I KNOWWWW I haven't posted my Rhine and Dain agenda yet I get too excited and i have to save it as a draft but I need to think about this or I'll explaode

I'm SO OBSESSED WITH THE IDEA OF ALICE HAVING A KAMERA CENTURIES BEFORE IT BECAME A PUBLIC THING BECAUSE SHE'S BUILT DIFFERENT and the only thing she really used it for was to take pics of her friends and things she liked. She's taken so many pictures of Rhine it's not even funny, and once Rhine and Dain became an actual thing, she started taking a lot of pics of them (because she liked how much happier rhine had become)

She has a whole collection of pictures of them because she was gonna do something with it when they got married,,, but then the Cataclysm happened and with everything going to shit, she forgot about the photos for a LONG TIME. so they sat in her Mary Poppins ass bag until something reminds her and all of a sudden she's pulling out a whole ass album of pristine pictures and everyone around has the privilege of seeing pre cataclysm Rhine looking genuinely happy. Despite her physically aging maybe a few years since some of the photos, there's just a type of innocence that makes her look so much younger and some pics depict her with such a girlish joy, that it's almost hard to believe it's Rhine. Although in a separate album, there's plenty of pics from the same time where she's normal Rhine. But the few times that she felt like a normal young adult were definitely captured by Alice. However in either scenario, you can see the slow progression of the effects of the abyss and forbidden knowledge. But hindsight is 20/20. No one at the time knew what was to come, but now Alice wants to kick herself for not noticing anything beforehand. The photos of Rhine slowly deteriorating made everything so much more bittersweet. Watching the dark rashes of Eleazar-adjacent grow along her hands and arms, the photos of her and dain standing together slowly transitioning from loosely intertwined hands to Rhine holding on tightly for support, her happy smile gaining a twinge of pain, the bags under her eyes becoming more pronounced, and the few smattering of pictures of Rhine laying on the floor, weakly smiling and posing for the Kamera as if she didn't just get done having a coughing fit... All of it made Alice wish she noticed it sooner. But it happened so slowly in a way that photos could not capture. And still, there were plenty of pictures where Rhine still seemed relatively normal. Photos of her holding a beaker while looking at the Kamera through thick lashes, her rashes barely noticeable compared to her work and her neutral, yet fond expression. "Selfies" that Alice took of the two of them where they looked like normal friends. And so many more photos of Rhine living a normalish life, if not a bit of a workaholic, but they show that she was capable of having a normal life if not for the Cataclysm.

Honestly looking through them may just push Rhine into crying at least a little bit. She hasn't processed nor grieved the loss of her previous life and now she just got slapped with the reality that she was so much happier back then and now she can't go back to that. Especially after Alice tells her why she had all of those photos and she realizes that she never got the life that everyone anticipated for her to have. She may have unlimited time to spend with her friends and to do her research, but she didn't realize how much it could hurt to see what she used to be
