"What do you think, do I look okay" Jerry eventually asked, twirling in front of his tank. "You look just great, Jer". "Thank you Hank- oh goodness, the plant" he shrieked. "The.. what?" Hank asked. "The plant Hank, the one that was sent down to us last week that we've already managed to kill" he fretted, pointing towards a very sad looking fern that, yeah looked pretty dead… "What will she think of us, neglecting our space like that. I'll have to apologise to her straight away!" There was a dozen different things Hank wanted to say, mostly 'she wouldn't give a flying fuck', but there was no point in adding fuel to the fire. "I'm sure she'll appreciate it" he finally said, and Jerry just nodded. "Yeah, I'll just apologise, it'll be fine" he muttered, settling back down at his desk. His typing seemed a little more… frantic than usual, but he seemed calm enough. Or at least, as calm as he could be. She arrived with a 'woosh' through the nearby control point about 15 minutes later than scheduled, looking 'neat and orderly' as Jerry had described, but tired as all hell. "Director Faden, Ma'am, it's great to see you" Jerry said, running up to shake her hand. (Faden just smiled. She had given up on telling him to call her Jesse about a week into meeting him…) "It's good to see you too Jerry, I hope you're doing okay?" she asked, and Jerry nodded. "Oh yes, just dandy. Though, I do have one thing I have to tell you. I'm deeply sorry to say that the fern that was so graciously sent to decorate our space has… well…died. I cannot apologise enough for this neglect". Faden looked over at the little plant, and gave a soft 'oh'. "Don't worry, I can show you how to fix that", she replied, walking over to it. "Hey there little buddy" she said, voice high and soft, as if she was talking to a small child, "I'm really sorry to hear you've not been feeling well, but I hope you feel a bit better now". "Well I'll be" Hank muttered, as the wilted plant began to bloom again with her words, like a scene from a Goddamn Disney princess movie. "Director, that was absolutely incredible" Jerry praised, and Faden turned back to them, cheeks going pink. "Oh, anyone can do it, you just have to talk to them. I'm not sure how it works, but if it makes them happy. I've told the wellbeing department to tell people this, but they don't seem to be doing it".

“Lonseome for home?” Jocelyn’s question was soft as she carefully took Alicent’s hand and lifted the corresponding arm back up to drape thin linen over it to test her measurements and get the shape of her arm. “The familiarity of it.” “In time you get used to how they do things here. And I don’t think Aldreda will throw you to the sharks like her father did us.” It was true. Aldreda would often grow restless in the north tower surrounded by so many women in the small court her mother presided over and then leave to strut about wherever she pleased in Lonely Light, navigating the lighthouse castle and its main court full of raiders as easily as she had the ocean in those two weeks sailing from Fair Isle, but she would often let Alicent stay behind. She coaxed her out into the open on occasion, eager to show off what she’d claimed for herself while still keeping Alicent safe by her side or in the protective huddle of the Silent Selkie’s crew, but she rarely pushed for her to do more than dip her toes into the unknown waters of the Farwynd household. She seemed more eager to push Alicent further and further from her late mother’s warnings against judgment from the gods than towards or away from anything else.
