Sonamy Thoughts, Theories & Headcanons
Tumblr media
Let me first start by clarifying that this is of course my opinion and even though I'm using elements to back up my thoughts, there is nothing to say that a ship is canon unless the company who makes it comes out and says it. This is just how I perceive the content that we have been given.
My first point is that I definitely do not believe that Sonic "dislikes" Amy, which is often the argument used against this pairing. Sonic definitely is not a fan of her antics, but at no point has he ever stated that he dislikes her. In fact, he has shown time and time again that he is concerned about her and gets passionately angry when she is mistreated:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now if you're purely talking in-game content only, I get that Sonic avoids Amy when she hassles him. However, there are a few games where you actually have an option to romance Amy:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In fact, in Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood there is an entire sub-plot where you literally just romance Amy if you so choose [x]. (He's also sort of "dated" Amy in Sonic & the Black Knight, but that will be mentioned later). I know Sonic is a huge flirt in the games and at least one female falls for him in almost every game, but still the fact that you can ACTUALLY ROMANCE AMY as an option is a huge step from just being a nuisance.
I also find it a little interesting at the way these two interact when they're alone compared to when they're around other people. Whenever they're in public and surrounded by their friends, that's when we see Sonic most adamantly against Amy being all over him and being affectionate:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
However, whenever they're alone they get along very well and in fact Sonic seems much more attached to her
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In fact there's this recurring pattern that hints at this hidden relationship that we as the audience aren't even allowed to see. In some of the games we are informed that Sonic has planned dates with Amy but for one reason or another isn't able to show up:
Tumblr media
or that he is interested in her but it never gets answered:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Sonic Boom, there are so many hints that Sonic and Amy are very close, but we only ever see glimpses or the aftermath. In fact, the way they act so comfortable around each other seems more like the result of already being in a relationship and getting past those awkward jitters and obsessive phases. They are constantly in each other's company and at each other's side
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And of course, let's not forget to mention the 2 most ambiguous sonamy moments in history
Tumblr media
Seriously, what is happening there?!
Tumblr media
In the Japanese version they blank out the audio so you don't know what Sonic is saying. Clearly it is something important and to Amy's liking based on her reaction. But we aren't allowed to know, because I think Sonic wouldn't want us to know (until a later episode where they address it). (Also, quick side note, isn't it interesting that the first thing Sonic does once returning to his home planet is go to Amy's house?
Tumblr media
He could do anything else but that's the first place he goes to).
We all know Sonic is not interested in settling down. He has to always be on the move, always keep going. But at least Amy understands this.
Tumblr media
<--(ty to greenyvertekins for this set)
Instead of forcing Sonic to stop doing what he loves or sacrifice his passions for her, she instead is the one who chooses to follow him through it all or will wait for him while he is away
Tumblr media
This is a huge deal for her, because we've already known through several instances that she does not enjoy fighting Eggman and would rather move on with her life, but she knows that as long as there is danger, that will never be the case:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which I personally think goes back to that previous thing I talked about with the whole "secret relationship" going on. If Sonic ever decided he was interested in dating, he certainly could not go public with it--at least not for a very long time. How could he, with Eggman constantly getting in the way?
Tumblr media
Amy is already constantly used as bait by enemies as it is, so if Sonic were ever to show that he is romantically involved with Amy, she would be in more danger than ever
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also think there has been this huge growth on Amy's part. Though yes she is still obsessive and extreme with her emotions, her feelings have matured with every passing game and show and I think that is something that Sonic is starting to notice as well. We started with this little girl who was head over heels unabashadly claiming that Sonic is the one she is going to marry
Tumblr media Tumblr media
to someone who now, though evidently cares for Sonic very much, feels so strongly that she can't even bring herself to say it aloud
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She has pushed herself to stop being someone who waits for someone to save her and instead now shows that she can handle anything that Sonic can handle so that he will see her on the same level.
As I've stated before, I don't think Sonic will ever end up tied down with anyone in canon. But, if he did, I think Amy is the only person who would truly be right for him. She is the only one who has proven that she can keep up with him and stands up for him no matter what the situation is, and surprisingly is the most understanding about the way he thinks and feels. I think Sonic and Amy just have this ongoing connection that just gets stronger and stronger with time, even if they never fully cross that barrier.

A List of Everything Good about Yuri on Ice
This is going to be very long.
Although the animation leaves a lot to be desired, there are quite a few beautiful moments, especially in the first few episodes (and I hope the quality will improve again for the last few episodes).
The characters are inspired by real figure skaters, though not strictly based on their real lives or personalities. Regardless, there are still some things they have in common.
The style of the show teaches the viewer the basics of figure skating and is very informative to people, like myself, who had absolutely no prior knowledge about it.
Real figure skaters watch Yuri on Ice and love it. Some of them even cosplay it and I wouldn’t be surprised if they made new routines based off of the series.
The thought put into making the skating sound effects is astounding and impressive.
The soundtracks are definitely the show’s forte, especially the opening and endings.
The fact that the opening is an exchange between Yuri and Victor and eventually both of them together.
The use of English in the music, considering Yuri and Victor communicate in English.
The random English phrases as a reminder that they speak in English are not only well placed, but really cute (”Be my coach, Victor!” “Really!? Ninjas!?” “Wow!”)
The diverse and unique designs of the character’s facial features and distinctive qualities. None of them have exceptionally crazy, stereotypical anime hair (Minami might be the closest to something like that), but they’re all very distinctive and believable.
The characters act their ages- mainly talking about Yurio here, considering he’s 15 and most definitely acts moody, as a 15 year old usually does.
Yuri’s family members are all similar enough to where you know they’re related, but they all have distinctive qualities about them.
Yuri’s family being very supportive and proud, even if they do not understand everything about skating.
Yuri’s friendship with Yuko and how Yuri might have crushed on her slightly, but still loves her as a friend and is loved by Nishigori and the triplets.
Yuko’s enthusiasm over Yuri’s career, his talent, and her constant support.
The triplets being named after skating moves.
The triplets providing humor is totally realistic considering they are kids and full of energy and enthusiasm.
The triplets are the reason the video of Yuri went viral and they are just so genuinely into skating, it’s adorable and funny!
The fact that Nishigori used to be mean to Yuri, but now he’s a good friend to him and reminds him that he as well as their family is always there for Yuri.
Minako being so excited and passionate about skating and Yuri’s career.
Minako’s impressive experience as a dancer and her determination to teach Yuri what he needs to know.
The fact that Yuri got a poodle and named him after Victor.
A big part of Yuri’s distress was his dog’s death, and I’m glad they acknowledged that as something to be very depressed over/something significant to affect Yuri’s performance.
Yuri is not a good narrator; he thinks he is a terrible skater, when in actuality, he’s the top in Japan and has multiple trophies and medals. He also did not remember the night of the banquet, which ended up being a very significant event and explained so much more after it was revealed post episode 10.
Yuri is a very complex character who struggles with self confidence, but he ends up doing things like licking his lips and giving Victor a sultry look, he is able to yank Victor’s tie and whisper things to him in front of everyone, amongst much more. He ends up becoming quite bold (not without thoughts like “That was embarrassing!” but still), and he really takes control of his sexuality and self esteem.
Regardless of how bold he becomes, he still needs emotional support and reassurance that he will succeed.
Even though he looks confident as all hell sometimes, inside he still doubts himself and struggles with anxiety. Even through all of this, sometimes he can still deliver an excellent performance.
Yuri doesn’t take Yurio’s insults seriously, and instead thinks, “Hah, he isn’t taking me seriously, is he?” Showing that he really isn’t hurt by such jabs.
Yuri understands that Yurio is a teen, so he treats him like one, but he doesn’t look down on Yurio. He takes Yurio as a serious rival regardless of his age.
Yuri’s voice was thought about carefully and picked out with the intention of sounding realistic and not like a typical anime protagonist.
The voice actors are becoming good friends, and every time stories about them surface on my dash it makes me very happy, and surely everyone else is enjoying these cute stories of friendship.
Victor’s voice actor cosplayed as Victor.
Yuri embraces his femininity without shame and accepts that it fits him more than being a typical masculine ‘playboy.’
Yuri wears Victor’s old outfit, and said outfit is intended to be relatively androgynous.
Yurio is also wearing one of Victor’s old outfits for his Agape routine.
The Yuri on Ice track is gorgeous, brings me to tears, and beautifully traces Yuri’s skating career in the form of a piano melody. It’s the perfect name of the song and for the anime itself.
The ending song sequence shows precious moments of intimacy, such as Victor combing Yuri’s hair, just to casually depict how much they love each other.
The use of Instagram in the ending and even throughout the show gives it such a modern, upbeat feeling.
The Yuri on Ice Instagram is posting those very pictures in the show as it airs (not sure about the ending song pictures, but the ones taken in the anime).
Yuri believing he is unsociable and isolated from some of the skaters, even though in reality they all saw him strip down and pole dance at the last Grand Prix banquet.
Yuri can break dance, pole dance, dance in general, and ice skate incredibly well.
Actual pole dancers talked about the moves that both Yuri and Chris did and how difficult they are to achieve.
The massive twist in episode 10 that revealed how Yuri made the first move on Victor, and how Victor fell in love that night.
Stay Close to Me and Never Leave Me is a man singing about a male lover. The song ends up being what Yuri copied, and Victor interpreted it as a real, sober call to him to coach (and more).
When Yuri said the title of that very routine during his breakdown, that’s what made Victor understand what Yuri needed.
Victor sometimes sucks and screws up when he’s trying to help Yuri (how he acts disappointed instead of supportive, tries to fix things through contact and intimacy rather than comforting words, when Yuri really needs motivational words).
Even though Victor screws up like this, they still are in love with each other and still make it work.
Victor and Yuri are clearly sexually attracted to each other and their eroticism is portrayed very artistically. We don’t need to see them screwing each other to know it’s happening. Their sexual intimacy is not explicitly shown and it’s part of Kubo-sensei’s respect for them as characters.
Even though Victor and Yuri’s sexual intimacy is shown here and there, it’s not fetishized or degrading. It’s simply a way to indicate that sphere of their relationship, and it’s totally normal and realistic.
Their flirtation and sexual tension is not the driving force in their relationship. As time passes and the series goes on, there is heavy focus on their emotional development.
The show feels like it is moving fast, but in actuality at least 8 months have passed from Victor’s first appearance in the onsen up to the latest episode.
The gender-neutral word ‘koibito’ is used often (even if the word ‘girlfriend’ is shown as the translation).
Kubo-sensei’s awareness and decision to make their world free of discrimination and normal treatment of a gay relationship, and her tweet stating this post episode 10.
Victor’s decision to assign Eros to Yuri and Agape to Yurio was not only for ‘surprise’ and not only because Yurio is only 15, but also because of Yuri’s sexual appeal from the Grand Prix banquet.
Seeing how Makkachin slowly began hanging out around Yuri more (following him on runs, sleeping with him, etc) says a lot about Yuri. If your dog trusts and loves your boyfriend, then he’s a keeper.
The thought that Yuri can’t see very well without his glasses on when he skates (and how he squinted at the score that one time).
The types of plushies thrown at Yuri are mostly food. The things thrown at Yurio are cat related.
The fact that young Victor had long hair to appear more feminine.
One of Victor’s previous outfits was a tribute to Johnny Weir, so it was a big tribute to the LGBT+ skating community. It’s even better that Johnny himself is watching Yuri on Ice and enjoying it.
Yuri on Ice ended up on the NBC Skating twitter feed because they were tracking Johnny’s tweets, and all he was talking about was Yuri on Ice.
Minami is so happy and supportive of everyone, and he absolutely admires Yuri. He is sort of like Yuri’s younger self.
Minami is the leader of the cheer squad for Yuri at Yuri’s place.
Even if he loses, Minami isn’t put down and instead uses his loss as determination to get even better.
Guang-Hong also decides to quit social media so he can practice. He’s sour about his loss but he doesn’t say something like he’s never going to improve, but rather, he decides he will work harder.
Guang-Hong and Leo’s relationship is adorably portrayed and obviously deep, considering Guang-Hong’s story and how he took a bullet for Leo.
Guang-Hong’s desire to make his country proud.
Guang-Hong’s obvious admiration and support for his fellow skaters.
Leo is Hispanic and representing America.
Leo’s coach is super hot (but that’s just me talking).
Leo’s admiration for music and how it motivates him to keep trying his best.
Leo’s desire to have people enjoy music just like him, and how he conveys this through his skating.
Georgi is very extra and everyone gets a kick out of it, but he’s still a really good skater.
Georgi’s free skate, ‘Tales of a Sleeping Prince,’ is about Victor and Yuuri, as confirmed when Phichit congratulated them on their marriage and it began playing in the background.
Even though Georgi could not get over Anya, the latest episode showed him on a date, indicating a happy ending for him as well.
Chris’s in-your-face sexuality is just iconic!!
Even though Chris seemed creepy at first, after seeing how he and Yuri pole danced together, it makes sense.
Chris seems to be a genuinely good friend to Victor.
The picture of Victor and Chris sticking their legs straight up.
Friendship is portrayed so beautifully in every way in this show in the simplest of ways.
Michele and Sara’s story was a bit odd, considering it is incest, but it was resolved well.
PewDiePie joked about his cameo in Yuri on Ice since he looks so similar to Emil.
Emil’s lowkey crush on Michele is amusing.
Sara’s lowkey crush on Seung-Gil is also amusing.
Sara’s determination to still support and love her brother, but also to continue with her own life and date people.
Mila’s beauty and her strength.
The friendship (and hopefully more) between Mila and Sara.
JJ’s family’s support.
JJ’s passion for rock and roll and how it motivates him to skate with so much energy and excitement.
Seung-Gil’s rainbow outfit.
Seung-Gil’s dog.
Phichit. Just Phichit in general.
Phichit’s amazing talent and friendship with Yuri.
Phichit’s genuine, adorable support for Victor and Yuri.
Phichit’s eyeliner.
Phichit’s selfie/phone addiction.
I reiterate: Phichit.
Yakov’s obvious care for his skaters, even if he yells at them a lot.
The fact that Victor looks up to Yakov so much and still sees him as the best coach he could have.
Lilia’s contour.
Lilia tearing up with Yurio was performing.
Yurio making pirozhki for Lilia and Yakov (and his cat).
Yurio’s sweet and pure love for his grandpa.
The way Yurio couldn’t wait to give Yuri his grandpa’s katsudon pirozhki just so he could brag about his grandpa.
Yurio’s genuinely happy smile.
The way Otabek doesn’t have many friends but he is determined to become Yurio’s friend.
When Otabek saved Yurio from his fangirls.
Otabek’s smile when Yurio was talking.
Otabek’s serious clapping when the engagement was announced.
The fact that Yurio claims he was “dragged into” a dance-off when he really looked like he was enjoying himself in the photos.
Yurio’s attempt at going “hang in there!” to Yuri when he was struggling on the ice.
Yurio remembering Yuri’s birthday and sharing katsudon pirozhki with him.
The way Yuri’s family not only supports him, but other skaters as well, like Yurio.
Victor and Yuri’s casual intimacy and touches that are clearly so natural to them.
The way Victor noticed that Yuri’s eyes shimmer when he’s searching for something.
When Victor and Yuri were holding hands in episode 10 as they went off on their date.
Yuri picking up habits from Victor, like saying Russian phrases.
Victor’s proud faces and shocked expressions when Yuri surprises him.
The way Victor and Yuri blush at each other and the things that they do.
The fact that Yuri looked up to Victor for years and that he was and still is Yuri’s inspiration.
Yuri loudly announcing his love at the conference.
The kiss in episode 7 that made Victor and Yuri the official first canon gay ship in sports anime.
The way Victor and Yuri looked at each other after the kiss.
The fact that “Love Wins” was said, which may be a coincidence, but that was the hashtag trending when gay marriage in the USA was legalized. Regardless, it was symbolic and powerful within the fandom.
The group selfie that Phichit took after the Cup of China.
Victor and Yuri sleeping together on the plane.
Victor cuddling Yuri when he tried to get him to nap.
When Yuri needed a hug from Victor but he wasn’t there so he tried to hug everyone else instead.
The entire airport reunion scene. The music in the background, the way Yuri paced back and forth on his feet before the automatic door opened, the longing look on Victor’s face, the way Makkachin barked at Yuri first as soon as he recognized him.
When Yuri asked Victor to take care of him until he retires and Victor smiles and kisses his ring finger.
How Yuri smiles back because he’s just so, so in love. The tender hug afterwards.
The way Makkachin’s tail slowly wagged when they hugged because he wanted love, too, and how he was standing against them demanding for cuddles as well.
How Victor told Yuri he never wants him to retire, meaning he wants to take care of Yuri forever. Yuri’s eyes tearing up after that as they hugged tighter.
The grip Yuri had on the back of Victor’s jacket.
Episode 10 in general.
The way Yuri and Victor kept saying things in Spanish as they went on their date.
When Yuri found the rings and his ears and face flushed red.
When Yuri put the ring on Victor’s finger and his hand was shaking slightly.
The way Victor’s eyes shimmered and he looked absolutely entranced with Yuri.
The tender way Victor spoke and put the ring on Yuri’s finger.
The way Yuri’s left hand twitched slightly when Victor took his right hand.
The flush on Yuri’s cheeks as Victor spoke to him.
The fact that the rings are a good luck charm to Yuri, which means so much to him and is representative for his culture.
Victor’s face when Yuri admitted he had no idea what happened at the banquet.
The way Victor was looking at his ring and smiling, thinking about the ocean of Hasetsu.
How angry Victor got at Yurio because he was insulting Yuri and their engagement rings.
The way Yuri held up his fist with the ring, looking confident that he will succeed.
Victor and Yuri are engaged and it’s not being made fun of. This is incredible for anime and certainly a big deal. And while some have told me, “calm down it’s just anime,” you do not understand. It’s more than that. It’s seeing a gay couple fall in love normally and be portrayed realistically and beautifully. It’s representation for me and so many others (especially male-loving-males). It means everything to us; it’s not “just anime” when it makes us feel included and validated.
The success of this series already and how it’s essentially guaranteed there will be more of the story to come after the season is over.
The potential of more canonically gay series like Yuri on Ice because of its success and reception.
Because of Yuri on Ice, people are bringing attention to other anime with canonically gay protagonists, and it is bringing attention to these other great series (No. 6, Revolutionary Girl Utena, etc).
The beautiful narrative of the show and how it makes episodes fly by because they are just so enjoyable.
The fandom-wide anticipation for Wednesdays and our mutual inability to think about really anything else.
The gorgeous fan art, fanfiction, edits and cosplays being created from this series.
The way this series is inspiring dancers and skaters everywhere.
The way it’s making so many people feel represented and validated, not just LGBT+ people.
The way Yuuri and Victor kissed their rings before Yuuri’s last eros performance.
The man with the Canada flag running enthusiastically for JJ.
JJ’s fiance and her undying support for him.
The way JJ tries to keep it together after a horrible loss.
Victor’s “davai!” at Yurio.
Yurio cheering Otabek on.
Guang Hong and Leo facetiming each other and watching the Grand Prix.
Young Victor’s black nail polish.
Phichit’s hamsters.
Phichit’s dreams of simply skating with Yuuri.
The way the story made us go from disliking JJ to really feeling for him and his struggle.
How JJ, someone who never messes up, is shown messing up. It tells the viewers that even the best of the best can make mistakes sometimes.
Chris’s mystery man and his cat.
JJ is annoying and cocky because he's hiding the crushing pressure of keeping his family, fiancée, and fans happy and pleased when they'd love him no matter how he did.
Yurio admired and had wanted to compete against Yuuri the whole time. He was so determined to face him as a competitor that he won almost entirely because he wanted Yuuri to keep competing against him.
“Phichit on Ice” and Phichit’s dream with those hamster hats.
Yuri and Victor crying at each other happily.
The pair skate.
When Victor meets Yuuri where he is in the pair skate.
Yuuri is in Russia, still wearing his ring and running with Makkachin.
The first and last words Victor speaks in this season are “Yuuri.”
The way Victor hugged Yurio.
Otabek’s ‘davai’ to Yurio.
Guang Hong’s ‘jiayou.’
Seung Gil watching the Grand Prix.
Mari, Minako and Minami all crying from joy.
The way Yuuri laughed and hid his face in Victor’s shoulder when Victor looked as if he was going to kiss him.
“See you NEXT LEVEL.”

Let’s talk about nutrition.
All the pictures above are of my Parrotlet, Mia, the ones on the left are from the first few months she came home and the ones on the right are more recent, two years after the fact.  I know I’ve done numerous posts on this before but I feel the need to frequently talk about this because it is a very common, very serious problem especially among smaller birds who are commonly brought home without much research being done.
Things to notice in these photos:
1st row, left image: Brown discolouration on the coverts, tattered coverts, brown discolouration on the rump feathers, broken rump feathers, grey/brown tail feathers, more recently moulted tail feathers are strong and blue with some brown discoloured patches
2nd row, right feather: Browning on the feather shaft and calamus, broken “cuts” in the filaments, some irregular colouring
3rd row, left image: Brown tummy feathers, splotchy brown head feathers
4th row, left image: Uneven beak, large beak gap, flakey beak, weak structure/ thin beak
5th row, left > right: 1st feather: Broken feather, brown discolouration, weak structure, tattered, brown shaft. 2nd feather: weak structure, faded colour, brown discoloured spots, brown shaft. 3rd feather: bright colour, black shaft, strong structure, some brown spots, almost back to full health
How did this happen? Improper diet and lack of exercise.
Mia was fed a diet of nothing but seeds with the occasional fruit or veggie as a treat, she was housed with two other parrotlets who frequently beat her up, keeping her away from food which suggests that she’d likely never actually had a vegetable until she came home with me. Due to this diet Mia developed something called Fatty Liver Disease or Hepatic Lipidosis which causes lethargy, depression, obesity, seizures, tremors, and an enlarged liver due to additional fat being stored which can then cause respiratory troubles.  Hepatic Lipidosis is typically caused by poor nutrition, high-fat diets, all seed diets, nutritional deficiencies, essentially not giving the body the nutrients it needs to process fats or giving it way more fats than it’s supposed to store.
What does it do? In serious cases, it kills them.
During the period where the bird is just starting to show signs of Liver Disease their liver tissues will be being replaced by fat, causing the liver to expand, the bird will start to appear ill with most common signs of illness, lethargy, poor feather condition, lack of appetite and so forth.  In more serious cases the bird may present difficulties breathing, the abdomen may swell, feathers will discolour (yellow, white, or brown patches appear most commonly), beaks may overgrow and appear weak or flaky, and in the final stages the bloodstream will fill with toxins causing neurological responses.  If a bird is kept on an all-seed, high-fat diet their life expectancy can be cut in half or even shorter depending on the species, their tolerance and metabolic qualities. If they develop fatty liver disease and reach the final stages they can end up with a matter of weeks or months left.
So why do I keep bringing this up? It’s more common than you think.
Budgies, cockatiels, parrotlets, lovebirds, quakers, and most other ‘common’ parrots you see have a very high risk of developing this problem.  Budgies and cockatiels are a ground-foraging species who eat a lot of seed in the wild, when fed improperly in captivity they will commonly develop Fatty Liver disease and have a much shorter lifespan, Parrotlets and lovebirds eat a lot of fresh foods and greens in their natural diet, when fed improperly in captivity they frequently reach the final stages and die in a few weeks or months.  Many birds develop this problem but it goes unnoticed by their owners, some cases have shown that 80% of the liver can be damaged and still show no physical signs, in those cases it’s sometimes too late to be fixed. So many birds are diagnosed with this problem and even more don’t even see veterinarians that we don’t even have a true percentage of how many birds are diagnosed with it.
How can you prevent this? Firstly, do your research.
Feed a pelleted diet
Daily fresh foods, veggies, fruits, beans, legumes, and sprouts
Plenty of exercise, flying, running, large cages, toys, swings,
Full spectrum UV lighting
Annual checkups and get blood tests done by a certified avian vet
Common problems like these can be so severe and dangerous but so easily prevented just by doing your research before you bring a bird home.  Giving them the basic care that they need can double their lifespans, even if your bird is a picky eater there is always a way to encourage them to try new foods. No matter how hard or how tiring it is you have to be persistent, you’ll be thankful you put in all those efforts when they’re happily living for 20-30 years instead of being ill for a maximum of 5-10.

IDENTITY V UNOFFICIAL SURVIVOR’S GUIDE 3.0 (LONG POST)
Outdated version:

Unofficial Survivors’ Guide 2.0:

Basic concepts are important to make you a decent player to play/ team up with. Sadly there aren’t many good guidelines on the internet teaching the basics of the game (Survivor’s side). So I decided to make one myself.
* I’m not a Pro myself and these are just my opinion, feel free to add on by commenting down below.
I have decided to divide this guideline into 3 parts: Survivor Overview, Rescue Guide and Basic Dos and Don’ts.
***********************************************
Survivor Overview (Picture 1-5)
To increase the chance of surviving and the team’s winning rate, it is best to understand yourself, your playstyle (Disruptor? Decoder? Kiter? Rescuer /Supporter?) and knowing when to switch by knowing all character’s characteristic.
No characters are bad as long as you know what to do with their skills. KEEP ON PRACTICE and you will soon master it. In some time, you will become a good player who everyone wants to team up with!
* The characters’ tier rank above is based on their overall abilities, team contribution and survival rate in the game.
Please refer to the pictures above for your references.
***********************************************
Rescue Guide (Picture 6-7)
It is important to KNOW YOUR ROLE FIRST before heading to rescue.
I’m sick of seeing characters like Doctor heading to rescue while there is PROPER RESCUER(S) present in the team (Please refer to the Rescue Order above),there are also things everyone must know:
===========================================================
7 Unofficial RESCUE RULES
1. No matter how bad the teammates are, it is a RESCUER/ DISRUPTORS’ job TO RESCUE/ HELP THEM.
2. Don’t wait till the chair bar is half full. The moment you finished decoded a Cipher, they are already dead, ALWAYS PLAN BEFOREHAND.
3. IT IS ALWAYS RECOMMEND TO HAVE ALL YOUR MEMBERS ALIVE THAN TO SACRIFICE THEM IN EARLY GAME.
4. All other Tier 3 and 4 characters SHOULD FOCUS ON DECODING, DO NOT COME TO RESCUE AND ALWAYS LET RESCUERS/HIGH SURVIVAL RATE SURVIVORS DO THEIR JOB unless they’re all down.
5. DON’T COME TO RESCUE IF THE PERSON IS DEAD FOR SURE (the bar is 80-90% filled up and your distance is far away), JUST DECODE/ LEAVE
6. PROPER RESCUERS ALWAYS BRING TIDE-TURNER AND everyone else without Tide-Turner should HELP BODY BLOCK THE CHAIRED PERSON
7. Only 1 PROPER RESCUER is needed while doing rescue, DON’T ALL COME AT THE SAME TIME JUST TO RESCUE 1 person, you’ll mess your team up by not decoding. Disruptor/ Supporter only come based on the situation (eg. Camping Feaster, Dungeon Rescue)
===========================================================
Proper Rescuer Guide and explanation:
Coordinator: She is the easiest Rescuer to master, if you want to be a Rescuer for starter, she is an excellent choice to choose. The reason why I put her the 1st one to head for rescue because she can’t decode (60% decoding debuff when someone’s on a chair). Besides, she can hold for 30% longer on a chair in case you messed up. She is more suitable for small maps like Red Church, Arms Factory.
Mercenary: The most reliable Rescuer out of all, he can take 2 hits including Doom Shock, Terror Shock and Detention with 15s delayed injured effect. In case you messed up, his arm pads allow you to escape( arms pads meant to boost yourself to rescue someone, not just use them up to kite). Naib is an end game changer and can hold for 30% longer on chair despite his slow decoding speed, he’s also suitable in all maps (MUST have him in big maps ). Most top tier Chinese player use Mercenary instead of Coordinator.
Cowboy: He’s a mixture of Kiter and Rescuer who relies on his lasso to perform all sorts of action. Despite his ‘gender base condition’, he’s still useful and rather flexible when it comes to rescuing. Compare to other proper Rescuers, he’s the only one who can choose when to use Tide-Turner ( Most of the time he uses his lasso to steal someone on a chair/ from hunter’s hands), plus he doesn’t have to worry about getting Terror Shock while rescuing, especially Magician and can make sure all female survivors last longer by taking hit for them. The only downside is he must have good aim and a clear mind on knowing what he should be doing, making him not the best Rescuer.
Forward: The Disruptor who can either do rescue, kite and mess with the hunter. The reason why I put him on Tier 2 because his main job is to disrupt while buying time for a better Rescuer to do their job. Compare to other Tier 2s, he has the best kiting base abilities without consuming his item, that’s why he should be the 1st Tier-2 person to assist the Rescuer(s). It is also important that he MUST bring Tide-Turner in case anything goes wrong.
***********************************************
Basic Dos & Don’ts (Picture 8)
Other than the list above, please refer to the last picture to understand the other basics which people should know before playing the game.
***********************************************
I hope these charts can help anyone who struggles to find the best character to play/ buy / generally want to weight the pros and cons, as well as being a more decent player who everyone wants to play / team up with.

I saw this post by @windsroad and my keyboard slipped. (C1 spoilers ahead! Read on Ao3)
————————————–
Pike arrived almost instantly—Scanlan and Grog at her side—just as she had for their first child, and their son after that, and then the twins, almost five years old now, after that. With her husband one of the most powerful arcane casters in the world, and holder of the other half of the gatestone Vox Machina had acquired all those years ago, it was simple for Percy to send Jarett to the Trickfoot-Strongjaw residence, miles away, to deliver the news that the fifth de Rolo child was on its way.
They teleported into the middle of the largely unused throne room in a swirl of purple and gold, and Pike quickly rushed off to the room where Vex was waiting. Scanlan occupied himself with waving hello to Percy, and then sending off a Message spell to Keyleth, in Zephrah, to hurry over.
Grog ventured out into the garden to round up the other four de Rolo children. They were delighted to see their aunts and uncles and brimming with anticipation at the news that finally, finally, their other sibling was almost here.
“If it’s a boy it’s gunna get called Percival too,” said Olivia from up on the massive Goliath’s shoulder.
“After Dad,” Jonathan added, sitting on the opposite side as his twin.
Grog thought about this for a moment. “It’ll be confusing,” he pointed out, “if they both have the same name. How will they know which one people wanna talk to, if they just say ‘Percy’ out loud?”
Julius nodded. “That’s what I told Mum,” he sighed, “but nobody ever listens to me. Even though I’m gonna be eight soon.”
Elaina sighed. “We don’t have to call him that,” she said. “We can call him whatever we like. Percival is just his official name.”
“So I could call him ‘stinky-poo,’ then!” Julius grinned, and Grog snickered.
“No,” Elaina frowned, “I mean we can call him by another name. Like how sometimes Mum calls you Vax.”
The children, and Grog, considered this proposal.
“Then what’s the point of having the first name, then, if you’re not gonna be called it? Why not just name him something else?” Julius asked.
Grog nodded his agreement, and the twins giggled as his large beard bristled against their legs. Elaina tried, and failed, come up with an answer.
“I don’t know,” she said, giving up. “We can ask Mum and Dad when it’s over, I suppose.”
————————————–
Percy paced outside the door as the strained, still-foreign sounds of the miracle of life leaked out from the other room. Scanlan, as he had the last four times, wore his most charming and reassuring grin in an effort to make Percy relax.
“She’s basically the Sun Tree at this point, right?” Scanlan said as Percy continued to walk back and forth. “Wide enough to fit a goliath, only takes six seconds to travel?”
Percy shot him a tired glare. “You still really know nothing about child birth, do you?”
The gnome shrugged. “Not a thing,” he admitted. “Pikey and I have talked about maybe having a couple of our own a few times, and Ioun knows Grog would go crazy with happiness, but we’re gnomes. Our, er, biological clocks aren’t ticking quite as fast they would for humans and half-elves. Besides, I still haven’t asked Kaylie about it.”
“Well, believe me when I say that I’d rather face the Chroma Conclave all over again, by myself with only one bullet, than stand out here not knowing if Vex—”
The noise in the room grew to a hush. For a long minute, there was soft whispering, then padding footsteps, and then the door opened and Keyleth poked her head out.
“Percy?” she called. Almost fifteen years later, she looked exactly the same. “You…uh…you can come in now.”
Both men instantly zeroed in on her familiar, profoundly awkward expression. She was worried—but not exactly afraid, more…uneasy.
“Is everything alright, Keyleth?” Percy asked. “Are Vex and the baby—”
“Vex is fine,” she quickly reassured him. “The baby…the baby…well, he’s healthy and strong, but you’d better come and see for yourself.”
————————————–
“All in all,” Vex’ahlia sighed, clutching the sleeping infant close to her chest in a soft, blue blanket, “we should really have expected something like this to happen.”
“I mean, it does make sense, right?” Keyleth tried. “It happens in the Ashari all the time, with genasi kids. I could name, like, six, right now, off the top of my head. There’s Oren, he’s almost nine now and really great at finding berries, and there’s Illianna, she’s actually younger, but amazing at elemental magic, and there’s—”
Pike put a gentle hand on Keyleth’s arm, and the druid trailed off, looking mildly embarrassed. “Sorry,” she said. “I just meant that this sort of thing is natural, especially for people who galivanted the planes as much as we did.”
Percy, sitting on the side of the bed, ran a hand through his hair. “But…but…but why this particular, particular kind? Why not, why not a genasi, as Keyleth said, or even an aasimar, I mean, you’re the Champion of Pelor, why…why did…”
“He looks just like you,” Scanlan said, in what could have been an effort to soothe, antagonize, or explain. “He’s got your eyes, and hair, and nose.”
Percy put his head in his hands. “Yes, alright, but even I never quite made it to having horns and red skin.”
“That might just be because he’s a newborn,” said Pike. “The skin part, I mean. And the horns are quite small.”
“And you can’t really see now, but he also has a widdle tail,” said Keyleth. “It’s very cute.”
“Darling?”
Percy turned towards his wife.
“I know the appearance of our child might not exactly be…cause for celebration,” she said slowly, “especially given our history with trouble. But today we are supposed to be welcoming our fifth child into our family. And that is cause for celebration. And make no mistake, Percival, he is our fifth child, Infernal heritage or not, mixed…mixed blood or not, he is just a child. Our child. And I will sooner leave this castle and take the other four with me than sit here any longer discussing the physical characteristics of our fifth any longer. Do I make myself clear?”
Percy, instantly mollified, nodded.
“I spent long enough as a girl worried about what the other children would say and do to me when they saw the way I looked. I spent long enough wondering why my father hated me, just because of how I was born. That will not happen to this boy. His experiences will be much harder than mine and…mine and his uncle’s ever were, unless we show him that there is never any need to fear.”
“I’m sorry, dear,” said Percy. “I…I just…I just know that this is my fault.”
Vex shook her head. “There is nothing here that needs faulting, Percival. There is just our new, lovely son.”
“I…I know. And, er, I should add that you are absolutely wonderful, and radiant, and I don’t deserve you, right?”
Vex allowed herself a small smile. “I thought that would be implied, but I appreciate the gesture.”
“Is he still going to be named Percy also?” Pike asked.
Vex studied her husband’s face, then nodded. “But we’ll call him Freddie outside of legal documents,“ she said, "to make things less confusing.”
————————————–
“You mother is very tired, right now,” Percy said as he accepted the other four children from Grog and allowed the barbarian to lumber off to where the rest of Vox Machina, minus two, were gathered together. “She’ll rest up for a little bit, and then we can go see how she and the baby are doing, alright?”
“Is it a boy or a girl?” Olivia asked as she was hoisted up onto Percy’s shoulders. “Have you named it?”
“Yes, dearest, it is a boy, and his name is Percival as well. But your Mum says it’ll be easier if we just call him Freddie.”
“But what’s the point of that?” Elaina asked. “Why not just name him Freddie, then?”
“It has to do with…with legacy, and things like that,” Percy sighed. “It’ll make sense when you’re older.”
“We’re almost five,” said Jonathan helpfully. “Me and Olivia.”
“That’s true, Jon, very good.”
“Can we go meet Freddie soon?” Julius asked, and hearing the name spoken by the lithe, raven-haired boy, all dark eyes and pale skin and ears slightly too pointed for a quarter-elf’s, made Percy’s heart ache.
“Soon, Julius, very soon. But first…first we need to have a little talk, about your new brother.”
He let Olivia climb off his shoulders, and then he settled each of the children down on the grass of the western courtyard, before taking a seat himself. When Jonathan started squirming on the ground, Percy allowed the boy to climb into his lap before beginning to speak.
“Freddie is going to look a bit…different from the rest of you. From me, as well.”
“Are his ears gunna be more pointy?” Olivia asked.
Percy chuckled. “No, no. His ears are just as pointy as all of yours. No, er…Freddie is…special. Not that any of you aren’t,” he quickly added, before there could be a chorus of protests from the quarter-elves. “You see, your mother and I, as you know, did quite a bit of adventuring when we were younger, and visited many strange places. And sometimes, when you spend too long outside of where you’re supposed to be, those other words leave a mark on you. And…it happens that the mark it left on me was strong enough to be passed down to your brother.”
“But, Dad,” Jonathan said, “you look normal.”
“Yes, I know, but I was already a grown-up when it happened. It’s…different for babies.”
“So what does Freddie look like?” Elaina asked. “Is he…is he okay?”
“Absolutely,” Percy said quickly. “And all of you, all of you mustremember that there is nothing wrong with your brother, alright? He’s exactly the same as the rest of you. He just has some differences, that’s all. Promise me, promise me that you understand.”
There was a chorus of agreements.
“Alright,” Percy sighed. “Well, Freddie has very, very small horns…”
————————————–
“Will it hurt him if I touch one?” Olivia whispered.
The children, and Percy behind them, were now clustered around Vex where she sat in bed, leaning against the headboard and holding the still-sleeping Percival IV in her arms. Elaina and Julius both stood at her side, and Olivia and Jonathan had climbed onto the sheets on Vex’s left and were leaning over her with immense curiosity written across their faces.
“No, but be extremely gentle,” Vex said. “I don’t want to wake him up.”
“Does it hurt that his skin is so red?” Julius asked.
“No, darling.”
“Does he have a tail?” Jonathan asked. “Only, ‘cause Dad said he had a tail.”
“He does, dearest, but it’s not for you to look at right now.”
“Will the other children be nice to him?” Elaina asked quietly, and Vex sighed.
“They had better be,” their mother said sternly. “If not, it’s up to the rest of you to defend him. He’s your littlest brother, and a lord of this castle, exactly the same as the rest of you. Understood?”
There was a series of nods. Olivia brushed her finger against one of Percival IV’s horns.
“It’s not skin,” she said, curious. “It’s hard.”
“Yes,” sighed Percy, “it is.”
————————————–
Their new baby was still asleep an hour later, as Percy fretted around their bedroom, piling unnecessary pillows around Vex and insisting trays of hot soup be brought up and mentally cataloguing the next ten years of birthday gifts for their new son.
“I was thinking an elegant cloak, for age five, just so he can get used to the Winter’s Crest attire Cassandra will definitely—”
His eyes widened. “Oh, Gods, did we send word to Cassandra about all this yet? She knew it would happen soon, but did we actually send out messages yet? Does she know, yet?”
Vex sighed. “I certainly haven’t been able to get up and write a letter, yet, if that’s what you’re asking. All of these pillows rather restrain my movement, and there’s been a baby in my arms all afternoon.”
Percy swore. “I’ll get to it right away,” he said. “Pike is still here, I can ask her to send it along, and if Cassandra wants to maybe pop over and see her nephew now, maybe there’s still a Treestride in Keyleth, or something, but…but what do I say?”
“What do you mean?”
“Well…well…Cassandra is the one in charge of the actual running of this city. That’s why she’s in Emon now, talking about the bridge. But that also means she’s going to have to announce the boy officially to the rest of Tal’Dorei.”
“Yes?”
“Well…well…he’s a tiefling, Vex. Is that…there’s no precedent for anything of that sort. Will the people accept him? What happens if they don’t? And what…what are we supposed to do?”
“Nothing different,” Vex said firmly. “He is our son, he is a de Rolo, and for gods’ sakes, we’re the damn saviors of this entire plane. If they don’t like it, if they wan’t to gossip about it, they can find a new city, and the next time a crazed demi-lich wants to ascend to godhood and subjugate the masses, somebody else can deal with it. Now, go find Pike. I want Cassandra to come and meet our boy as soon as possible.”
————————————–
“He’s gorgeous,” Cassandra gushed, and Vex started wondering if perhaps she had chosen the wrong de Rolo sibling to fall in love with. But then she saw the soft, pleased expression on Percy’s face, and reminded herself that no, her choice had been fine.
“He’s Percival Frederickstein Ludwig Maximillian de Rolo the Fourth,” said Vex.
“Maximillian?”
“Dad’s fourth brother,” shrugged Percy. “Vex liked the name.”
“I did,” she smiled. “And there was no way I was letting Klossowski be in there, I mean nobody ever knows if it’s pronounced—”
Percy coughed, red-faced, and Vex grinned at him.
“We’ve never had a tiefling in the recent family before,” Cassandra mused, “although I’m certain our history is long enough and strange enough that there’s been something of that nature before. How did the other little monsters take it?”
“Wonderfully,” said Vex. “They love their brother.”
Cassandra nodded. “Good,” she said. “That means their parents are doing a good job.”
“How have you been?” Percy asked. “Now that I think about it, didn’t the meetings in Emon end a few days ago? Unless, of course, you happened to be staying longer for a certain Lady of—”
It was Cassandra’s turn to quickly cut him off. “Perhaps we can discuss this later, brother,” she said to a cheeky grin. “Away from a child trying to sleep.”
Vex nodded. “He has been sleeping rather long,” she sighed. “Although Pike said that this was normal, and his breathing was alright. I just want him to wake up and see his whole family, all his brothers and sisters and aunts and uncles and oh, Trinket still hasn’t gotten to meet him either, we should fix that tomorrow.”
————————————–
Percival Frederickstein Ludwig Maximillian de Rolo IV awoke in the middle of the night, in his mahogany cradle at the edge of his parents’ bed, and began to cry. When Vex and Percy slid out from under the covers to check on their son, they saw that his eyes glowed amber in the darkness, and Vex’s keener half-elven eyes noticed that the boy’s tongue was purple, and forked like a serpent’s.
“Two more to add to the list, I suppose,” sighed Percy.
Vex gave him a look. “You’re not allowed to talk about lists,” she said, only half-joking. “Bring the rocking chair over, please? I think he might be hungry.
Percy nodded, and just as he finished moving the large wooden chair, there was a soft tap-tap-tap at the window. He glanced over. Outlined in the moonlight was an impossibly large, keen-eyed raven.
Vex looked over as well, and her expression softened. “Well, let him in,” she said. “It’s about time he came to meet his nephew. I half-expected Keyleth to bring him over, but I suppose he would want to make this journey himself.”
————————————–
At about dawn, Vex jolted out of bed, startling Percy out of his slumber and narrowly avoiding re-awakening Freddie.
“We’re idiots!” she declared. “Why didn’t we think of this sooner?”
Percy rubbed his eyes. “What? What didn’t we think of?”
Vex practically leapt out of bed, heading straight for the desk by the large window in their room. “I’m sending a letter to Zahra,” she said. “If anybody else should be told about this, it’s her.”
————————————–
In the month before Zahra was slated to arrive in Whitestone with Kashaw in tow, Cassandra had announced the birth of the new baby to the rest of Whitestone, and had sent out official letters to Emon and their allied kingdoms. Vex had also sent out personal letters to Allura and Kima, Gilmore, and their other friends, as well as another, slightly-reluctantly, to certain relatives, far off. The rest of Vox Machina had also decided to stay in Whitestone a little longer, to catch up with one another. And after a few weeks, for the rest of the de Rolo children, Percy IV’s striking appearance had faded to the background of the ongoing struggle that was the daily lives of the quarter-elves.
“He’s so loud, Mum,” Olivia complained at the breakfast table, Jonathan seated at her side and their hands over their ears. “Why does he keep crying so much?”
“You cried all the time,” said Elaina smugly, “both of you. And Julius. I was cried the least, right, Mum? Didn’t you and Dad say that once?”
“Yes, dear, yes,” sighed Vex, “but you still did cry quite a bit. Now eat your eggs, they’re getting cold.”
There had only been one slightly-troubling disturbance to the peace so far, and it had arrived in a swirl of bright lights and a flowing green cloak in the middle of the largely-unused throne room, where the teleportation circle to and from Syngorn was located.
Syldor Vessar appeared in the middle of the hall, a now older and more poised, though still rather rowdy Velora close behind him.
“I wish to see my daughter and my grandson,” he said.”
“Please,” Velora added.
He was stopped just outside the door the bedroom by Percy, looking like he had dressed in a hurry, with hair slightly ruffled.
“Ah, Ambassador. I admit, we weren’t quite expecting you at this time,” he said.
Syldor nodded. “Well, I would have thought you would have sent a message spell on the day he was born, like you did for the other four. But no matter, I am here now to see him.”
Percy paled. He was not equipped to handle this situation. He tried diplomacy. The real kind, not the weapon.
“I’ll go see if they’re awake,” he said, and slipped back into the room.”
When he told Vex who was there to see her, she bit her lip. “Bring them in, and then stand outside,” she said .
“Shouldn’t I stay in here with you?”
“No,” she said. “I would rather do this part alone. I’ll let you know when to come back inside.”
Percy allowed them through, and then stood in the hallway with his ear to the door. He winced at the initial gasp of disbelief, and his shoulders sagged when he heard a long, low stream of Elvish from Syldor, all reprimanding sighs and expressions of incredulity, then heard a dark laugh and the bewildered question of—why not an aasimar, that would have been incomparably better—and then there was an angry cry from Velora, and some hushed, furious words from Vex, and Percy narrowly missed getting hit by the door as the ambassador stormed through.
“This is your fault,” he said, either knowing that Percy spoke Elvish or not, and not caring. “This never would have happened if she hadn’t married you, Lord or not.”
Percy couldn’t argue that one. “I trust you know the way out,” he returned coldly, and watched Syldor stiffen but continue to walk away.
“He’s beautiful,” Velora tried as she watched her father leave. “You and Vex must be very proud.”
“We are,” said Percy, though he certainly didn’t feel it at the moment.
“I’m honored to have him as a nephew,” she said. “He really does have your eyes.”
“Would you like to stay the evening?” Percy asked. “I’m sure Vex would love to have you around.”
Velora considered this for a moment. “Sure,” she said, and grinned. “Those other dumb meetings can wait. And I should probably say hi to the rest of my neices and nephews as well, right?”
————————————–
Scanlan knocked on their door that evening, and saw himself in. Percy had his hand on Vex’s back, and Percy IV was cooing to himself in the cradle.
“I heard what happened with your dad,” he said softly, beret in hand. “I…um…I’m sorry.”
Vex nodded. “It’s alright,” she said. “I knew something like that would happen.”
“Look…er…look,” and his speech was so broken and uncharacteristically charismatic that they instantly felt the weight of what he was about to say. “I know…I know this is going to sound awful, and I feel like even more of a shit than usual for bringing it up, but, but I feel like I have to make sure you know this is an option.”
Percy and Vex exchanged looks. “Alright?” Percy said. “What do you mean?”
Scanlan looked wretched. “It…it really is gonna sound terrible,” he said. “But this sort of thing is going to happen to little Freddie all the time. It’s…it’s going to be pretty rough for him.”
“We know,” said Vex.
“Right,” said Scanlan. “So…uh…please don’t attack me, but I just want you two to know that if you ever think it’s a good idea, or if you ever want me to, I can…um…I can true polymorph him.”
In the silence that followed, Percy IV continued to make small, gurgling noises. He had discovered, last week, a specific mouth arrangement that would produce bubbles when mixed with spit. He was delighted.
“No, thank you,” said Vex. Her words were strained, and her face had turned red. “I appreciate the offer, but we’ll have to pass.”
Scanlan nodded quickly. “Good choice,” he said, and darted out of the room.
“He meant well,” Percy said as Vex began to cry. “He had good intentions.”
“I know,” she said, taking a shaky breath, “but he shouldn’t need to. I won’t…I won’t magic my baby into something else, just because other people are unsettled by him. That’s not…that’s not fair.”
“It isn’t,” Percy said, sighing and putting his forehead against hers. “It isn’t.”
————————————–
Percival IV babbled cheerfully as Grog lifted him into the air and flew him around like an airship. The other children ran around the giant mountain of a man, giggling madly and begging their own turns. Meanwhile, the rest of Vox Machina sat in the grass with Zahra Hydris and Kashaw Vesh.
“As far as tieflings go, he really isn’t that obvious of one,” Zahra said. “He’s got enough hair that his horns are almost unnoticeable, and his skin is really more of a reddish than an actual red. Plus I’m also not exactly an authority on my kind.”
Vex nodded quickly. “We know, we do. It’s just…you and your cousin are the only ones we’ve ever really met. So…we wanted to reach out and make sure we were doing everything right. Or ask if there was anything we should expect.”
“The tieflings I know are fire resistant,” Keyleth suggested. “Though I don’t recommend setting him on fire.”
“Zahra likes chocolates,” Kashaw shrugged. “And her teeth are sharp.”
“Oh, yes, watch out for that,” Zahra nodded. “Sharp teeth can be a bit of a pain. Oh, and put holes in his trousers for the tail. And when he gets older, he might accidentally speak Infernal once or twice. But other than that, he’s just a normal boy. No need for special treatment. He’s just a normal boy.”
Vex nodded. “Thank you,” she said. “We just…we just weren’t sure.”
“Is Percy the father, then?” Kashaw asked. “He’s too normal. Your other rugrats were mostly-human.”
As Scanlan snickered and Pike flicked him on the arm, Percy sighed and Vex laughed. “He is,” she said. “He’s also the likely cause of all this, what with his frequent trysts with demons in his youth.”
As Kashaw raised an impressed eyebrow, Percy’s face colored. “Not like that,” he rushed to say. “Not…no, not like that.”
“He wishes it was like that,” Scanlan grinned, and Pike couldn’t help but chuckle along.
“Is it the demon from your guns, then?” Zahra asked. “Or…?”
Percy shrugged helplessly. “I don’t know,” he said. “I hope not, because we banished that one to the abyss. The alternative would be the other devil I almost bound my soul to, Ipkesh, in the Nine Hells.”
“We spent a lot of time around demons,” Keyleth said helpfully.
“What was Ipkesh, then?” Zahra asked.
Percy shrugged. “Maybe a cambion? I honestly have no idea. It was quite some time ago.”
“He was sexy as hell,” Scanlan said, and after a glance at Pike he added, “but not the otherworldly being for me. I’m a holy man, now.”
————————————–
One night, Percy turned over in bed and buried himself into Vex’s arms.
“I hate myself,” he said quietly.
“Oh, darling,” she breathed softly.
“When I look at our son, I see my own mistakes.”
“Percival…”
“It’s damn truth,” he sobbed. “I don’t care that he doesn’t look like the others, and it doesn’t matter at all what his bloodline looks like. It’s just the knowledge that the things I did, the idiotic decisions I’ve made, are going to hurt him. Every time somebody calls him a demon, every time someone treats him poorly, it’ll be because of me. And of what I’ve done.”
Vex rubbed his back and whispered soothing noises into his ear. She wasn’t sure what else to do.
————————————–
Percival Frederickstein Ludwig Maximillian de Rolo IV was, as his siblings before him, christened in the temple of Pelor by an extremely grey-haired and now rather arthritic Keeper Yennen. There had been some initial doubt about whether or not holy water would have any effect on the infant, but either Pelor was watching or the water was just water or it didn’t matter for tieflings anyway, because nothing seemed to happen when Percy IV was lowered into the pool. He did cough a bit, but that was a normal reaction. Keeper Yennen was actually surprised; most children would have cried.
————————————–
Later that night, just as it had happened for his siblings before him, Percy and Vex woke up to find a raven’s feather in Percy IV’s bed. They added it to the collection.
————————————–
Freddie learned to walk quickly, much more quickly than his siblings had. He was slow to speak, but once he did, he almost spoke only in full sentences. By the time he was up and chasing his older brothers and sisters around the courtyards, most of the staff and frequent noble visitors knew that there was something different about one of the de Rolo children, even if they hadn’t spotted him yet.
“Luckily,” said Cassandra one morning at breakfast, “you two are beloved enough that nobody will really say anything about it, even if they are bothered. You’ve earned this city, hell, this continent’s respect, tenfold.”
Vex had a troubled expression on her face. “I am glad for that,” she said, “but it makes me think about all the other kids out there whose parents aren’t nobility, or saviors of the land.”
Percy looked helplessly at his sister. Then he nodded. “Freddie will do great things,” he said, “he’ll be able to prove to everybody else that your birth doesn’t mean anything about who you are. His mother did it. So will he. And that will help.”
"Nobody has ever told him he is anything different,” added Cassandra. “I’ve made sure of that. He’ll never think he’s something to be feared, and as long as I’m alive, he’ll never have to face any sort of prejudice from others.”
And Vex smiled, but the slight-frown still hung in her eyes.
————————————–
“Mummy,” Freddie asked as she helped him get ready for bed, “Mummy, why doesn’t anybody else in the family have a tail, or horns, or skin like mine?”
“You’re special, darling,” she said. “All of you are. Like how Elaina has very good aim and Julius is very good at building things and Jonathan can talk to the birds and Olivia likes to read about magic.”
“But they all look the same,” he pressed. “None of them look like me.”
Vex tapped him on the nose and gave him a soft smile. “Now, that’s not true, is it? You’ve all got pointy ears like me, and you have the same eyes as Daddy and Olivia, and your nose is just like mine and Julius’s. Your hair is white too, like Daddy and some of Auntie Cassandra’s. And we all have differences, right? It’s like that.”
Freddie did not seem entirely convinced, but was satisfied for now. “Alright, Mummy,” he said. “Okay.”
“Good, darling,” said Vex, and pressed a kiss to his forehead. “Good night, now. Sleep tight.”
“Wait, wait,” said Freddie, “can I have Trinket tonight? The twins got him last night.”
“Of course, darling, I’ll send that silly bear in.”
————————————–
On Elaina’s fifteenth birthday, her parents threw a grand celebration and invited every dignitary, every ambassador, every blue-blooded individual they had ever allied themselves with. They also insisted that Gilmore, and Kash and Zahra, and Kima and Allura, and every friend they had ever made come along, even going so far as to invite Dr. Dranzel’s Spectacular Traveling Troupe to pay, as long as they promised to only steal from the guests that Vox Machina weren’t the most fond of, Syldor included.
This was also Freddie’s first night in this public of an area, at five years old, and the first time he would be seen by high society.
“You don’t have to wear these,” said Vex, leaning down and handing him a small cap and cape. “But if you think people are looking at you too much, and you feel uncomfortable, put them on, alright? But only if you want to.”
Freddie nodded, and Elaina ruffled his hair. “He’ll be fine, Mother,” she reassured. “If anybody so much as looks at him wrong, I’ll shoot them.”
Julius snickered, and the twins nodded.
“Perhaps not that drastic, dear,” Percy said. “You can just fling food at them instead.”
————————————–
The whispering and sideways glances were almost palpable. Freddie shoved his cap on immediately, and looked down at his dinner.
“We’re sitting real high up,” he whispered to Jonathan. “Lots of people can see me.”
“It’s okay,” his brother reassured him. “It’s always like this.”
This was not reassuring. “Do I gotta be here?” Freddie asked.
“Yeah,” said Olivia. “It’s El’s birthday, and there are fancy people here. We’ve all gotta be here.”
He sank lower in his chair. “I want to go home,” he said softly. “I don’t wanna be here.”
Olivia slid her cake over to him. “Ignore them,” she said. “Those people are just butts that don’t get it when there’s other different people.”
He nodded mournfully and picked at the frosting. “I wish they weren’t,” he said. “I wish they would stop looking at me.”
————————————–
Though Whitestone itself had grown used to the presence of a tiefling child in their ruling family, rumors had begun to flit across Tal’Dorei. Percy and Vex started getting mail from other nobles that unsubtly asked after the health of their fifth child, or wondered if they might be able to one day meet their fifth child, or if there was any news, say from about five years ago, that they felt was important to share. One letter, that Vex immediately tore to shreds and threw into the fireplace, hinted that perhaps the city’s good fortune had been a product of Infernal dealings, and Freddie was the price they had to pay.
“If that bloody Duchess ever sets foot in this castle again, I’m feeding her to Trinket,” Vex snarled. Trinket, who had been dozing on the carpet, looked up with a mildly confused expression on his face. His muzzle was grey, but his eyes still as sharp as ever. Which was to say, not all that sharp.
“Good,” sighed Percy, “I’ll help you do it.”
————————————–
Freddie grew used to the whispering that followed him around the castle like a shadow. When he was with his siblings, it wasn’t always so bad, but any time he found himself wandering through the halls alone, the hushed tones and silent glances felt like lead against his back. Familiar, but heavy all the same.
But every time he asked his parents why he had a tail, or why he looked different than his siblings, or why he had red skin and yellow eyes and dreamed dreams of brimstone and smoke, they shook their heads and told them he was just special. That he was still normal. That there was nothing wrong.
Their words, and refusal to answer his questions with anything but a calm smile, burned most of all.
————————————–
“Elaina?” Freddie asked, poking his head into her room. He was eight now, and Elaina would be eighteen quite soon. He liked talking to his oldest sister; she was very smart, and super good at archery, and answered the questions that his parents always refused to.
She looked up from her bed, where she was polishing her bow. “Oh, Freddie. What’s up?”
He walked in and climbed onto her bed, like he’d done hundreds of times before.
“One of the serving boys told me today that I’m a tiefling,” he said. “And that tieflings are made when their parents are demons or owe something to demons.“
Elaina stiffened, though tried not to show it. “I see,” she said. “Did he say anything else?”
“Not really,” said Freddie. “He left after that. Am I a tiefling?”
She hesitated, then sighed. “Yes,” she said.
“Why didn’t Mum and Dad tell me that?”
She bit her lip. “They probably didn’t think it was important.”
“Why isn’t it important for me to know I’m not human?”
“Why is it important to be human?” she countered roughly. “And besides, none of us are, anyways. We’re all one-quarter elf.”
He shook his head. “You guys are one-quarter elf. I’m all tiefling.”
She raised an eyebrow. “How do you know? What if you’re one-quarter elf, one-quarter human, and one-half tiefling?”
He tried to count this on his fingers to follow her and frowned at his hands. “I guess…I guess that could happen.”
“You don’t look much like other tieflings anyways,” Elaina shrugged, not sure what else to say. “Your horns are little and your skin is more pink than red.”
Freddie considered this. “Auntie Zahra does look different than me,” he agreed. “But I also look different from the rest of you.”
Elaina shook her head. “You don’t look that different,” she said firmly. “There’s just a few things that aren’t the same. Mother tells you that all the time.”
He shrugged. “I don’t know if I believe her anymore, though.”
————————————–
A few days later, he took this matter up with Julius and the twins, as they all sat in the courtyard together.
“I’m a tiefling,” he said.
“We know,” they all said, all at once.
He pulled at his tail in exasperation. “Well, why didn’t any of you tell me that?”
“We thought you knew,” Julius said. “It’s not exactly hard to tell.”
“You’ve got a tail,” said Olivia.
“And horns,” added Jonathan.
“Well…well…yeah,” said Freddie. “It’s weird and wrong.”
“No way,” said Olivia, but there was a hesitation in her voice. “It’s just the way you are.”
“But why?!” Freddie demanded. “Why am I like this?! And why doesn’t anybody say anything about it? Why don’t people ever talk about it, and why does everybody just ignore me and tell me that it’s normal?! It’s not normal! I look nothing like you all! I’m a freak! I hate this stupid family, and I wish you all would stop hiding the things you know about me!”
The last sentence was visceral, and rough, and in a language none of the others could understand, and as Freddie screamed, a hedge in the courtyard burst into flames.
“Get Dad,” said Julius to the twins. “Quick, go get Dad!”
————————————–
“I’m sorry,” said Percy to Percy IV.
They were seated next to each other, both at the edge of the bed, Percy’s hands clasped together and Freddie’s feet swinging slowly in the air. Past the grand glass window on the western wall, Vex’ahlia was in the courtyard, rounding up the other children and speaking to them quietly as they all watched the bush being put out.
“It’s okay,” said Freddie. “I just want to know why.”
Percy ran a hand through his hair. “I did a lot of adventuring when I was younger,” he sighed, “and in those adventures I had dealings with…creatures from outside this plane.”
“Demons,” said Freddie calmly. “It’s alright. I know.”
Percy sighed again. “Right. Demons. One of them was named Orthax, a shadow demon I made a pact with to show me how to make the guns you see the Riflemen using around the castle, sometimes. The other was named Ipkesh, a resident of the City of Dis. He ran a tavern, actually.”
“Did you buy too many beers?” Freddie asked.
“No, not quite. I almost sold my soul to him, in exchange for the power to kill another demon.”
“Oh.”
“Indeed. And I still have my soul, if that’s what you were going to ask next. But, well, I did leave both of those instances…marked, in a way. And though I don’t entirely know why, when you were born, that mark was passed along to you.”
“And that’s why I’m the way I am.”
“Yes. I’m sorry we never actually told you. We wanted you to grow up normally.”
Freddie was silent for a moment. Then he gave his father a smile. “I think it would be more normal if you let people talk about me,” he said. “I didn’t like it when they said things behind my back, or worried about making me upset. That’s not normal. I’d rather they just know.”
Percy ran a hand through his hair. “I guess I just didn’t want them to know I was the reason why you’re like this,” he said softly. “I didn’t want you to know that this was my fault.”
Freddie shrugged, and gave his father a smile that was slightly unsure, but completely genuine. “I don’t care,“ he said. "Neither does Mum my brothers and sisters or the rest of our family. Isn’t that enough?”
Percy chuckled. “You’re a pretty wise,” he said softly.
“Thanks,” Freddie grinned, “Mum says I get it from you.”
————————————–
“Okay, if we’re gonna talk about it now, I’ve always wanted to know if you can hold things with your tail,” said Jonathan, and handed Freddie a stick. “Can you?”
“I dunno,” said Freddie, “I never tried.”
The children were seated in a small clearing that Julius had found one day, where the trees gave way to a strange little bench in the woods. Snowdrops blanketed the ground around them, and Trinket kept vigil from the side, as he always did when the kids went exploring the forest on their own.
“I’m glad they’re letting us do this now,” said Elaina, childish curiosity overtaking her desire to be the poised older sister, “because I’ve always wanted to ask you also if your horns get cold when you don’t wear a hat in the winter. Do they feel things? Or are they just sort of there?”
Freddie, trying and failing to fully grasp the twig with his tail, nodded. “They feel stuff,” he said. “I don’t like it when they’re cold.”
“How did you do that magic on the bush?” Olivia asked. “Because I can only do a Mage Hand and a Message spell, right now, and I’d really like to know.”
“I got sort of mad,” Freddie said, “and then it just kind of happened. It was sort of scary, though.”
Julius nodded. “I was afraid a little too,” he admitted. “But it was also pretty cool. Do you think I could do it?”
“Maybe,” said Freddie. “Do you think I could talk to birds?”
They continued to pelt one another with questions, finally able to breath under the lifted weight of an unspoken knowledge. And unseen by all except for one, a raven fluttered down and perched itself on Trinket’s shoulder. The bear gave a grunt of acknowledgement, and together they watched over the peaceful sight of five children smiling in the clearing, the oldest leaning against the smooth bench, the first son sitting among the snowdrops, the twins and the youngest boy running through the grass, barefoot under the mid-morning sun.
The bird cawed softly, and Trinket gave a rumbling reply.
————————————–
That night, just before bed, Percy breathed a deep sigh and collapsed onto the covers.
“I’m glad we told him,” he said to Vex as she combed her hair at the dresser. “It wasn’t right of us to pretend like there was nothing different about him.”
Vex nodded, and put her brush down. “I didn’t realize how badly it hurt him,” she said.
Percy gave a small smile. “He’s smarter than I ever was.”
Vex nodded sagely. “The second generation is always better than the first,” she said, and when she turned around there was a playful expression on her face. “Although, I think you’re pretty wonderful as is, darling.”
Percy grinned. “Come to bed,” he said, “and please say that again? I couldn’t quite hear you from over there.”
————————————–
Perhaps, one day, Percy IV would become a famous inventor, one to rival his father. Perhaps he would find himself in the service of Pelor, and deadly with a bow like his mother. Perhaps he’d become a world-renowned bard, or find danger and thrill in running over rooftops at night. Or maybe a statesman, or an ambassador, or a leader of armies. Perhaps he would become an adventurer, and save the world.
But for now, he was a little boy, a little part-elf, part-human, part-tiefling boy, relieved at finally getting answers and gently asleep in his bedroom, where the moon peeked in through the open window and a raven perched quietly on the wooden ledge.
It considered his soft snores, and slowly-rising chest. Then it ruffled its feathers, and took off into the night.

Chapter 7 - 10
Chapter 11 - Epilogue
.
Prologue : New World Order
- About 1 year after the war, one night in September(02:00-02:30)
- Naruto and Sai were in a mission to seize Garyou, the leader of shinobi group which did kill hundreds of people in Nami no Kuni
- Naruto managed to get to Garyou but then there’s a masked shinobi attacked him
- The masked shinobi use Hyouton: Jisarenhyou (地鎖連氷)
- Garyou said Uchiha Madara’s failure was trying to entrap the whole world into the Mugen Tsukuyomi in the same time. But he believed that they should be able to approach Madara’s ideals by other ways.
- He also said ultimate justice would be the equality of all humanity. And in order to achieve it, controlling individual freedom is necessary.
*This part really reminds me Psycho-Pass 8D;;*
- Naruto replied that what they’re trying to do it’s just bringing in hatred and sorrow to a peaceful country like Nami no kuni.
- Garyou’s reply ↓ There’s no country that have no hatred or sorrow. Nukenins who came to Nami no kuni were sick of killing each other and just wanted to live a normal life. Ironically, there’re nothing else that who had keep training in killing since their childhood like they could do. And that made people of Nami no kuni think that they can buy nukenins’ dignity with money + everything can be settled with money. People who don’t have money won’t be treated like human beings… the masked shinobi was so too.
-Garyou kept telling Naruto that the masked shinobi’s son was stung by a hornet and was transported to a hospital. But the child died since there’s no one who could heal him. All of a doctors had disappeared from Nami no kuni because they’re hired by Five Great Countries in order to provide a medical treatment for injured shinobi in the Fourth Great Shinobi World War.
- Naruto managed to bring Garyou with him by having Sai take them with a black bird.
- After that, Garyou was imprisoned at Hoozuki Castle.
*The set change*
- Naruto was talking to Inari.
- Tazuna and Inari were thought if the bridge is finished, everyone will become happy. But it’s turned out that after commerce went well, many people became a rich man, everyone just became like Gato. (concern about only money)
- At the time, Nami no kuni’s trying to make a new transportation system so Tazuna’s building an airship.
- Inari didn’t pleased with it so much. He knew that the new technology’s gonna make Nami no kuni be able to gain a lot of money. But it would also take a jobs away from people who were doing transportation work. Then those people would become to hate the airship(Tobishachimaru) and the carpenters who created it.
*Lots of carperters in the project were killed by Garyou’s group which did oppose the construction from the beginning*
- Naruto said money’s same as kunai or ninjutsu, it can be good or evil depends on the way one uses them + In his opinion, using money in the right way might be the best way to withstand people like Garyou.
Chapter 1 : Hesitation
- Kakashi kept postponing for the promotion ceremony despite the statue being finished in the mountain so much that everyone started asking about it wherever he went
- Tsunade told Kakashi that she understood why he was hesitant because she too used to feel so. Everything would not be the same after the promotion, but the Sixth had to be him only (because despite Naruto’s strength, he still lacked so many things which made him unready to become one.) + In the conference with 5 Kages, he had already accepted the responsibility
- Kakashi replied that he had the Sharingan at the time but without it, he couldn’t use Raikiri and that made him thought even if he became Hokage, would he be able to protect Konoha? Then he asked the matter to be put on hold until he finished the upcoming mission
- Kakashi told Tsunade that since most of ninja’re out, he’ll take jounin group to the mission+Gai’s&Shikamaru’s Group was in the mission at Hoozuki Castle (The prison in a movie ‘Blood Prison’) So he’s gonna have Naruto stay at the village.
- Since the prison’s guard leader: Mui has died, there’s still no one who could do his job.(Mui could get a prisons completely in control because his Jutsu, Tenrou make a prisoners’ body burn in a fire when they use chakra) So each villages had to send their shinobi to do a prison guard’s work alternately
- The mission was to secure the release of airship in Nami no Kuni. As the technology was wanted by many countries, Kakashi thought, if the news leaked out, many shinobis would come to steal its secret
Chapter 2 : Moment of the Century
- The grand ceremony of the Tobishachimaru were held in 2 months later.
- Tobishachimaru is 223 metres long, 34 metres in diameter, its maximum speed is 70 km/hr, and has six propellers.
- The MC annouced that the 57 people with invitations should be heading towards the ship for boarding
- A woman in a long blue dress was running and shouting to tell them to wait up for her. She stumbled on something near by Kakashi and he instinctively catched her and saved her from falling.
- After the woman’s gone, Kakashi talked to Tazuna that she seems to be really excited for the flight. It must be great to be a carpenter.
-Tazuna replied  by saying that she was a really beautiful woman.
*Their different focus points are quite hillarious for me www*
- He also asked about Hokage promotion ceremony + said he thinks it’s something like a wedding ceremony between Kakashi and Konoha.
- Actually Kakashi didn’t pay attention so much to what Tazuna were saying. He kept watching the ship and then he saw a man wearing a black hooded cloak jumped out of Tobishachimaru.
- Kakashi cut the conversation + started chasing the man.
- They had a little fight and it’s turned out that the man was Rock Lee…
- Kakashi decided to get into the ship and found Gai-sensei in engine room.
- According to Lee, Gai-sensei told him that if Lee doesn’t take him to Tobishachimaru, He’s gonna cut their student-teacher bonds. 8D;
- It’s stated in this part that Gai’s right leg could not be healed. But he could walk & stand if he use his youth power LOL
.
*Some conversation from this part*
Gai - “I’ll tell you,it’s not like I wanna get on board this kind of ship. I have no interests in the world-first flying ship at all. A view of the sky at 5000 m from the ground? How come a 223 metres long and over 200 ton ship could fly? I don’t give a damn about it!”
Kakashi - “……” (This guy’s really wanted to get aboard the ship no matter what it takes e.g. threatening Lee)
.
- The ship’s still a secret and Konoha needed to send a list of ninja who’s going to secure the ship and get on board to Nami no kuni in advance. Of cause Kakashi&Gai are not in the list. So Kakashi was worried if someone found them, they would think Kakashi&Gai are trying to steal the ship’s secret…
Gai - “There’s not gonna be a problem”
Kakashi - “Hah?”
Gai - “This sightseeing flight is a secret from other countries. So technically Tobishachimaru(The ship) does not exist. Thus, there’s no way we’re gonna be able to sneak to a ship which does not exist”
Kakashi - “Ah, I see”
.
- Gai was about to asked Kakashi to push his wheel chair so they can look around. But they stopped talking because they noticed that 2 men came in and doing something at the lower part of the room. (There’re few reasons which made Kakashi&Gai figured out 2 guys are shinobi e.g. They can move stealthily, their highly‐charged atmosphere )
- After the guys’ gone, Kakashi went down to check what they’ve done and found a kunai with exploding tags
- Suddenly, they heard a scream from the dining room lounge.
Chapter 3 : Attack on the Sky
- Kakashi and Gai left a wheel chair in kitchen and go to the lounge by crawling in ventilation ducts
- The passengers were surrounded by 7 shinobi.
- 3 Konoha shinobi who were in disguise began attacking.
- Both of Konoha Shinobi & hijackers couldn’t use large-scale jutsu since they’re on the airship. If Tobishachimaru get damaged, They all  are going to enjoy skydiving fall out of the sky.
- The man who seemed to be the leader of the group’s shouting “What’s Kahyou doing!” (華氷 - Frozen Flower)
- Kakashi thought that ‘Kahyou’ must be their trump card.
- Suddenly, white breath came from Gai’s mouth, they could feel that temperature were dropping down… and everyone saw the ice licked up from the feet to the head, swallowing the whole bodies of 3 Konoha shinobi.
- Kakashi told Gai that 2 months ago, Naruto did meet Hyouton-user in the mission. These hijackers must be Garyou’s co
- The leader declaired that they’re members of Dragon’s Wave Armament Alliance(龍波武装同盟) and demanded Konoha to release Garyou from Hoozuki Castle before 12:00, or they’re going to kill 1 hostage every 10 minutes. Plus, if Konoha have Uzumaki Naruto go there to save the hostages, they will explode the ship.
- The time was 11:30
Chapter 4 : A Conveyed Message
11:35
- A letter affixed to an arrow were sent to Hokage’s room. Messages contained in the letter’re the same as Hijacker’s leader said in the ship + there’re also an explanation how did they manage to get aboard
- Tsunade used a radio (which they started to use it after the war) contact to Nami no kuni to have them confirm what were written in the letter
- They found 12 people who supposed to be passengers of Tobishachimaru were locked in a place stated in the letter = which means the messages were the truth
11:40
- Shikamaru(who was in the mission at Hoozuki castle) said if they release Garyou, there’s gonna be people who try to do the same thing in the future. Besides, other villages wouldn’t let Konoha do such a thing just because of their own reason.
- Lee cut in the conversation and told everyone that Kakashi&Gai are on the ship
- Ino said she’s gonna try if she can contact them by shindenshin no jutsu
- Tsunade ordered Shizune to call every shinobi in the village except Naruto
Chapter 5 : The Execution
11:40
- Kakashi told Gai that they need to low the height level and asked Gai if he could get to the control room.
- Gai’s about to reply that they need to collect the exploding tags first. But then he’s feeling bad and started vomiting
- The hijackers noticed that there’re someone on the roof so they began attacking.
- Countless frozen blades stabbed up to the roof → Gai got away to the control room + Kakashi destroyed blades by his new jutsu, Shiden (紫電 - Violet Lighting, Sword Flash) and got out the ducts
- He found that he’s in a toilet and met the blue dress woman in there
- He told her not to scream + They’ve met before, and introduced himself that he’s Shinobi of Konoha
*Kakashi-sensei did introduce himself like this few times in the novel. I wonder if he’s not wearing the usual shinobi outfit??*
- The woman said she was in a toilet when the hijackers came in
- Kakashi brought her to the kitchen by using the way he came
- He summoned 8 ninken and told them that they’re on the sky + asked them to collect all of exploding tags in the ship
- Kakashi told the woman to stay hidden and was about to go back to the lounge when she called him to stop, and said she heard what the hijackers said + why don’t they just release the man called Garyou? The more they hesitate, the more people will get killed
.
.
.
"If consent to what they say even once, the rules of the society will fall."
"The rules? People who have been at war until a year ago like you are talking about the rules?"
"…"
"I’m sorry, but those people who like to talk about the rules tend to think justice is with themselves and war is the consequence when two justices clash. History will only accept the justice of the victor, which means the one who is stronger is the justice."
"I understand what you want to say. Dragon’s Wave Armament Alliance’s members also have their own justice."
"Then…"
"Even so, we cannot let Garyou go."
"Even in exchange with the lives of the passenger?"
"Watch me, I will protect everyone….
If I can say that, how good will that be?”
"…"
"I might not be able to prevent an ill-fated victim; however, I want to save the as many lives as there are in front of me."
"When two justices clash, the most important thing is to risk your life to put yourself in the opponent’s standpoint. Those who kill unrelated people just to let another listen have no rights to talk about justice.”
.
.
.
- Kakashi jumped down to the lounge and knocked down 3 shinobi in the blink of an eye
- The others tried to get to him. But their leader told them they couldn’t beat Kakashi + not to forget their job (watching the hostages) and had his subordinates go back to their position
.
"Copy ninka Kakashi… Without the Sharingan, you’re nothing more than just a normal scarecrow though"
"Well, There’s still something a normal scarecrow can do"
"What?"
"For example, getting rid of a pests like you guys"
.
- Kakashi said told the leader that Konoha won’t make a negotiation with them
- The leader grinned and pointed toward one hostage. Suddenly, his whole body was swallen by the ice just like 3 Konoha shinobi were
- Kakashi shouted to tell him to stop. Of cause the leader didn’t pay attention to him and killed 1 more guy with the same way he did to others
- The leader said it’s Kakashi’s fault since he intended to kill just one person in each time but now there’re two victims already
- He commanded his sub to take one hostage to the control room so he could tell Konoha what just happened + he also had his sub tie Kakashi up
- Hijackers punched Kakashi in the face + broke his index fingers of both hands so he couldn’t slip out of the rope
- After that, one more woman was killed
- Kakashi told them to kill him first. But the leader said he’s worth  hundred of hostages. They could use him against Konoha.
- Kakashi heard Ino’s voice in his head. She told Kakashi that Gai’s on the roof + 8 ninkens did collect all of exploding tags and gave it to Gai
- Ino told a plan that Gai’s gonna attack the leader so Kakashi could have a chance to brought the passengers to a storeroom + use a parachute to get out of the ship
- Kakashi replied that they can’t do that because there’s a hijackers in disguise in hostages’ group + he told her to send Sai to the ship and he’s gonna buy them some time
- The leader was about to kill another one hostages, but suddenly there’s an explosion in the stern which have an envelope+ propellers
- Kakashi thought they would panic, but one man came so soon to reported his leader that the fire is extinguished + the hole is repaired
- Kakashi said that it must be Kahyou who did all the thing with Hyouton + it seems that they have to play the trump card first
- The leader’s head was (axe)kicked by Gai at the same time Kakashi finished his words
.
*Some Facts about Gai-sensei*
- Gai-sensei was terribly upset with his broken leg. He’s shouting and crying when he was alone , yet he never stop training hard
- When he’s with Lee, he’s always smiled and told his pupil that a leg is just one part of body. There’s no need to let other parts, especially the heart become broken like the broken leg.
.
- Gai’s power made the leader went under the floor. In fact, it seemed that if there’s no circuit of pipe underneath, the leader probably got through the floor and fell out of the sky
- Gai talked to the passengers and told them to be relieved…. and dropped down on all fours + started vomiting(again) before he could finish his words
- When one of enemy were trying to attack him, Kakashi shouted to warn his friend and that made Gai raised his head → The anemy got head-butted
.
"Eh?………."
"T…That was my plan!!"
"Stop telling a lie with that pale face… more importantly, just cut the rope already"
"Roger!"
.
- Before Gai could get to Kakashi, the floor’s broken by a giant fist which came from underneath
"Rahyou-sama!"
"You’re safe!"
A hijackers’ calling their leader’s name
"Rahyo… that’s name of the man who’s gonna kill you"
*羅氷 - Ice Demon or something like that 8D; (‘Ra’ is the same Kanji which used in Gaara name’s)*
Chapter 6 : Deathblow! Seasickness Fist
- Rahyou’s jutsu’s called Saihyouzuchi (砕氷槌 - Ice Breaking Hammer) & Saihyouken (砕氷拳 - Ice Breaking Fist)
- Gai took his Nunchaku(Soushuuga - 双襲牙) out and started to swing it
- His skill seemed to scared Rahyou out. But them… again Gai began feeling not so well + Vomiting Orz
"Uh….. Kakashi….. I, I feel sick….. My leg also hurt…"
- Rahyou tried to punch Gai
- Gai, luckily fell backward and did kick Rahyou’s jaw (with his right leg + gypsum bandage)
- Gai was the one who most surprised about what just happened. But he (tried to)pretend that it was his new technique : Seasickness Fist (船酔拳 - Funayoi Ken LOL)
- Rahyou was very pissed off and started keeping attack Gai.
- Believe it or not, Gai did dodge the enemy’s attack so many times (while bend down to vomiting sometimes 8D;;)
- However, at last Rahyou’s fist began to hit Gai
- In the same time, Pakkun appeared to tell Kakashi that they’ve collect all of the tags and bit the rope off
- Gai got punched in the stomach → … Something which came out of Gai’s mouth have splashed to Rahyou’s face…. 8D;;;
- Of cause, that made Rahyou’s inflamed so he kept hitting Gai repeatly
- Kakashi said thanks to Pakkun + ran to Rahyou and was about to hit him with Shiden. But before he could get to Rahyou, Kakashi had to dodge a frozen blades which come after him
"Kahyou! What’re you doing! You should stay hidden!"
"If I didn’t throw a blades, you would be killed"
- A masked shinobi in white costume appeared

BOI I’LL TELL YA WHAT I WANT WHAT I REALLY WANT -
A live action solo Batwoman movie - distinctive noir visuals and vibes but with gorgeous and not-gaudy splashes of colour. Well-choreographed fight scenes and excellent style.
A Batwoman Movie. An army vet (or) an exemplary pupil at the United States Military Academy, earning top marks and easily rising to the head of her class…until she was dismissed from the school for being gay, comes back to her home city, dresses up in body armour and knees criminals and rapists in the face.
Tumblr media
Batman only appears as a part of her origin story (think Batman: Bad Blood the scene in the alleyway where she gets inspired) and after that is only symbolically alluded to in much the same way robin’s case acts as a symbol in the BvS movie.
And the entirety of the movie is based around her being a detective. A major scene will be her foiling a plot with the help of a jaded (seen it all before) pair of cops -one female and one male- Reneé and Bullock. Reneé Montoya becomes her love interest and is a badass in her own right who takes no shit, from anyone, least of all criminals or masked vigilantes. Bullock is Bullock.
Tumblr media
The movie should spend time showing the cityscape (in a way Batman could no longer appreciate by the time BvS took place / there wasn’t enough time to worldbuild then) and the coolness of Gotham :
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I want cinematic shots that make me feel the buzz of a modern city mixed with the work of generations of mad Architects!
I want to see a landscape of stone and neon lights- great expanses of sky between swooping buildings, a sea of clustered columns, spires, stained glass, intricate sculptures, ribbed vaults, flying buttresses; I want to see Gotham.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fog and adventure! Crumbling city blocks, construction work always in progress somewhere, alleyways and style~
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I want to feel how it would be to soar over Gotham City. I want to see it through Kate Kane’s eyes and I want it to be great.
Tumblr media
The dc live action Batman hasn’t gotten to show us who he is beyond his struggles against superman and the JLA or what Gotham is to the people who live there - partly because the dceu came late to the party and by the time bvs and justice league rolled around a batman solo movie wasn’t in the cards and partly because everyone thinks they already know.
A Batwoman movie is a great way to go about setting up the foundations of the batman mythos in a way that feels contrived if we try to do it with Bruce himself.
Unlike with Batgirl or Nightwing, Batwoman’s story isn’t tied up by her age, she like them is a legacy character who is defined by following the Batman’s lead, taking up the call to arms. But it’s not about Bruce with her, Batman’s secret identity is a non factor it’s what he symbolises that matters to Gotham’s people and to Kate, he’s not her dad or her love interest or her mentor, themes that would threaten to constrict the narrative if handled poorly in Barbara or Dick’s case.
it’s about crime and war and saving anyone she can.
The bats giving everything they have to help people, to save them, because neither her or Bruce could live with themselves if they did anything less.
It’s about kindness.  In the comics Batman is equally as gruff as in the dceu but he’s also a character who’s so ridiculously altruistic and principled that he sometimes makes superman look morally dubious by comparison. By using Kate as a means of explaining the base of the mission they share the core of his and her character can be construed without relying on another Batman origin movie.
Another thing the dceu hasn’t managed yet is that the cities don’t feel tangible to us, settings might seem like a minor thing at first glance, but the cities of the dc world are deeply tied to the characters that live there, almost reflections of them, The kinds of people that are grown there say something about the city, the kind of place the city is says something about the hero. As of now the dceu settings feel bland and hollow. In the comics however cities like Metropolis and Gotham have personalities, the places are characters in and of themselves and that offers something unique and subtle and deep to the narrative, even when it goes entirely unspoken.
Getting back to Kate, her relationship with her dad is a great opportunity to inject both some moral fibre as well as some much needed normality and grounding. Secondly her Jewish heritage should not be ghosted over with merely a mention of it. It could also work as a commentary on different types of prejudices and/or the military industrial complex.
The movie should have an after credits cut-scene dedicated to Montoya encountering The Question (Vic Sage) or going out as The Question herself.

The Story of Lt. Michael Fitton and the Shark Papers
(@pilferingapples @thiswaitingheart @twofrontteethstillcrooked and @artificialities thank you for your Shark Papers support. @plinytheyounger as always thank you for listening to me BREATHLESSLY relate this on mobile during the workday.) and now
IT IS TIME for the story. The story of.....
Lt. Michael Fitton and the Shark Papers.
This story has every element necessary to a good story, those being:
 Breakfast
 Sharks
 Paperwork
I accidentally stumbled upon the story of Lt. Michael Fitton and the Shark Papers last night in the following nigh-inscrutable anecdote about HMS Abergavenny:
“The tender Ferret and the cutter Sparrow were involved in a curious incident in which Ferret's captain, Acting Lieutenant Michael Fitton, served a shark to Lieutenant Hugh Wilie, captain of Sparrow and then surprised him with some papers.”
Reading this I have no idea what the fuck. You served someone a shark and “surprised him with some papers”? Like fine but. Why? Let us find out.
DISCLAIMER: I should warn you that this is not a legitimate academic inquiry into the Shark Papers, and certainly there are Shark Papers experts more expert than myself. But do they have my current feverish Shark Papers enthusiasm? I think not! Also it seems that the story of the Shark Papers, as with many good stories about sharks and/or papers, has split into many apocryphal directions. Still. It is time for the story......of Lt. Michael Fitton and the Shark Papers.
The year is 1799. The place, the Mona Passage. The West Indies? Very confusing trade wise. America? NEUTRAL in the war between England and France (despite fighting an undeclared war with France) honestly because we were busy with, I assume, an escalating workplace prank war between John Adams and Alexander Hamilton.
This was, in general, a very unsafe region in which to be an American merchant ship, fearing as they did not only harassment by the French but also sometimes the Royal Navy, Spanish, and Dutch as well as the prospect of returning home to find that Adams had superglued Hamilton’s wig to his head or released bees into his desk drawer.
Into this tense climate sails a brig called the Nancy.
A Lieutenant Hugh Wylie of HMS Sparrow, finding it suspicious in some way captures the ship and escorts it to Port Royal to find out exactly what is going on.
The captain of the ship, whose name is Thomas Briggs, insists that he has done nothing wrong. In some versions of the story his insistence is based on just straight the fuck up telling Wylie he and all his crew are Dutch. In other versions just his paperwork is Dutch, authorizing him to trade some goods in Curacao.
Either way, this story/paperwork/situation seems to check out with the prize court, and involve Holland somehow, and Lt. Wylie leaves Port Royal in disappointment.
Two notes on the character of Lt. Wylie (courtesy of Mr. Fitton):
(1) He seems to be dehydrated:
Tumblr media
(2) Although he abhors the pope, he would save the pope from drowning if the pope happened to be drowning nearby:
Tumblr media
HMS Sparrow rejoins the unfortunately-named HMS Ferret, which is being commanded by Acting Lieutenant Michael Fitton, of whom we know much more. He got up to a lot in his career, including the capture of some “30 or 40″ enemy ships and a great deal of derring-do, most notably during an action with the Spanish Santa Maria during which:
“Lieutenant Fitton leaped overboard; and, with his sword in his mouth, followed by the greater part of his crew similarly armed, swam to, boarded, and after a stout resistance carried, the Spanish schooner.”
He shows up injured twice, once after having been run over by a gun and once after falling down a hatch during a hurricane. Most intriguing of all is the delicious but, it seems, receipts-less tea spilled on wikipedia:
“Fitton never received a promotion beyond the rank of lieutenant. Not only did he lack a powerful patron but there is some suggestion that he may, by injudicious conduct early in his naval career, have made a powerful enemy.”
He is the main character in the 11 novels of the “Lieutenant Michael Fitton Adventures” which I have not read but have very disappointingly thwarted my nascent ambition to sit down and write 11 novels about him.
Unknown is whether he would save the pope from drowning if the pope happened to be drowning nearby.
On Wylie’s return, Fitton invites him to breakfast by signal and while killing time waiting for Wylie to come over he notices a dead cow in the water and associated sharks (Ferret was a tender ship to Abergavenny, and presumably on supply ships you do end up with a few dead cows in the water from time to time). One shark in particular catches his eye and  and decides he wants a shark cartilage walking stick, apparently must-have accessory:
Tumblr media
He catches the shark and gets a guy to butcher it. Inside the shark they discover a metal container and inside, some papers tied up with a string. The sailor who had been butchering the shark makes a joke:
Tumblr media
In the retelling of this story, this joke remains, but gets less funny. By 1820 we hear nothing of this sailor’s “old blowing”:
Tumblr media
Interestingly enough Fitton does not seem to be exaggerating his role in catching the shark, as he repeats it under oath:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We never know if he got his walking stick.
Fitton, figuring any papers you find inside a shark are probably worth something, dries them out and reads them, and discovers they relate to an American ship Nancy.
In some versions of this story this alone is the required proof -- the ship is American. In others, it shows her original orders, which are French and not Dutch. Fitton just calls it “mercantile affairs.” The most likely version, because it is the most complicated, and because it has as its end goal the acquisition of coffee, is that the shark papers formed part of a paper trail proving that the ship deposited its original, legal cargo on Aruba, where it took on illegal cargo, armaments which were sold to the French in Haiti (for coffee).
Either way, the shark had given Fitton receipts on the Nancy. Wylie, throughout this course of events, has still been rowing over. By now he has made it.
And he wants breakfast:
Tumblr media
Fitton drags it out and some more delightfully period dialogue ensues:
Tumblr media
You’ll be a boy all your life-time, Fitton!
They go back and forth and Wylie is increasingly frustrated by how much Fitton seems to know about the Nancy (his disappointment at losing the prize presumably still fresh) and STILL wanting breakfast. Hilariously, he seems fairly convinced that the American supercargo is in fact Dutch because his last name is Schultz, lending some credence to the “fake Dutch” version of events:
Tumblr media
Fitton explains (but very annoyingly) that he knows all of this because he read it in the Shark Papers. Wylie cannot wrap his mind around the Shark Papers, which are in fact pretty far-fetched, and having heard Fitton explain the situation one too many times, STILL with no breakfast in sight, finally loses his patience with the breakfastless situation. I know people like this. Do you know people like this?
Tumblr media
The story is almost over.
Wylie gets breakfast. In most cases, this breakfast is the shark. In every case, gratifyingly, the breakfast exists, which is a nice thing to know about a man in 1799 who so ardently wanted breakfast.
Then he rows back to his own ship and apparently goes about his day for a while before it all dawns on him that Shark Papers are just the smoking, sharky gun he needs to reverse the prize court’s finding about the Nancy, and immediately orders Fitton to accompany him back to Port Royal, where they and the shark papers are deposed, and the captain of the Nancy convicted of smuggling.
It is possible that the Shark Papers were only half of the evidence, the other half being provided by additional papers discovered in a pork barrel:
Tumblr media
So hard drove........into the pork? or in the barrel?
In some versions, news gets ahead of them (though I can’t imagine how?) and Briggs escapes, leaving the Nancy behind. In a fictionalized account that one hopes is inspired by the real thing, he blames the shark, “...swinging out of court, exclaiming,
Tumblr media
Wylie made £3,000 and Fitton £1,500 for his role in uncovering the Shark Papers.
But our hero is not done yet.
Tumblr media
The shark jaws remained in Port Royal until they were lost after an earthquake; the Shark Papers were still in the museum of the Royal United Service Institution as of 1889, but my google image search of “royal united service institution museum shark papers” only yielded pictures of sharks.
Here ends the Story of Lt. Michael Fitton and the Shark Papers. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk on/Drunk History episode about this important subject.
I think there are morals to this story:
1. Sharks will eat anything, even and especially your secrets.
2. If a shark has eaten your secrets, your secrets are not necessarily safe.
3. If the pope is drowning nearby, it is a mark of good character to save him, even if you don’t like him
4. Sometimes all that’s standing between you and a shitload of prize money is your annoying friend, a dead cow, the desire for a walking stick, some patience with fishing, and one shark.

  .
Addendum: Fitton’s career began with the discovery of some secret papers in the ocean, too. When he was 14, having just entered the service as a Captain’s Servant on HMS Vestal:
“...he witnessed that of an American packet having on board Mr. Laurens, ex-President of the Rebel Congress, who was proceeding to Holland with a secret treaty of alliance with the Dutch. This treaty, previously to the actual capture of the ship, had been thrown in a bag overboard, and would never have been discovered but for Mr. Fitton, who, being at the moment employed in furling the fore-top gallant sail, observed what he considered to be a man overboard, and instantly made a report which led to its recovery. A declaration of war against the Dutch, and the immediate sweeping of their numerous vessels from the face of the sea, were thus the momentous results of Mr. Fitton’s keenness.”
Michael Fitton, pulling receipts on from the ocean and its sharks since 1780.

Legion Season 2: Heroes and Villains
Hold on to your hats, this is a long one.
Essential to the Shadow King's plot against David was the whole idea of heroes and villains, and the enforcement of that dichotomy.
What is a good person? Lenny is asked if she's a good person and rejects it, while David tries to convince himself he is one. Syd defends him as one when questioned by Clark. Melanie!Farouk counters that David is a psychopath.
"I was in Clockworks for six years. Drugged, doing nothing. Contributing nothing. And now, finally, I can be useful. I can help. Don't you get it? I am so sick of myself."
I don't think David ever wanted to be or thought of himself as a hero, not until Farouk put the idea into his head. David does however want to be a good person. We know how low his self-image is. I think it's easy to forget that he tried to kill himself. That he did it with the deep conviction that he was a broken plate that needed to be thrown away. That the voices didn't tell him to do it, but "they tried to stop me." It was in some ways a deeply sane and rational act in reaction to a lifetime of incredible pain.
David never stopped thinking of himself as a broken plate. That's why he has his affirmations. That's why he's so emotionally fragile. The failures of Clockworks aside, it seems no amount of therapy could make him stop hating himself.
Syd "woke him up", and what does that mean? On one level, it means she gave him something to live for. Something genuinely good in his life that he hadn't ruined. I think being unable to touch her, unable to have a normal life with her, was why she was safe enough for him to fall in love with, because their love could never be "real." What they had in Clockworks was a kind of fantasy (or delusion), glossing over the harsh reality that David was sick and institutionalized and likely would remain so for the rest of his life. That Syd would get better and leave but they both knew he wouldn't, and then David would go back to sleep because sleep was the only alternative to another suicide attempt. I think he would have tried again if he had the chance, once she was gone. And he would have tried again until either he succeeded or Farouk ate him whole.
"Well, why can't you have what everyone else has? A nice home, a family?" "Because I'm sick."
And then David had the most insane five weeks of his life.
It's also easy to forget how little time has passed for him. After he escaped Clockworks, he lived with Amy for a week before Division 3 caught him, and then all the events in Summerland are only about another week or so. It's surely only a day or two between Farouk escaping in Oliver and David being snatched by Future Syd's orb. And then we know for a fact that Season 2 only takes a couple of weeks from start to finish.
Five weeks to go from suicidal and institutionalized to chaotic escape to discovering the horror of his possession and that his entire life has been a lie; to go from elation and victory and freedom and the first pure joy he can remember, to an immediate plunge into confusion and lies and self-betrayal as he's forced to help Farouk, to a season-long torture session as Farouk patiently drives him into a psychotic break while also pouring poisonous ideas into his head about being a hero and a god. It's no wonder he never stood a chance.
So in those five weeks, is David a good person? He desperately wants to be. He wants to be useful. He wants to be able to give something back after a lifetime of being/feeling like a burden on others. Melanie (and Ptonomy and Cary and Oliver) mostly convinces him that he's not actually sick, that all his problems were caused by his parasite and the confusion over his mutant abilities. I think he never quite swallows that, but he desperately wants to believe it. And why not? Who wouldn't want to get a fresh start after so much suffering?
"You know the most dangerous thing about schizophrenia? The most dangerous thing is believing you don't have it. That's the trick. The mind killer. Your disease convinces you, you don't have it. So, for example, one day in the hospital, you meet a girl and she has some friends and they tell you you're not sick. You have super powers. And more than anything, you wanna believe it because that means you're not crazy. It means you can fall in love and live happily ever after. But you know if you believe it if you surrender to the hope and you're wrong, then you're never coming back."
David surrendered to the hope that he could be healthy and happy, when the pressure was on, that hope broke him.
"You and I, we are les dieux. Gods. What did John Lennon say? Bigger than Jesus."
"Do what you want. Take what you want. Gods make rules. They don't follow them."
"Who teaches us to be normal when we're one of a kind?"
"And that's it? No super-villain-destroy-the-world bullshit?"
From the moment David agrees to cooperate with Farouk at Future Syd's behest, Farouk gets to work shaping David's post-possession narrative. This isn't the story about a victim and his parasite anymore, it's two equal and opposing forces, each with their own glass jar of justice, filled with hurt and hate. He tells a story about how he did terrible things because "if the choice is between death or life I choose life." He encourages David to be godlike, to make the rules, to take power over other people and by doing so treat them as lesser, as ants and playthings. And who else does David have to turn to to understand the moral limits of his powers? Farouk took Oliver away, and he took Melanie, too, both his teachers. There's no one else who can even begin to understand.
"You should be immune now, but--" "We are?" "Yeah. I did a little thing before we left." "You did a thing in my head?"
Farouk's lessons start creeping into David's actions. When the Monk's chattering virus puts Melanie and Ptonomy into mazes, David "does a thing" that will protect them without their consent. He sees something bad in their minds and fixes it because of course he does. What else is he supposed to do? He's not doing anything wrong. He's helping them. When the delusion monster takes over D3, David does the same thing again, plucking "a bad idea" out of Syd and Clark's minds. He's being a good person, a hero destroying a monster, he's helping them. No one questions his actions here, which only reenforces them. So when Farouk puts another "bad idea" into Syd's head in Le Desolé, what else David he supposed to do but take it out just like he did before? He can't let Farouk win, can't let the villain hurt the woman he loves. And then Syd turns against him and he breaks. His mind breaks, and in psychotic desperation he stops holding back, he tries to be a god, and everything falls apart.
"You were right. About David. He's a world-breaker. And if you'd killed him before he figured that out, then maybe your tactical forces and what is it? World coalition? Maybe that would've impressed me. But not now. Well, kid you better learn to fly like a bird, because the age of the dinosaur is over."
It's that hero/villain dichotomy that has the biggest payoff for Farouk. For this we need to step back and look at the larger picture of the show's moral universe. Our initial conflict is between Division 3 and mutantkind. David is made out to be the "key to winning the war." He repeatedly questions this assumption before reluctantly embracing it and using it not to win, but to scare Division 3 into making peace. After he's orbed, Melanie and Syd are able to complete this transition, and a year later, Division 3 is still hunting mutants, but only "our real enemies", in particular the Shadow King. The Summerlanders have moved from a position of unity of mutantkind, to collusion with a police force against the outliers of mutantkind. The question then becomes: who are "our real enemies", the mutant villains?
Division 3 does not trust David. They never trusted David. Fukuyama would rather kill David in Chapter 9 if there's even a chance he's infected with the chattering virus. Clark, despite his soft spot for David, considers David to be dangerous and unstable and liable to end the world just by accident. It would be comically easy for Farouk to convince Division 3 that David is a villain who needs to be captured and killed even without all of this byzantine plotting. Division 3 probably would have done on their own except they needed David to stop Farouk. They were willing to put aside any morals or qualms in service of their greater goal, just as they were in employing sadistic, villainous mutants like The Eye. Division 3 has always been morally compromised. In fact, I'm not even sure that Farouk did more to sway them than convince them that David is the more dangerous of the two of them. As soon as David gave them Farouk, it was only a matter of time before Division 3 turned on him, because they didn't need to tolerate his existence any longer. Ultimately it doesn't matter, because Division 3 isn't Farouk's main target. It's Syd.
"Lady I'm not treating him. He's my man. Which means I care about what he wants. What we want. I could give a shit about how he fits in here."
"Junkies and masochists and hookers, and those who have squandered everything are the ring of brightest angels around heaven."
Syd doesn't believe in dichotomies. She was never interested in Summerland's greater goals, and despite her high position in Division 3, I don't think she cares about their goals either. Let us not forget that Syd was diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder, that her happy place was a cartoon island with a single palm tree. She's self-isolating and has little tolerance for social structures and "-isms." If she's anything, she's an anarchist in the classical sense: she believes in the absence of authority.
Like Farouk, Syd believes in survival, by whatever means that survival requires. Syd also knows more than anyone but maybe Amy just how damaged David is. She knows how fragile he is and tries to make him tougher, to make him use his pain as armor, because that's what (mostly) works for her. Ultimately that only makes things worse because David's true armor is his fragility. Convincing him that he needs to be tough (read: closed off, defensive, self-isolating, pain-proud) only ends up pushing him further along Farouk's path. This does NOT mean David's psychotic break is her fault, it's just a tragic case of mismatched survival strategies. She's just as broken as he is, in many ways, and sometimes broken people help each other and sometimes they make each other worse.
"If I said that you should do it, then you should do it."
"Are we helping him? Farouk. What about the end of the world?" "One thing at a time."
"It's not your fault. This is their power, the mind readers. They read our minds and then they show us what we want to see. We can't trust them. You have to trust yourself. The person you've become in the future."
"Don't you trust me?" "Maybe I just trust myself more."
So how does Farouk convince Syd to turn against "her man"? Syd believes in survival, not morality. She doesn't care about heroes and villains. She's as grey as they come. But Syd does have a weakness: she doesn't trust anyone but herself. It's a bit of an ouroboros, frankly, and not the strongest part of the season, but ultimately: Syd trusts that her future self made the right choice, and if the right choice is saving Farouk and killing David to save the world, then that's what she has to do. It's David's decision to stop helping Farouk and thereby stop helping Future Syd that really begins to split them apart. David proves untrustworthy to her future self, and therefore David proves untrustworthy to her current self.
"So strong is our belief that a pattern must exist that the human mind will project the pieces that don't fit."
"And when we are stressed or our beliefs are challenged, when we feel threatened, the ideas we have can become irrational, one delusion leading to another, and another, as the human mind struggles to maintain its identity. And when this occurs, what starts as an egg can become a monster."
In order to reconcile the reality of her apparent future, in order to preserve her sense of identity and the solidity of her only source of trust (herself), Syd accepts Farouk's premise that David is a psychopath, that he has to be stopped, that he's the villain, and who else stops the villain but the hero? She looks at the images of David, fractured and isolated from their true context, and she sees the pieces of the pattern that she needs to see. And then she goes out and she shoots a bullet at "her man."
*takes a breath*
"You know, my doctor used to say that the word "monster" is not a noun, that to be a monster, you've first got to do something monstrous."
So now let's bring this back to David. David, the emotionally fragile mess of a human being with godlike mutant powers, the lifelong victim and suicidal patient who desperately wants to be a good person, to have value to someone, to anyone. Who desperately wants to not be sick anymore because he believes that being sick means he doesn't deserve to be loved or have anything good in his life. Who wants to be anything other than the monster that deep down he's always believed himself to be. Who has only been free of his torturer parasite for two goddamn weeks, and in those two weeks that parasite has surrounded him at every turn and tortured him and progressively picked off almost his entire support system.
Of course he was going to fuck something up.
I don't consider what he did to be rape. I'm sorry, I hate having to do this, I hate that Hawley has put me in this position. Believe me, I'm team #MeToo, and the last thing I want to do is downplay Syd's very real sense of violation. It was real for her. But this show doesn't really do real.
David fucked up, but that doesn't make it rape. Farouk made it rape after the fact. David took the "bad idea" out of her head (without her consent, without telling anyone, generally doing a terrible job of handling things), and then in the middle of a psychotic break, with his entire sense of self disintegrating around him and giving him bad advice, he tried to hold on to the only good thing in his life. The one person who gave him a reason to live when he had absolutely nothing left. She was drunk but he didn't force her. It was consensual, if consent can exist between two people who are in absolutely terrible mental and emotional states. I don't believe you can claim that Syd was raped because she wasn't mentally competent when David wasn't mentally competent either.
Without Farouk's whispering mouse (calling back whispering Ptonomy and his eggs), Syd would probably have woke up with regret but not violation. We don't know what the mouse said to her. Maybe it told her that David wiped her memory. Maybe it told her that David drugged her before he had sex with her. Maybe we'll never find out. The result is the same.
ETA: UGH. Fuck Noah Hawley. I have to add this because he has said in interviews that David did rape her and that was Hawley’s intent. Fine, I give up, he raped her. But David was still extremely NOT mentally competent at the time and I refuse to ignore that. Also, if that was sufficient for it to be rape, why did Farouk need to use his whisper mouse on Syd? I really loathe having to defend this scene at all, honestly, but it’s impossible to ignore it and I can’t reconcile David “let me sit back another foot from my swing so I don’t make Syd feel uncomfortable” with David “we don’t need the white room anymore” without his diminished capacity. And if he’s not mentally competent then I’m not going to call him a rapist. Maybe that makes me wrong but *throws up hands in surrender about this entire thing*
"You make me sick. You know that? Physically sick. Every time I look at you, every time I hear your voice, I want to throw up." "Good. Remember that feeling, because soon you will see it in her eyes when she looks at you."
"To create fear, hold up a mirror."
I've already written about David's psychotic break in the finale and the subsequent disaster of an intervention.  I won't go over all that again here. But right before this is when the last piece of Farouk's plotting snaps into place. He'd primed David well, laid the groundwork for the black-and-white thinking that heroes and villains require. He told David to act like a god, to take what he wants without regard for others. And when David did exactly that, Farouk held up a mirror. He flipped David's world around and told him that he had become a villain, just like the "fatherly" parasite who had tried so hard to "love" him. He showed David proof that he's the monster he's always feared himself to be, he erased the paternity of Charles Xavier by claiming David as his own. A villain fathering a villain.
And that's how David Haller turned into Legion.

Questions I couldn’t ask myself at the beginning of my deconversion because it would have been too overwhelming and painful:
There are a lot of things I know just not to talk about (meetings, child training, etc.) Who is protected by my silence?
Are the people I trust most also the source of the most pain and negativity in my life? Why do I still trust them more than the people who don’t hurt me, who I enjoy being around?
Why are things so much better when I’m not at home?
What if there isn’t actually an apocalypse coming? What if I’m actually going to live a normal life with a job and school and friends and stuff? What if all my apocalypse training that I thought was so valuable is actually something I’ll never use, and I missed out on learning skills useful for the life I’ll actually be living: like math and video games and parking meters?
What if I don’t believe God is good?
What if I do believe God is good, when I know the Bible very well and am fully aware that God did terrible things to innocent people-to kids and babies-what kind of person would that make me, to still follow this God and to tell others that he’s the very definition of love and goodness?
What if I want to date a girl? Why is dating a girl a sin, when it would hurt literally no one and would make both of us really happy?
Why are my non christian friends kinder to me and nicer to be around than my Christian friends? Why are they more dependable, less judgemental?
Why does the language outsiders use to describe my life seem so much harsher than insider language? Why do the words I use not seem to convey what actually happened, to outsiders?
Why is kindness wrong so often? Why do I have to stop myself from feeling empathy in order to do what I believe is right so much? Why can’t I just squeeze my friend’s hand and tell her I love her and she’s going to be okay when she tells me she’s getting an abortion? Why do I have to tell her about other options, why does it feel like I’m pushing her away when I’m doing everything I’ve been told a thousand times will save her and will be loving?
If my parents love me so much, why can’t I just call to say hi? Why don’t they ever call me just to say hi? Why can’t I tell them about my life without causing serious repercussions? Why is everything so formal and why do I always end up in tears and confused when I go home, but I can just hang out with friends and laugh about memes even on bad days?
Why is it so beautiful on the outside? Why don’t I want to go home? Why such instant fear when I see people I know from church, from the mission board, from my family?
Why does my dad’s name on my phone, or his footsteps on the stairs, or his truck tires on the driveway, fill me with dread when I say all the time that he’s a great dad and I love him so much?
Why is witnessing so hard, why do I have to force myself to do it? Why does it feel like I’m intruding on people’s personal lives, when I think it’s such a good thing for them? Why isn’t being a missionary nice?

Japanese-(Poor)English translation: irregulars-daradara
(Thai version is also available. -> เวอร์ชันภาษาไทยมีนะคะ ใครอยากได้ ติดต่อได้หลังไมค์ค่ะแต่รอหน่อยเพราะโน้ตไว้ซับนรกสุดหูรูด)
.
Prologue - Chapter 6
Chapter 11 - Epilogue
.
Chapter 7 : Frozen Lightning
- The battle of Kakashi VS Kahyou / Gai VS Rahyou begun
- Kahyou didn’t think they could beat Konoha. But believed that if they threw out their life for this, their message would reach to someone and their wills would be inherited.
- Kakashi replied that Garyou’s just an idealist and that kind of guy could destroy the world to achieve one’s own ideal
.
"I don’t care if this kind of world…"
"Will perish?"
"….."
"You wanted to say that, didn’t you?"
.
- Kakashi continued saying, he heard from Naruto that Kahyou lost the son because of Nami no kuni’s people. Then it’s understandable to think like that. Every shinobi will face the death of a loved one in someday.
- Kahyou replied emotionally that Hakuhyou (薄氷 - Thin ice) didn’t die in a battle. He was killed by people of Nami no kuni. All of shinobi have to prepared for death since when they decided becoming one, so the death of shinobi is one’s own choice. But Kahyou and Rahyou didn’t want Hakuhyou to spend that kind of life. They just wanted to have a peaceful life which have no need to fight something
- Kakashi said they’re wrong. No matter are they shinobi or ordinary people, all life demands struggle. People have to fight as long as they live
- Kahyou screamed and started attacking.
.
"What do you know about it! A death of comrade and one own’s child’s death are completely different! There’s no way someone like you could ever understand how parents whose child was killed feel!"
"Then why are you trying to take other’s child’s life away?"
”!?”
"The people you guys did execute were also someone’s children. Even if you destroyed the world, your sorrow would never fade away"
.
- It seemed that Kakashi’s words made Kahyou quite upset. Kahyou screamed+ actuated Jisarenhyou → giant-countless icicles appeared and came after everyone in the ship
- Rahyou tried to stop his sibling but it seemed that Kahyou didn’t even hear his voice. So he had to knock Kahyou out.
- But it’s a bit late. An icicles hit the ship, made a big hole on it
- The passengers and furnitures were sucked out of the ship
- Rahyou was holding Kahyou’s body + grabbing a pillar, try not to fall out
- Kakashi grabbed Gai’s hand with one hand and catched a transmission line with other one, dangling out from the ship
- Unfortunately, he couldn’t hold them tight since his index fingers were broken. So the wire kept slipping out from his hand
- Kakashi saw a mask’s falling down → He looked upward and found out that Kahyou was the woman in blue dress
Chapter 8 : 5,000 Metres before the point of Death
- Everyone’s falling down
- Kakashi and Gai looked at each other. They both have made up their mind for the death
- Kakashi thought about Kahyou’s scream + Was there anything he could do for her…?
Then he stopped thinking
'It's over anyway. I will go to the same place as Obito, Father and other comrades who passed away in a battle'
- But then Sai did save the day XD He had a birds made from Choujuugiga saved everyone
- According to Sai, the high level was about 6,000 metre (Kakashi thought that Tobishachimaru’s getting higher because it became lighter after passengers + furniture fell out)
- Kakashi told Sai that the principal offender’re Rahyou + Kahyou
- Considered from the ship’s direction, Tobishachimaru seemed to be heading to Hoozuki Castle = The hijackers’re planning to attack the castle in case the negotiations broke down
- Kakashi called Ino and told her that they need to strengthen the defences of the castle + asked Sai to take him back to the ship
Chapter 9 : Tsunade’s Decision
- Gai’s taken back to Konoha and got punched by Tsunade
- Tsunade was about to keep beating him (She’s so mad because Gai skipped the mission to go to Tobishachimaru 8D; ) but Shizune stopped her + told Tsunade that they received a contact from Tsuchikage
- Tsuchikage told the Hokage that every villages did know about the airship. But they all pretended not to know anything for sake of the comrade of the war
- Tsuchikage continued speaking that few days ago, there’re some people bought a lot of Aobiko (青火粉 - Blue Fire Spark) from Roukoku(狼哭)Village
- Explosive power of Aobiko is several times of exploding tag’s
- Iwagakure’s shinobi had been investigating and found out that aobiko was stuffed into the ship
- Other villages still remain silent because they were trying to figure out the ship’s course
- Hoozuki Castle is located on boundary line of Iwagakure and Kusagakure. (Grass village) That’s why Tsuchikage decided to contact Konoha
- He warned Tsunade that if the Tobishachimaru keep heading to Iwagakure, they will bring down the ship
- Tsunade replied that Tobishachimaru’s heading to Kusagakure. If the ship’s going to pass over the village, she will shoot it down
- Tsunade contacted Rahyou to tell him about what Tsuchikage did say. But Rahyou only said he’ll give them another 3 minutes to release Garyou or he’ll continue execution
- In Sai’s opinion, if  tail wind keep blowing like that, Tobishachimaru will reach Hoozuki castle in about 20 minutes
.
"Tsunade-sama….. Are you serious?" Sakura asked nervously.
"About shooting down the ship….. Kakashi-sensei’s still in there!?"
.
- Tsunade’s terribly hesitated. But if they let Rahyou&co get what they want, Konoha will definitely lose their footing in shinobi society
Tsunade’s order:
- Sai : stands by on the sky
- Ino : tells Kakashi about what Tsuchikage said
- Everyone except Naruto : go to Hoozuki Castle / do not let Naruto knows about this
- Even the ship was just flowed by wind… if it seems to pass over the Castle, SHOOT IT DOWN RIGHT AWAY
Chapter 10 : Heart
- Kakashi was crawling in the ducts
- He’s worrying about an execution + thinking where Aobiko could be
- Ino was trying to convince Kakashi to get out of the ship
.
"Thank you, Ino. But I can’t do that"
"But..!"
"Just like you’re worrying about me, there is someone who’s also worrying about the people who’re still in this ship"
"….."
"If I abandon those people so easily, I will not be able to protect anyone in Konoha even if I become Hokage"
.
- Kakashi went to the control room and knocked down 1 hijacker who was in there
- He told 2 pilots to keep the high-level + if they’re demanded to low the ship, they’ve to play hijackers a trick
- Kakashi asked them to do so because if Aobiko are stuffed in the ship, the hijackers would probably use is for attack the Castle… and in order to boost hit probability in throwing down Aobiko, they need to low the high-level
- Kakashi heard a voice from the lounge
*Approx. one thirds of passengers were suked out off the ship + the hijackers also became 8 people(There’s 12 in the beginning)*
- A woman’s crying. She said her son’s having asthma attack and his pills’ lost in previous incident
- She offered her life in exchange of her son’s. But Rahyou refused to make a landing just to save 1 boy.
- He said she’s people of Nami no kuni + asked what’s her job
- The woman replied that her husband’s a doctor
- Rahyou said his nephew died because he got abandonded by a doctors in Nami no kuni + The mother of the child is his sister who’s standing next to them
- Kahyou was looking downward and said nothing
- He laughed and continued, This is a retribution, now it’s their turn to abandon them
- Kakashi showed himself and told Kahyou to save the boy
.
"Kahyou, you said to me 'there's no way someone like you could ever understand how parents whose child was killed feel' right?… But you can”
Kahyou’s body stiffen up
"Please, save the boy"
Rahyou tried to interupt the conversation, he shouted he’s gonna hill Kakashi
"Shut up"
Kakashi stared Rahyou into silence.
- Kakashi continued speaking, there’s no need to make a landing. His comrade’s following the ship so all they have to do is leave the boy in his care + He also offered his own life in exchange
- Rahyou replied that then Kakashi had to die first since there’s no guarantee that he wouldn’t change his mind after releasing the boy
- Kakashi unleashed Shiden and hit it to his own neck without hesitation
- But it turned out that his right hand was swallen by the ice so it couldn’t kill him
- The ice’s also licking up from his feet → Kakashi kneaded chakra to override the jutsu
.
"You don’t have to die" said Kahyou "I’ll let this boy go"
.
- Rahyou tried to stop Kahyou but she shouted at him to stop
- She continued saying, they didn’t want to do indiscriminate killing. Plus, Kakashi couldn’t do anything anymore
*In order to stop Kahyou’s Jisarenhyou, a person has to keep kneading chakra in the body like Kakashi does. But that will make the person can’t use chakura for other jutsu* (Kahyou use it to Kakashi when they first met)
- Kahyou took the boy from his mother and opened a hole in the ice :- which had been stopping up the big hole of the ship
- She handed over the child to Sai
.
"If I saw you again, I’ll kill the hostages" "……."
.
- Kahyou told the mother to go with her son
- Other hostage started complaining that’s unfair → His body became frozen
"It’s time for an execution anyway said Kahyou
*Kakashi figured out in this part that Kahyou was the one who killed passengers with her jutsu.+ She also said only she could use Jisarenhyou*
- Kakashi asked Kahyou that why did she not actuate Jisarenhyou to him until now
- After a little hesitation, Kahyou began to talk bit by bit
- She said Kakashi did say that people have to fight as long as they live. But there’re people who were not even allowed to take part in any fights
- Most of people don't know about it, but there was caste in Kirigakure Highest : A family which have been living in Kirigakure since their ancestor’s time. Middle : A family which had took Kirigakure’s side in a war Lowest : A family which was annexed after they lost to Kirigakure in a war (Kahyou’s family was in this rank)
- In Konoha, shinobi are assigned work according to their ability. But in Kirigakure, the most dangerous mission would assign to shinobi in the lowest rank because they were considered as dangerous element which might betray the village in someday, and that’s made a lot of shinobi in Kirigakure became nukenin
- Momochi Zabuza was one of them (Kahyou also said she heard that he used to be a very kind kid)
- The test that Zabuza did kill over 100 children; was a test for the lowest rank shinobi
*According to Kahyou, thing’s getting better since Terumi Mei was inaugurated as Mizukage*
- She heard that after became nukenin, Zabuza have to kill people to earn money and dead by sneak attack
- Kahyou’s husband decided to take Zabuza’s failure as a lesson
- They made a village of nukenin and started to take a mission which people in Nami no kuni used to request to 5 villages
- They could live in the country because of that plan. But no one paid respect to shinobi who take a dirty works and that made Kahyou’s husband was upset
- He became addicted to drinking and drown to death in the sea
- After his death, Kahyou left the village of nukenin with her son, decided to live like an ordinary people
- She said they were poor but happy
- However, Hakuhyou did inherit his mother’s blood line ability
- One day, Hakuhyou’s friend threw a stone to a hornet’s nest while they’re playing together
- Hakuhyou wanted to protect his friend so he unleashed jutshu - which he wasn’t taught- unconsciously
- Despite a slight injury of his friend -who was saved because of Hakuhyou- the boy was stung in his whole body
- What is worse, the friend left Hakuhyou in a forest and ran away back to his home
- Kahyou went to the boy’s house to ask about her son because he didn’t come home and it’s getting late. But the boy’s mother looked at her like she’s a monster and said if she knew that Hakuhyou is a nukenin’s child, she wouldn’t let them play together
- Anyway, Kahyou managed to asked her where the children was
- Kahyou found her son passed out in the forest. His whole body was swollen, yet he kept talking deliriously; told his friend not to throw a stone to hornet’s nest + he will take care of the hornet so hurry up and run away
- Kakashi didn’t know what to say
- He doesn’t have a child. Moreover, He’s still hesitating to be Hokage; The father of Konoha Village. Even if someone like he say something, it will be nothing but hypocrisy
- Kahyou replied to Kakashi question, why did she not actuate Jisarenhyou to him from the start
.
"Perhaps I wanted you to stop us"
"……"
"It’s too late though"
. - Kakashi’s thought after he heard about Kahyou’s past :  Is there’re something he can do? What should he do to release this woman from the sorrow?
- Rahyou demanded his sub to lock Kakashi up in a room
.
