what if i wrote a “shen yuan transmigrates into a wife” oneshot but the whole premise is based on the song “gone, i’m gone” from hadestown and its overall theme is wanderlust and freedom and it starts out as Shen Yuan settling into life in the palace and trying to avoid harem drama and thinking he can just live with his head down for the rest of his new life, only to be hit with a sudden intense yearning to explore his new world the likes he’s never felt before. What if he was sickly in his last life. What if he spent his entire last life indoors. Trapped between four walls. What if love is not a gilded cage. What if he begins clawing at the walls of his enclosure, desperate to escape because he wants to live, god please let him live. He can’t do this again. What if he spent months preparing for his escape and in that same breath getting the attention of some of the other wives around him because he has changed and it makes them wary. what if he got binghe’s attention as he is wont to do. What if he left. What if Shen Yuan was born with a bottomless pit in his stomach and a gaping maw in his chest. What if he was starving. What if he was starving for the world around him. What if i wrote that. What then

I'm not saying you can't criticize Stolas as a character, he IS flawed. He's dismissive, has rose tinted glasses on a good deal of the time, doesn't understand social cues and too wrapped up in his own head.

But some of the criticism I read of him is outright... awful.

"Crybaby"...

"White girl tears"...

"Victim complex"...

"Abusive"...

He made mistakes, but when you start dismissing the fact that he's NOT doing okay emotionally and psychologically for VERY CLEAR and EVIDENT reasons, which DO impact his actions and choices to a certain degree...

It comes off as ableist, honestly... -_-

Stolas isn't a monster: he's a flawed, depressed, abused, neglected gay man who just came out of the closet without any reference, who is STILL willing to do right, change and give love to those he cares about, AND he's trying to end the cycle of abuse he endured by giving his own daughter a normal life.

Heck, he pretty much raised Via ALONE!

okay so funny story abt linked universe, i don’t actually read it, but i kind of know a lot about it by proxy cuz i read a lot of link x reader fanfics aaaaaand that kind of led me to reading a lot of lu x reader fanfics bc heyyy more link content is more link content am i right? & i’m always glad to see more art/writing/fan works of my faves. so i’m aware of the general premise, some basic/major plot points & the personalities they’ve interpreted for all the links. but i don’t see myself actually reading linked universe actual comic, tho.

thank you!!! i have quite a few headcanons for her, i think it’s interesting to draw how she might look different depending what season it is

here’s a messy guide to my nya designs :D

honestly a lot of this is due to me not being able to make up my mind on her eye color or hair color SO!

-she starts to grow her hair out after skybound due to the whole ‘looking like delara’ thing

-as she got older her hair changed texture from being thick and straight to thick and wavy

after seabound stuff:

-her hair color changes from dark brown to black, as well as the salt water making it more curly then before

- she also wears it down in crystallized due to not needing to tie it up for combat after losing her powers

- her eye color changes from dark brown to blueish grey (which fades over time, eventually being a dark grey in dragons rising)

-permanent markings on face and body from her water form (start off as light blue, eventually fading to a natural scar color)

-imo she probably lost a lot of muscle mass after seabound which i imagine was very upsetting for her bc she worked so hard to be seen as physically strong compared to the others

- i also headcanon that post seabound she is hard of hearing, due to the sound of the ocean in her ears 24/7

- her bangs are grown out in dragons rising, but the side pieces are shorter than before. the rest of her hair is longer in general !
