Fax from Sarajevo: A Story of Survival is a nonfiction graphic novel by veteran American comic book artist Joe Kubert, published in 1996 by Dark Horse Comics.

The book originated as a series of faxes from European comics agent Ervin Rustemagić during the Serbian siege of Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Rustemagić and his family, whose home and possessions in the suburb of Dobrinja were destroyed, spent one-and-a-half years trapped in Sarajevo, communicating with the outside world via fax when they could.

Friend and client Kubert, the highly regarded artist of DC Comics' Sgt. Rock, Hawkman, and many other titles, was one recipient. Collaborating long-distance, they collected Rustemagić's account of life during wartime, with Kubert turning the raw faxes into a somber comics tale that won both of the comics industry's two major accolades, the Eisner Award and the Harvey Award.

Another powerful war comic covering the Bosian War in the 1990's, "Fax From Sarajevo" chronicled writer Ervin Rustemagic's real-life experiences while trapped in the war torn country before eventually escaping to Croatia. Illustrated by Joe Kubert, it would win the Eisner for Best New Graphic Novel in 1997.

ngl it really irks me when people say that comic books are “for kids” because comics are literally just a medium with which you can tell a story. the general public’s perception of comic books today is like 90% superhero comics but there are tons and tons of different types of stories being told through the medium of comics (and even in the superhero genre) that i would not even begin to describe as “for kids”. one form of media is no more inherently “for kids” than any other, they’re just different ways of telling a story.

Fax From Sarajevo by Joe Kubert is a nonfiction graphic novel published by Dark Horse in 1996. It depicts Ervin Rustemagic’s faxes that he sent from Bosnia as the Serbians lay the country under siege for a one and a half year period starting in 1992. QATAR AIRWAYS PROUDLY ANNOUNCES WINNER OF THE 2017 QATAR AIRWAYS PARIS ePRIX, SÉBASTIEN BUEMI

Sébastien Buemi was presented with the winning trophy by Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker.

Qatar Airways, sponsor of the electric street racing series Formula E, is delighted to announce the winner of the 2017 Qatar Airways Paris ePrix, Mr. Sébastien Buemi. 

The national carrier of the State of Qatar was the official airline partner and title sponsor of the highly-anticipated 2017 Qatar Airways Paris ePrix, which took place around the architectural complex of Les Invalides in the French capital on 20 May. Qatar Airways is also the official airline partner of the first-ever New York City ePrix, to be held in Red Hook, Brooklyn on 15-16 July 2017.

After presenting the trophy to the winner on Saturday evening, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker said: “We are delighted to be the official sponsor of the Formula E electric car races in Paris and New York. Qatar Airways is committed to promoting sports as a key element in bringing people together. Formula E is innovative, bold and smart with its approach, concepts mirrored at Qatar Airways through our young and modern fleet, which is widely regarded as one of the most energy efficient in the sky.” 

 “We look forward to the ePrix race in New York this summer, at which time we will also introduce our new Qsuite Business Class offering on our Paris route,” he added.

The second edition of the race in Paris along L’Esplanade des Invalides offered racing drivers and visitors an exceptional day of exhilarating competition and impressive sporting skills. VIPs, honoured guests as well as French and international journalists enjoyed the competition and activities organised by Formula E and its partner, Qatar Airways.

The FIA Formula E Championship is the world’s first fully-electric single-seater racing series, competing on the streets against the backdrop of some of the most iconic cities, including Hong Kong, Marrakech, Buenos Aires, Monaco, Paris, New York and Montreal. The championship represents a vision for the future of the motor industry, serving as a platform to showcase the latest innovations in electric vehicle technology and alternative energy solutions.

Qatar Airways, the official FIFA partner, is the official sponsor of many top-level sporting events, including the FIFA 2018 and 2022 World Cups, F.C. Barcelona, Al-Ahli F.C. in Saudi Arabia, as well as the Qatar Exxon Mobil Open and the Qatar Total Open.

Fax From Sarajevo

If somebody was killing and massacring pinguins the way Serbs are massacring Bosnian people, the world would have intervened and would have taken stronger and faster measures. However, in our case, everybody is just sitting, talking and watching how thousands of innocent civilians are being killed, how dozens of homes are being destroyed, how the whole new state, recognized by the entire world and the U.N., is being brought to misery... and who cares?!?

Fax From Sarajevo

April 18, 1992

Dear Jacques and Martin,

The best news wich I got in the last two weeks was your fax of yesterday, Martin, in wich you're saying: "I'm almost starting to feel optimistic". You are a born pessimist, and it is really very cheerful to hear that from you.

Yesterday was a terrible day here. Serbs have massacred many people in the north of Bosnia, but the worst was in a small village, where people accepted some Serbian refugees in their homes. They have given beds, food and some clothes to the Serbs, and when the Serbs were leaving the village, they cut throats of all their hosts. 

We, in Sarajevo, are not too much afraid of the bombing, but we're afraid of what the Serbs have done in other cities and in Croatia, too. They come into people's houses, kill everybody they find there and steal everything they can carry away. In the area of Dubrovnik they were stealing houses in three waves. The first wave was stealing money, jewelry and other valuable things wich they could put in their pockets and bags. The second wave of Serbian "soldiers" was stealing computers, TV sets and similar stuff, while the third wave was coming with big trucks stealing furniture, etc . . . IN this third wave some of them were bringing their wives along so that they can choose the furniture wich they liked . . . After the third wave, they were burning and blowing up they houses they robbed.

It snows in Sarajevo today, and nobody knows what this day will bring to us, and how much blood will be spilled over the snow.
