The fall of the wall; a cat’s embrace

To end the battle for the human race.

Hidden architecture, broken dreams,

Stories of how silence screamed.

In shadows lie the tales untold,

Of whispered secrets, hearts grown cold.

A techno tune of god-like machines,

Echoes in the night, through the cracks and seams.

Welcome to the area, where futures collide,

Where hope and despair walk side by side.

Silent screams in the dead of night,

Hidden voices yearning for light.

Brick by brick, the wall descends,

As cats weave through the twists and bends.

Their gentle purrs, a soothing balm,

In a world that’s lost its calm.

Once rigid lines now blurred and free,

As dreams reshape what used to be.

In the quiet, find the hidden trace,

Of love and peace in a cat’s embrace.

The fall of the Berlin Wall was an event that was broadcasted across the world through various mediums. Radio broadcasters, newspaper journalists and television news networks were all clambering to cover the event which indicated the reunion of East and West Berlin; places that had been divided by the Berlin Wall for 28 years (Somerstein, 2017).

Conclusion

The fall of the Berlin Wall was shaped by the way it was represented in the media of the time. Television broadcasts covered the event to a great extent and made the global spectacle available to a great number of people, even people overseas. But the television broadcasts were deficient in several different aspects. These news broadcasts could not become too complex in their content so that the intended message could reach the audience, a limitation not present in print mediums like newspaper. Additionally, television was limited in its content because reporters had to appease their corporate owners and sponsors, the governments that regulated them, and the political leanings of their intended audience. Nevertheless, the opening of the Berlin Wall was still a significant event in America, to the extent that there was a burst in journalism covering the 25th anniversary of the Wall falling (Somerstein, 2017). But if these events were to happen today, the kind of coverage would be drastically different than what it was back in 1989. With smartphones and social media, there would be a greater number of videos and photos, with people posting them online for the rest of the world to see.
