" it's so hard to find decent studio time , " tess complained. she dramatically waved her hand through the air. " nevermind find a decent producer. i swear , i'm gonna need to learn to do everything myself at this point. "

" of course , the artist also has to do with it , " tess reluctantly agreed. she examined her nails for a moment , acting almost disinterested. she knew it wasn't a dig at her ; but she refused to see herself as the problem with her latest attempts at music. " if they aren't a decent fit , or can't perform period ... it's a disaster waiting to happen , " she hummed. " i don't know 'bout that. plenty of good songs have meaningless lyrics. sometimes it's just meant to be a fun time. "

"i don't disagree, but i think the artist can have a lot to do with that as well." loretta replied. she'd seen good music go bad because the artist wasn't the right fit. she'd been the front woman for her band, but when it came time to trying to write music at first she'd just been pulling pieces from everything else and that was when she had just started off. "i think it's a good mix of everything. but it's got to deal with the meaning of the song as well."

" the production can make or break a song , " she pointed out. there was something to say about a song that could speak for itself ; but how it was produced can make a mediocre song great. tess knew she had the talent , but she grew up under a grammy award winning shadow. her mom always thanked her producers before she thanked her daughter after all.

"do you really think it's about the production or is it about the artist?" loretta queried, her eyes glancing back toward the blonde with a slight hum. she didn't know if it was all or nothing, but having her own personal challenges, she knew that it was a balanced mix to hit that perfection people craved.
