Sometimes I just look at Isabeau and just know that if isat came out and I got into it when I was like 16 he would be my favorite character and I would've gone absolutely buck wild over this man and feel like he was laser targeting me. But alas Odile has a grip of steel on me rn due to her virtue of being a middle aged woman

#rat rambles #stars posting #I feel like the biggest change in my taste in characters as the years have gone by is Im now far more biased towards old ppl lol #although tbf I was also the one person in 2016 who actually liked asgore so maybe Ive always liked parhetic old ppl #but yeah the reason isa is past me bait is because hes an exploration and subversion of the sort of tropes I Hated as a kid #and I still dont like them so isa still appeals to me its just not as much as he would have to a younger me #I do genuinely love all the party very dearly tho theyre all soooo good #I think my favorite part of isabeau is how like. of everyone we get to see the least facets of him but like in a very good way #this is a man who hides and bottles shit hes so fun to rotate #his self image is so carefully controlled compared to everyone else which makes him an incredibly interesting character to analyze #and I love that despite him seeming like the most emotionally stable person here on the surface he still clearly has like. hashtag issues.#like he's in that beautiful zone where its so so fun imagining what it would look like to truly break him #<- normal things that normal ppl say. like me.#I may have my very light beef with alt looping aus as a concept but hes probably the most interesting alternate looper to me #also my light beef exclusively relates to king quest stuff which is why Im a big fan of duo looper aus with sif #but honestly. isa might be the only one that I genuinely think works better as a solo looper even with taking king quest into account #although bonnie comes close. I <3 looper bonnie I <3 seeing fictional children go through the horrors #I think theres a lot of fun to be had with any alt looper au tho I just am a huge king quest fan so I like it when my favorite elements of #it dont have to be handwaved #but yeah the real question is how would younger me feel about mirabelle #because on the one hand: acearo character #but on the other hand: I have always been a little hater abt romance so idk if younger me would rly be able to follow her character well #I wasnt exactly good at character analysis back then lol #except for the instances in which I was but I dont have that sort of faith in my younger self #yknow Im thinking abt my history of favorite characters now and I think me being one of few 2016 alphys enjoyers might have been a prophecy #she was my quote unquote third favorite but in reality she was second #I think she chara and peridot su teamed up to define my taste in fictional characters for the next several years #and somehow that lead to olivia becoming one of my favorite fictional characters of all time #I say somehow as if that isnt a very natural conclusion

Some Gemology Vocabulary

for your next poem/story (pt. 1)

Gemology—the scientific study of gemstones

Acicular - crystals that have a "needle-like" form

Adamantine - the highest classification of surface lustre or reflectivity which may be shown by a gemstone (e.g. in faceted diamond)

Adularescence - a billowing flow of whitish or bluish colors that seem to float along the surface

Allochromatic - a gemstone is allochromatic when it is colorless in its pure state

Aventurescence - specular reflections or spangles of light reflected from plate-like inclusions as a stone is rotated

Baroque - gem materials having an irregular shape e.g. baroque pearls

Botryoidal - interlocking, rounded masses that sometimes look like grapes or bubbles resulting from radiating masses of fibrous crystals

Carat - a unit of weight for gemstones. There are five metric carats to the gram.

Chatoyancy - the cat’s-eye-like phenomenon caused by light reflecting from tiny fiber-like inclusions within a gem. The "eye" is seen at right angles to the direction of the inclusions. Stones must be cut en cabochon to see this effect.

Fluorescence - the emission of visible light by a gemstone when exposed to a light source whose light we normally cannot see

Idiochromatic - a gemstone is idiochromatic when the element causing its color is an essential part its chemical composition. For example, iron, which is an intrinsic part of the chemical makeup of peridot, is the cause of its green color.

Lapidary - the art of working with stone and gems which includes engraving, cutting, and polishing

Opalescence - a reflection of a milky or pearly light from a gem's interior, sometimes used as a synonym for iridescence.

Orange peel - a surface appearance resembling the outer skin of an orange. This is sometimes seen in plastic and glass simulants and should be observed in reflected light.

Phantom crystal - also known as "ghost crystal", they occur in quartz when there is an interruption in the growth cycle. It appears like a faint crystal within a crystal.

Peridot regeneration timeline! Just so i could dress her up a little hehe

(Headcanons I made while drawing this under the cut)

1. Along with not being able to shapeshift, Era 2s can’t do much more with their regenerations than change the color of their skin, which is why all of her outfits are skintight. (Except her visor because I don’t know fuck me I guess).

2. To cut costs, Era 2s also emerge knowing literally nothing except how to do their job (hence "touch stumps" "gravity connectors" etc). During “corrections” she gets her first uniform, which is a physical object they glue onto her - you can tell because her doll joints still show underneath. This is the only outfit that hangs off her body.

3. The first outfit also includes a mass-produced visor that doesn’t have a hole for her gem, so she suffers some energy deprivation having to absorb light through the glass. In her next regen she produces her own visor with a hole around her forehead, then by the next she figures out how to make it perfectly cut around her gem. The visor is what blocks you from seeing the facet edges of the gem (except I forgot to draw them again in the last design lol).

4. Her first limb enhancers are high quality and match her skin tone and everything. At 250 when she’s basically just an intern, she gets into an argument with a higher-up, who destabilizes her and revokes her fingers for a while --- this is when she becomes an obsessive rule-follower. After she gets exploded at age 2000 (rip) she gets these more generic enhancers that don’t match as well (the same kind of ‘spare’ enhancers Amethyst wears later on). They have a slightly different UI she doesn’t completely figure out until 3000 when she’s fighting the CGs.

5. Her feet are formless blobs because they were never supposed to see the light of day. She turns them into boots at the end because it’s the first time she’s really needed shoes. She still has fingers, though, because they figured she needs those in order to put on limb enhancers.

6. In canon, the fact that she stays the same before and after Garnet poofs her probably proves that she's just had the same design her entire life? But I will point out that for some reason, when she got put in a bubble it prevented her from experiencing the passage of time while poofed (right down to her continuing her own sentence when she regenerates this time).

Hikage has paradise bc his quirk Danger Sense acts like sensing whiskers, Daigoro has spectre bc it looks like his quirk Blackwhip, En has mist bc his quirk is Smokescreen, for Nana I tried to base around her colour scheme of white/yellow/grey/black with her wings replacing her cape; Yagi is also based on his costume colouring, and Izuku is a gaoler bc he's fluffy! I have scorpion on Aizawa is for his belt/goggles and scales for Tomura to emphasize his hands!
