is heading in a completely different direction than what I previously had in mind.

the post in question that i am referencing, OP turned off comments and i don't wanna hijack their post completely in a reblog, so i just wanna say that microlabels are good things, there's no shame in using microlabels. *to me* the difference between other sexuality/gender/e.t.c. markers and microlabels is that microlabels are further specified information whereas bigger labels usually also function as umbrella terms. I know there's a lot of discourse around the definition of the term "microlabel" but for me, that's what I mean when I use it on my page.
-
So examples of that would be:
Genderfluid: Umbrella term
Demifaefluid: Microlabel
-
Transgender: Umbrella term
Trans-femme: Microlabel
-
Aromantic: Umbrella term
Apotharoaceiflux: Microlabel
-
I just think it's wrong to disavow the term microlabel completely because bigots decided it means "small/niche=bad" as I (personally) find it very useful when discussing different gender/sexuality terminology. Something being micro- is not inherently less than. Being apart of a niche group, or having extremely specified labels is a good thing IMO. I thinks it's important to focus on not validating any dialogue around "small/niche=bad" in the queer community no matter how much TERFs and anti-MOGAIs try to discredit us and say we're just attention seeking and trying to be special.
P.S. I just wanna add that I think it's also pretty easy to recognize that anyone calling "genderqueer" or "asexual" a microlabel is probably on some TERF shit. In the same way good-faith labels exist, bigots often co-opt and misrepresent labels/terminology as a way to discredit us. Don't help them further the discombobulation of queer terms by recognizing their definition/representation of us as valid.

Its so weird to see that its apparently a common believe that all trans men ARE just like cis men
That they must have the same taught superiority complex as cis men, the same unchecked biases, the same lacking empathy for women (cis and trans), the same insulation from womens oppression, the same monitary incentiv to keep the system going, complete allienation of femininity, the same unchecked unreasonable hate for all women that is just waiting to find a woman they can hit without getting in trouble
But when trans men assert that they have deep ties to the women around them, fight for bodily autonomy, fight for and organise with cis and trans women, that theyre in community with women (have been for years and will continue to be even after full binary transition), have been the victim of misogynist violence, share that they deeply struggled to accept their transmasculilty and had to unpack a lot of bias to get there, want to be included in feminist theory and frameworks
Then its suddleny that thay ARE just like cis women
By deflecting from their own sexism by pointing out theyre also affected by sexism, acting intiteled to space that should be reserved for trans women exclusivly, weaponising tears, weaponsing empathy, sympathy, biology, "sisterhood", inserting their way into unrelated conversations, arguing based exclusivly on hurt feelings
Some people really cant believe that being a trans man is a unique experience, that it is also not a uniform exerience and that we dont actually know how to totally quantify it yet
